Taste of Philly Cheesesteak

The owner is the kindest person I met and the philly cheesteak was amazing. So much love and care is added to the food and it shows. Definitely going back many times! This is a local gem!

We are regular customers of this establishment and love the Philly cheesesteak sandwiches. The buns are soft and the flavour is impeccable. The service is also exceptional. Worth of being expanded into a franchise. Don’t miss out on this amazing gem in KW!

Nice owner, but unfortunately not great food. I had the gyro and the Philly cheesesteak. Both had mushrooms in them (even though I requested no mushrooms) which was not a major mistake but definitely ruined the meal as it meant I had to pick through both items to remove them.

The gyro had next to no meat, and was mostly bulked up with lettuce. The Philly cheesesteak was about $20 with tax and was just not that tasty, especially for the price. For a place that specializes in these sandwiches I expected so much more.

A place that knows its stuff and knows it well. The owner doesn't shove options down your throat, just simple suggestions, and if you want your own thing, he's happy to oblige. Excellent pricing, too! One of the last places in town that comfortably feeds two people for ~25 dollars. (One sandwich is massive enough to split unless you're starving, then you might want one each) Fries are also pretty solid, and all ingredients taste spectacular! Highly recommend, better than other cheesesteak options in the neighborhood. There's free parking nearby on the streets, and you can also try Jack Burgers parking lot (paid parking), which is free on weekends. Dine in is great. Take out is as well. The filling steams the bun on the way home and doesn't get soggy, just nice and soft/tender. Local legend!

Went there for the first time today and was greeted by a very nice gentleman who suggested I try the house special, the Philly cheesesteak. I was not disappointed and I will be making my return. The food was flavourful and tasted very fresh

Got the chicken breast pita for only 6.49 which was such a steal and tasted great. My friend got the Philly cheesesteak which was a bit pricey but looked really good. The owner was super friendly and personable as well - we’ll definitely come back again:)

Was in the Kitchener area visiting family and friends. This is one of two places I HAD to eat at. After being away for 9 years, I walked in to a smile and hello from Matthew the owner. The food is bar none the best Philly Cheesesteak around. The restaurant is very clean and the ingredients are always fresh. Looking forward to the next time I’m in the area! Thank you Matthew, it was nice seeing you again.

Friendly service. Ordered a cheesesteak and got a chopped hamburger on a bun. With a pop it cost $21. A little expensive for a burger and a pop.

A fantastic lunch at a reasonable price, with friendly and kind service in a very clean space. Freshly made with sautéed veggies, takes 10 minutes. So worth it. Chicken pita special is very delicious.

Great spot! Not sure which is better, the owner/operator or the food (and the food is excellent). Just make sure to bring napkins.

Tried the Philly cheesestake. It was good but lil on the pricy side around $17. And the hot sauce ain't really hot

I've been to Broad St and had a real Cheesesteak hoagie. This was pretty close. The frozen fries were way overpriced. But good Hoagie.

HERE'S THE INTERESTING PART.

I watched the owner lose his cool on a customer (a young teenager) for no apparent reason. Then in an almost manic state, turned his mood in a 180 to serve me. It was like a Seinfeld episode.

Then he was trying to explain to me how to eat the hoagie. I had a very tough time comprehending what I was witnessing. Then I read the reviews. If you want some entertainment, read the negative reviews. You'll see what I'm talking about.

OK, so first of all, the owner is the nicest most polite person you could ever deal with. Then we get to the food. Reasonably priced, great portion size and delicious. Will return for sure.

Great food. Fresh ingredients, quality meats and cheeses all prepared by people who take great pride in what they do.

Friendly people, a VERY clean restaurant and GREAT food. Wraps, subs and the hidden secret the best burger in Kitchener. Well worth the time and effort to go downtown for.

Vegetables were fresh and crispy, meat was delicious, lots of sauce.

Best Philly steak in Tricities. It's really worth waiting extra couple mins or spending extra couple dollars.the sandwiches are huge, he can barely close the bread on a foot long sandwich so super generous portions. He uses really high quality sirloin steak, always fresh vegetables. I'm craving one as I am writing the review.and cleanliness of the business is always pristine.

I visit Mathew weekly because his food is extra good. He puts generous portions of fresh everything in his sandwiches, wraps and all else.

Im a regular at this place. Needless to say, they have very delicious and flavourful food. Tried a variety of things on the menu and was impressed by each and everyone! Owner is very kind and attentive and truly wants each of his clients to enjoy his creations.

Great food. Don't waste $7 on fries. They're frozen and way overpriced. But the wraps are fantastic although there was no cheese on our Philly Cheese wraps.

