This place has great sushi. I’ve been a number of times for dinner and they’re really great. A lot of all you can eat sushi places often forget or just flat out don’t bring some of the order but Tatami is pretty accurate. Sometimes the order in which you get stuff is weird but it’s whatever is ready first I guess. The wasabi is also pretty nice. Not sure if they make it in house but it’s got good flavour!

Didn’t visit this place in sooo long due the pandemic! I went there this past weekend and it is still amazing. Best sushi EVER!? Aldo very nice staff

The food is fresh and fast! It just keeps coming and coming. Plus the quality of food is superb! We eat here twice a month and they have never disappointed us. The best experience though is not from the food, but the service provided by their staff. So the overall experience is above and beyond compared to other Japanese restaurants.:)

EDIT: I wrote this review 3 years ago. It's not the same. Disposable plates, and stale food. Bleach spray to clean the tables that absolutely reeks. Dissapointing. Used to be a great restaurant.

What happened?

This place was great before the pandemic. After they re-opened they had no more AYCE, and as the other reviews are saying the food now comes on styrofoam plates. Go to Osaka Sushi near if you want a proper experience. I think they might be a bit cheaper as well.

Their AYCE sushi is amazing. I love the sushi and ambience is nice as well. Sometimes there can be a little bit of wait time. Customer service is awesome and servers are very nice. Really love their shrimp and yam tempura. Redbean/matcha icecream is also very good.

Every bad review you read is true.this place use to be so nice its just not what it use to be.foods stale, rice was off white, didnt taste like sushi. The dinner price is still the same if not more expensive and the menu is about 1/3 of what dinner use to offer.some good OG staff but i have no nice words for the lady who brought most our food out.we were seated in an empty restaurant right by the back almost as if it saves them a walk from the kitchen, and its a really awkward place to be since all the staff stands at that corner speaking their language. We felt uncomfortable bc they could hear us just as well as we could hear them and we had nothing but bad things to say about the food.our beef ribs looked watered down and soggy, we can usually go through dozens but we left the whole plate. 1/10 food and taste wise.the styrofoam everything was also a super sad dining experience.

I used to come here all the time during the last few years and the quality of the experience has gone down since the restaurant first opened. The food is still good, but the ambiance and service has taken a hit.

I understand that many businesses have been hit by COVID-19. But, I feel that the decline in ambiance and service began before the pandemic. Recently, they have been using only styrofoam plates and disposable utensils for, I guess, COVID-19 safety? However, reusuable plates and utensils would be: a) more classier and b) safe if they were washed properly with soap.

I also felt that the ambiance suffered due to the staff. The waitresses just stood in the corner of the restaurant talking while the customers eat. It feels a bit unprofessional.

Other than that, the food was good. Just the service and ambiance were the issue.

Food was not that great for the price. Tasted like it was frozen and not freshly made. They serve food in paper plates. The waitresses were rude and had an attitude.

Horrible experience! The food was stale. Nothing seemed fresh. The hostess (assuming the owner) was very impolite. Had to stop eating halfway because everything had a weird taste. The rolls had a weird color. The beef was not fresh. Suffice to say I will not be returning.

Order for pick up. Terrible Customer service. Called the restaurant and ask if they can hand me my order outside in the car because it was pouring rain outside and I have my baby in the car. The person that answer the phone said “that is not my problem you need to pick up my order inside” I was disappointed that I get no help. But you cannot please everyone. Pick up my order and get home in 5 minutes. The beef was not fresh salmon sushi is full of tempura batter. The salad dressing was mixed with the salad already (take out should be separate) Miso is not hot. My fried dumplings taste sour. I will not order or eat in this restaurant again!

I remember when they first opened up this place, the quality of the food was astounding! However, over the recent years that quality has gone downhill, big time! The sizes of the Sushi's itself are smaller, almost tiny bite-sized like, for children. So do yourselves a favour and go to a different sushi place because the prices of this place aren't cheap either.

