Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge

Small portions of food; chicken on waffle was small; waffle was hard and chicken is dry. Not a lot of salmon on Benedict. Maybe in this location only; will try other locations and compare.

We decided to visit this restaurant for lunch due to its diverse menu, and it was my first time dining here. I opted for their salmon salad bowl on this occasion. However, I found myself a tad disappointed with the dish as it lacked flavor and the portion size was relatively small. While the salmon itself was satisfactory, the accompanying vegetables in the salad portion were rather uninspiring, making it difficult to finish. The saving grace was the delicious teriyaki sauce drizzled on top of the salmon, although the fish itself was slightly dry.

While it's worth noting that the prices lean towards the higher side and the portions aren't particularly generous, the fact that they serve brunch all day still makes it a viable option. One aspect that stood out positively was the excellent service provided by the friendly waitstaff, who ensured that the food was promptly served.

Well, the appetizers set the mood for the evening. This chewy red chicken wing was a pretty bad start. We were on the side with bench seating, and the seats really could use some care; they're peeling and rundown, the whole restaurant could use some TLC. The service sucked outright, orders forgotten, inattentive staff. The dishes we had were largely bland and generic food, certainly not great. The best food our group had was the chicken and waffles, everything else was a big heaping of blah. Not bleh, just blah. Except for those raw chicken wings, those were 100% bleh.

Wouldn't return.

Amazing service with Patricia so funny and pleasant and good food. We had a large group that I’m sure was a lot of work but the staff here was so welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back again with family & friends. Thanks again for the exceptional service!

Really poor experience here today. Incredibly slow service to collect our order (I actually needed to go up and follow up on getting our server to collect food order) and slow to deliver the order. Needed to follow up again on the table service and bill. Food was not exceptional (missed details requested) and the prep area looked incredibly unclean (food on the floor and stomped on, messy counters, etc). Not worth the bill and would not return.

Great food and such a nice service from Patricia wow she was so friendly and made us all laugh. Thank you for the good times.

Went for Mother's Day. This place does not take reservations, so plan for a potential wait on a busy day like this.

Generous portions without being ridiculous, and the food was well cooked. I felt the eggs Benedict eggs could have used some seasoning and pepper but overall good and perfectly cooked peameal bacon. The fresh juice is also great, and perfect waffles.

We do not recommend the French toast with caramel bananas, the bananas tasted not freshly prepared and an unpleasant texture.

The server told us of computer issues and having to make manual tickets as well as being very busy so we understand why service was slow at times, but after ordering the food came pretty quickly. We have been here several times before and the food quality is very consistent.

Our meals were absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous. We truly enjoyed all our meals as we ordered an appetizer and a few entree meals. Service was exceptional over the phone and when we went to pick up our order, we received the same exceptional service. One last note, calamari is the very best that we have ever eaten! Thank you!

Update: All reviews are honest and I need to mention that the pricing has changed drastically within a week. We were shocked to see some meals go up by $4 and $5 which we were not expecting (disappointing). Keeping the 5 stars because the food is great but expensive for a family.

Cafe setting was like any other bistro.

We didn't order any wine but the final total was more than 90 which I think is a lot for a dinner for two.

Food was tasty but was a little bit on the bland side. Service was satisfactory.

Staff and food are amazing (Elizabeth and Maran) - especially at the Dundas location. I have been coming here for years and service has always been exceptional.

Very bad service and very bad meals. I don’t recommend this horrible place at all. The food is very low quality and the staff is rude. They accept guests above the capacity and take a decades to serve the order. I would never go there again.
Mr. Maren from the management contacted us to apologize for the rudeness of the supervisor at that night. So I thought it’s fair to re-edit my review to mention that. I consider this as a very professional approach from the management to hold accountability of the staff behaviour. Thanks for this. I assume things will get better in this branch with such management

We hosted a gathering for a retirement party recently at Symposium Mississauga in their beautiful private room. The Renaissance decor and the granite tables were sophisticated and perfect to honour our very artistic retiree. The food was great! Everyone had a fantastic time because of the wonderful, friendly service Keyana provided us. The manager, Elizabeth, was also so lovely and co-operative with the planning ahead of the party date. She also made time at the end of the party to come congratulate our retiree. From the moment we arrived to decorate, the whole staff was very friendly and accommodating with all of our needs. Thank you Symposium Mississauga for the wonderful evening. We will be coming again!

