Great food and service but small portions and costly. There's also a number of non alcoholic beverages they serve that aren't on the menu (like coffee, sodas, and teas).
Disappointing dinner tonight! Quality seems to be down a notch. We ordered a bunch of hot dishes, wild caught fish, and the lobster paella. The fish and lobster didn’t seem fresh. The lobster tail served on the paella was mushy. When we questioned it, we were told that’s how it’s prepared …Dude! It’s obvious that the lobster is not fresh. We ate plenty of lobsters and never tasted one mushy like this. Also the wild fish looks good but no flavour. Disappointing! Been here many times, but tonight’s dinner is just not worth the money ($400)
Missing our amazing Tapas options! Lucky for us, we found @tapagriarestaurant which is about 15 mins away! Sooo damn good! Will definitely try the vegan gluten free mushroom and truffle paella next time.
This time, I ate the kale and cauliflower salad, patatas brava and broccolini with romescu sauce. Fantastic flavours!
Finally had a try the place out, went for dinner with a friend, we where seated in the back room behind the main hall it was nice more cozy in my opinion as the decor and high ceiling also give it some opulence, our server was great, started off with a sangria pitcher we order a bunch of things as she reco 4 to 5 tapas on top of our paella.loved the salmon tartare on toast good size and was delish, grilled octopus leg was okay tender but seasoning i find could have been better, white asparagus was nothing special can skip that, clam and chorizo stew was good the star of the show Paella carne asada with steak, steak was really good although i can only compare with the ones I had in spain i can say it tasted better over there lol.
Went there with a couple friends yesterday and we had a great time! The sangria pitchers are HIGHLY recommended and the set menu was a great suggestion by our server Chris. His service was excellent. Will be back soon:)
He also asked us if we had any allergies (which we dont,) which we thought was great in case we did.
The food was decent, but portions were rather small for what you're paying for. Also, the service was not very good. Our server was not at all hospitable and it felt like he did not want to be there. I was also concerned that half the restaurant was empty during Sunday dinner.
We recently hosted our office holiday party at this restaurant and we all had an amazing time. We closed out the restaurant, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the food was amazing. The owner and event manager were very accomodating. The place is very clean and well kept, very spacious and the ambiance was great. Highly recommend!
I do not post reviews.but if someone call this place Restaurant, I will call this person out Newer in my life eat something worst than in this place…. Bone marrow. I see a big bone…paella stick to the pan.and peace of pork meat left on the plate, nobody can eat…not even a descent salad $$$$$ for what?
Authentic Spanish food just like how it's done in Spain. Everything was delicious and attention to details. Every bite was a pleasure. My husband and I are foodies. Only very few restaurants deserve a comeback. This is definitely one of those very few. I was here last month & today. The friends that I brought along have also returned on their own. Highly recommends.
Good food and atmosphere, pricey and subpar service. Really depends which server you get as there’s one who is phenomenal. Unfortunately, we did not get him the second or third time. And that will likely be our last. Electricity went out for an hour when we were there for dinner. We were eating in the dark. No one came by to give us an update until 40 mins later and only then it was to ask us if we were in a rush because the credit card machines were down. I said we were and no one came by for another 15 mins. Owner even showed up but no apology until our table complained. Understand it’s not your fault (as you reiterated numerous times), it’s also not your diners fault but we had to eat in the dark, sit there for another hour and couldn’t even use the rest rooms. Very unfortunate and was not a great experience considering our bill was over $100 for 2. No discount. Barely an apology. Had to pour our own wine. Ask for water repeatedly. Owner: Save the attitude and Improve your customer service.
Decided to return to celebrate another birthday since the first time (pre-covid) was excellent. Thankfully, the food is still good! The only gripe was that the service could have been better. By 'service', referring to the organization / delivery, not on a personal level as the staff were all friendly and welcoming.
Reserved for a group of 15 but they only had 11-12 seats prepared. Water took forever as well and we even placed our orders before it came. With the first orders, it was pretty chaotic - given to the wrong people, etc. Gave more detailed feedback directly with their Event team so won't expand further here. Despite the rough start, things were smoother near the end. Happy they didn't add auto-gratuity because I'm sure there would've been arguments, lol.
Food was as good as remembered from our first visit. Bone marrow is sooo good - wish it came with more than 4 small pieces of toast though. Squid ink paella was our favourite among the others! Good portion to split between 2-3 big eaters or 3-4 small stomachs. The steak on the other paella was perfectly cooked. Steak tartare was also very fresh and tasty.
Considering the lack of options for Spanish tapas in this area, it's a solid choice and one you shouldn't regret!
