Tangerine Asian Cuisine

I used to love Tangerine, however today was very disappointing. The Fried Chicken on Fried rice was terrible. The chicken tasted like it was sitting in grease since yesterday, the Fried rice veggies clearly were frozen because they were colder than the rice. The spicy deep fried calamari was good in flavor but a bit chewy. Only good dish was the General Tso chicken. I think I'll stick to chili chicken and that's it.

Been going here for years.but since been in Brampton and family moved away from that area.don't get to go so it's been awhile. We were in the area so decided to go.

Granted with Covid prices have gone up.but when the portions go down by SO MUCH.it tells me to not come back! We ordered 2 plates between the 2 if us.normally we both eat and have leftovers, this time we finished everything and I was not satisfied. I was still hungry afterwards. Reason for 2 stars.as I mentioned we've been coming here for awhile, and we ordered 1 new dish on the menu (that we've had elsewhere) and one staple we like to get and the taste was also 'dummed down' on both. If the taste was there I'd give it at least a 3.
If in the area again, I may give them another chance.but if it's the same, review will stand and most likely not go back.

Found bugs in my food. Called to ask the employees and was gaslit. Would give zero stars if could.

WARNING: insect in food.

I ordered take out yesterday and as my family and I were eating there was a dead insect in the noodles.
This is the last time I will ever go to this restaurant. The manager, John, didn't seem surprised when I called to inform them about the issue and he just said "I can give you a credit for next time. " I don't know a single person that would return to dine here after finding an insect.

Looking at previous posts, this seems to be a reoccuring issue. Reported them to York Region Public Health.

Disappointing that's all I have to say, the food was expensive and quality of the care is definitely missing. My food lack taste and seems to be rushed

Have been here for dine in and take out several times. Although, still good the overall quality and quantity have both decreased.

I bought lunch special for my dinner and 2 of 3 rice dishes had a bad smell by evening. Definitely do not recommend take out here.

The supervisor lady was very rude and not friendly. We ordered 3 paneer Hakka noodles but 2 of the 3 noodles didn’t have any paneer. Very disappointed and would never go back there!
Instead of coming here, go to Hakka Legend. They have kind people and better tasting food.

Came here for lunch today after so long the food was subpar, but what really got to me was the cleanliness, the glasses were so dirty that we didn’t bother having any water after seeing the glasses, the Singapore noodles tasted like nothing more than turmeric. The fried rice was ok

Tasty, relatively inexpensive Hakka food which comes out quickly. Lunch specials are a great value, though prices have increased a bit lately (not surprising due to crazy inflation everywhere).

Taste was good but felt it's a bit overpriced as compared to the quantity. There are other Chinese joints which provide same quality at a better price point. Rest service was fast.

I used to go to the one in Richmond Hill on Yonge to support local. After going there so long I realized I need to get my hot and sour soup from other locations. Drove all the way to this one and got my fav soup. Very polite, they asked me what I want in my bag before handing it to me. Other location at richmond hill, I asked for napkin and female worker or maybe owner, looking at me saying he got it and not me! She pointing at the other male worker name Alex which is a very hard worker and nice guy. She couldn’t even get the napkin and handed to me and just laying back on the wall behind the cash. Thai location is the one to go from now on. Inside looked so busy one big table had like 15 students eating. Soup taste fresh and super delicious. I sometimes think of going to delete my good review on the other location but let it be.

I made a clear order for 2 chickens and 2 fried rice. The staff had messed up my order and did not give me rice but another chicken. I called to let them know about this and they were very rude and rejected any reason they could have been wrong. The lady on the phone said we can’t do anything about it and we won’t give you the order you wanted. This is very disappointing as I have ordered the same thing here couple of times.

I would give Tangerine Asian Cuisine negative stars if I could. Their food and service used to be second to none with the previous owners and management. Even after the new owners took over, it was bearable for a couple of years.

However, now in 2022, Tangerine Asian Cuisine provides the most pitiful customer service and subpar "food", if you can call it that. This establishment does not care about it's clients one bit, not even loyal ones like myself and my family who have been regulars at the Markham location, on a weekly basis, since it's inception.

Save your money, go somewhere that values your loyalty and treats you like people and not wallets. And somewhere that offers food that doesn't make you sick. Go to Hakka Legend or Federick; hell, go to McDonald's and you'll have a better dining experience than Tangerine could ever offer you. Buyer beware, it's no surprise they've been receiving an influx of negative reviews.

I ordered $50 worth of food asked for the extra sauce they refused quality and taste not like before

Spicy and flavourful food. This place has been a staple for years for a reason. Their dishes are spicy and flavourful. Egg fried rice, Bombay chicken extra spicy are some of our faves. Good for dine in or take out!

Worst customer service. Food is awful It used to be a good restaurant. This is the last time I visited today employees are ready to fight not worth.