We come in every Saturday morning and our server Elizabeth always makes us feel welcomed and takes time to talk to us. The staff is amazing. The home fries are THE best.

Staff efficient, let us in after COVID certificate check, had coffee there, the place was acceptable and parking is available.

We ordered the Portuguese Chicken and Pork Schnitzel and thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The server was so friendly and helpful. A very enjoyable experience!

My food wasn't bad nothing special but the Cuban my husband had was phenomenal. Would recommend that sandwich over and over

Bad food, bad service, unhygienic place. Not recommended at all. Staff is extremely rude and have zero experience in hospitality industry. I don't know why this place is even open when these guys don't even want to work.

Our server (can't remember his name) was soooo nice. He provided us with amazing service! My moms ham was as salty as ocean water unfortunately was inedible or my review would have been 5 stars the rest of the meal was great.

Patricia is THE BEST server I've come across with!
She makes you feel very welcome, greets you with a smile and initiates conversation. She is so sweet and very hard working. Everything was nicely organized when we went there for breakfast today. Will definitely come back, thank you Patricia:)

Patio with girlfriends to welcome summer. Service was great. Enjoyed my sangria & super tender calamari. Weather got bad but no matter as we were sheltered. Great spot!

Disappointed. The Burger looked like a processed patty and it was burnt. The salad was soggy. The Eggs Benedict wasn't too bad and they did offer GF option. We ordered takeout but no cutlery or napkins were provided so we had to return to restaurant to pickup. I wouldn't order from them again.

The ok: the food, I can cook it better. Wife mentioned the food was always just ok in the past; Their pastry are what you come for (too bad we only did breakfast and never tried them together).

Food is cold and doesn't taste as great. The outdoor setting is nice but could be better by adding some flowers just like other Symposiums.

Tried broccoli cheddar soup, it was so salted, my mouth burns 30 min and a glass of water after I had it. Other food was overly salted too but not to the extent of soup. 2 stars for how quick it was.

First time here and it was wierd i guess. So i was told by the waiter that i cant have more then 6 in one table even though we came together. Well could be a place just for a couple but i dont recommend for groups and families. His reasoning was that its goverment laws due to Corona. And honestly i didnt like that person cs due to him giving us missinformation regarding us sitting together as a group and then we went in he said we cant do so.

Disappointing. I came today at 3pm, and the service was slow and I waited a lengthy amount of time for our food to arrive despite it being a quiet Monday afternoon. Our waitress was rude and didn’t follow any steps of service.

Eh, just ok. This place has so much potential. Same as milton location. Service was ehhhhh, food was ehhhh, just always seems like the food is luke warm and it's not the freshest. Their cakes however are always great.

I just finished brunch on your patio. The meal was perfect The waiting staff were attentive. All is good with the world.

This place is always top notch. If you're just there for coffee or a for a full-on smorgasborg with a dozen people they treat you just the same. Same high standards all around.

Food was good but was disappointed with the service. I ordered brie, spinach, mushrooms omelette and received my friend's lunch (spinach with feta omelette) and only noticed once we started eating. When the waitress was made aware of the switched plates, she insisted that we switch plates instead of replacing the meals. Upon finally replacing my plate with the correct order and receiving my bill, I was charged an additional fee for the spinach. In addition, during the drink order i asked for water but the waitress gave me the impression that coffee was included with my omelette so instead I ordered a coffee. However, upon receiving my bill I was also charged for the coffee.

I've had better experiences at other Symposium locations. The waitress was very pleasant and prompt. The manager unfortunately wasn't as helpful.

Excellent place. Beautiful ambiance.
However, could not find vegetables sandwiches on the menu. It seems that it was too difficult to make these and vegetables sandwich upon request too.
Cheese sandwiches were only cheese sandwiches without any garnish in the plate.

Went for breakfast with a group of friends. Reasonable price, comfortable surroundings and good quality food. Our "breakfast club" will be returning. Can't speak for lunch or dinner.