Matthew has been doing fantastic job not only on sandwiches but also customer relationship as well.

We had a birthday lunch at my work and ordered their food to our office. The food was delicious, the toppings were fresh, and both the sandwiches and the salad were large portions. We had a large order, and they were very professional and made sure everyone got exactly what they ordered. I definitely recommend giving them a try!

What an absolute surprise finding this place. Matthew is an artist with his food. He takes so much pride into his creations. Delicious! He’s also a delight to speak with. Such a good heart and beautiful soul. He made me feel so incredibly welcome and reminded me of what human kindness is all about. Left with a full belly and a full heart! Go give him a try. Matthew accommodates any taste will add or subtract things from the standard to make you happy with a smile on his face.

My husband and I got ourselves a sandwich each - sirloin steak and smoke Montreal meat. Best decision ever. Not only was it super filling, every bite of it was tasty. The freshness of the vegetables and the smoky flavours of the meat sure made for one of the best Phillys I've had. Kindly note, the prep time for the 2 sandwiches was a lot compared to other sandwich joints but just witnessing the care, dedication and patience with which our sandwiches were made sure added on to the flavour. Definitely visiting it again soon!

Way over rated and over priced. The guy who works there is very nice but honestly the sandwiches are not good. The bread to meat ratio is way too disproportionate. Additionally the bread tasted stale. The meat used was bland and tough. Overall it was disappointing.

Can't believe I've never eaten here before. My husband brought food home tonight - sandwiches, fries & caesar salad. Everything looked amazing and tasted fresh and delicious. I thought the eating directions on the bag was a nice touch!
Sandwiches were beef cheese steaks and pretty hefty - lots of meat, melty cheese and sautéed veg. Bread was super soft and fresh. Fries were chunky and obviously fried in fresh oil. The salad was incredible. My 4-year-old son asked for seconds, then said "I love this salad! " That's a first. Not your typical caesar - it's so much better. The dressing tastes house-made and the sunflower seeds are a yummy addition.
Kudos to the chef for focusing on a menu of a few key items and making them right. Looking forward to returning!

Walked in for their 4.44 euro special as my first experience, expected something worth 4.44, got something worth $12 in my eyes. As others have mentioned, hearty, delicious ingredients and amazing bang for your buck. I remember watching his demeanor as he cooked the food, and he seemed like someone who really enjoys what he does, a rare sight recently. After coming home and reading the reviews, i’m not surprised with my judgement at all. You can see and taste the passion in his work, he is an extremely well mannered business owner with the right idea of what people actually want in food service. If you havn’t already, give this place a try, I cannot imagine what their cheesesteak tastes like at this standard. To the owner, thank you for being a genuinely kind soul, it doesn’t go unnoticed, and I wish you success!

This is place is amazing! Got the Montreal sandwich sandwich which was probably one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had and the Philly cheese sandwich which was also unbelievable! Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

The only place I have seen that serves turkey bacon instead of hog meat. Also I like his Gordon Ramsay style of attitude in the reviews below. People go in to buy a 4 dollar sandwich and complain that it isn't a Michelin star restaurant or that it doesn't taste like the time they went to Philadelphia. Yeah I would respond to these clowns the same way. Keep up the good job, there is tremendous value and honour in what you are doing.

Went in for a pickup today, literally the best cheesesteak in all of Ontario hands down, the owner is also very kind and I had a really nice chat with him a bit before closing hours, extremely hard working and everything is fresh.:)

If the amazing food wasn't enough to keep me and my friends coming back, Matthews attitude alone would be. I can always count on being greeted "Hello friends" when I walk through his doors. It's heart warming and so refreshing to see the pride and passion he has for craft. I've been a regular for years now and I'm hooked for life.

Me and my girlfriend each had a Philly cheesesteak for the first time ever. This was such an amazing place to get one. You can really tell how much this guy cares about his customers enjoying their food. He doesn't skimp out on the toppings and happily offers more. My sandwich was absolutely stuffed full of fresh ingredients and it tastes amazing. Would definitely come by again.

Unreal sandwiches and the owner is the nicest guy, always remembers my brothers name and order when we come in. Got to support a guy who just likes to make great food.

Food is amazing worth the price everything prepared in front of you so worth the wait! And the guy is super nice only thing I can complain about is they don't accept credit but it's not that big of a deal

Food is excellent. Have never had an issue. Always got the Philly cheesesteaks and they were great. Recently talked to the owner about Montreal steak and tried it. It was one of the best Montreal steaks I have ever had in all of Kitchener. Fantastic! Owner is super friendly too.
