Stubbe Chocolates

I've been going to Stubbe for years. I've found no better chocolate in the city: I find other producers too sweet or too weird, whereas Stubbe chocolate has unsurpassed depth and richness. I normally get an assortment of truffles, or chocolate candied orange peels (for folks who love that).
Of note: you can also order one hell of a baked chocolate cake from Stubbe! It's what I ask for for my birthday.

Just tried their peppercorn dark chocolate that we received as a gift. I was skeptical at first (peppercorn? And Canadian chocolates are often too sweet) but wow. Excellent flavour. It gets better and better in your mouth in the subsequent minute or two. 10/10 I would give this specific chocolate the highest Asian compliment: "not too sweet! "

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the wonderful staff and the addictive smell of cocoa and milk chocolate.

Picked out a few gifts from the shop, and the employees were super helpful. Tje bars were decently priced for the quality ($7-$10). Lots of variety to choose from as well. Truffles were a big hit. Huge + for having non-alcoholic options!

Definitely coming back here.

By far the best chocolate in Ottawa. I love the truffles. Inexpensive too if you buy them individually rather than in a box. Ice wine truffle is the best.

Very welcoming & friendly staff! My absolute favorite chocolate store in the city. I do not go anywhere else now. I tried their ruby bars a couple months back while in the neighbourhood and i’ve made it a tradition now everytime i’m in the area! So worth the price! Their chocolate cakes are excellent! Moist and not too sweet, with lots of selection. Great quality chocolates, always go to pick up some as gifts for different holidays.

Exvellent welcoming and service. I didn't taste chocolate but I will know later. The store is clean and there is a good selection of chocolate. The associate that served me was very attentive to my needs

I heard this was the place to get cake if you love chocolate! I got the truffle cake for my birthday and it was amazing! One of my favourite cakes I have ever had. Can’t wait to try more cakes and to try their chocolates.

Its Tuesday February 14th … mid-week… and you’re closed…… just WOW …. How is this even remotely possible…. You must be trying to go out of business….

Without a doubt, Stubbe makes the best chocolate in Ontario! I would never buy a birthday kitchen anywhere else.

We got the pistachio mango chocolate cake today for a birthday. We preordered and picked it up with no issues. The staff were very nice. The cake was absolutely delicious. Perfect level of sweetness in all of the layers. We will come back again.

Early January 2023 I went to your store TWICE and it was closed during the day. On the first visit, I just assumed everyone had left for the day as it was only about 20 minutes till closing. Only on the second time, much earlier in the day, did I notice the small sign on the door saying you were completely closed until 9 or 10th of January? You need to find a way to indicate that on maps if possible. If your chocolates were not as good as they are, I would not have gone back a second time, so that speaks for itself.

This is an excellent chocolate shop. I've gone to Soma in Toronto, LA Burdick in the US, and have tried a ton of other small speciality chocolate shops across North America. This store truly stands up to the best. The truffles (especially special milk and special dark) are incredible special, their orange chocolate is fabulous. This store is expensive, but I'd take 4 truffles from Stubbe over a 1LB chocolate bar from the grocery store any day. The items they make are so special.

The chocolates are good but a very mismanaged place. The girl at the front charged me wrongly twice, each time missing items from my order. Overcharged me both times and I had to go all the way back to get the items they missed. I thought it was the Christmas rush last time, but this time the store was empty and they still couldn’t get my order correct. Huge letdown given all the good reviews here. Unless you have the time and patience to deal with the staff’s incompetence, it’s much better to take your business elsewhere for similar price and quality.

Looking for something special? You must go. My wedding cake was designed by Chef Stubbe more than 25 years ago. I can still describe it to a 'T'. Accompanied by raspberry white chocolate truffles, I'll never forget the care and quality touch the cake and truffles added to our wedding. My anniversary is coming up. Sounds like a trip to Stubbe would be in order!

The products here are of the highest quality, some wonderfully unique options, and so yummy.

I was gifted a box of chocolates yesterday. They were so amazing! Delicious, smooth, flavorful! I wish I hadn’t eaten them so quickly! Can’t wait to get more.
