Sugar Marmalade

Really enjoyed my visit to Sugar Marmalade. Ordered the Peanut Butter French Toast bites along with some cheesecake. The white chocolate cheesecake is great and would recommend. They also had great appetizer and drink options so overall it’s a good place to get some late night food.

This marks our initial visit to this place. The desserts truly delighted us, evoking memories of Hong Kong. It's possible that we've discovered a new destination for Asian-style treats. Our intention is to explore their savory offerings on our next visit.

Quality has declined - they use plastic containers & cutlery as well now. Used to come here all the time; might try another location.

I really used to love this place. But wow, not sure what happened but it’s gone completely downhill. From the cheap plastic bowls, forks, spoons and serving dishes to the small over price portions. The ingredients don’t seem as good quality anymore either.
I’m disappointed with the new sugar marmalade, I hope they take the comments I’ve been seeing to heart and perhaps make a change to improve their business.

Used to visit them once a while. But now the food quality dropped to dust. Braised pork is pure pure fat.won't go again. Not recommend.

Why all the plastics and disposable paper cups, for dinning in customers? I would encourage those who like Sugar Marmalade’s food to go to their other branch on Highway 7 (First Markham Place), over there they use proper utensils. For planet earth, make your contribution by voting with your money!

Really mixed feelings on how the service and management have become. Food has always been good but the hygiene has declined, found a cockroach in the men's bathroom

The desserts are really cool and tasty, I didn't thought the taste would be good at my 1st visit, I ordered Mango Pancake with sundae supreme after tasting it I felt I was wrong, the taste was great and amazing, there are so many options too.

The staff are nice! The dessert is below average, and the restaurant itself doesn’t look good.

Got popcorn chicken meal for take out. We added extra chicken cutlet and the portion looks really good! It’s well packed too. Will definitely come back again!

I'm happy they are open till 1 am. Have unique varieties of dessert. Good hangout for midnight cravings

I have been supporting them since they opened, nothing but good words about them except today! I recently had a disappointing experience with my recent order through Uber Eats. The Coconut Pudding was spoiled. I will reach out to them, hopefully they can correct my experience.

One of my go-to-places. Great food, fast service & friendly staff! High recommend!

Ordered here with ubereats, didn't receive any dips for any of the food as advertised. Especially the fried buns didn't include the condensed milk. Called the store to let them know, person who answered said the manager won't do anything because the dips are worth only 2cents. Rude. The bun probably cost 25cents but I'm paying you like +$6 for your service. It's like me ordering peanut butter toast and you don't put any peanut butter on it, then tell me it's MY problem because the peanut butter only costs 2cents.

Will never order here again

Took a desert waffle, it was sooo bad! Service is super slow! Owner is really nice but server is super slow and confused. Wont repeat or recommend! $16 for a waffle with ice cream? No thank you!

Tried the take-away durian pancake and mango pomelo sago. They are exactly what I would expect from an average dessert shop in Hong Kong. A good place to go when you are nostalgic. (note: I saw other's review on the "cash-only" issue. I did not come across such an issue as there was a touch screen and a credit card terminal for purchasing take-away.)

楊枝甘露同埋榴槤班戟嘅味道同香港嘅一模一樣。我可以喺香港嘅連鎖糖水舖例如松記或者小方糖食到同樣嘅味道。我唔太清楚老細係邊度人，但係如果你想食返香港嘅味道嘅話呢間糖水舖可以一戰。

Crowded late at night. Didn’t affect the normally fast service, and food was still good.

Also I hate durian

Please stop serving rock hard frozen desert to your customers. I’ve been to this location several times and only recently they have started serving frozen cheesecake and pudding. Its rock hard you cant even cut through and I have to leave the whole thing as is. Thought ordering in might be different had to leave the cheesecake overnight to thaw only then I could eat it.

C’mon guys you are loosing customers like this.

Nice atmosphere with excellent service and friendly staff. I’ve been here a couple times over the past few weeks because this location is the best out of all the locations I’ve been to. I recommend getting fresh durian with white pearl delights if you’re a durian lover then it’s a must but if you like mango and grapefruit then the golden sago mixed is a great choice.

The food turned out to be rather bland. I'd rather go elsewhere for the Hongkong eats. But their desserts, shaved ice and egg waffle are the real stars of the place.

My friends and I often order this dish because we love the taste of the curry and the beef balls and fish balls are delicious.

I’ll start with the good: the food and desserts that we actually received tasted amazing. No complaints there.

Everything else was a bad experience:

When we first entered the restaurant, it had a horrible smell - similar to what a sewer would smell like? Ruined the ambience and feeling of cleanliness in the restaurant.

Second, it took at least 20 minutes for a server to even greet us at our table - and this was only because I had to catch a server’s attention and wave them down.

