I love the events they have here! Very fair prices on drinks, quick bar service, and always a welcoming environment for a show. Just wish they had food more often-but you can't always win! Great spot-Im not a fan of the dj/dance events, but love the live music etc!

The Pork-belly Rice-Bowl with veggies was legit the best and surely healthiest bar food I’ve ever had the actual pleasure of enjoying! Thank you much, the wonderful meal helped fuel my artwork

Honestly, cheap entrance, drinks are cheaper than most clubs and the music… well you’ll always have a good time! Saturday nights are when you want to go!

Great night and great staff. Bar staff where very attentive and quick and didn’t ignore anyone getting drinks. Music was good/what you would expect and it was really nice that there was a bit of separation between the dance floor and the bar, you could hear the bartender, and weren’t pushed around getting a drink. I lost my wallet, and the staff recovered it, even tho it had been cleaned and thrown in the garbage, and had it on hand the next day when I came by. They even made sure to properly identify that I was the right person picking it up. Cheers.

Decent place. Good vibes on some days after 11PM if you are into dance. The floor and the arena can get really hot so you definitely don't want those jackets on you lol.
Good place for live music though.

Bouncer and door staff were nice and accommodating to my guest list situation. We got in with no issues! The music and crowd is great.

The dancing here is good, they play a mix of throwbacks and newer stuff and have a decent sized dance floor

Came here for an open mic fam jam on Tuesday night and was blown away by the vibes and music. Highly recommend you check it out at least once!

Wont be back.
Toilets looked like a battlefield and were unusable. Staff made no effort to maintain the bathrooms.
Dance floor was a humid sweat bucket. There were 2 fans NOT ON over the dance floor.
We just had a pandemic and the owner is going to disrespect patrons like this? Horrible smell- sewage seeps through the venue.

I see someone replied to me from the bar the excuses are impressive - "other bars washrooms get messy so please accept our disaster too. "
Part of good management is ensuring your venue is enjoyable for your patrons. If the AC is down you put out standing / moveavable fans, they cost nominal. You can even buy them used.
Part of good management is making sure your bathrooms are maintained throughout the night, that means ensuring an employee does a quick clean every few hours.
Part of good management is also fixing your pipes, so your venue does not reek of sewage.
I'd be embarassed to run my business with what I saw last night.

I don't typically write reviews but I had such a great experience I had to give credit where credit is due.

I went this past Friday with a couple of girlfriends for a casual night out.the spot was such a great vibe, we had a really good experience.
We got there around 11: 30pm and my friend was having a little bit of a panic attack.thankfully one of the security (tall guy with a side bag) noticed and brought us inside and got us water immediately.he kept checking in on us throughout the night. Its really nice to feel safe at a venue.
The bartenders were also really great and the service was really quick.

This place is so much fun and the bouncers are so friendly (I forgot your name I'm so SORRRY) but the atmosphere here is great and overall 10/10 time

Music was trash, 30 second clips of top 40 tracks, bartender service was good and bouncer at the door was good. Over all great spot if you're lacking taste and want to feel uncomfortable looking lost and questioning your life decisions.

It's a good place that offers bar and variety. A lounge bar that has its own music as well as a dancing and stage section that has a different music. Friendly crowd and crazy dance moves on classic songs. Good vibes and the bar is reasonably priced, but the dance section had sweat kind of smell on Saturday I visited- that was the only turn down.

Go try the smoked brisket burger! Best bar food I have ever had in Toronto. The fries were great too!

Nice atmosphere. Would have been nicer if they had servers during the live show. Otherwise, quite enjoyable.

Great food, great staff, great parties and obviously the best sunday night open mic jam you can imagine!

Amazing pub where you can assist to a concert for a small fee! I will definitely come back again to see more artist. Everyday the pub has a different special price on drinks. For example every Tuesday the tallboy can is 7$ from a local brewery! The fee for a concert is between 5/10 dollars.

I only ever have the most fun at Supermarket! All my friends and I LOVE going on Fridays or Saturday nights. We have such a great experience with all the staff, namely Tim and Sunny the bouncers. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great night out on the town - the service is great and so so friendly!

5 stars because this place is so cool, the stage and sound are great, and the staff is all amazing. Thanks for taking care of me, Mary, Simon, and all the other musicians that night. Looking forward to getting back here. Check it out for some great live music.

Went for casual drink and dance on a Saturday night. $5 entrance fee before 11pm cash only. 90s music and dance floor fits about 30 ppl packed, it can get really stuffy and hot inside. Drinks were alright nothing special. They need to work on their security people very unfriendly. Bathroom stalls are decent size but not that clean.

Went dancing and such an amazing time. The music was very diverse you get a little bit of everything. The drink prices were affordable. I will definitely be back,

If I could give zero stars I would. I approached the staff about the fact that nobody was wearing masks, despite the fact that the unmasked people were not eating or drinking. The staff said they’d make an announcement to remind people to wear their masks but never did. There was probably 100 people and only 10 people were actually wearing their masks. They don’t care about safety or Covid protocol, their top priority is making money. Will never return.

