Steve and Mary’s On The Square

My husband and I came in Sunday afternoon. I wish I took a picture of my sandwich as it was probably the best thing I’ve ever had. I had the Turkey pesto on focaccia. I asked the chef where he gets his bread because it’s insane and I wanted to bring some home. To my pleasant surprise, he makes it himself! Of course he does! The service, the atmosphere, the love that goes into everything is beautiful and it shows! Thank you for a great experience. I’ll be sure to be back and call the day before so I can take some bread home!

It was very nice, the restaurant is owned by a family and it has a great atmosphere! The servers were friendly and we didn't have to wait long at all. The food was good and filling, I would absolutely go there again!

My husband and I enjoyed a delicious lunch at Steve and Mary's On the Square. Our server was delightful and we both enjoyed our lunches. My husband had the club sandwich and I had the BLT, both with salads. We highly recommend this restaurant.

Our sandwiches and fries came quickly and were as quickly demolished!
Considering the building was rebuilt after the tornado, the inside decor and facade fit well into the square. Worth a visit!

Best in the West! Plus an amazing train in the sky whipping around the place!

I really liked their Excellent Canadian burger, made with pea meal bacon. Not many places with a working train on the ceiling!

What a wonderful place! Steve and Mary even accommodated my vegetarian and vegan friends by making a tofu scramble hash while out for breakfast lunch with them today. How great that was for them.

This place is way better than 5/5 that's for sure! This is hands down one of the best places in Goderich to eat! My bf and I have been here several times and it's one of our first stops when in Goderich for either Breakfast or Lunch. The food is always delicious and the staff are super friendly. There's a reason this place is usually busy. Because it's the best! I highly recommend trying their focaccia bread if you order a sandwich. It's made in the restaurant and it's absolutely fantastic! We will keep coming back!

Loved Steve and Mary's! It checks all the boxes. Good food. GREAT service! All the right reasons to go back time and again. We made this our breakfast stop for the entire time we were in Goderich and you should to! We even got the chef's recipe for the fluffiest pancakes anywhere! Now THAT'S customer service!

So delicious! We had the turkey pesto mayo and harbour sandwiches on their homemade focaccia bread with some french fries to share and everything was so flavourful and filling! Generous portions, great quality, friendly service, and affordable pricing. Highly recommend!

I attended a private function here last night that was an interactive Italian cooking class. It was great! Informative fun and best of all we got to eat what we cooked! And bring home extras! Highly recommend. Steve is open to setting up whatever suits your group. Give him a call.

This place was really busy and I was a little worried when our food seemed to take a long time for a not so difficult order, but when it came, it was well worth the wait. Delicious. The prices were very reasonable too, and the portions very good.

Thoroughly enjoyed an interactive Italian Pasta Cooking class. Learned invaluable knife skills that should make it safer in the kitchen and cut meal prep time in half. Thanks Steve and Mary and the sous chef!

The food was very good but they had no pemeal bacon or milk for coffee and tea. We were there for a late breakfast so both would have been perfect

Good breakfast food, the Breakfast Hash was great. The fries were very tasty. The burger was a bit dry. Food took a little longer than average to arrive. Overall a good place for classic diner grub.

Nice place to have breakfast. Food, atmosphere and staff were great. Bonus marks for having a train run along the ceiling.

Decent diner with all the standards. Burgers, fish and chips, souvlaki etc. Good service and reasonable order turnaround. Nice location on the square with outside patio. Fries tasted like they were single fried, not crunchy enough to be double fried.

Showed up with a party of 20 from out of town. They found us all a table fairly quickly. Food came out fast, service was good but the food was phenomenal! Many of us said it was the one of the yummiest meals we’d ever had. I got to Mediterranean Benedict. It was delicious! Highly recommend.

One of the best breakfast joints I've ever tasted. Can't wait to try the lunch. Prices are perfect for the quality of food, will eat here very often.

4 stars because I keep driving there on Wednesdays and Thursdays and its closed.

Great seating area and decor, staff was quick and polite. They asked how we crispy we wanted our bacon which is incredible! Food was all perfectly cooked, shredded hash browns were amazing!

Friendly staff; no sugar or cream/milk on the table, though. Nice portions, but the cook should have been more attentive to not to mix pieces of fried onions with the pancakes.

The food was nothing short of fantastic! We had the Breakfast Burger, Harbour Sandwich, side Garden Salad, Pickle Spears, Motza Sticks and a side of Fries! Oh the fries! I am so disappointed in myself that I didn't take pictures to post with this review! The presentation was great, the staff so friendly, Chef Steve even came to see how we were enjoying our meal! Definitely recommend stopping in and we will be going back on our next trip

Why is there only female servers make it 50/50, hire male servers for the floor as well. Lol, my husband, found a bug in his 18 Oz beer.

Burgers were fresh and very tasty. Fries were amazing they put there special seasonings on them Definitely worth a drive to eat there.

Food was slightly overcooked. Though I will say it is made fresh and does have large portions. I was unable to finish my chicken park sandwich! This is about half my food you can see the slight burnt of the bread

Honestly the best breakfast food I have ever had! Me and my partner were visiting the area and walking around and came across this restaurant. The service was friendly and the restaurant vibe is relaxing and open. We had the omelette and the benedict and it was delicious! Would highly recommend this place

It was pretty good, very busy. So we had to wait, but that was ok. Had a Clubhouse with fries, Hand cut yumm. Could cook the fries a bit longer, a bit raw in side

Friend and I stopped here while in town for the day and it was the best breakfast I’ve ever had I think. I had the the pancakes and she had the eggs benny. Service was excellent as well and Emily was very nice!:)

Shocking another Tuesday and another restaurant closed in Godrich! Seriously not enough staff to keep eateries open in this town? You not trust staff to keep business open?

Pretty standard "pub grub". Everyone was very friendly and lovely, especially to our dog!

Great food. Great service. Friendly atmosphere. We were in Goderich for the Mustang Cruise and ended up at Steve and Mary's quite by chance. Happened by it when we were checking out the downtown big nickel "square". Really enjoyed everything and the staff make you feel like family. Good sized portions, quality food. Everything was unexpectedly high end. Only knock was the fries should have been cooked more, were still a bit raw. Otherwise would have been a sure 5 star review. But we still enjoyed it so much we came back for breakfast the next morning. Did not disappoint. Highly recommended if you are in the area.

Had the bacon cheeseburger and my partner had the apple turkey grilled cheese. The food was good aside from the burger being quite thin. The fries are some of the best well seasoned crispy fried I've had. The downfall was the waitress was very slow and not very friendly. Also the food took over a 1/2 hour to make.

Wife and I had a Great Lunch on the patio. Staff were Fabulous! Food was delicious. Godrich truly is a Gem. Thank You.

What an accommodating and amazing couple. After a torturous 60km bike ride we decided to stop by downtown for a bite to eat and found this little gem. The food was superb, generous and very well priced. We left very happy, an indication of exemplary customer service and dedication. I would definitely recommend this place to my fellow bike riders as well as anyone visiting Goderich. Well done Steve and Mary. Cheers!

Stopped in on Apr 26,2021 for a late breakfast and was happy to find them open, serving takeout. We ordered the full breakfast and it was amazing! The homefries are especially delicious, with a very nice seasoning.

The service was incredible, and it was nice to enjoy a chat with another human, like the good old days.

If you're heading to Goderich, definitely stop in for some comfort food, you will not be disappointed.