Worst sushi experience, they serve food in paper plates bad customer service food tastes old and bad, also they are rude while serving food. Had a strong smell in California rolls.

Can't tell you what the food is like because they lost us at the door with poor customer service.

We went with our daughter who wasn't hungry and not going to eat, but the two adults were. Our daughter is 10 and they wanted to charge full price.

We asked to see a menu to see what they had, they couldn't show us anything because everything is on ipad. What if we wanted take out? What if we didn't want all you can eat?

I felt the hostess was a bit stand offish so we took our business elsewhere.

This has to be one of the worst sushi experiences I have ever had. I was a long time customer of tatami but since the pandemic, the quality and service has gone downhill. Sushi plates are served on Styrofoam, soy sauce was served in packets. The spider rolls were fishy and gritty and the salmon sashimi was also very fishy tasting. The only redeeming dish was the black pepper beef. Enogi rolls were tasteless and bland. For 80$ for two people, I expected more. Don't waste your time or money. Tatami sushi, wake up and provide better quality items to your patrons. Service was horrendous! When I mentioned that the spider rolls were inedible, the server simply gave me a look and took it away - as if he didn't care. I don't understand all the 4 and 5 star reviews to be honest, there are much better places in the city that will appreciate your patronage.

Went for AYCE a few nights ago. Wait time about 30 minutes - understandable considering it was dinner time and every other table was in use. Staff was nice and courteous. Food was delivered in a timely fashion on styrofoam plates and waiters were wearing masks and gloves. However I don’t think the kitchen staff was AS THERE WAS A GOOBER/BODILY FLUID IN MY EDAMAME.

Did not touch it. Needless to say I will not be returning.

Utterly disappointing food and service. Tasteless, bland and over priced. Service was horrendous and all seafood dishes I tried were fishy. Find another sushi place in the city to spend your money. I understand things have to be different because of the pandemic but there is no reason compromise on the quality and service. My advice, scale down the menu and provide a more condensed fresh, and tasty menu to your clients.

Worst customer service I've ever experienced! After repeating my order to the worker after not understanding what she said due to her mask, she said "Can you not do math ". Even though I though i repeated my order, my order was messed up. The whole experience was terrible. The lady also acted rudely towards the uber eats drivers who were picking up food.

A decent sushi-spot with a various selection of Japanese eatery. Atmosphere is really cultural, staff is easy to understand. And the service is not lightning speed but usually never have to wait too long. The washrooms are clean, and their tables selection is very good for a party of 10+ or more people. The fried chicken is delicious and the sashimi is borderline amazing. Would definitely go there again with friends if I was in the area.

Their not doing all u can eat right now and that's what I went for, but the food I ordered was good.

Great food good prices. Online service is horrible. It does not let you know what the ayce price or times for lunch or dinner. It does not tell you what the ayce price or times for weekend dining. It doesn't say what menu items are available for ayce and what items are not. Update: I just called and they said that they have discontinued ayce. I will never go there again. They discontinued the black pepper beef aw well.

By far the worst Japanese I’ve had delivered. One of our tempura orders was completely ruined due to the tempura sauce opening within the container (not to mention it covered everything in the bag in sauce). The other tempura order we had was also inedible because the tempura breading was barely cooked. The sushi we ordered was also inedible, soft and mushy and not enjoyable. They also can’t even provide fresh wasabi, they just give you pre packaged garage that tastes disgusting.

Edit: My husband has now spent most of his night on the toilet. Very disappointed and highly do not recommend.

Yesterday was the first time we came to that magnificent restaurant. But It is definitely not the last. We passed a splendid evening with the good service, with the magnificent cuisine and fine drinks and with the friendly payment. We will no doubt come back again.

This is no doubt one of the tastiest place to eat in the region. Whenever I come there I am very happy. They keep their very high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they serve. You always win with this place. Very recommended.

I used to always dine in, sad due to COVID everything in Ontario is closed down. I recently order online and can’t make one complaint, so fresh and tasty. Please support local businesses as these times are the hardest. Hopefully covid is over soon and we can dine in again.

