Very fast service, food never took long. Did all you can eat and the food was quite fresh. Make sure to reserve in advance as it can get busy. The restaurant interior is pretty old and worn.
Disgusting, service was horrible. Food is horrible and not fresh. I literally left the restaurant and threw up outside my car. Complete waste of money. This place is the last place I would go for, for sushi. Never coming here again. I wish I can give this place negative stars. DO NOT come here, me and my mom got sick the moment we left the restaurant.
Hey everyone, so I just want to be clear, right from the beginning. No one would ever order here (Sushi Kan on Baseline), if it was not an All You Can Eat.
Alright, so the first warning comes even before you eat the food: the rundown building, the grimy interior, the unhappy staff, dishes and staff's family hanging around. So, most people would say, hey let's go next door, but you're on baseline, there's no next door, so we settle and say "well, we're here, let's push through".
So you push through. One of three options will now occur. Worse case scenario, food poisoning, which is 50% more likely here due to them not replacing the deep-fryer oil regularly (fried foods taste like milky burnt toast) and the establishment seeming unclean overall, which is a concern. Second case scenario, you get through the bland food, and sushi that is just jammed with rice (literally, I am not joking, it's actually hilarious, I should have taken a picture, it's a work of art.), long waits for food, plates that have stains, bottles with empty soya sauce.etc. You leave unhappy, and it still costs you 31$ + tax (35.65 + tip). Situation number 3, you actually love the food and are coincidentally also paid to post a positive 5 star review here (if you live here or in another unrelated country, still applies) or, have no taste buds left, maybe because you love smoking (which is fine - cigarettes, or marijuana) and literally could eat anything at this point it all tastes amazing or all the same (depending on your smoking choice)
Good luck! It's like Joe Rogan's 3rd challenge of food from fear Factor.
P. S I got 50% of scenario 1 and 100% of scenario 2 combined.
Went for dinner with my daughter as she recommended it. Was warned to overlook the interior and told it was $18 (that was the lunch price) we paid $33 per person. The food was awful - could not eat anything that was cooked in oil. When I got to the cash and was shocked at the price (I don’t mind paying for good food and atmosphere but this place had neither) the cashier argued with me. I told her it wasn’t preference - the oil had gone bad and they needed to change it. She did not care at all.
Terrible spot. Sushi tasted old. Fish smelled. And they keep over looking to make sure you finish your food to try and charge you extra. Going to 168 sushi from now on.
What you would expect from an all you can eat sushi restaurant. The sushi is ok, some dishes are better than others, but all edible. Don't go if your expecting the best sushi, but fully enjoy if you want to try different sushi ideas with friends.
I'm pretty torn. Great food and service, but the washrooms we're horrifying. One stall was covered in vomit and the other toilet was full of garbage. If I hadn't gone in the bathroom it would have been 5 stars. Very strange experience.
Great sushi! Little expensive but worth it. I'd give 5 stars but I always find these places the service is always bad.you will ask some one for something and 2 other people will come ask what you want. Maybe just some basic English skills of the menu would help:)
We like the footwe don’t like the service, we were regulars for a while until they miss treating our kid one day so we moved permanently to go the innes location and we have been going there regularly ever since
Was not happy with the presentation and or flavour of the food. We managed to eat half of what we ordered before calling it a night. We gave it an honest try hoping the next dish would be better but it wasn’t. We will not be back. If you know sushi and enjoy it as much as we do, this place will not come close to meeting your expectations!
They will feed you plastic and tell you all they can do is give you 10% off! Ordered deep fried crab… it was deep fried with a plastic wrapper on it. When saying I did not want to pay for my meal I was told that they “usually” give 10% off for this, as if it is a normal occurrence!
How this place is still open for business is beyond my knowledge. The food was awful. Everything tempura there tasted funny and we spat out for fear of food poisoning. It was either old food or the oil hadn't been changed in years. The rolls were okay but I've had much better. The place was disgustingly old and dirty. The service was brutal, no greeting, no friendliness. If our meal, 2 adults and 2 kids under 9 would've been 50$, why not. But it cost us a whopping 110$ before tip! Please avoid at all cost! If I could give it -5 star, I would!
No air conditioning. This should have been stated when making a reservation. Minimal ice given with water. During a heat wave there should at least be ice in the water. Food took forever to arrive. Will not be returning.
1, We ate all $94, the cashier also said it was $94, but after paying we got $154 deducted from the card, the cashier's face changed color when we asked for the receipt, after checking them I saw this as a mistake and reflected back to her. I don't know if this is a mistake or she did it on purpose 2, The food is not too bad, but not fresh 3, Poor service, one of them just came and put the food on our table with an emotionless face and said nothing 4, Some of the food we ordered didn't come out
Place looks shabby and run down. Food was pretty good except they constantly gave less than we ordered of items with no explanation or acknowledging it. We went about 20m without any food from a page sent and when we were wondering what's going on realized they'd been handing our ordered food to other tables. One staff was friendly and apologized, others never spoke to anybody. One server I reminded should have her mask covering her nose since it was hanging out, she apologized and fixed it but I saw her with it out again immediately after. Worst was one of the two guys making food had his nose hanging completely out his mask the entire night. Debated on taking a pic for this review. I'm assuming it's because he has glasses but gross during covid days nonlethess. Not wearing a mask is same effect as having your shnoz hang out.
