I like the concept. I have no issue with the venue. I will say the following:

- Part of the omokase experience is talking to the chef. In fact, one of the reasons Japan based restaurants often don't like to seat foreigners is because they feel they are missing out on the social aspect as they don't speak Japanese. So, dining solo, it was just weird how little interaction I had with the staff. Like, dude, I just told you I've been to a bunch of Michelin starred restaurants in Tokyo for sushi and you don't have a single question?

- The rice is over vinegared which is why they recommend eating with your hands but, having said that, the rice shouldn't be falling apart if you prefer chopsticks.

Amazing food experience!

Forget what you know about typical rolls and enjoy this Japanese food at it finest.

I particularly enjoyed notate for the texture, aka ebi for the uniqueness (with pepper seasoning, worked so well), uni and o-toro for the taste, they were amazing!

Service could have been more interactive (considering the status of the place and the price).

Really overpriced for a few sushis. No table, no chair, you have to eat standing up and be on time.
Can't really understand the concept. Maybe some people will understand the concept but not a good fit for me.

Wouldnt recommend a DINING experience.

The whole "Tachi" concept is rushed and tense. There is no sense of relaxation and enjoyment. While I was chewing my last bite, with my drink unfinished, the waiter comes up to me and shoves the pay fob into my face and tells me that I need to pay and leave so that they can get their next rotation in. It wasn't a good feeling to be rushed out. Service felt rushed too, some people didn't get hand towels and were told to eat with their hands and some didn't even get water.

Sushi quality is also not that amazing. Everything was a bit too soft and mushy, almost all of the nigiri had no texture whatsoever.

The standing also doesn't help and is quite uncomfortable. They should renovate to a cheap and comfortable sushi joint and stop ripping people off with their sensationalism and exoticism that "premium omakase" presents itself as. The concept felt like it was designed to get the most people in and out, as efficiently as possible! Profit over customer experience, am I right! Stand and eat your food! 30 minutes is up, u need to leave NOW!

They also charged us the wrong amount. They charged 20$ for a 9$ beer.

I still can't believe I tipped them, and regret doing so.

Amazing Omakase. I have never been to Japan but I imagine that the experience would be like at Tachi. The sushi was very fresh, delightful to the palate, and each piece were so gorgeous to look at in awe. Leo was the sushi artist behind the counter making the pieces for us.

One nice surprise were the drinks that we ordered were on the house because they were behind with my reservations. We got in close to 30 minutes past my reserved time. We didn't make a fuss, but they removed the drinks off our bill and I felt that was very kind of Tachi. Speaks volumes of their treatment to their customers!:)

I will return!

An incredible dining experience! Toronto’s first standing omakase and the food was phenomenal. The chefs take the utmost care in making and explaining each piece of sushi.

Tachi was amazing. The staff was SUPER friendly and welcoming. My fiancé and I came here for my birthday weekend and enjoyed 12 different pieces of delicious sushi made fresh right infront of us. Would highly reccomend visiting here:)

It’s been three years since I was here last. The quality remains high and service was exceptional. There was a holiday party going on next door, so it was a bit loud and hard to hear Chef at times.

Fantastic value and the sushi chefs are entertaining and friendly even for a quick counter serve concept like this.

The food was really really good and it really only took 30 mins. An awesome experience overall.

Hats off to the entire team.

I have both tried dine in and take out at Tachi several times and to me this is the best sushi restaurant. It’s so nice to experience omakase here. The fishes and seafood always fresh. Chefs are very friendly and funny.

My favourite of all the time is scallops, tuna and uni:)

Mind-blowingly good sushi, best I've had. The whole experience was wonderful, our chef was so personable and skilled, will definitely return

This is a great, small place for omakase. It is a 30 minute stand-up place for 11 nigiri and 1 hand roll, reservation required with deposit for no-show. Around $70 per person, with 15% discount from 3-5 PM. Sister restaurant to exclusive restaurant Sushi Masaki Saito priced at $680 per person. Accessible by PATH and in prime location downtown.

The fish is extremely fresh from Japan, imported 2-3 times a week. The chef prepares it in front of you. The chef preparing our food was very friendly, explaining the flavours of each piece and making conversation. Best raw fish I've had - highly recommended. A bit on the expensive side if you're used to going to your average sushi place for rolls, but definitely value for omakase. A great place for a taste of high quality fish without spending too much.

Pretty disappointed in my last visit here. The overall vibe and food was so different from my takeout experience 2 years ago.