This has been my favourite spot in Markham for about two years now!
For a unique experience, authentic flavours and exotic menu, you must visit this place!
Must-try items: Bulli olives, kale & cauliflower salad, chorizo, mushroom croquettas, and definitely the roasted bone marrow & Paella! * paellas require about 45 minutes to cook*
An office lunch on steroid, we are eight people, so we ordered charcuteries for eight, including a salad, that alone has made me full. Then came two paellas, one meat and the other seafood. All were deliciously and beautifully presented. The staffs were very accommodating, switching the big plates of paellas to other side. Certainly I will go back and bring my wife and friends.
Great presentation and service; I especially liked the Foie Gras Pintxo, Grilled Half Octopus and the Hamachi Crudo. The Paella was decent but there could have been more socarrat.
Really disappointing experience. Went here for the first time as we really wanted to try Spanish food and saw this come up in the area. The menu is very OVERPRICED and the portions are extremely tiny. We got a paella thinking it’ll serve 3-4 like it said on the menu but it was only good enough for two people. We don’t eat a lot so that’s says something
An almost completely enjoyable meal here with the food being quite good and the service being a little off in our opinion.lovely wood and iron industrialish space decorated with eye catching art.greeted by a young man that immediately came off as surly and uninviting.seated quickly in an almost completely empty dining room.our server was friendly enough, bringing menus and water right away.but as the meal progressed it seemed that his presence became more perfunctory and less visible.not in our opinion quality service.as for the food, we really enjoyed all but one of the tapas items we ordered, with the paprika garlic shrimp being the standout.plump shrimp that i believe had been grilled on a flat top tossed with garlic and copious amounts of (spanish?) paprika.these were delicious if a bit spicy, possibly from some red pepper flakes.on the high end price wise for the hot tapas which kept us from ordering more.all other items we ordered were from the pintxos or tapas portions of the menu.they do have 3-4 main entrees such as steak along with multiple preparations of paella available.we chose not to order paella as it takes a bit of time to prepare but the ones we saw on other tables looked and smelled delicious.first order of pan con tomate with manchego cheese from the cold tapas had nice sweet tomato flavor but suffered from an overabundance of the topping which made the bread quite soggy instead of just a light rubbing of tomato and a slight grill on the bread to prevent this.we have ordered this elsewhere and enjoyed the different preparation.next was a pinxto of serrano ham and manchego cheese, both of which were tasty but again the lack of a bit of heat on the bread made it just okay due to the blandness of said bread.our other hot tapas was mushroom croquettes which we liked very much.full mushroom flavor with a dollop of a tasty sauce-with i could have asked about it's ingredients-that complimented them nicely.great dish.the shrimp and seafood salad tapas were pretty good with both suffering from the cold bread problem and seafood salad being on the bland side.shrimp we very nice.last item was the truffle spread and manchego tapas.this was a miss for us.a too large amount of the really, really earthy truffle spread which was so strong as to overpower the flavor of the cheese.also caused the bread to be soggy.be prepared if you order this.a smaller amount of the spread would actually make this better IMO.would try again if in the area with time to enjoy the paella, hoping for a different service experience.
Loved the decor, brought me back to feeling like i was in Spain. Service was fast and friendly. Food portion for appetizers were a bit small for the price but good. The paella was delicious, seasoned well and portions were enough to feed 3 grown adults.
I highly recommend this restaurant! The food is delicious and takes me back to my tapas experience in Barcelona. The service is great, very spacious, and there's a room you can book for private functions.
In from out of town, and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The atmosphere and staff set the tone for what was a fantastic evening. Our server Chris was amazing, above and beyond in all areas of customer service. The food was delicious and delivered with care! It was lovely to dine and reminisce about our treasured time in Spain.
Excellent service from knowledgeable staff serving tasty food and wine. Noise level a little too high for comfortable conversation due to open plan design. Overall though, an enjoyable evening.
Food was adequate for its price. It's a good place to hang out with friends and family (may not ideal for young kids though, as it can get quite loud and restaurant does have a bar in it).
Service was really slow, but understanding it might have been on a busier night than normal.
Beef tar tar was good, quite standard. The seafood rice was lacking a bit in flavor, but we paired it with the garlic shrimp dish and used the sauce from there to bump it up a bit. Garlic shrimp was definately one of the better dishes on the menue, and the beef marrow was too. We also ordered churros. Those were honestly the highlight of the dinner.
That being said, overall, would say there are better Spanish places in town if you're really aiming for an authentic experience. However, if it's simply a regular Friday night to hang out with friends, it's not a bad option, good vibes, and good drinks!
