Amidst the culinary landscape of Toronto, Sugo and Bar Sugo are two bustling establishments that stand out with consistently remarkable and almost enchanting cuisine. Nestled in the heart of Landsdowne and Bloor, both venues boast staff who exude warmth, making patrons feel welcomed and cherished - a mutual sentiment echoed by their devoted clientele. It’s no surprise to find queues, and rightly so.

For someone with a sweet tooth, their Tiramisu takes the dessert crown in the city. It doesn’t pretend to be Tiramisu; it simply is. The pasta, generous in portion and rich in flavour, reveals delicious authenticity without needing extravagant sauces. Served piping hot, each dish is a true reflection of Italian culinary finesse.

Their calamari and peppers dish showcases cleverness without compromising on deliciousness, and the eggplant parmigiana consistently delivers the perfect blend of texture, flavour, and basil. The cocktails, which mirror their menu's inventiveness, are a delightful addition to the experience. Drew stands at the helm as the heroic conductor, orchestrating the flow of patrons seamlessly in and out of the restaurant as there are no reservations. Service efficiency matches the swift precision in the kitchen.

Just next door at Bar Sugo, a unique take on pizzas awaits. The seasonal pizza featuring chicken mushrooms is a stroke of cleverness paired with a crust that attains perfection. Both lively yet intimate establishments offer not just delectable food but an experience to savour. And before you leave, consider investing in their merchandise - a testament to the culinary royalty they’ve hosted. Even sports icons like Nylander proudly donned a Sugo's hat at his press conference.

Sugo and Bar Sugo is the epitome of the finest Italian comfort food in Toronto - a culinary haven where flavour, creativity and neighbourly warmth converge.

The food is very good. The staff is very friendly and the service is great. I just found the music to be too loud.

So great. There's a reason this place is always packed, and it's worth the wait.

Delicious place for Italian with large portions.

No reservations (prepare to wait)

Always jam packed and so worth the wait. Always look forward to treating ourselves at this local gem. Plenty of seats but a bit of a tight fit. Love their spaghetti and chicken Parm.

Very long waiting hours.
Pasta quality and quantity were good.
The burrata bruchetta can be better.

This review is long over due. Been coming to Sugo for years now. I would drive from a long distance to do a take out during pandemic lockdown. The food and service is consistently great! Highly recommended! Please consider opening up in North York or Markham!

Super long wait, even though we got there 10 minutes after they opened. Doesn’t matter because the wait was worth it. Their rosé rigatoni is the best thing on the menu and the portions are massive. That rosé sauce is heavenly lol.

Food was amazing, I’ve came 2 other times but couldn’t go in because the wait was just too insane. Managed to get a table today though and was super pleased. Food is great, service was amazing, our waiter who I think might be the owner was so friendly. Super cute and cozy place! Sucks that the wait is so crazy always

SUGO-OD! This place is super busy and yet the service is so good, everyone says hi to you when you come in and bye when you leave. Also our server was super nice and conversational and funny, she almost convinced us to invest in some mozzarella sticks, which looked really yummy (I will come back for them). The portions are also big, the spaghetti is literally two meals unless you are a professional spaghetti eater, and the flavours are really good. The eggplant parm was the best I have ever had, although it is admittedly the only eggplant parm I have ever had - but it can't get much better than this. Also since the place is busy, be sure to arrive early or arrive at an off peak time - but we were lucky and we waited 20 minutes to be seated at the bar for 1: 30 pm on a nice Saturday. Overall, I highly recommend that Sugo whenever you have the chance!

Truly impressed. Good vibe, good food, good value. Check their ig beforehand if there are any specific items you wanna try as they have rotating daily menu (we will need to go back for the creamy pesto)! Even their cappuccino is bomb (be careful to not order it after noon around the Italian boss haha).

