The worst insurance company I have come across. The accident didn’t do as much damage to us as the claim adjusters and how we were treated to get paid for our riteoff car.
Will never come back to td ever again. Biggest rip offs and don’t know what customer service means.

A tree was struck by lightning next to your house and knocked out quite of electrical components in the house and pool. The claim was confirmed to be insurance. There initial response was slow but by week two we had first onsite and an electrician to inspect the damage. Nearly 3 months later we are finally getting an estimate which does not include everything that was on the inspection initially. Our claims adjuster Hassan has been awful. Very little feedback on progress, near impossible to reach, and incompetent.

Pool has been unusable all summer, smoke detectors still not replaced and dogs running loose because the invisble fence has been down ever since. Now we are to the point we we are looking at getting our own contractors to perform the work and file a law suit due to the immediate danger to our family and house.

Do not use this company. After all these years paying expensive premiums they are no where to be found and could quite honestly care less about our family.

I was an auto/home insurance client with TD since 2006. They told me my auto insurance would go from about $150 for a 2006 Mazda 6 4-dr to $320 on a 2014 4-dr Honda Accord LX 4-dr in 2022 because it is a silver vehicle and the model is on a list of most stolen vehicles. I spoke to two supervisors and they follow the same script indicating the government of Ontario dictates the insurance pricing ranges. I cancelled this policy and found quotes for much less than half the TD premium.

I have been paying home insurance on a home with k&t electrical wiring for $160 premium in 2018 to now almost $200 premium per month with TD Insurance. The original pricing reflects outdated electrical wiring that is why it was/is sky high. After spending A LOT of $$$$ on replacing the electrical wiring in the home and receiving an ESA certificate, TD claims there is no change to the premium. I spent $500+tax just on the certificate to provide to the current insurer. DO NOT USE TD INSURANCE! AVOID Toronto Dominion at all costs they are running a SCAM.

Guess what? I know someone who had aluminum wiring replaced a number of years ago, and the exact same story took place. No change in premium after spending $$$$. Yet they were quoted high to begin with due to aluminum wiring. How is this not criminal?

I hope we see a documentary on this scam soon.

Ensure you have all your documents at all the time
Ensure you have your online account and get screen shot of your activities at all the time
Ensure your payment is accurate because they are not capable of recording
Ensure to record your conversation at all the time to protect yourself from accusations (they accused me to lie about having insurance and wasted one entire day on the phone with 10 different advisers because they forgot to update my insurance changes)

Last, ensure to choose another insurance company

Policy effective rate is different from what you get online and there is no confirmation whatsoever.i only notice this a month from now and i would like to cancel the policy, guess what, there is a "short notice policy cancellation fee" on top of the high premium for the first month i didnt expect.i decided to cancel the policy anyway cuz i dont want to deal with them in the future at all.buyers beaware

They can screw with personal and financial information by sending them to your old address while referring to your new address within as well. Ironic right?

Now Imagine that the mail can also get opened by accident because the sender did not bother checking that the recipient name can be hidden from envelope window (which makes automated mail forwarding checks useless).

They promised to fix the issue for further mail correspondences yet I still recently got mail sent there. Now they direct me to voice/online messaging for callback in which they ignore. What a way to do a business!

Finally I was able to handle their mess and do some damage control by fixing the mailing address online via my account (Which I wasn't able to do so before). Still not confident that future mail would never sent again to the old address.

BTW financial information sent is also used when calling them and verifying the caller's identity. Identity theft that is waiting to happen.

No apologies, no accountability, and no other place to accept escalating the complaint to (including media and regulatory bodies). A complaint system that is designed to fail customers.

I wrote this review believing it won't change anything about the business practices. However my review (if it sees the light) may help few lucky ones deterring from such business that can put their privacy and identity under risk.

TD Meloche monnex has gone tremendously downhill, be warned they take out on days not agreed too and then blame you.stay away from this company, we have been customers for decades and suddenly everything was a mess and they take no accountability.

I was going to purchase a car at the end of 2021 and didn't end up pulling the trigger. So I signed up for insurance with the intention of purchasing the car but later cancelled my insurance policy as I do not own or have insurable interest in the car. It's now been nine months trying to cancel and this company makes you jump through hoops just to do so. I've signed multiple documents and yet they have continued to charge my card month after month. It's been 9 months and I still haven't even gotten a refund. This company is a total SCAM. Please avoid it at all cost!

