Tapas at Embrujo

Now, Tapas at Embrujo is on my favourite restaurant list!

My favourites are Boquerones, Gambas and Solomillo al Whiskey (I hope I spelled right? !)! I had dined at Tapas at Embrujo 4 or 5 times so far.
Well, this time, I tried the SPARE RIBS. Wow! It was the best ribs I ever had! You must try their ribs, especially if you are tired of regular spare ribs with ordinary BBQ sauce.

There is a fantastic flamenco show on Friday and Saturday (you don't want to miss that!).
I have never been to Spain but feel like I have after dining at Tapas at Embrujo!

Great experience! Enjoyed the small shareable dishes with my husband. The food was excellent and loved all the flavours! Cocktails were so yummy and the service was excellent. Would definitely come back.

The food was absolutely amazing-So flavourful and fresh. The atmosphere was great, along with the performances. Definitely would recommend this gem to everyone that enjoys Spanish food and seafood.

If I could do 0 stars I would and it would be for the terrible terrible service we got. So much attitude for no reason with our red head server and the paella was burned at the bottom of the pan and left us scraping for our food. Came there with high expectations but very disappointed with food and service overall.
The only good part of the whole dinner was the dancer Maria.

What a great experince. Great good, service, entertainment under 1 roof! We had th Bomba paella, seasoned olives, chorizo and bread.

Nice idea but the food was very expensive and really salty. Everything we had was over-salted. Dinner for 2 (1 main and 3 apps, no dessert) with a basic bottle of wine and tip was $211. Yikes! Flamenco performance was great. Very authentic, talented performers. Service was great too. But we were disappointed with the quality and price of the food.

To preface, I’d like to think I’m reasonable, willing to offer the benefit of the doubt. I try and look for the best in restaurants. That said…what a disappointment.

The staff was lovely, the ambience was cute, and that’s about it…

We ordered a vegetarian paella. When it arrived at our table, the food was hot enough…but it’s best when it arrives sizzling. This lets me know that the dish had been waiting in the kitchen for a while. The restaurant wasn’t very busy so there shouldn’t be any reason as to why the food was getting cold. For 40 or 45 dollars, it was a small portion, kind of dry. Very few vegetables, and rather salty. Also our cocktail was a bit watery.

The live flamenco was a fun touch, but I’m rather disappointed. This is a selling point for your restaurant and the performers were out of sync, dynamically unbalanced, and lacking intention. I loved the timbre of the singer’s voice and some of the dancing was very beautiful. As we approached the end of the performance I got a bit more of a spark, a presence from the her. I have hope that with a bit more practicing that this could be a lovely act, but until then you really shouldn’t charge for this…

I would have let it go, but the owner kept arguing with the reviews on this site. Claiming authenticity and quality…I don’t have anything to say about authenticity, but the quality…instead of listening to and addressing what seems like pretty consistent critique; that there’s issues with food quality, food shortages, longer than necessary wait times, he replies with very (passive) aggressive comments.

“Why didn’t you say the food wasn’t good? We would have fixed it. ” A) This suggests you’re well aware of the issues customers are consistently having with your restaurant and don’t care enough to fix them. B) These reviews ARE telling you now that there are issues with the food. If it takes an HOUR for a paella to be made shoddily and I send it back, then that’s a potential two hours of waiting for a supposedly improved meal. C) Why is the customer’s fault that you are consistently producing dishes that are below standard?

I understand that it’s difficult to put aside your pride and accept that there are issues with your restaurant, but the owner’s attitude towards customers providing constructive critique left an awful taste in my mouth. If you’re going to tell me how great the food is, at least back up your claims with quality.

Food was good however portions are a bit on the smaller side. Flamenco show was excellent but a bit short.

A little pricey, but top, top quality.
I had the steak, which was the best I ever had in m life. The shrimp, bread & mushrooms too The brilliant Chef creates miracles.
I recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.

We went for my wife's birthday party, group of 10, everyone loved the food and atmosphere. The service was great as well. A great experience

I don’t know how I haven’t been to this restaurant before. The tapas at Embrujo are outstanding. I’m a Spaniard foodie myself and I love cooking so I can assure you that if you want authentic Spanish tapas and ambience, this is the place to go.
The stuff and the food is just awesome. The flamenco show that Maria Serrano runs on Fridays and Saturdays is fantastic, you will feel transported to what is to me the heart of flamenco, Andalusia.

The food is really good, we got Gambas al Ajillo, boquerones, goat cheese with honey. We had to repeat on the bread, it's so good. But the best of all the Solomillo in Whiskey sauce and fries. That's something else, would love to go back just to order it again. Next time I'll be back on a Friday or Saturday to enjoy the flamenco show.