This used to be the best and the only Hakka restaurant in this neighborhood. But then they started arguing about the quintessential green chillies and vinegar a few years back. My visits to them also dwindled proportionately. I stopped completely after one bad incident of them refusing to give extra green chillies after I ordered literally hundreds of dollars worth of food. I stopped completely for the past few years because great alternatives opened nearby. But the other day I was in the neighborhood and recalling past glory decided to order and try them again. Oh Boy! No idea how they are open! Bad attitude, bad service and frowning servers when you ask a question. Worst thing is food has deteriorated in quality so much that I would say even cardboard tastes better. And they doubled down on Green chillies n Vinegar stance. Now on ordering 120 dollars worth of food they said we charge extra for that! If there is any more apt example I have seen of penny wise pound foolish, I don't recall. No worries. Empires were lost for a lot less! You guys are still open and how is the surprise! That frown of that lady server when I asked a question about American Chop Suey noodles being ready made will something I will always remember. Good Luck! I hope you enjoy saving pennies on green chillies and vinegar whe making absolutely the WORST Hakka food in GTA!

Bad service, the person who took the order was looking not so happy to take our order and asking a lot of questions, Understand that would be their frustration. Food wise its kind of okay, but not that great and would never recommend their noodles,

I usually order from this place, and they have great food! However, from today's order I am very disappointed. We ordered 2 pineapple chickens, 1 fried rice and 1 noodle dish. The chicken and noodles were amazing. The fried rice is what ruined our experience. While I was eating the fried rice I found a bug. I'm really disgusted and overall disappointed. I won't be buying from this place anytime soon.

Service here is awful, the waitress! Asked for hot water with lemon said they gave to charge for the lemon! Chicken wings were not the best. The chicken pakora and chili chicken were not bad. The waitress needs to get a better attitude. But the guy was friendly.

I tried the vegetable fried rice and chili garlic chicken it's super delicious, it came with a soup, big portion for good taste and price.

I was disappointed. Before I could say anything the attendant rudely told me that waiting time is 45 mns. They not only lost my order which could be big but a customer with bad experience.

I ordered a few dishes and LOL the quality was very very poor. The chicken Pokara was over cooked and had way too many red chilli seeds. The chilli beef had way too much Sauce and tasted like boiled meat. We try to help small business by ordering food to support them but then The quality that we got was very poor and the food had to put away.

Me and my son went there for the first time and we were happy because we like Chinese food.it was really tasty and fresh with a big portion. We definitely recommend this place for take out and dining. We will be back soon.

Ordered about 13 lunch menu dishes for a work function. (Not our first time either) Not only did they miss 2 meals, but the taste of the honey garlic chicken tasted like fish as if they used the same pan/oil. Entire meals were tossed out due to this. When i called to tell them they missed two whole meals i was told i was to check my order before leaving.how can you when its all bagged up before you even get to the place. You’d expect them to have everything you ordered. Maybe if they werent so rushed over the phone or in person they’d get things right. Therefore i paid for something we never got and no credit was given. The lady at the counter was extremely rude as well for no apparent reason. You cant even order the lunch menu for delivery which would of been more convenient for us. I used to like this place, but the quality of food and service has definitely diminished. I do not recommend eating here anymore.

Horrible customer service, bought $50 of food couldn't get utensils and extra takeout boxes. I understand why there's 45 min wait at Fredrick's across the street should've just waited learned my lesson from now on.

I ordered 1x Crispy Ginger Beef, 1x Vegetable Thai Green Curry and 1x Manchurian Hakka Noodles. The portion sizes were good but the crispy ginger beef wasn't really crispy. The thai green curry was amazing but could have been a bit more spicier. It would have been nice to get complimentary white rice on the side but they don't do that anymore. We have been ordering from here for many years and it has typically been a good experience.

Terrible service, high prices and no steamed rice included. The lady at the counter seemed to be irritated that I came in to place an order. Does she think that is going to draw in repeat customers? Go to Federick's instead.

I am a regular customer at this location and new to writing my review. I never had an issue at this restaurant until today. I placed an order for take out and was speaking with Cathy (that's the name she had given, who worked today Saturday Dec 5th 2020 at 6pm), who was very rude and has zero customer service over the phone. She was very argumentative when asked a simple question and did not help in placing my order. "Cathy" says she got frustrated in taking my simple order, and did not want to take my order. Apparently she is the Manager who had to pass the phone over to her employee who was very helpful. I don't understand how this employee is a Manager who has no customer service but had to ask her staff to take my order. This got me frustrated as a regular customer who orders food over $60 and got treated really bad. I would give this restaurant 5 stars for the food, but 0 stars for Cathy (if that is her real name). Store Manager/owner, please train this person to provide better customer service, as customers are the people that brings you business.

