Super 8 by Wyndham Gananoque/Country Squire Resort

Had to have my mother in law stay as her apartment was out of heat and power.
They put her in the furtherst room possible.she is 86!
No heat, she walked all the way to the restaurant to find the door locked.twice.after being told no doors are locked.
Maid we ran into in the hall was the only nice person there.

Were told there'd be hot breakfast included. Nothing at all. Yet I did see the heating pans out with steaming water in them and I went for breakfast an hour before cut off time. Shifty staff, not very honest. Charged us 18% tax on our bill even though they wouldn't provide breakfast, did not clean or pick up garbage in our room. Basically left on our own. No clean towels, extra toilet paper, no amenities whatsoever. Now to be clear, I was not expecting a luxury hotel here obviously. I mean, it's a Super 8. But these foreign people who have taken it over are grasping, and not quite forthcoming. So, I do NOT recommend. Splurge a bit and get a decent hotel.

Hotel outside needs major updating, rooms are updated, clean and in order. Owners friendly, and helpful.

I liked the service and the location and the room was clean so were the sheets. My only low point is the quality of the air in the room: the carpet was damp and so the room was humid and musky throughout the stay.

The room had a big spider on the ceiling and the web. Water did not pass through the sink and bathtub was not clean. Refrigerator does not work.

I gave the hotel and Wyndham some time to possibly rectify, but keep getting the same "well we offered different rooms" as a response. I think I have written 2 complaint letters in my life, and this is my very first "review" I have ever written.

We had three rooms booked for an upcoming wedding, two for a Fri & Sat stay, and a third for the Saturday. We have used Super 8 in the past and based our reservations on past experiences with the brand.

Upon arrival, we were shocked at the condition of the hotel. It can't even be described as a hotel, as it was more of an extremely dated motel/cottage property. We gave the benefit of the doubt and checked into the two rooms we booked for the two night stay. Once we were given our keys and directions to our room, we began to proceed, only to see the unkemptness of this hotel. By no means have we ever stayed at any hotel of this poor quality. We had to enter through an old screened in porch area, to be met with heavily worn and dirty hallways. Now, we will give credit that the rooms appear to be updated, but getting to the rooms were not meeting what I would expect from a Wyndham property.

To add to this, the first room we went to appeared unsafe, the secondary door lock had been removed. We proceeded to our second room and, after twists and turns down dirty hallways and maintenance rooms, we were met with a very dark, secluded end of a hallway, basically connected to a Wild Wing restaurant. Again, the room appeared to be updated, but very dark and tucked in a corner. Secondly, it seems the room beside us was being renovated and painted, with loud noises emanating from it.

By this time, my wife who has a few allergies, began to feel ill from the painting and whatever the strong chemicals that are used to clean the area. It was at this time we determined we would NOT be staying at this property.

We proceeded back to the reception desk to state our disappointment with the property, broken locks, concerns for our safety, the renovations occurring, and my wife’s allergies being affected. We were offered different rooms, but this was not going to improve the quality of the hotel, or make us feel any safer, or help with the wife's allergies. We stated we did not want to stay and wanted to check out.

Even though we were there for only 5-10 minutes, not even taking our suitcases into the rooms, we were told that we could check out, but that we would be charged for one nights stay in both rooms. They said technically they could charge us for all three rooms and all nights, and made it seem like they were being nice by only charging us almost $700.

Now we understand there are cancellations policies in place, however we had a long list of reasons why we could not stay, all which seemed to be met with a lack of care or concern. This was not your typical " we aren't coming and want to cancel" type circumstances. We were not a no show, we arrived per our plans, we foolishly checked in, it was the hotel that was not living up to their end of the quality expected.

We could go on and on about the dissatisfaction of this hotel, including the fact that we stayed at the hotel beside, and the next morning there was garbage strewn all over the parking lot from the Wild Wing restaurant attached to this hotel, the exact location our one room was. Seagulls everywhere scattering garbage and food all through the parking area right where we were to have stayed.

We are currently out almost $700. We didn't want to lose this money, but it sure tells you the condition of the place that we walked away with this loss only to stay at the hotel next door.

I'm certain this review will be met with yet another generic "we're disappointed that you did not find our hotel acceptable, but we offered to switch rooms", or "we could have charged you more due to our cancellation policy", response, which we have now received both from the hotel and Wyndham resorts.

Bottom line, stay at your own risk. I know for certain we will never be staying at another Super 8, nor ANY Wyndham chain hotel.

If you're looking for a clean hotel room with a jacuzzi tub, this place has the biggest jacuzzi tubs I've ever seen. It's not a five star hotel but for the price, the location service & rooms are great, I'll be back!

Absolutely huge place the room was really big aswell as the bathroom! A bit of a maze trying to find the room. The only thing I would really complain about would be the over all cleanliness of the room the floor in bathroom was dirty and a few other small things but other then that it's a good place to visit!

Staff were super helpful and accommodating! We were able to park our 28ft travel trailer in the parking lot with ease and they have a very reasonable pet fee for our 2 cats. Our room was huge and the sliding door with an outdoor deck was an unexpected plus. Some features (e.g. Taps and carpeting) were dated and could be updated. Overall would definitely come back if I pass through the area again!

Excellent costumer service. We got stucked in storm and they get us a discount considering our situation.