This is the worst restaurant I have tried in 40 years. The server spilled a entire pot of hot water on our table. The kitchen missed one of our orders. Then the owner of the restaurant dropped a spoon onto my back when he walked past me with the plate full of food. The owner wouldn't leave me alone after I told him to leave me alone and backoff at least 5 times. Worst restaurant customer service.
This place is absolutely amazing, a great option for group events. They set us up for 15 guests and provided great tapas, paella and very awesome sangrías. A must if you love Spanish food. The service was amazing from everyone that helped us, including the booking. Thank you so much for helping me put up an awesome evening for a group of friends.
It's certainly an above average restaurant - good food, good atmosphere and the place is fairly clean. I personally would have like the food to be a bit more authentic tasting.some dishes were great while others were just average. Still, everything was fresh and well made.worth checking out if you have never been!
MOST TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE ON MOTHERS DAY READ ALL OF IT! Terrible dinner from beginning to end. Our waiter Ricky spilled cold water on the table which is nbd accidents happen but then he spilled BOILING HOT WATER all over our table and almost burned my mom. When we were finishing our dinner the owner dropped a utensil and it hit my dads back so my dad started wiping his shirt and the owner came back and gave us so much attitude saying it was unused etc even though he placed it onto the plate of wet mussels. He then came back again to show us a random spoon and said it was unused and basically insinuated we were making a big deal out of nothing. We shared the earlier disasters to him and not only did he not apologize, he continued to argue with us for five mins even thought we told him we didn’t want to talk and we asked him to leave multiple times. It was HARASSMENT at this point and he STILL WOULDNT LEAVE. Ricky came back to apologize multiple times but HORRENDOUS customer service, cocky and rude attitude from the owner. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY THIS PLACE IS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.
The first thing I noticed was the open concept design. There is a bar on one side of the restaurant and tables on the other. It felt like a mix between a casual restaurant and fine dining, which is not something I've experienced before.
Everything was delicious and offered unique, creative and fresh dishes. The staff was friendly, the decor was really cool and I would definitely come back here again.
We ordered the Duo Paella Menu for 6 which includes: Salmon Tartare (6) Foie Gras Pate (6) Kale & Sweet Potato Salad Charcuterie & Queso Platter Mushroom Corquettas (6) Patatas Bravas Marinara Clams Crispy Pork Belly Paprika Garlic Shrimp Paella Carne Asada Paella de Mariscos
Overall, everything tasted pretty good. The foie gras pate was a little too much but has a strong flavour. The salmon tartare, kale salad, garlic shrimp, marinara clams, and charcuterie board were pretty decent. The mushroom croquettes reminds me of a mozzarella stick but without the cheese. However, it was still very creamy. This set has 2 different paellas: a meat one and a seafood one. The seafood one was so much better and I highly recommend getting that one. My least favourite would have to be the potatoes. It was just fried potato pieces in spicy marinara sauce.
Came for dinner and was pleasantly surprised by the food experience here. Authentic food combined with a good ambiance and friendly staff made for a great dinner. We ordered a dinner set for 4 which was more than enough for 4 adults. The octopus was huge and quite tasty. The garlic sauteed shrimp was really flavourful. Paella was amazing and tasted great. The price is a little on the pricey side but I felt it was worth it. The food here is more for adults rather than children. I would highly recommend the food here.
Our server was very helpful and very polite, All the food was amazingly delicious. Broccolini + Romesco and the Mediterranean seabass were the highlights. I wish they were open for lunch during work week.
We had Dinner; Foie Gras Pate, roasted Bone Marrow and Paella de Tapagría For Drink, Grapefruit sour & soft pop
It was my first time to have Foie Gras Pate, but it wasn't my best pick. We really enjoyed roasted bone marrow. It sounded like a medical term but the tasty was really good (highly recommend!)
For Paella de Tapagría, we found that The seafood looked like it had been frozen before cooking. The reason was that when we ate it, we found that there was some water. We thought it was water made for cooking, but we found out while eating that it was water made from seafood. Maybe it's good food for those who don't know what paella is, but it's probably not a good menu for Asians who have eaten a lot of rice.
These folks are AMAZING. I have been a customer of Tapagrias for a number of years now and whether you dine or order their food, it is always on point. Their paella is well known but other menu items such as the pork belly really stand out. They have a wide selection of flavors for different pallettes and it's one of the few places uptown you can order seafood from and expect top quality.
It's not often that you can find a place where the dine in experience is excellent and then also order from them and receive the same quality, but this group really pulls it off. I have literally nothing but the best things to say about them.
If you're around York Region (or even if you're not!) you'd be totally missing out if you dont stop by Tapagrias.