Find another insurance company, all TD does is provide the worst customer service and FIND ways to increase rates every year even though I’ve never had a single claim and had multiple policies. Other insurance companies like Sonnet are far better, they let you set up the policy the way you want and let you have more control. TD has gone on a hiring spree and still they have incompetent employees backed by greedy executives who only care about maximizing profit off of each customer! Their own employees get insurance at other insurance companies to save on cost.

Bad customer service, especially you are not a new customer. Usually, I can get my insurance done right away, but this time I have waited more than 48 hours, and it is not done yet. Called TD 3 times, and nobody really wants to help me. Now I have to delay to pick my new car up. Lockdown coming next Monday. TD really screw up my plan. After this time, will never ever get TD insurance.

I thought TD Meloche Monnex was great. I was with them for 3 years, never had a problem. Then today I went to update my address cause I’m moving. I’m only moving 6 minutes away. And My commute to work is going from 30km one way to 3km one way since I switch jobs also.

They re quoted my rate and it went from 170 to 272$. I have no accidents or tickets. Nothing’s changed and my commute got way shorter. I immediately did some shopping and found a company that will insure new for 160 a month.

I never had a problem with TD’s customer service, even thou they are kinda lost and the automated message at the beginning is terrible, the customer service agents were always polite.

Overall. Go through a broker. Don’t waste time with these guys.

Worst insurance company ever. Even with 20% engineering profession discount Im paying $150 more annually. My premium was increased for no reason after being with them for 5 years. This is my last year with them. I spoke with their CSR and she pretty much told me this isn't the best company. I'm just waiting for my term to end with them. Warning for potential customers: Do not get insurance with them

Now they start manipulating with contract. I had 2 home and 2 car insurance but every year I was boosted. No respect to experience and loyalty. Now, when i want to leave they say cancellation fee. I was told no cancellation fee. Now they deny it. The only cheap companies treat its clients like that. And it is also expensive.

Haven't been with TD for years and I receive a letter from collections 2 years later. No notice or calls or emails or letters from TD whatsoever. I call to see what happened and all the feedback I get is, "pay it or ruin your credit score". Great customer service.

Way too overpriced. Called for a car insurance quote that took them 2 days to provide, i was on the phone with the agent for over an hour the first day only to be told to call back the next day. I did and I was quoted 3000.00 a year. CAA was able to give me the same coverage for 1296.00. Guess who I'm going with.

Have been with them over 10 years no claims in that time it’s been constant problems every time I actually have to Talk to them adding a new vehicle or even just changing my address …their lack of responsibility to correct my policy has lead to them canceling my policy for 2 months I even already had new insurance and they decided to now take another payment 3 months later and say they never canceled it and will not repay the funds they withdrew from me stating it’s now my cancelation fee They left me with no money and no sympathy at all never using td products again

I've been a loyal customer for over 15 years but that officially means nothing. Had a minor issue with my bank account and made sure to resolve it as soon as I was made aware through their "stellar" communication but they didn't care and literally was told "we do the bare minimum". Unfortunately stuck with them but I'm now out the second I'm allowed to. It's unfortunate that this is how they conduct business as I was a guaranteed customer for another 30+ years. I rarely do this but have never been so ticked off by how uncompassionate they are.

Wish I could give 0 stars. Customer service is terrible, treat you like dirt. They have decent rates, but when you need to actually deal with a claim, they're the worst. Spend the extra money and look elsewhere for a spot with decent customer service.

Extremely poor service. Expect a hold time of 45 mins to 1.5 hrs EVERYTIME you call them and inquire or make changes to your policy. What a waste of time! I’m out. There are better insurance companies out there… stay away from this one! Not only are their insurance premiums high they also have poor customer service and LONG WAIT TIMES! Unbelievable. Picture below is my hold time and still no agent has answered! I hung up as I have better things to do than to wait. Next day I cancelled my insurance with them. Best decision!

Ps: other TD services are good. This is the only department of Td so far that is severely poor managed. For insurance needs just don’t choose TD.

Awful customer service. Not responsive. Unable to resolve or discuss any issues. They tell you that the right person will call you back in 24-48 hours. It's been one week. I've called several times but all they can do is request it again which would "reset" the 24-48 hours. I wanted to speak with them before the "payment due date" to discuss the payment. I called and waited few days, asked if they can put in additional note to to expediate the call back since it has been past 48 hours, over a week.
Now I am past my due date and did not even get to properly discuss the issue and have to pay the late fee. Poor communication and unable to have proper conversation; unable to reason they will just repeat the policy that ultimately does not relate or add to the conversation.
Not worth the stress to keep TD insurance meloche monnex.
0% recommendation.