Great hakka chinese place in the area, I prefer it than the other hakka joints in the area. Fried Rice, Chowmein, Chilli Chicken & Chicken in Hot Garlic sauce are my personal favorites, starters are good too. Large portion sizes, great quality and a very competitive price

Long story short (TLDR) : Confirm, confirm, confirm and Reconfirm your order and make sure you check when you pickup. Otherwise you (and your family or group) could be in for a surprise.

Not coming back to this location in Markham even though it's closer. Will stick to the Richmond Hill location on Yonge Street instead.

I didn't have a great first time experience at this particular Tangerine location. Ordered takeout today for a 5 person group lunch and clearly ordered 4 orders of Crispy Ginger Beef but was given something else instead. Our group only found out after I left and we all opened our lunches to the surprise. Too late as we have little time for lunch.

The phone ordering process seemed rushed and possibly error prone. I barely got my entire order in over the phone before the server wanted to hang up on me. Had to say "Wait I'm not finished. I have to order more. " several times before they understood. Even after repeating the order with the server on the phone, they still got in wrong in the end. I even left a tip with them at pickup since I've trusted Tangerine as a restaurant. To this location: Please take the time to listen to your customers.

Delicious asian and chinese cuisine, staff is courteous with good service. Manchurian rice are must try at this place.

We were disappointed with their service. Our order was served wrong because order taker was in hurry even though restaurant was not busy.there is no printed menu available so we had to scroll digital menu. They refused to change the wrong order. We will no go back there as we were very disappointed with food and their attitude.

I like this venue very much. It has a special atmosphere. The cuisine is marvelous.the service is efficient and the team is friendly. The cost is satisfactory. I highly recommend.

I got takeout - red curry. Terrible food. Could barely eat it. Didn’t eat the chicken cause it was barely like chicken, more rubber/fatty. Sorry guys! Regret going there

Taste of food is no longer an attraction here- recent take out of Chilli fish, Veg Manchurian, Chilli eggplant, House special chicken was a disaster. 19 km drive from Don Mills/Sheppard was not worth buying a hakka chinese at Tangerine Asian Cuisine. Sorry for your degradation.

It’s not halal they should have halal sign or certificate, when a Resturant doesn’t have it. It means it’s not halal

Such great service and tasty food! I came here to get take out and the food was ready in no time! The girl made great suggestions on what to get - I ordered their chilli chicken and manchurian fried ride, soooo yummy. I am coming here again for sure.

Living in Scarborough/ Markham area, this is one of the better Hakka places around in my opinion. Been coming here for years consistently the quality has stayed the same. Take out or dine in, never got bad service to be honest. Definitely reccomend if your in the area looking for some Hakka!

The lady working as a cashier is one of the rudest ladies I’ve ever met in my whole life. Although she seems to have experience in the food industry, she’s lacking in the manners department. I do not recommend buying from this place at all costs. Garbage service with garbage food.

My family and I had a horrible experience. Cups: Dirty, Plates: Dirty. We left before we even got the food. We just went to the Boston Pizza right beside where there was awesome staff. CLEAN PLATES and a tasty meal.

Food was good. Except for one discourteous waiter who made it a bad experience for us by making us switch our seats even though we refused becoz he was making us sit in the way of the door and when ppl walked in and out, it was really cold. He had no sense to fathom that simple fact and his answer was that the heater is on. We were forced to sit there for sometime but thankfully another waiter came and gave us a good place to sit. No apology or any kind of manners from the previous waiter. This was the most rude waiter I had ever encountered and I have been to many good restaurants in this city. Not going to visit this place becoz of this.

Let's face it. You guys have let yourself go in the years now. I came in for lunch and got chili chicken and a few other meat dishes. But they did not provide white rice? Strange. They now charge extra for rice. The size of rice is also very small. It's about the size of 25 cm3 approx 5cm by 5 cm.
I will never be going here again. The good old days of 2010 2011 2012 2013 are gone. They are slacking and cutting corners.

Fredricks will take you over at this rate. Only reason I came is cuz fredricks was closed.
Paid 30 bucks for chiken pakora, chili chiken and 1 white rice. Oh man. What a rip off it was. Even the chili chiken size was small. It was 1 cup chicken with 2 cups of gravy.

Greatly improved taste with lots of veggie options and fresh ingredients. Bombay panner and fried rice burst with flavour on your pallate and thier base sauce was yummy. Portions are for 2. Must try bombay panner, egg fried rice, veg balls in manchurian sauce.

Restaurant said take out would be ready in 15 minutes, got within 20 minutes and they still made us wait another 25 minutes to get our food! Staff found their mistake funny.

Every meal is cherished when it's served with smile, care and right taste. Time spent and tangerine was worthwhile. Dishes were amazing. We tried Veg. Hakka Noodles, Bombay chicken and Chilli chicken. Lipsmacking taste and worth the money. Thankyou Everyone.

I usually go to Tangerine in Richmond Hill and they are fabulous - great service, great prices, and great portion sizes. Went here with my wife and ordered the same thing as always and their portions were half the size.we were both still hungry by the end of it