Last night, I was in a life-threatening situation. The blizzard almost had us in the ditches, after long stressful minutes nearly buried in snow. We the decision to wait out the storm at this Super 8. We arrived around 3 am, the reception was exceptional in getting us a room and taking care of us. The rooms were very clean and spacious. The in-room heater made the night much easier. We then left to go home safely the following morning. If you are looking for a place to stay the night, Super 8 is one of the best options.

After visiting 5 hotels in 5 nights this one was: clean, comfy, spacious, convenient and with a great outdoor pool.
I saw the previous reviews and was a bit hesitant, I was ready for anything. The place has seen glory and it has a lot of potential, we were in rooms 103 and 105, convenient for big families and close to parking, pool and breakfast room.
Breakfast was generous and included, the service was friendly and we got all we asked for.
Great time and memories from this place, hope to see it restored to its full glory again.

We booked 2 rooms (2 queens in each), stayed for one night (Sat/Sun). We paid CAD540.
I thought it is pricey. But we loved the location. Carol was very helpful before our stay, we talked over the phone few times and she did help us find 2 connected rooms. The rooms were clean with new furniture and paint. The pool was nice and quite. The kids really enjoyed it after a long day. Breakfast was decent.
Sausages, eggs, toast, jam, honey, cheese, peanut butter, and muffins. Juices and coffee as well. It was more than enough to give up a nice fresh start of the day.
Overall we enjoyed our stay.

New Owner of the Motel is very nice people, Renovate the Motel, warm Welcome from Owner and we will visit this place for Sure.

Le premier mot qui me vient est malpropre. Cet établissement acquis depuis quelques mois fait du cosmétique (peinture, miroir neuf, etc) mais oublie de laver. Le manager a prétendu upgrader ma chambre parce qu’il y avait un bain à remous.quand j’ai vu les cernes noirs l’envie de m’y prélasser s’est envolée.il y avait de la poussière de plâtre et la malpropreté du micro-onde ne faisait pas exception. Le manager était aimable lorsque présent mais pas là si on faisait le zéro. Par contre le lit était confortable.

Parth is an absolute amazing business owner. He totally goes out of his way for his customers. We couldn't get a taxi to the casino so he drove us, he's very accommodating towards his customers. We stay often and he's the new owner but really changed things here. The rooms are much nicer then before now that Parth bought the franchise. The price is right and it's always business with a smile. U won't be disappointed in the hotel or the restaurant (Wild Wings) which is attached to the hotel. The food there is phenomenal! A must stay and must eat place in the small town of Gananoque

Superbe accueil, seul point positif. Piscine intérieure fermée, on se fait dire qu’il y a un déjeuner chaud, ce n’était pas le cas. Pas d’oeufs, pas de saucisses. Céréales seulement avec des toast très ordinaire. La chambre était correct, mais aurait besoin d’amour comme le reste de l’hôtel et pas de chauffage dans la chambre. Il fesait froid… je ne recommande en aucun cas!

Great motel with a resort feel. Staff was friendly and they even upgraded room to garden view. Room was clean. Pool was great. The restaurant attached is the best place to eat in the town.

Hôtel exécrable. Nous avions réservé pour une nuit, mais quand nous avons vu la chambre nous sommes allé dans un autre hôtel. J'ai donc payé pour une chambre que je n'ai pas utilisé. Chambre malpropre, odeur de moisi, cet hôtel devrait être rénové ou simplement fermé!

The food is not that good to be honest. They only have a few workers. They should really have more tv channels for kids.they have a place for kids play. When I was there the only place we could have fun is at the basketball court, pool or somebody’s room. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are not very big.

Great getaway in the middle of the city. Peaceful, friendly service, virtually spotless. Awesome place! Awesome room. Highly recommend!

Lovely place, nice pool, we were relieved to be more outside and enjoying the garden. The neighbour pub is also a fine place to eat and have a drink.

The room was colder then outside.and got charged for a full day an was there for 10 hour.and was not allowed to bring breakfast to the room even though there was no sign to say you weren't allowed

Zwar etwas in die Jahre gekommene Anlage, aber super gemütliche Zimmer mit Whirlpool-Badewanne und kleiner Terrasse. Schöne Außenanlagen. Personal super freundlich. Squashplätze und Fitnessraum innen, Indoorpool außer Betrieb.

I checked in here while in a housing emergency {apartment had oil leak} so i asked for a weekly rate as the place is always empty and the lovely lady at the desk {also an owner} told me 500 for a week.so i ended up just getting 3 nights for 260.i then went for Breakfast the next morning and ran into an old friend who had been there a few week and told me he was paying 300 per week and by the week.when i asked why i should not also be paying 300 she said she would if i gave her 1200 all at once but i knew my friend was permitted to pay each Fri. She then went and gave my friend a hard time and threatened to kick him out in the middle of February! So anyhow i had no choice but to pay for 2 weeks at the tune of 750 in the end! Keep in mind people this place has never had more than 8 rooms rented at a time that i ever saw and usually just the two. And bring your own toilet paper they will charge you a marked up price on butt tissues and im not joking cuz it isnt funny!

Hotel room was set at 61 when we went in. The hot water took 4 mins to warm up. And when tried to shut off heater/ac it kept going and wouldn't actually stop.