Haven't had to claim anything but the rates are by far the best I have come across. Exceptionally long call wait times though if you do need to call in, fortunately, most info is available online.

Totally agree with other reviews here. Worst insurance services ever.
I completely had same experiences as other reviewers who had to give 1 star which is too much for this insurance company.

They renewed my insurance without telling me, and then they charged me for the insurance, and then they cancelled my insurance with additional late and cancellation fees for a plan that I never signed up for. I tried to call the company, expect at least 20-40minute hold and I called several times, and to speak to someone who doesn't read the policy to you, it will take a few days. Different representatives have different "policies" too like they are avoiding it with made up policy to avoid resolving the issue together.

What a scam. Worst "representatives" to deal with, ever. Not reasonable.

Negative stars. Never again. So many other great kind insurance companies are out there, I recommend anything but this company.

Absolutely poor quality and value. Speak to some of the representatives on the phone and they just read off the manual, not able to have a conversation or further explain to understand conditions or situation.
Also not very responsive to prompt call back. GOTO ANOTHER INSURANCE!

I have been a customer of TD Meloche Monnex for over 25 years. The customer service now is absolutely horrible. If you want to talk to someone plan on being on hold for well over an hour to speak with someone. They have obviously cut staff to save money with little regard for customer service. Horrible!

I've had to chase them down constantly just to get someone to talk to me. Absolutely awful customer service, horrendous communication, and zero accountability on their end. I recommend that you go for literally any other insurance company because this one is the worst I've ever dealt with. If I could give them a zero I would. They will make changes without your consent and tell you they can fix it if you just get the right documentation but then tell you they can't after over a year of work on my end to get documents they required

I gave 1 star, but that's actually 1 star too many:

1. Very very difficult to access an agent online. I have generally waited 20 minutes - 1/2 hour for someone to answer phone.

2. Their record keeping is sufficiently chaotic that you wonder why they are in business.

Here's two examples. Imagine yourself in this situation:

They left me messages threatening to cancel my car insurance because of my "accident record". But it was somebody else's accident record that they'd mistakenly put on my file.

After telling me I couldn't cancel my auto insurance over the phone, they applied my house insurance payment to my auto insurance, and then "cancelled" my house insurance for "non payment. When I called about a potential house insurance claim, they told me I wasn't insured.

3. I'd call it "sharp practice" when its very very difficult to cancel your insurance.

TD is the worst company for Home insurance. Never use TD insurance as it is in business to collect premiums only and god forbid if you have a claim they will rip you off by working with contractors who report only what TD wants them to report. I have been a customer of TD insurance for more than 15 years. Experienced a sewage backup which has destroyed a portion of my beautifully done basement. The sewage backup occurred twice due to a city pipe egging. To my horror the TD representative (Avril Bailey) was not only very difficult to work with but blatantly ignored facts to conive with the TD contracting agency (Integricon) and make a decision to not cover just expenses. She kept ignoring the facts I was sharing with photos to back up. Avril lacked minimal customer empathy and outright denied that the sewage backup had caused damage around the clearout despite clear evidence offered. I highly suggest customers to not consider TD insurance as if you get a claim you are in a lot of trouble with representatives like Avril who are out there to minimize expenses for TD despite legitimate customer losses you will be left to pay large amounts from your pocket.

Every time I call, I am on hold for one to two hours. At times after an hour the call will drop. At times I have had to give up. Please hire more staff! No one should wait 2 hours to purchase more insurance.

This company automatically renewed my motorcycle insurance policy even though I never requested a renewal on this policy. I ignored the invoice they sent me because I didn't want the policy renewed and never asked for it. They sent me a registered letter for non-payment, threatening cancellation of a policy I never asked for or wanted! I tried to call their 800-number only to spend 20-minutes on hold; I eventually gave up. A few weeks later I receive a cancellation notice along with an invoice for $160.24 for cancellation of a policy that I didn't want in the first place! Also threatened me with collections if I didn't pay within 14-days. Now I have to pay these scum-buckets $160 for a policy I never ordered - should be criminal. I am sending a complaint to the Insurance Bureau of Canada about TD Meloche Monnex. Never doing business with these criminals again. Reflects very badly on TD being associated with this garbage company. BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY - DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!

STAY AWAY FROM TD INSURANCE!