First, I’m pretty sure I got a chef in training (even tho she was nice) I wouldn’t have minded it but the sushi wasn’t to my liking. The pre cut fish was placed on rice that felt apart. The fish didn’t have the ‘omakase fish taste’ and just didn’t have much flavour. One of the pieces I could only taste the yuzu dressing, so what was the point of putting the shrimp on At least the rice was good. For that price point, it was not worth it. Also, looking at the other reviews I wonder why my pieces look different from theirs.

The service was alright but we were distracted by the employees at the front (we were the only customers there) talking casually in Chinese which we could fully understand. It just kinda ruined the vibe and made it unprofessional.

Food taste is really good and nice atmosphere. They have patio with heater facility. Hot spot in the downtown.

What. An. Experience.

We went for our anniversary as an intro to omakase. It was inviting, quick and it was amazing. Everything was so good we couldn’t stop taking about it.

We spent the entire walk home talking about our favorite pieces and how much we enjoyed all the different fish and seafood.

Would highly recommend, especially if you’re new to omakase!

Every year we came to Tachi since it opened at Assembly Chefs Hall. Every year Tachi is the 5 star restaurant in my heart. It was a place worth travel to. Todays experience was a disappointment. Noticed they changed all the sushi chefs that were here a year ago, it must contributed to the less in quality and standard. First, rice is a big component in Japanese cuisine. So it was disappointing to taste the rice today as it lack moisture, flavour, and was loose. Rice and fish ratio was off, I had to ask for less rice to balance the sushi flavour. Second, fish quality was lacking, not comparable to the fish a year ago. Uni sushi was not on the menu today, instead one small piece Hokkaido uni (less than 1cm) was served on ika sushi as garnish…. With the raise in price, I’m sure the management can source out different uni so they can put uni back on the menu. We were here also for the Far Yeast Tokyo White beer cuz it was memorable the last time were had it here. We asked for it, not sure if the hostess noticed, but she gave us White ale by Hitachino. It was a different taste. Change in administration, staff, changed the whole vibe of Tachi. Tachi is not the same anymore compared to a year ago. Hope Tachi can improve on hiring, training or bring back more experienced sushi chef and host.

Small standing Omakase inside a fancy food court "Chef's Hall".

It's around $70 pp and they offer a 15% discount between 3 to 5 pm but you need to be there by 4: 30 pm latest or they will not honour it.

There is a time limit of 30 minutes so depending on how fast you eat, it could feel rushed. My partner and I didn't have any issues with this though and it's actually great for those of us who are time poor.

Barring one item, the menu online was pretty accurate to what they served us. The quality of the ingredients was fantastic.really reminded me of my trips to Japan. They even had a photo of Tsukiji Market which brought back great memories!

Sushi was delicious and well prepared. Moderately priced compared to other omakase places in Toronto.

3.8 on everything.
Not too much expensive for omakasae style sushi. It is a bit unique style that u have to be standing up during you meal. The neta was quite thick making sure that u enjoy the deep flavor of the fish. Their service was super nice and friendly. Its always a good experience to go to a place where they descirbe their dish with so much passion.
The rice felt a bit different to me as if the rice was either undercooked or the grain was a bit bigger than regular rice which made the balance a bit off.

Definitely coming back to this place for a
special and unique experience.

Figure out a hidden gem for omakase place in the city. Fresh and high quality sushi are made by skilled chef. 30 minutes limit but it worths every seconds

The experience was unlike anything I’ve had. Growing up on all you can eat sushi, having proper, authentic high quality sushi blew my tastebuds. The overall experience of the chef making it in front of us was cool too, they were very friendly! Lots of unique flavours, would definitely come again!

Would I say it’s filling? Surprisingly yeah, and I eat a lot. But it’s not like double cheeseburger filling, it’s the kind of quiet and happy satisfaction you get after eating the right portion.

I would have liked to give this place 4.5 but it wasn't enough to hit 5 stars for me. The sushi I had during the omakase experience was some of the best, however, there were a good 3-4 pcs that were unimpressive. I can't say I enjoyed the full meal. The handroll at the end had components that overwhelmed the taste of the fish itself. I do recommend getting one of their teas, it was delicious and paired deliciously with the sushi.

Knowing this is a sister restaurant to a 2 star Michelin, I expected the quality to be decent. The lady chef who served us was covered in dandruff all over her shoulder and some on her hat which made dinner very unappealing as the chefs wore black. Not only but for every single piece given, she squeezed lime juice on it which killed the flavor for each. Disappointing. Spoke with the person at the front after dinner.

It’s not perfect. You can pay more for even fresher fish, but it’s plenty good for most people as is, and they do the rice very well. Can’t complain much given the price. Standing for 30 mins isn’t so bad.

The standing omakase experience was so unique and awesome! Fish was so fresh and delicious! The servers were friendly and were so quick with their service. Would highly recommend trying out this place.