Sushi is ohk for the price. Tasted fresh nothing special if you want a cheaper option id choose here! I wish they used re wasabi and not flavored horse radish.

I've been here a number of times, great place to eat in, or more recently, to get takeout. Nice atmosphere, good fish, and reasonable prices.

From the moment you arrive in this restaurant they give you an excellent feeling. Very warm team, it is a kind restaurant to go out with friends and colleagues or with your date. Great meals, qualified chef de cuisine, good price and excellent service. Warmly recommended.

I was always curious about Tatami and it was definitely an amazing find!
Our favorites are always spicy salmon, spicy tuna and spicy yam - packed well, rice is not dry, great flavor! Definitely recommend!
Just a tip: don't forget to ask for the spicy mayo if going for take-out! They don't drizzle it on top like most restaurants, it is served on the side in a separate container (yes - perfect for dunking!)

If I could give it a 4.5, I would. It’s really good food, the menu is easy to use, and the price is good. I love all their sushi options, and their black pepper beef is amazing. My one complaint would be that sometimes they’ve mixed up our orders, especially when ordering a whole bunch of all you can eat, and especially when it’s busy. It’s not even a big deal, just sometimes we’ll get one item that no one remembers ordering, or we won’t get one item we were sure we ordered. But the food is so good, no one really complains.

Good AYCE sushi place. Speed of prep was good and quality of food was good too. No sashimi during lunch which is the norm these days but all in all, a good meal.

Visited Tatami sushi with some friends and i for a new sushi experience. At the end of it all i absolutely regretted it immediately. Terrible customer service, the people working there all look upset and grumpy everytime you ask for something.isnt that part of running a restaurant? I dont get it. I heard rumors of this place using a "SERVICE CHARGE" trick to try and get you to pay more money. For some odd reason this place tries to charge a "SERVICE CHARGE" to pay additional money on top of the bill youll already receive. Why am i tipping and paying my bill if there is going to be a additional "SERVICE CHARGE" added to the top of my bill? No warning no explanation nothing! This is a pathetic attempt to try and scam people out of their money. Absolutely greatly disappointed. Only a few friends go this "SERIVCE CHARGE" not everyone meaning this is only given to those the restaurant thinks will fall and just pay for it. We even asked other customers around us and they also looked very upet and confused with this random scam "SERVICE CHARGE". In conclusion it was a VERY BAD EXPERIENCE NEVER GOING AGAIN!

We’ve never been to an all you can eat place that serves one piece of whatever item you choose, but THREE pieces of dimsum for every one dimsum item selected. Granted it does say so in the description when you click into the picture, but it made absolutely no sense for all other items to mean 1 while the dimsum dishes meant 3.

The waiters could have said something prior to delivering the food, but instead they told us as they placed the food onto our table.

We basically ended up eating poor quality dimsum at an AYCE sushi restaurant. Won’t be coming back.

100% THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! ITS SO BAD THE ENTIRE STAFF LOOKS UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNTRAINED! This place knows they have the absolute worst staff that they even force and trick you into paying a SERVICE CHARGE. Why trick and scam loyal honest paying customers into paying a SERVICE CHARGE for having the absolute worst staff to attend your customers!? A homeless guy would have talked to me and treated me better. The entire staff of Tatami Sushi all looked upset like we were stealing something from them! And this was only 5 minuets into sitting down in the restaurant. Tatami Sushi is absolutely terrible the food quality has gone down greatly and the customer service is a complete joke! The service charge scam should be 100% illegal! WHY PAY A SERVICE CHARGE IF THE WAITERS HANDLING YOUR ORDERS AND DRINKS ARE 100% THE MOST RUDE DISRESPECTFUL PEOPLE EVER!? Tatami Sushi scams you into paying this SERVICE FEE because they know deep down no customer would ever tip those unprofessional rude people you call a staff.