This is the absolute worst insurance company I have ever dealt with. First they'll rob you, then they will refuse to correct the issue. I tried to work with them to resolve billing issues and on TWO separate occasions, I was told I'd receive a follow-up call from the customer service advisor updating me on the status of my account. Those calls never came.

Finally, after many more phone calls and several emails someone finally called me back (2 months later, seriously) and told me there was nothing they could do about the situation even though I provided several documents to backup my case.

Long story short, I will be cancelling all my TD bank accounts because of this terrible experience. Would give 0 stars if I could.

The wait times over the last 3-4 years have gotten increasingly worse. I have been with TD Insurance for 8 years. I seem to get someone new every time I call which causes additional delays. I understand that there is a learning curve when you first start (I worked at TD Insurance 7 years ago) I waited 2 hours to get someone on the line, when I finally got to speak to someone I was placed on hold 6 times for 5 minutes or longer, one of the waits being 20 minutes.that math adds up to 3 hours on the phone and all I had to do was update the banking on my policy. I will be looking elsewhere for insurance.

The Company is good but they keep increasing the rate. While, other insurance companies refunded discounts to their clients because of pandemic. Meloche Monnex increased the rate on their clients While working from home.

Are you looking for an insurance company that is impossible to reach? Would you like to wait on hold for 60 minutes, or longer, any time you wish to speak to an agent? Would you like to listen to infuriatingly repetitive hold music while you wait on hold, with no call-back option? This is the insurance company for you!

Although we have been with this company for many years, I have had to wait on LONG holds any time I try to reach them. I'm on hold while I write this review. This particular hold is 32 minutes long so far. This problem existed before the pandemic and during the pandemic; this is a longstanding problem.

You would think that a giant company like TD could do better than this. But you should only use this company if you (A) enjoy being on hold, and (B) don't need to talk to your insurance agent.

Saved $3800 per year by moving my 3 properties and 3 cars to another company. TD couldn’t have cared less that I was going after 17 years as a customer. Please, please, please do your homework- shop around and go elsewhere!
Also- once you tell them you want to cancel, they will put you on hold (27 minutes for me) hoping you will give up waiting.

How many ways can they mess up your insurance?

Let me count the ways.

They will send you the incorrect paperwork when you purchase a new vehicle. Twice. You will wait on hold for 30+ minutes and be subjected to their horrible music when you attempt to fix THEIR mistake. The mistake is still not fixed. They will push you to their website which is clunky and prone to lock you out.

Do you not fall for their 'discounted' alumni rates. RUN do not walk from this company. Speaking from a 20+ year customer who is now actively shopping for a new insurance company.

Mixed review. I have had two automobile claims and both were handled wonderfully. With respect to changes, questions to our policies - the wait on the phone is simply UNACCEPTABLE. No one should have to wait to speak to a company they spend almost $500 with for almost an hour.

They used to be really good but the quality and value has dropped significantly since TD took them over. I now wait a lot longer on the calls. They are making mistakes, not responding and pricing are up.

They have promised that supervisor would call me but never did. They have updated my information and knew about address change but still sent me mail to old address which caused a lot of headache.would not recommend it.

Complete joke of a company. I don't even know why I pay them money other than legally mandated to have insurance coverage. Long wait/hold times, high premiums, incompetent representatives that act like they know everything (when in reality they literally don't know their own product), inconsistent and unknown processes to cancel your insurance (multiple calls lead to multiple answers to the same question), and finally my favourite part.requiring physical mail or fax to request for anything that might bring them less money. For example, access to your phone call recording with them so that you can't make counter claims easily on the bogus they make up after supposedly listening to past phone calls themselves. There are literally dozens of reasons to avoid this place with a 10 foot pole. Avoid like the plague!

If you need to call their support line, make sure you have eaten and went to the bathroom, it’s like waiting in line for concert tickets. Wait wait wait. For how much TD makes, you would think they could afford to hire additional call takers. Each time I call, hold for 30+ minutes to talk to a human. Just terrible! I have tried leaving comments and complaining about this, guess they don’t care.

Ive called my Claims Adjuster now three times with no response. Called back today to speak to the SUPERVISOR and also went straight to voicemail. I am simply waiting on an Estimate for repairs so my bodyshop can book me in to fix my car and I cant seem to get that now and the incident occured on the 19th of February I called on the 21st and to date have gotten nowhere. Incredibly poor service on this. Not impressed one bit and may need to start shopping around as I feel they have simply gotten too comfortable it looks like.
