A great option for a casual lunch. I forgot to ask for my CAA discount before paying. It would be nice if the servers would ask if you have a membership.
Had a chicken club sandwich with mashed potato on the side starter was a tomato and bacon soup! Nice ambience! The staff were courteous and served us quickly! Enjoyed the food and the inner decor was inviting and appealing.
Atmosphere was excellent, food was quite good-I tried the fish Tacos and they were tasty! I wish they served three tacos instead of just two-I felt the portions could have been bigger! The service was excellent!
Been here many times. Overall experience was very good. The atmosphere is relaxed and the seating is comfortable. Lots of TV's to watch and a large bar area. Staff was friendly and attentive. Food was really good. Definitely recommend.
I ordered on Uber eats for Canada day supper. I order a family size wing dinner which came with 40 wings with choice of sauce and type of wings aka breaded or traditional. There was choice of dipping sauce for the carrots and celery. The items were packaged well. We also got a bottle of wine. The wine selection is decent. I also ordered bang bang shrimp which was cooked well and the dip was super spicy and reminded me a little of the Alabama pink sauce you get when eating southern fried foods.
I went here on a double date on Saturday and ordered the open face steak sandwich. It came with a toasted slice of thick bread and a steak on top. There was no dressing or toppings. The toppings were an extra $1.75 for onions and mushrooms. I had to order the mushrooms and onions because it was bland - the presentation was pretty bad too (my friends/partner were shocked at how my food looked). Literally picture a slice of bread with a steak on top. I also ordered a caesar salad which had little to no dressing and I had to also ask for more dressing. My server was great though!
I’m not usually one for bad reviews but I had the most violent food poisoning of my life here: (either the dill dip or the spinach dip, as we had both. My partner also had food poisoning the same night as we both ate the same thing. Still recovering
We went as a work dinner on a Wednesday night. We had a good time. A server was friendly and informative. I ordered the Empire stake for dinner. It wasn’t hot when it came to me. I could tell it was sitting for awhile to cool off that much. But didn’t complain about it. Also I have had better steak dinners. Next time I’ll try something else if we are out here. Overall it was a good night.
Went for my birthday dinner we had Holly as our waitress, what an absolute joy. She answered all of our questions about menu selections and we chose what she highly recommended and my goodness it was amazing. Shrimp Penne with mushrooms, peas, prosciutto, mushrooms in a truffle oil. It was heaven with every bite. Holly was attentive, pleasant, a true asset to this restaurant, honestly my girlfriend and I were so impressed we can’t say enough about her. At a time where restaurants are having a difficult time finding staff, and the staff they have are overworked Holly made us feel like we were special and her only customers. I hope her management knows how lucky they are to have her. All in all a wonderful experience. Yes I would go back, the bonus would be sitting in Holly’s section.
With proper meals and a drink menu you WANT to explore (personally would reccomend their state blonde and state mint), this restaurant has a unique vibe that can truly entertain. The staff are very friendly and the prices are fair.
Awful customer service, ordered Mac and cheese just now. I have a medical exemption due to my lungs and this prevents me from wearing a mask. She was about to let me purchase a drink aside from my online order. As soon as I mentioned my medical exemption for my mask I was rudely discriminated and the hostess told they cannot sell me a drink.
Came in because I was craving calamari server was honest and said at times the cook on them can be inconsistent and they were in fact chewy; server was great comped the order and replaced with these Thai dumplings that were so good! My buddy enjoyed the wings said they hit the spot! Had I not been tight for time we would have stayed longer and eaten more - cheers to the next trip!
It is great to see so many places making the effort to aid those with dietary restrictions, and this State and Main is another to add to the list. We had a very good afternoon stopover and our server did a marvelous job tailoring items on the menu to meet my wife's needs. The Dragon Boat Lettuce Wraps and the Royal Bangkok Bowls were both winners.
We were really looking forward to date night at state and main. The wait time was very long, we waited over half an hour just to give our order. We finally got a waiter 30 minutes in, he introduced himself and gave us water and left, we had to wait another long period of time to place an order. When the food arrived our fish tacos were burnt and my spouses fish taco only had 1 tiny piece of fish in it. We also order the shrimp and fries. The fries had an extreme amount of salt, and the shrimp tasted old. Was very disappointed. The only reason for the three stars is because of the waiter.
Great service. Reasonable prices. The Bang Bang shrimp appetizer is wonderful to share or as a meal with a salad. A Caesar salad, Tossed salad, 2 beers and the shrimp came to $42.