Best Authentic Tapas! Their bacon, honey and almond tapas is outstanding. Each dish is packed with flavour. Along with the flamingo performance you get hypnotized by such a powerful performance. I have been coming here for 7 years and it never disappoints.

The food was amazing, atmosphere and service was top notch. My only complaint was I wish I had more time to try all the dishes!

Service: 3, understaffed and the servers forgot about the entire section. Customers had to go look for the staff for assistance multiple times.
Food: 0. Poor presentation, way too much salt, ordered the steak, no one asked how I wanted it, arrived it was super tough. Found a piece of hair in my desert. I hate wasting food but between my health or wasting, I had to left 80% of it untouched.

I went here last night for Summerlicious with friends. We made a reservation for 5 people and 2 people in our party were unable to make it. We were running late and called the restaurant to let them know and advise of the change. When informed, the male who answered said "wow" and said goodbye but no further follow up. At the end of the night the server advised us that we would be charged $23 for each person who did not show up. The restaurant was busy but not full and no one walked in without a reservation while we were sitting there. We arrived at 8: 45 pm. The server advised this was the decision of the owner who would not come out and speak to us about the matter. The food was good, but the service very slow. They also charged a $5 entertainment fee. I was very disappointed with the experience.

My son and I dropped in this evening before seeing a show at the Danforth music hall. Beyond impressed with the attentive service and the fantastic food. Lobster croquettes, shrimp, amazingly fresh bread and wonderful paella!
Will definitely be back! Thanks guys!

My husband and I had a great experience here. The tapas were perfection, especially the lobster croquetas and the anchovies on warm bread! Yum. Our server, Yota, was fantastic, personable and made great food recommendations

Stopped in because my date had a craving for paella. Being Spanish I decided it would be wise to have her do the ordering and I did not regret it.

We started with oxtail croquettes, warm goat cheese with honey and herbs, and an octopus dish called pulpo, served with paprika infused potatoes, each of which were excellent.

We followed with a shared main called paella bomba (I think) with chicken, mussels, chorizo and shrimp.

We also shared a bottle of Spanish wine, Gran Fuedo, which our server suggested. At $59 it was very good quality and good value.

We shared an almond and lemon cake for dessert.

Quality food, smooth service, and a lovely evening all around.

We also discovered that they have a flamenco show on Fri/Sat, so we will definitely have to check that out!

Just wanted to add that I did go back for a second date last Friday, mostly to see the Flamenco show, and it is the best five bucks I have ever spent.

Yes, the food was excellent, yes, the service was great, but the performance transcends all of it.

This place is the real deal.

Delicious food and even more delicious Sangaria! Strolled into this venue on a Saturday evening and had really great food as well as being treated to the Saturday evening entertainment (Flamenco Dancing!).
Lost one mark because the food procession was a bit crazy. Totally understand the style of Tapas means that each small plate comes out when it is ready, however we usually had 1 random plate on its own and had to wait a very long time for the bread and patatas plates. Basically we had to have our chorizo and meats first and it was 40mins for the appetizers style plates. Service was very slow so not the best option if you are very hungry!

I went to this place on a Friday night in June of 2022. The food was great and the they had also great Flamenco life performance. Our server was also excellent. I highly recommend it

We loved every minute of it! Starting from the amazing tapas, delicious mango mojitos and lovely ambience, We could have not chosen a better place. We were welcomed by Yota, who made us feel right at home with her friendly personality and amazing customer service. Thank you for making it an incredible experience! We will be back very soon for their paellas.

Unfortunately, the most food we received seemed to be from the Loblaws around the corner and both of us felt very sick (my partner even throwing up) after we'd eaten there. We had some artichoke hearts, a cheese board and the octopus. We suspect it might have been the octopus which seemed to be the only thing made in house

I didn't realize there was live entertainment there, which is my fault, I guess I should have checked. Unfortunately, the music was far too loud for the small space, and when we tried to gracefully exit we were told that they did not bill out during the show. I didn't mind paying for the music, but it felt very odd that they would trap patrons there. I felt like a prisoner at the table?

The food over all was very pricy for the portions and for clearly not being made in house. Two stars because our waitress was very nice.

The Sangria was amazing and came with blueberries. The tapas were fresh and delicious, highly recommend the olives and blue cheese and spinach croquettes.

The prices of these Tapas are definitely reasonable, with some as low as $6 and others up to $14. There's a large variety of choices from chicken to squid ink ravioli. The drinks are the star though - the pear drink was out of this world. Definitely a great choice for tapas downtown Toronto!

Awesome place. Been there several times now. Food is great and some nights they have an incredible Flamenco band with a very talented female dancer and singer.