Did our first indoor dining meal since the start of the pandemic and it went well. Service was attentive and they were taking all appropriate precautions with the booth cleaned before we sat, staff masked and customers reminded to keep masks on until seated. You need a reservation to get a table which controls people flow. Food was good and moved fast given the 90 minute limit on table use. Check it out for the all-you-can-eat sushi crowd.
Lower your expectations and enjoy a cheap buffet. +Food tastes okay. +Affordable $21 all you can eat on a weekend. However: -Aircondition was not working while 32C outside. -Dirty floor and windows. -Staff were not service oriented. -Service was slow slow. -Sushi rolls rolled were losly rolled with disproportionate sizes. I dont regret visiting, but I would rather pay a bit more next time and enjoy a better service.
Just awful! The final product looks nothing like the photos online. Poor quality food - avocados were more brown than green, the tempura shrimp was oily and gummy, and the nori sheets on the handrolls were torn and soft. Spent $70 and it wasn't worth half of that. I've had better grocery store sushi. Never again.
So glad that Sushi Kan is open again for all you can eat. My husband hasn't stopped talking about wanting Sushi Kan during the pandemic. They are always fast at bringing out food. The menu has a great selection of sushi and non sushi options, and delicious desserts too
Sushi Kan is affordable sushi, it tastes good, looks fine and is one of the least expensive all you can eat experiences when thats available. With sushi you typically get what you pay for so don't expect the rice to fillings ratio to be spot on.
Very poor rules because me and my parents live in a different houses yet we can't go out to eat with each other. Same address rule does not make sense and if everyone was doing it, that would make sense but they are the only ones that do it. It was great food before these ridiculous owner made rules came in but this needs to change.
Normally not one to leave reviews but thought Sushi Kan deserved it! They are priced competitively, deliver fast, and have consistently yummy food. They also don't mind substituting things when I ask. My go-to for sushi delivery for months now.
Just walked out of this very unclean establishment, the atmosphere was dirty right from the get go, the smell, the splatter of food sauces on our booths and along the walls. Our general tsoa chicken was old and soggy, with the wrong sauce. Everything else tasted and felt like it came of out the fridge. Never stepping foot in there again. We told them as soon as we sensed the level of discomfort we felt and told them to stop our orders and we apologized and left.
Service and food quality of some items (anything fried is meh) is hit or miss but you get to stuff a ton of decent sushi in your gullet for thirty bucks, so what's not to like?
One of the older original all you can eat sushi places in Ottawa. Menu hasn't changed much over the years (neither has the decor) and they still have you write down your orders manually. But the food is good and the service acceptable.
Poor variety of rolls, not the best quality. Place looks very old, staff look like they just waked up and still in pajamas. Fast service, but food not worth money that have been paid
Our family really enjoys this restaurant. We go at lunch for more reasonable prices, however the age of 10+ being charged as adult is not kid friendly.
I love this place and so does my 3 year old daughter. Great place for large family/group events. All of the food is so good and they offer more than just fresh sushi. The chicken fried rice is really good. Beer is fairly cheap as well, their sapporo beer used to be MUCH cheaper but it's expensive now. The yummy yummy rolls are amazing.
Worse customer service ever, they miss something in my order and I called and explain but get called “crazy person” in Chinese. I’m bilingual I understand what you said. It’s really unprofessional and inappropriate. Would never come back.
Wow! The service was awful; I can't remember feeling so insignificant at a restaurant. We were a family of 6 Celebrating a birthday. The food was good but the service absolutely left a bad taste. 4 out of 5 waiters were rude do we were exceptionally grateful for the last one who gave us a smile. We would NOT recommend it. Fix your attitude.
What a strange place. First, they quoted the wrong price for the buffet. Then, they didn't offer me anything to drink. The rolls were HEAVILY packed with rice with very little in the way the real fillings. Would def avoid.
This is by far the best place I have gone to for sushi. I’ve been to a few places in Ottawa and I always end up saying “wish we would have gone to sushi kan! ”
Food and service is good. The "vegetable roll " is just avocado cucumber. Why not call it cucumber avocado roll? I ended up with way too many avocado rolls
The staff was incredibly rude to my colleague due to them ordering a la cart and us the all you can eat option. Told them rudely they had to sit at a completely different table. My colleagues were so insulted that they left. Our group was then ignored for the rest of night (we brought up our orders ourselves). I'm sad that this great place had such a bad show of customer service.
That was the most delicious food i tasted in a while the sushi was perfect no complains at all other places the sushy id dry and tasteless but this place is amazing!
Food was ok. Not particularly hot, warm at best and only one wait staff in the building so service was not that great either. Sushi Kan on Innes I find is much better on food temperature and friendly service.
I normaly love this place, but the service was deplorable. I was embarrassed that I brought my friends there. Nobody smiles or goes out of their way for you. You feel like your annoying them. If you hate your job just leave. The bathrooms also need major sanitizing and good over haul.
Food was descent. The service not so much! After finding hair is one of the plates we refused to finish eating and were charged extra. After 15 min and asking twice for our dessert it never came.we left.