Fantastic food and lovely ambience. I visited with my colleagues and we ordered almost all the shareables. My favorites were the calamari and shrimps. I ordered fish tacos for my main meal and it was delicious. We were sitting on the patio and it was a rainy day but thanks to the big umbrellas that they had, nobody got wet. Staff were polite and fast. Make sure to reserve your table or be there early. Cannot comment on the prices as my generous manager paid for the table:)
After months of not being able to dine out, my husband and I were very much looking forward to going out for lunch and decided to try out State and Main. Unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. Our server arrived at the table introduced himself and stated that he had just arrived and didn't know what the specials were. We knew what we wanted so told him it was no problem. I asked him what they had on tap and again he was not sure. He asked what I usually order and said they didn't have that brand but suggested their house brand. When he brought our drinks he laughed and admitted he didn't tell us the drink specials. Our food was delivered in a timely manner. We both had the fish and chips. We had to ask for condiments and again our server seemed to be a bit confused. The fish was quite greasy but otherwise the meal was o.k. At the end of the day it was quite disappointing but maybe our server was trying to get back in the groove after being off work for many months. Don't think we will go back.
Me and my best friend came here to celebrate her birthday! We had Kyle as our server, and our experience was amazing we have never been here before, and we will be requesting Kyle as our server every time! He answered our questions well, and help me decide between some options, I told him what I typically look for and his recommendations were on point! See you soon Kyle!
We don't usually visit these types of chain restaurants and State & Main is a perfect of example why.
It should really be called 'Brought to you by Gordon Food Service' judging by the quality of the food. Could be Sysco or Flanagan though, can't be exactly sure.
Anyways, the food here reminds me of what you would get at a gas station in Europe. The 'bison' burger was weak and didnt have any flavour. I could see condiments and meat on the bun. I just couldn't taste any of it.
The garden salad was OK actually.
GF got some sort of wrap and asked for no tomato. Well, in classic GFS fashion, I'm assuming the wrap comes prepared off the pallet and gets cut in half at the restaurant. So, there was obviously a tomato inside, although the waitress could have forgot to add it to our order.
She didn't like her drink and said she couldn't taste any of the alcohol inside. I got a soda and the waitress only came once to refill it, after it sat empty for 5 minutes. She also never came to check on our food.
Surprisingly, the place was decently busy. IThe prices weren't that great but the atmosphere was nice. Personally, I'd prefer to just buy the pallet of food from GFS myself and save the trouble next time.
Unfortunately, my GF still left an OK tip. I wouldn't have left anything at all.
Definitely won't be returning and I don't recommend State & Main either.
Oh and they were following all covid protocols and the wait staff were friendly!
Excellent service and food quality. The portion sizes are a little small. Calamari pieces were tiny, brussel sprouts were slightly overdone, and the wings were delicious but small 1 lb = 10 wings. Next time we are ordering two sets.
We have ordered twice now through Uber eats and have been many time in the restaurant and we’ve had nothing but wonderful experiences! Little things like poutine toppings in the side and the family size dill dip! Bryan and Tim packed it great and we will definitely be coming back! Thanks for making our night
Good food, however the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant I understand it’s lockdown I respect the condition but they put us on a wait list for almost 2 hours and legally your suppose to give diners an hour and a half to eat and leave and they never told us there closing and 9 and still had us waiting and wasting our time not to mention manager was not very pleasant or professional and definitely wasn’t apologetic for wasting our time they have always lacked good customer even before lockdown don’t except to receive good service here they need to step it up!
Ordered our food for 730 had to call 2 times and still not done it was over 2 hours late. Then they tried to blame skip the dishes while I was on the phone with skip the dishes team saying they were waiting for the restaurant.
Our order Two steaks with asparagus mashed potatoes Caesar salad and two brownies
Our order that we received two steaks with broccoli mashed potatoes Caesar salad and one still frozen cheesecake
This was a very upsetting way to celebrate our Valentine’s Day
I've been to State & Main a few times now in different seasons. Classy and relaxed vibe, good spot for a date or adult get together. Great service everytime, great food everytime, especially the appetizer menu. For price, I would say typically for a couple, with 1 appetizer, 2 mains, 2 drinks + tip, it comes to roughly $90-100. They also have a really nice patio that's set up nicely.
Always consistent and food is great. I especially like the bang bang shrimp with a side of steamed rice as my go to, it makes for a satisfying but not overfilling meal.
We order state and main on skip the dishes on the regular. We always get the 2 can dine for 65, such a great deal and out of the 8 times so far we have ordered not once have we had a complaint, always cooked perfect. Also there wings are bomb, So bomb i felt compelled to leave this review, tonight brian the manager switched my wifes order from salmon to steak on short notice with no complaints. Amazing job state and main i highly recommend them.