Friendly staff and reasonable prices, Sashimi is always fresh, and the sushi is equally great. I take one star off because they don’t have a ton of options, very basic options you can get at any sushi places.

Very average sushi. Tons of rice on the sushi to make sure you can't eat much hahah. This is typical of most all you can eat. Surprisingly fast service though.

We come one hour before they close and the restaurant was empty we asked for party try sushi they told us it’s can take half in hour to make it than we order tow combo take half in hour to make it though! Wow. Sop is cold! And the chef make the sushi is rude we will never come back here

SERIVCE CHARGE IS A MONEY SCAM. This place is a SCAM. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Ive been here with family and friends before and for some odd reason this restaurant ALWAYS tries to scam us for additional money. First of all they have absolutely terrible unprofessional service and 2nd of all they dont even know how to handle a customers concerns and problems. Its so bad to be honest with you they cant even get a drink order right. I been here a few times with people and this restaurant always tries to sneak and scam their way into tricking customers to pay more money. There are random times where a customer gets charged a ***service charge**** and there are other times where this isnt even existent. Meaning this restaurant only applies this charge to those they can trick and abuse into paying this ridiculous fee. A restaurant who uses a pathetic scam to get people to pay more is just absolutely disgusting and very disrespectful. My family, friends and i WILL NOT BE COMING HERE AGAIN. TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL WASTE YOUR MONEY. 100% NO WORD OF A LIE!

A nice all you can eat sushi place. Tatami is a good place to pop in and enjoy some nice food at a fair price.

Orders are all handled via a tablet at the table. Which is nice, however it's not always easy to tell if the order has gone in.

The servers who take your orders are nice and helpful. However not all of the people delivering the dishes are as much. We had a couple of dishes basically tossed on our table as they rushed by. (not a huge deal, but it was off putting enough that several people at my table commented on it.)

Lastly, they no longer accept VISA but other cards are accepted. Not a big deal, but just be aware.

We eat here every time we visit Toronto since it opened, and it seems to have improved over the years. In the past we would order sushi and amounts delivered to the table was sometimes less than number of pieces ordered. Now there is an electronic tablet at each table guests use to order and sushi and food items arrive quickly.and complete. Orders for those with allergies are handled separately and well, though they are not identified by servers when they are placed on the table so you must pay attention or one of your dining partners may dig in putting at risk those who have gluten or shrimp allergies.
Oh and they have no gluten free soy sauce here, if you are gluten intolerant and enjoy soy sauce with your sushi, bring your own. I forgot one time and bought it at Health Planet, the health food store in the building directly north of Tatami.

The customer service is terrible at this place. My friends and family would go here all the time and it use to be amazing. Once management changed the place just went downhill. My sister and I went for lunch today and my sister left a tip from both of us but the lady was so pissed that I didn't leave my own and literally yelled at us to come back when we were walking out the door, just to let us know that she didn't want our tip.who the hell does that? And she made a big scene. Learn to act like a professional worker instead of a child when running your own business.this is how you definetly lose customers. The reason I didn't leave a tip was because of the fact that they gave us a table that was broken and kept shaking when we were eating.they also gave everyone else ipads but us a piece of paper that didn't even have all the menu items.they servers were so rude! So what do you expect. Hope they talk to this server about her attitude.

Staff is not friendly at all. They seem to hate taking orders and always seem upset. Why are they working with customers on a daily basis if they are going to be giving everyone a cold angry look? My friends and i came to eat at 8: 30pm hoping to have a good meal. We order our food and moments later the waiter says last call.how can it be last call if we have just sat down for less than half an hour? They close 10: 30PM so what's the issue? They were trying to cheat us out of an all you can eat experience. IF YOU SAY YOU CLOSE 10: 30PM THEN CLOSE AT THAT TIME. Another terrible bad problem this restaurant has is that when a bill comes in saying $65 they will try and scam you out of another aditional $10-$15 for some poor excuses of "service charge" I have been there 3 times before and i never got a service charge. Why are they trying to scam good loyal paying customers with this disgusting cheat move? Many friends of mine who go to eat here also have described to witness the exact same thing. What a horrible bad thing for a restaurant to do. VERY UPSET AND DISAPPOINTED!

