Decor was vary dated and had a musty smell.everything felt old including menus were in bits and tattered.
Food was horrible. Miso was out of a can.chicken was over cooked almost like leather.

Only 3 tables sat of 5 people total and service was difficult.

Had never been in before and shall give it a miss moving forward. Need a good Japanese resto in Kanata. Pls

This was our first time trying Kanata Sushi for AYCE given it was closeby the theatre and we were the only people in the restaurant. These owners have some strategy where they delay the timing of food based on the profit they're making. We ordered a lot of sashimi and sushi and we got the sashimi 40 mins later. It was super awkward cause I swear the sushi chief was chilling on his phone for 10-15 mins.

The quality of the sushi was pathetic. Cubed sashimi which is about a quarter size of a regular piece of sashimi fish. The maki rolls had way too much rice to fish and ingredient ratio.

I would not recommend this restaurant for AYCE.

I took my girlfriend for all you can eat sushi here and I regret it. The server was very rude all the way thru our experience and she said if we wasted any food we would be charged more money. What a terrible restaurant.

We came in at 9: 00 pm it says the restaurant closes at 10: 30. We tried to get a table but the lady at the front was very quick to reject us which was weird because the place was literally empty there was like only 2 tables occupied and she rejected us and left immediately. I hope the owner of this restaurant could see this reviews and look more into his staff and hopefully take action because what happened was not acceptable.

Honestly the last time I came to this restaurant was back in 2015 I used to always come with my family and it was our go to sushi place. Tonight me and my family decided to go and we went around 9 pm the restaurant was dead empty and we told the waiter “table for 5” she rejected us immediately and turned her back on us, I can say today that I will never come back to this place which is very disappointing.

Went on a Friday night with only 2 customers including ourselves. Had to wait 20 minutes for each meal serving. Not recommended.

The worst sushi place I have ever eaten! We went to have a nice dinner as a family, as soon as we showed up they looked uncomfortable, we didn't pay attention and decided to seat. Waitress was focused in the high price and asked many times if we wanted the all-you-can-eat service, we said yes. Then our nightmare started, for every order we had to wait 40min+
The worst was that the order arrived incomplete, we tried to have a lot of patience, but we were THE ONLY ONE THERE, no more customers dining in. Then we saw people coming in to dine in and the only waitress told them that they cannot service today, no food available. Around 6 couples in less than 30min, while we waited for the second order. Then the second order arrived incomplete, so I told the waitress, and I told her that we waited more than 40min for that, almost two hours seated there and still waiting for service, then she turned upset and told me that there is only one cooker in the kitchen doing everything, and that they don't have everything I asked for, so I told her that it's not my fault, and if they new they can't serve properly they should tell us at the beginning so we can go somewhere else instead of being there, she was upset and told me that the dinning time was 2hours and I already took the time. That was unbelievable!
She charged us full service and no food were available for us. We understood why that place was empty. I hope a nice restaurant replaces them, Kanata deserves a good place to eat, but the lack of good services and food in international restaurants are obvious. I have visited many restaurants, we love sushi, but this experience was awful. We are new in Kanata, I am surprise this restaurant still alive!
The only one for sushi is Hockey sushi, is not the best but the best and only in Kanata.

Second time I try to go there based on the hours posted on Google, closing at 10: 30pm on Friday night (and Uber eats which says they’re open till 2: 30am). Twice now I’ve gone, once in the daytime and once at night. Daytime it was closed with no sign explaining why.
Nighttime, I was rudely told they were closed (even though the sign said Open).
Walked away and not planning to go back. It’s a shame because their menu looks really good and I hate low-starring businesses because I know how hard it’s been since the pandemic. But truly bad experience.

We went on a Monday evening. Walked in and saw only 6 customers in the entire restaurant. The waitress asked if we had reservations and when I said no she promptly said they were too busy and walked away before I could say anything.

Absolutely horrible experience.
The server barely understood English, and I asked the difference between sushi and sashimi as I just wanted the fish and not the rice. She told me it would be the sushi. So I ordered that and it came the way she mentioned it but the fish was frozen.
The second time I put the order through, I wrote the exact same thing and it came with rice! When we spoke to her about it, she said “you wasted our rice! ”
The shrimp tempura, only 2/6 pieces were warm.
A glass of water got spilled on the table and she just gave us a roll of paper towel to clean it up ourselves.
If I could I would give this a 0 star.
Absolutely terrible and lack of quality. The chef and the server both were not attentive and we saw the chef wiping his face on his gloves. It was disgusting.

I used to eat here regularly when I was posted to CFB Petawawa. I decided to take my daughter here for her birthday dinner. I was refused service because “they were too busy. ” I commented that they only had 2 tables occupied. I was then told “they have a reservation that will be there soon and they will be too busy. ” I commented on the 3 tables they had pushed together for their reservation, and pointed out all of the other tables that did not have any reserved signs on them. I was again refused service because “they would be too busy soon. ” I again pointed out that they only had 2 tables that were occupied, and a great number of tables that appeared to not be reserved. You cannot make this up, I was told to “maybe try tomorrow. ” So I asked the woman I was speaking with, “So you guys don’t want my money in exchange for sushi for an 8 year old and a guy who’s counting macros - not a whole lot of sushi? ” The woman said to me “not today, maybe tomorrow. ”

This is absolutely ridiculous service, I really wouldn’t be that upset if they closed permanently. This is insane! I was trying to convince them to take my money. I definitely won’t be back…. The Mandarin took great care of us!

Went on a Saturday night. 3 tables with people at them rest empty. Told they can't have any more people.

6 people eating. Told no tables free. What a joke, just go out of business then what's the point.

We use to go to this restaurant twice a month before the pandemic. It was a great place, super fast and always busy.
Sadly it looks like another restaurant killed by the pandemic.

Service is now extremely slow, we stayed for over 2 hrs. Ended up canceling half are order.
Seems to be only 1 Cook and 1 Server now.
I don't think they have the staff to serve more then a couple people at a time now.

It's a bit sad to see, because it was a great place at one time.

Also, unlike a bunch of the comments the server is not rude her English just isn't very good. When "she says no more tables" its weird to hear when the place is empty but it seems to be they can only handle two tables at a time.

0 customer skills from staff, they refused to seat us (party of 4) without reservation in a near empty restaurant. We asked whether they'd seat us as 2 parties of 2 and said "we refuse to serve you" horrendous people skills,

I don’t understand how this plays expects to stay in business. Two times now we have tried to dine in here. The first time we were told that we needed a reservation (even though the place was empty), so the second time we tried calling the restaurant twice. No answer. So we decided to drop in & see if we could get a table since they weren’t answering their phone. We once again arrive to an empty restaurant & were met by an aggressive lady saying we needed to make a reservation & that she could not accommodate us.
Don’t waste your time. After looking at other reviews, I guess I’m glad I wasn’t able to dine in ‍️

We ordered a big party platter for take out. Very impressed! Everything was so carefully packaged and neat, and the food was delish!