Amazing food and service! Ordered the Travelzoo 'dinner for two' deal that included a litre of sangria and your choice of 5 tapas and 2 desserts from the menu. We ordered the papas bravas, tortilla de patatas, sauteed mushrooms, steak frites and baked goat cheese. All were delicious; the mushrooms and goat cheese were especially good! For dessert we got the lemon almond tart and the chocolate cake, which was their special of the day, and they were also very good. Portions were way larger than expected! 4 tapas would be more than enough for 2 people. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Can't wait to go back!

Hola Toronto! I’m pretty new to the city and just got around to have an exceptional culinary experience at Tapas at Embrujo! I’ve been catching a show or two over at the Danforth Music Hall and when in line, pretty long one at that! I always see these lovely place with great atmosphere, food, and sound! What can I say? From the refreshing and fruity Sangrias to the Sweet and succulent Datiles con Beicon y Almendras and the Solomillo con Salsa de Mostaza! These tapas will leave you wanting more and screaming Ole! You gotta have seconds! If you’re a Paella kind of guy like me! Don’t pass up the Paella Valenciana! It’s got it all and more! Folks this is the best thing to a Spanish vacation as you’re gonna get! Thanks to Philip for taking good care of me! Hats off to Chef Jose! Seriously! Being from the UK and all and spending lots of time in Spain, this was such a treat! Oh and if you like Flamenco dancing, be sure to catch the show around 8pm during the week! Maria and Jose light it up for the crowd! Olé! I’ll be back soon! Tony

We had a great time at Tapas at Embrujo. We came here on Sunday for tapas and a flamenco show. The food was nice and they even had some original quality Jamon and a veriaty of Rioja wines. The show was also entertaining and reminded us of our time in Barcelona. Over all it was a good experience.

Read ALL the fine print if you have a voucher. Service was friendly, food was ok. Spent alot of time navigating all the exclusions from the Travelzoo voucher. Example - two glasses of wine are included.we couldn't find on the voucher that it couldn't exceed the $8 category (which had very limited options). We wanted to pay the difference to upgrade.this is not allowed. Review the menu options online, review the exclusions beforehand and you'll have an easier time with nice service.

I can't say enough good things about this place! The food is delicious and timed perfectly. The atmosphere transports you to Spain but the incredible Flamenco dancing will take your breath away and leave your heart full. Highly recommended.

I have travelled extensively through Spain over the years and the food on offer at the restaurant is so far from being authentic Spanish cuisine that its laughable. The food is bland, greasy and clearly the 'chef' has lost his passion for it. Furthermore, when looking for the bathroom I accidentally stumbled into the back room and kitchen, I quickly turned around but from what I glimpsed, maybe a little spring cleaning is in order? A poor night out and a poor venue. If youre looking for decent Spanish food. This is not it.

We have eaten tapas frequently in Spain. This restaurant's tapas dishes were disappointing. A few pieces of beef on ordinary french fries for two dishes that were almost identical, except one had a drizzle of a mustard sauce on it. Chicken dish really unappetizing. Little pieces of chicken in a bowl of spicy oil. Dessert flan was the best part. Only saving grace was the Flamenco guitarist and dancer who gave a short, but spirited performance for an almost empty restaurant. Really regretted purchasing a TravelZoo coupon for this one. The total cost with coupon, tax and tip was $100.

We went to dinner last night before our show. The staff were friendly and made recommendations that were delicious. The sangria was the best Ive had, and we shared the Paella Bomba. It was amazing. We definately recommend this restaurant. The customer service was outstanding.

Love the fact that there are still some live music venues in T. O. We enjoyed our date night my partner and I here last Saturday. The Flamenco show was unique and the Tapas where wonderful. The fact that it’s located right beside the subway station was convenient a we didn’t have to worry amount enjoying some wine and cocktails

We found this restaurant through a Travelzoo voucher - with the coupon, it was good value for what we got. I don't know that we would come back and pay full price.

The presentation of the food isn't as expected - if you order chicken, all you get it tiny pieces of chicken in an oil-based sauce. Our server suggested we order bread to go with it, so we did. Except the bread didn't come out for about 30 minutes because they apparently kept burning it?

We had two waiters which was a bit chaotic. One would come to take our order, then another would come to ask how everything is, then one would come and ask for our dessert order but we had just given it to the other one. Not sure why this happened. Both were friendly, so that's good.

It's a small restaurant which should be charming, but there are about 10 wait staff and they all stand at the bar watching the patrons which is a little odd.  

The show was cool, the performers did a great job!  

Being right on the Danforth, this restaurant has potential and the food is good but they really need to smooth out the process to compete. Also a lot of the 5-star reviews here are not reliable (seem paid) so take them with a grain of salt.