There wasn’t one announcement while I was there for 3 hours for people to put on their masks. Absolutely no staff enforced the mask policy and again, 90% of people had no mask on the entire 3 hours. There are no excuses.

Met my wife here 6 years ago. You can probably find casual hookups here, too. Something for everyone.

In Kensington Market, Supermarket is a bar with a small kitchen and a large events room at the back of the place. The back room has a great stage and I enjoyed both the restaurant and the event. It is not accessible and the washroom is quite small. This is troublesome.

PSA to bands/acts: play somewhere else, you will not get paid.there are literally dozens of other venues in the city that will pay you for your work.don't get stiffed.

Good venue, hot chicken was good, however portions were smaller than 5 points, the other Nashville hot chicken place. Can't speak of Chica's as I have not been there.

Great place to go dancing on a Friday /Saturday night (after 10: 30pm)! The DJs are awesome, able to read the crowd and play a mix that has everyone pumped:)

Decent spot for drinks but unnecessarily crowded at the bar area.no sports on the TVs, which begs the question, ‘why have TVs at all? ’. The draft selection is quite limited but if you’re there to get drunk (which, let’s face it, is 90% of the reason you go to bars in Kensington) you can make do with what they have. The bartenders do not make spectacular cocktails, unfortunately; Kensington bars are known for theirs but Supermarket is not. The outdoor patio, when available, is awesome. They won’t serve you drinks outdoors though, so keep that in mind if you plan on being pampered. Most people don’t care for that level of service (myself included) but, if you do, you’ll be disappointed.

Great venue for hosting and event. Greg and Bella were very helpful and professional with venue booking and catering.

Chen Chen's Nashville Hot Chicken at The Supermarket! Amazing new food at this classic Kensington bar. Great music venue, drinks and food!

We went out for a smoke and upon re-entering we were asked to pay a cover. This is despite the fact ct that we had bought many beers between a party of 5 people. When the door girl with finger tattoos was confronted we were hurled insults when departing the place.

Two of the people in our party already had stamps as well. We wanted to stay longer and without a doubt would have spent more than the $20 sporadic cover charge would have earned this dump. The staff sucks here and there are countless better places in Kensington Market to spend your money than this dump.

The woman with tattoos working at the front collecting cover is probably the rudest person I have ever come across. She hurls insults and swears at you for no reason when, at the end of the day, her job is to stamp your wrist and collect your money. Two bad encounters with this woman who has been working there for some months now, and according to other reviews I dont appear to be the only one having bad experiences with her. Will not be returning to this bar if they keep horrible people around as their front line employees.

Horrible service and incredibly rude staff. I'm normally not one to avoid an establishment for the staff but I never want to support a business who hires such entitled and rude people. Will never go back.

Mostly empty unless there’s a show going on in the back. There’s always a wide range of events happening and the food is quite delicious.

I've been looking for a place to go dancing that I love as much as the Dance Cave. The music is amazing and the owner is wonderful. It is a little small, so it might take a while to get in if there's a line out the door - but you'll have a blast once you're in.

Security isn't the friendliest at this establishment sadly. Supermarket has many great events going on with a very friendly bar staff.

Great venue with open style bar and good acoustics! Really enjoyed their jazz night and drinks were cheap!

Every Sunday night they happen to open mic. If your phone is low on a charge even have a charging station for it. And service is friendly and fast.

The food was good, and the atmosphere was good as well, it got pretty noisy as it filled up though.

Despite the name, this is not a very good place to get groceries. It is not even a good place to buy food. Very misleading name at an attempt to be trendy. Its over crowded in the dance area, and they don't seem to utilize half the space they have

Had an event at the supermarket last friday (aug 23rd) brought over 150 people, and the people working at this place were AWFUL.so incredibly rude, its like they didnt want your business.we brought over 150 people, all of whom spent a lot of money, and this place did not deserve it.will never book another event here.how can you run a business with such angry/sour/rude people representing it.

Good food, good music. Depending on the nights, it could be more like a dance club, other nights like Sunday's there's an open mic with some mad talent that comes through.

0 stars.will provide terrible service at the bar and will call you out for a poor tip. When you tell them you were disappointed with the service, they will have you thrown out. Never again. Avoid!

We were served by a terrible bartender who was rude to us all night and we decided not to tip her as a result. When she realized this, she started loudly screaming at us from behind the bar. She then told the security guard we were "causing trouble" and had us kicked out at 1: 55 AM (when we were just standing around, ready to leave).

We tried to email the bar to raise the issue, and received no response. Very disappointed with the service and treatment!

Stopped here at 9 on a Thursday. Good spot. Good music. Fish tacos were the best I’ve had in some time. Reasonably priced.

I had a bad experience with the bouncer aggressively frisking me before I went in. Apparently my wallet and keys looked sketchy in my pocket. I’m sure the guy just wanted to keep the club safe but it is illegal to search someone without probable cause as far as I know. He also was very aggressive and grabby in the searching and I felt uncomfortable so I have to say I’m not going back ever.

Fun spot in Kensington Market for a night out, can be pretty busy especially in summertime, but often the music isn't half bad and the dance floor in the back gets lively