This place is incredible!
Food is great!
The wait times are huge but worth the wait!
The staff is super friendly, we went for a friends birthday and they did a great job at embarrassing the person! Great experience!
Don’t get lured into that time food will take time because they just say this so that you order evrything together and they can send you out, fortunately it happens at all busy places

After hearing great things about Sugo for some years now, I decided to make my inaugural visit today, and could not have been more pleased with the experience. For as terrific as the food was- more on that in a moment-, I have to first and foremost comment on the incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive service. Both our waitresses, Maggie & Jamie, as well as the manager, Drew, were all so very friendly and inviting, making sure our visit was as enjoyable as humanly possible. Seriously just such kind and inviting people, all of them. As for the food, I was a little let down to see there were no pesto or more cream-based options on offer when we went, but was not let down in the slightest by what we ordered, which was: the mozzarella sticks, burrata bruschetta, spaghetti (bolognese), chicken parm cutlet, and tiramisu. The burrata bruschetta became an instant favourite new dish for me, and could see myself visiting just for that. Both the spaghetti and chicken parm were absolutely brilliant- the very best, un-fussed, representations of those dishes that I've had in the city. And the tiramisu. Oh, man, the tiramisu! I could write an entire romance novel about that creamy, decadent, sensual, desert! My god, man- that's gotta' be, quite easily, the best tiramisu I've had to date- we were both downright awe-struck by how incredible it was. Coffee (cappuccino) is also fantastic here, and decor right up my alley, though I'm biased, as I myself am a pugilist- very cool. All in all, I/we simply could not be more pleased with our first visit, and look forward to many future ones. Brilliant, unpretentious, spot, which has mastered the art of simple-yet-quality Italian/Italian-American fare. Can't wait for my next visit- and, again, thanks to your staff for the truly superlative service with a smile you provide, it really goes a long way.

Love both Sugo and Bar Sugo. The food is so delicious and very generous portions of everything. The staff are super lovely and make the whole experience a great one. Favourite dish is probably their Rigatoni pasta w a side of garlic bread but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu Plan on having a drink next door somewhere as the wait time is usually around an hour or get there when they open to secure a spot.

I was on the fence about writing a review because words spread fast; the demand increases proportionally to it, and the waiting lines get longer subsequently- seeing that they don’t take reservations, the only con I have to point out. Nonetheless, there’s no way not to shoutout to Conzo and his team, for they manage to come up with generously served portions, affordable prices, friendly staff, and absolutely delightful and tasteful meals. What they do is really hard, and one doesn’t have to have kitchen experience to contemplate the truth in it - their commitment to the craft as well as the standards to everything that is delivered at the restaurant. The whole experience almost feels like a dance followed by the upbeat music in the background, and it’s all well choreographed: waiters, servers, bartenders, kitchen, all move in the same heartbeat. Sugo is alive, and I hope it remains like that for as long and we can roll our tummies back home from the experience. My Italian granny would’ve been proud, I guess that probably sums it all up

Delicious.
The staff are also nice. The two of us shared pizza and gnocchi and were full.

Took a client for lunch there on Friday Oct 6 and it was incredible! Staff and owner were so friendly, the atmosphere was intimate and inviting and the food was the best Italian food I have ever had!

What I love about Sugo: large portions, tasty, affordability and overall vibe. It is SO FUN dining here.

The food is good, a bit on the salty side but I don't mind it. My husband and I eat a lot, and we love leftovers, so for the price and quality Sugo works well for us. It's not fine dining so don't expect the best of best quality. It's comfort Italian - NY style without the NY accents. Also, I love their tiramisu, and their burrata bruschetta - YUM!

If it wasn't for the long waits, we'd go more often!

Sugo - my go to for yummy authentic Italian. Highly recommend. My only beef is that it’s always so busy - great for them and those who have time to wait! Oh also they’re closed on Monday’s so keep that in mind. Can’t wait to go back!

I came once at 18: 30 on a Saturday to find the restaurant full with no reservation until it closed. The receptionist asked me to come back on Wednesday so that the restaurant would be empty. Then I came again on the Wednesday at the same time only to be badly received by another receptionist that said that we had to come earlier. Drove again and paid parking for nothing.

Happened to come across sugo earlier in the year on my way to the value village and I’m so glad I did! I usually get the spaghetti but I have tried a couple of their appetizers and they really never disappoint. It’s the kind of food you can tell a lot of effort has been put it into and that’s so appreciated. If you want a homey meal that is sooooo worth the price come here! Delicious food, big portions and very friendly staff.