Third, although the server was friendly, he made mistakes in taking our order - we did not receive an entree and a dessert and one of the desserts was wrong (received a wrong flavour). The original server was no where to be found so when we brought up the issue to the main server, she became highly defensive stating that she could “show us the receipt showing us what we ordered” - a completely invalid point given that a server took down our order and entered it into their system himself.

We clearly stated that our original order included 2 entrees and 4 desserts however we only received 1 entree and 3 desserts (1 of the 3 being completely wrong). We clarified with the new server what we originally ordered and was expecting (we were expecting another entree and another 2 desserts - because we were still missing 1 and 1 was wrong) but she once again returned with the wrong order and still missing another dessert.and again she became highly defensive.

Anyways, a long-winded complaint there but overall a poor experience and our group will likely never go back to this location.

Tried deserts. Amazing place for deserts with a big variety. Every person can find his desert style on the menu. Big variety and nice presentations. The menu needs more pictures on it just for a new client to know what he is ordering.

We went twice on our last visit to Toronto, we walked out of the one in the Dragon City mall. But this location was great. Their parfaits are excellent, if you're not there before 8pm you may miss out on their Pana cottas tho. I absolutely loved their hot sweet dumpling soups.

Ordered bubble tea for delivery which arrived without the bubble tea straw, i felt like throwing the bobas on their face

Always a great place to go for a relatively well priced dessert. The shaved ice was delicious and there were so many great options.

We ordered two bingsu and a mint lime drink. They look nice in the photo but all of them tasted awful. The drink just tasted like sugar water. The bingsus weren’t shaved well and had chunks of ice cubes in it. It tasted so artificial and was already melting into a soup by the time we were served. Service was also very slow.

Edit: Replying to the owner’s comment. Yep, I believe it was the mint-lychee Italian soda, and the honeydew and strawberry shaved ices.

A good place for the gathering. Quite a lot of choice for the appetizer. Free parking is available behind the restaurant.

An amazing Taiwanese Dessert place in North York, offers a variety of options from food to Desserts, the name might get you confused that it only serves desserts but they offer good fusion food offerings as well. Their combo deals are good if you don't know what to pick up.

Went here for dessert. The restaurant although on the smaller size was fine for quick dining with friends for a treat.
The staff were nice although there was a strange smell of fish which got a bit distracting while trying to have dessert.
We got one cheese cake and two waffles,
The cheesecake was definitely frozen and defrosted and served, it was not the best. It had blueberry’s inside that were frozen hard and hard to bite into.
Both waffles were taken a bit long to make, more than average. They were supper hard and very very cold, although the appearance was nice the food should’ve tasted better. They got our order wrong because everything is online and asked us to pay prior receiving the food (which is never a good thing!)
The prices were fair and very good, I would come again but not too late where you feel rushed.

I usually ordered on Uber Eats, the desserts tasted great but I have to say their packaging was bad. Everytime I got my order the bag was full of liquids because of leaking and the plastic lid was always hard to open. I hope they can improve packaging online orders.

A great spot for food and desserts! Love the service however it can get busy during peak hours. We absolutely love their dessert options. They serve shaved ice, bubble tea, cakes, toasts, and more. Their popcorn chicken is also AMAZING! Love the spot to hang out with friends or go on a date.

Not too happy with the service here. We called ahead and asked for 3 waffles. They said they were closing in 30 mins but reluctantly agreed.

We then called back a minute later to add one more waffle but they said it was sold out/couldn't be done because it would take 30 mins to make. I'm not sure why we couldn't add just one more.

We were trying to be respectful and call ahead and get food to go before closing but the serving staff treated us like we were stopping them from leaving early or something. Like I get you are closing in 15 mins but as a store you should remain open to customers until the indicated closing time.

This place is AMAZING! They have a great selection of entree’s and appetizers, and a great selection of desserts (If you’ve been to Hong Kong you’ll recognize them). Their baked pasta, chicken popcorn, and honey sausages are delicious, while their selection of desserts such as cremes and shaved ice taste amazing. The food items I referred to are also just scratching the surface of their menu because it’s huge!

I can only say one negative thing is that sometimes during busy hours the customer service seems to drop a bit, but it isn’t without reason, they are trying to serve everyone, while also completing online orders and other things.

This was a great place that my wife and I enjoy in area, and we will be coming here as often as we can, though our waistlines might get a bit bigger because of it.

Great Service and delicious food. During COVID time, it is not easy to find a restaurant serves huge portion in affordable price. Definitely a chill spot for family and friend gathering.

Absolutely amazing experience! Great food, great prices and excellent service! Not sure how can anyone give 1 star but I assume everyone has their own experience.

Waited 30 minutes to get our order when there was only one other customer aside me and my other friend. I asked them to check and took two minutes for the food to come out, and when it did, it was the wrong order. Came home and in the night had the worse sore throat. Never coming there again

This location is awesome, way better than downtown, you order their menu online and select and then after you're done you can pay at the front, its so useful!