Terrible customer service! I used to come here all the time with friends but recently stopped because food quality and customer service. But on sunday lunch time my family wanted to go. It was such a mistake, servers where so rude my cousin tried to ask for straws, napkins and forks and it took so long we had to ask 3 different servers and one even put their hand in my cousins face, saying dont talk to me im busy. The food was ok but i wouldnt waste my money on it again.the maki has way to much rice and servers are always bringing out the wrong thing. My other cousin asked at dessert if she could get a blue jello, and the lady kind of acted weird about it she then brought out 2 red jello and said they ran out of blue jello, we then thought that sounded kind of weird so we ask someone else and he continued to bring out more than 4 blue jellos! Wish it hadnt changed so much i used to love it here but now its really such a waste of money and time!

The sushi was all rice and bit of toppings. Literally all rice!
Nothing we ordered was good. I hate wasting food but the food was very gross. The fish wasn't fresh at all. It was very chewy.

Save your money

Visits this year to Tatami have been average. There is nothing special about the food. The quality of food has gone significantly down compared to the previous years (maybe due to new management). However, I can assure you that if you are looking for an AYCE place that serves food quickly.this is the place. It still is very clean and the staff do not have much customer service.

Zero stars if possible. Food was bland (only noodles in my seafood udon, no seafood at all), shrimp tempura was served cold, salmon sushi pizza rice party was too thick and no taste, Maki sushi was falling apart, green tea ice cream had too much ice, not a creamy texture, server spilled my mango pudding as she placed it beside me, servers did not make any eye contact, obvious they don't enjoy being there, table was unstable, I ended up spilling soy sauce on myself as a result of the rocky table.

They have a modern setting, many young teenage customers, great atmosphere, too bad the food does not compliment it. No ipad, regular paper and pencil ordering. Last time I visit this restaurant.

I really like the sushi there and the service was always great. Unfortunately, today I found a fly in my dumpling and informed the server. She just took the plate away and didnt even apologize

This place has great tasting sushi for an all you can eat joint! I'm vegan and there are tons of vegan options for me in terms of hand rolls and Maki rolls. Food it quick to come out and the 16.99 lunch is an unbeatable price.

Spectacular place! I always go with my friends and everyone loves. The order comes fast even on crowded days like at the weekend. Great variety, price and staff.

From the outside it doesn't look too inviting but inside is really nice! It's actually a good alternative to the other all you can eat in the area. I love the options and varieties on the all you can eat menu. They also serve a la carte and ramen on their menu. The liquor menus also has a large menu with lots of Asian liquor and all the other stuff. I really enjoyed everything I ordered and recommend the place

It's not bad. I ordered take out and it took a while for the lady to understand what I wanted. Wasn't the best service, but the food came pretty fast. What we ordered wasn't that bad either, a bit pricey though.

I love fish especially salmon and their salmon pizzas are to die for. Service good finish what you order or you pay a late carte. Senior discount as well

Reliably good (not great or but not mediocre) sushi. Everyone else says it suffers from the service, but the food and variety more than make up for this imo. Decently priced for what it offers.

Best sushi place I could find yet. I've been here many times during holidays and casually on a weekend/day. Always had seats! I would say there are 40 tables; some of which are two seating, 4-6 seating and a very large one that can comfortably sit 15 in a round table. Very good atmosphere. They also provide an iPad containing the menu where you can set the number of servings you want and place an order. You can also request for a server or press when you're ready to pay! They really have nice interior and an accessible washroom. They serve sushi, maki, hand roll, sashimi, soup, appetizers, desserts and many more! They have a different formula for their ice cream - best for lacrosse intolerant people. It's also very convenient because Cineplex is beside it. You can't definitely hangout in this area. Very clean space and cooking is not oily at all. Would recommend: D
