I got the chicken teriyaki don - with the spicy mayo - Incredible food! Excellent, efficient service and high quality ingredients. I was welcomed warmly and will definitely be back!
This is the best Japanese restaurant I’ve ever been to! Authentic fresh food and a cute + cozy atmosphere. Both my husband and I loved the experience. We will 100% be returning when in town!
I don't get these other reviews. The sushi was pretty bad. The rice wasn't fresh, neither was the fish so it had weird fishy taste. Not too sure why they don't use lemon to get rid of fishy taste that appears when the fish is old. Not worth the price.
The waitress was super nice and the service is great. But bad food ruins everything. Good tea though.
The restaurant hop in the pursuit of decent sushi took my friend and I to Sushi Ya. Every time I've walked down Clarence, I've wanted to eat here, so the opportunity arose after starting the evening with bad sushi elsewhere. What a charming place. Its cozy and lined with a mirror wall to make it brighter inside. After checking the menu, our server started with a plate of edaname, followed by a not too salty miso soup that contained small cubes of tofu and finely sliced green onions. These dishes by the way weren't something we had ordered, they were included as part of the meal! Our medium sushi/sashimi pate followed after not too long of a wait. A rose was added to the plate in a nest of radish and carrot.beautiful presentation! The cuts of fish were fresh and of a decent sized portion and all the sushi was beautifully uniform. Wasabi was paired with a sweet rather than salty soy sauce which was a delightful and unexpected taste surprise which I loved. My friend had a hot pot of tea and I had a glass of water which was refilled when needed.our server was attentive, yet unobtrusive. Another family came in and sat behind us. They ordered different types of Bento boxes, so the next time we go, I'm going to give that a try. The chef and the server are a couple, so this is a family-owned and operated business. If you are seeking fresh, well-prepared Japanese food in a clean and quiet atmosphere, Sushi Ya won't disappoint! Sushi Yeah! And Sushi Yaaayyy! I WILL be back many times and make sure to sample their very extensive menu. Thank-you for making my friend's last good meal in London (he's moving) enjoyable and memorable!
Very kind family runs the business. Emphasis on quality over quantity (which, if you've only ever done "all you can eat" sushi you're in for a treat).
Prices are also very reasonable - good value overall.
They are good at making gluten free orders. I appreciate most sushi is gluten free naturally; but they take care not to mix the crispy bits of tempura or any soy sauce. I have celiac and have never been sick. They even give me a separate container of naturally gluten free Tamari with my take out instead of soy sauce. They'll also do the spicy salmon sans crispy if you ask.
Sushi Ya is one of those places that makes you feel like you are in another country. It's a small hole in the wall restaurant that feels like it's in Japan. The food is exceptional and probably the best in the city.
Dropped in lunch on Thursday, excellent! Quaint little place, excellent service and atmosphere. Tiny yet perfect! The kitchen, dining and excellent all in ONE. Service was wonderful. We have a chicken and a shrimp box lunch…. Delicious! Thanks.
Went there today for take out sushi and it was amazing! The owners are very kind. Best sushi i’ve had in London and by far the best price. Will be coming back!
Sushi Ya is on my regular rotation of lunch spots in Downtown London! The chicken teriyaki box with spicy salmon is a perfect size and lots of tasty items.
My favourite sushi place in town, their bento boxes are fantastic. In addition the family is friendly and never fails to greet and see you off with a smile.