It was Sunday the restaurant was busy and we where a table of 16 or more. The wait time for our food was long. The server took our drink list and it took a while to get the drinks. Then she took the meal orders and it was about an hour before we received out food. The food was hot and very tasty.

It's ok. Decent atmosphere. Slow service. A little on the pricey side for what you get. Not my fav, just conveniently located to meet friends. Not my first choice.

Service is alright, no way unpleasant, but nothing impressionable. Food is alright for the price. I do love their vanilla steamer though.

Very dissapointing. I've heard good things about the place but found the food to be nothing special. However, i have to admit the ambience of the place was beautiful and vibrant.
We had the dinner for 2 and each dish was bland and boring (with the exception of the French onion soup which was excellent) - even the cake for dessert was stale. I spent over $120 for 4 of us with no alcohol and felt cheated.

I love the atmosphere here. I would come here just for the decor. The food is very good. It's a cute place for dates, birthdays, and celebrations.

Went there 1st time with my wife, for breakfast. Waited a couple of minutes to be seated then waitress came with the menu. She was very friendly and knowledgeable in the various special provided by the establishment, each day of the week. Honestly, to me, all this different specials on different days and between certain hours, was a bit confusing.anyway, we each ordered our breakfast and before I finished my coffee, the food was in front of us.
The food was good - I would say a 3 out of 5 - but nothing really out of ordinary. The eggs Benedict were good, eggs weren't over cooked - just perfect. But one thing that I found a bit unusual was that instead of 2 regular sized eggs, I had 3 really small eggs. Haven't experienced that before but it wasn't a deal breaker. Prices were good, pretty much about the same as anywhere else.
If in the area again, I'll definitely stop again.

Great at getting food orders accurate (which is difficult for a lot of other restaurants) and we're timely. The three stars is for the not one but two separate lip stick rings that came with my orange juice glass.

If you like good food, great service and a nice environment, then this is a place well worth checking out. My son took me their for brunch. I was a little disappointed that they didn't offer pancakes, but their Belgium waffle was amazing! It was served with fresh fruit and the bacon was cooked to perfection. My son got the poached eggs with smoked salmon, with came with a generous serving of home fries and bacon. He too was more than satisfied. It's a great place with a variety of items, I'm sure that something will pop out at you. The service was excellent! Definitely worth checking out!

Always delicious food great service and great accessibility for those who are impaired always such a joy to cohere especially with my very elderly grandmother who has mobility issues they always accommodate for her which is very much appreciated.

Great restaurant for brunch, but please replace your chairs they are AWFUL you feel like you are sinking in the char.

My daughter invited me there for dinner. Portions were generous and freshly made. We later order waffles and loved it. Great atmosphere.

It's hit and miss with this place. Service can be slow depending on servers and how busy they are. The food is usually good.
Today I waited 15 min.and had to ask Manager for a server to come by another 10 min.later with no apology!

Service was very slow. Once seated it was 5 minutes until we were greeted by our server, and at least a 20 minute wait for our food.

We used to visit all the time and we were very happy, but now I find that the staff cooking the food don't really care. Burnt english muffins hidden under eggs benedict. Burnt and dry omelettes where they flip it to the better side and pile on breakfast potatoes to hide the poor cooking. This is a review based on a few visits to this and the other Oakville location. Only positive is that the wait staff are always very friendly.

We went to their restaurant as it was near the pool hall and I have to say it was very disappointing in a few ways. The food was ok I had the veg burger my friend a salad but wow is the service and food slow.

The restaurant had 3people in it and it took over20 mintues. The server was polite but did no quality check and took forever to bring the bill. Another table was sat in the corner and it was pretty disgusting how she had to walk up to the server to ask questions. I would of walked out but for all those looking to eat somewhere save your money. The manadari would of been a better choice.

I don’t have any photos of this restaurant/cafe but the food is served pretty quickly and it’s pretty good. Bathrooms are on the same floor so no climbing stairs. Lots of Parking.

Drinks were accurate, but service was atrocious. Would not return. Inconsistent service, rude and condescending. Not worth your money or time. Avoid.

Food was good but I thought the prices were high for what you get. Service ok as things came out at different times. Overall a decent breakfast place
