Swiss Chalet

We were at Swiss Chalet with my 98-year-old blind mother this weekend. Worst experience in a restaurant I think I’ve ever had. For starters, they didn’t tell us that the furnace was broken. Freezing, I had to ask a waiter, and then noticed that almost everybody was sitting in winter coats. They could’ve had the decency to tell us. We had come back for the roast beef for my mom which we were told at Christmas was not available until January. No roast beef and they just put out new menus I was told. Then our server forgot a number of things like the milk for my tea and butter for the potatoes and wet wipes for my hands. The epitome was when we were told after 45 minutes wait that there was no cooked chicken available for my quesadilla. At Swiss Chalet!? We had been waiting a long time. I asked the Server, if I could change my order and have ribs, like my husband and my mother, and was told no, it would be another 10 minutes. I asked them to Comp us by giving my mother another glass of wine and they refused. 15 minutes later, our Meals came. The absolute worst driest most tasteless chicken quesadilla I’ve ever had and could not eat it. Finally when they brought the little machine to pay it did not give me an option to give 0% tip. In fact, after three tries and finally help from another server was I even able to make a payment. Everybody just kept saying the machines were new and obviously they didn’t know how to operate them nevertheless, expect a customer to operate. I will never return to any Swiss chalet.

What a great meal, Swiss Chalet surely never misses. Service was polite and timely, food was quick yet hot and tasty. Truly one of the great remaining affordable dining experiences left for us in Ontario! Be sure to be served by Matt at the Carling location in Ottawa for an amazing experience!

We did takeout. Service was great. Staff was friendly, food was tasty & hot. A big plus was the fact I asked for a small rib sauce on the side and it was inside my bag as I hoped when I got. May other stores I've been to forget the sauce since I didn't order ribs. A+

Farnoush was an incredible server! We were greeted with a smile, she was so pleasant and attentive. The food was delicious as always.

Food was great, atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Farnoush did a wonderful job serving our table for my and my grandparents

Food was cold, counter person threw the bag on the counter, asked for butter was told it was in the bag no it wasn't. This is the second time I've ordered from there and the second time there's been problems! I want my swiss chalet on merivale back!

We went to the Carling Ave.location - best Swiss Chalet food, with great portions for an awesome price. Our server Farnoush was extremely nice and helpful. Best service!

It reminds me of when I was younger and took my mother here to her favourite restaurant great for older oriole but having said that we were here today with our grandson who loved the food our services was Farnoush who was great.

Absolutely awful experience, never recommend to go here. Started off with insanely long wait time, upwards of 10 minutes before even being talked to by any worker at all. Mouthy workers all of which don't care about their job at all and seem to be pulled directly from a tenth grade math lesson which put them in said horrible mood. Unless you enjoy cold food, long waits, awful service or if your a highschool looking to fill some seats, I heavily advise against not going to this swiss chalet.

Swiss Chalet is the best restaurant for BBQ chicken in the whole city! We were served by a young lady FARNOUSH who was extremely attentive and went beyond her duty to make sure we were very happy with our dinner. She made our evening a wonderful dinner experience and we will be back for sure very soon next week. Thank you FARNOUSH!

We've had two quite bad experiences at the carling location this fall. We will not be back to this location!

Ordered a big staff luncheon and Harsh one of the managers sure did deliver! All my staff loved the festive meal and were so happy to get a desert and scratch card as well!

We were at the Swiss Chalet location at 2164 Carling Avenue, Ottawa on November 25,2023 and were looked after by Maria. Her service was outstanding. We’ll definitely be back and will want to sit in her section.

Matthew was our waiter and he was great! Served us twice before and always works hard and makes us feel welcome.

1. Worse experience ever. Priority orders for sitting customers vices take-out. Still waiting for my order 50min +. Unknown how much long will it be…
2. The girls employees do not wear gloves: noticed employees chatting in their phones as well as scratching their face when packing orders.

Wearing disposable gloves can help Food Handlers from coming into direct contact with bacteria, viruses and parasites through their hands. They are also recommended when handling ready-to-eat foods so that bacteria and viruses are not transmitted onto the food being served.
