TempStars Dental Temping and Hiring North America

This app is great. The concept and idea is wonderful. I recently started discovering some flaws, which is why I decided to change my review and provide a more realistic one.

Updated:
1) The app is easy to use and well laid out.
2) The app is slow and tends to frequently stall when loading. (IOS)
3) The lack of tax deductions is inconvenient.
4) They have greatly improved their customer service team and accessibility on their website.

When asking for help this time around it was much easier, & I genuinely felt understood.

I had bad experience with this agency. I started to work with this agency as a temp dental assistant but the second day after explaination to them what happened to me they did hold my account for 2months and half because of cancellation the shift and noone didn't pay attention. If you want to work as a temp staff I don't recommend this agency.

Wouldn’t recommend. If you fall ill or have a personal emergency, you are penalized and blocked off the app. Even with providing several days notice for the office. Seems completely unrealistic and won’t be using again.

My experience working at Dentistry at FCP was amazing! The staff was very welcoming and my day went very smoothly! It was a great day!

As a dental assistant, I've used TempStars from time to time since 2019, and I've been very happy and grateful for the service. TempStars has been a lifesaver for me whenever I needed hours.

FYI to all hygienists out there expecting to get paid “within 24 hrs” after completing your shift through TempStars. I’ve been waiting over a week for my payment from TempStars and have yet to receive anything. They want you to be so committed to the shift and warn you 100x before confirming the shift yet they take paying there hygienists VERY lightly. If you want to wait weeks before getting paid go ahead and pick up a shift.

No show hygienist booked through this service. Bad experience, no support from tamp stars to rectify the situation, we were left stranded with a fully booked day, patients waiting to be seen by hygienist at 8: 30am Saturday. No consequences no help in sending someone else to cover the shift inspite of all the “resources” they supposedly have. I was very disappointed as our patients were too. Will Never use this service nor recommend it.

Disappointed in how long it takes to get your payment everytime I ask a rep when I'm getting my money.they say in 24 hours but it takes week. It's been 3 weeks since I haven't recieved my payment from a office that pays within 2 weeks. Ridiculous

New to working with tempstars & the app has been nothing but great so far.easy to navigate, select&filter shift options, there’s always a variety of shifts posted, & they even help create invoices post shift.i’ve worked with different agencies & this one has been the smoothest yet!

Amazing temping agency you can go to to pick up shifts. Very easy app to use. I recommend Temp Stars to anyone needing to pick up a shift or offices needing to fill shifts.

Quick emails back about a glitch on my profile. Non-automated email responses, always speaking with someone directly when needed. TempStars has made it easy to book shifts, not to mention the amount of offices booking through tempstars as compared to the other agencies that I’ve tried!

I've been blocked from this app for 2 weeks now after just receiving a Pro status for a missunderstanding in regards to their new feature insta booking. The penalty is still not taken away yet though part of cancelling the shift was the fact that the app never informed the office that booked me that I rejected the shift. A new feature that needs work but when I tried to resolve it with the customer care it was never resolved.
Unfortunately there are professional people who count on this app for their living. Sadly it doesn't reach the professionalism of other temp agencies.

I am very disappointed with tempstar. They never follow up on employees. I tried to send emails no one is getting back to me. They never answer the phone calls. If you have any issues no one is there to help you. Very bad. I am very happy with workforce dental agency. They are the best. I really recommend to all dental assistant out there

It's better to say Tempblocks. The last dental office I worked at, the reception called me to come in an hour earlier; 3pm-8pm instead of 4pm-8pm. I arrived exactly at 2: 45pm and received positive compliments while working, even before closing the front desk was offering me to work more days. I do not understand why an office would do such thing? Talking positively in front of me and than reporting me behind my back? !
I absolutely DO NOT recommend tempstars even to my enemy. They just listen to one side of the story and then block you for no reason. No matter how great you do your job, you arrive early, and be on top of the schedule, there is still a chance that your account will be blocked.

Very well organized app. Easy to use. Very convenient. However, when it comes to customer support services, it is horrible. I worked for many agencies, and I have never encountered this approach from support team. I will not explain the whole situation, but want to say that as a hygienist look for other wonderful placement agencies that value you as a professional and as a human being. Avoid this agency by all means if you want peace of mind.

Tempstars is good until you have a family emergency. I had a family emergency and I had to cancel a shift 3 days before the day and they still suspended me for 14 days. They asked me to provide a doctor's note but unfortunately you don't really get a doctor's note for family emergency and sometimes life happens and you don't get any notes from anyone. That being said I had a very horrible experience was one of their clinic. I was abused and the doctor was so rude. I booked a shift for a same day and I even took Uber to get there on time I was still 5 minutes late I changed and I jumped in right away in the middle of root canal procedure. As I was new to the clinic I was trying to figure out where they put everything so I start opening up the drawers. The doctor was already frustrated with my existence which I didn't understand why but I still tried to assist her in the best way I can. I asked her a questions because I couldn't find some of the instruments and she called the frontdesk and said "she doesn't know anything about assisting" imagine, she said that because I asked her a question. I didnt like how she was trying to belittle me. I had to swallow my anger and still assist.some clinics expect temp assistants to magically have a knowledge of the whole setup of the clinic. So I went to the front desk and I told her I don't think she's happy with me and if they can find somebody to come in to please try to find someone. I didn't want to be there anymore but unfortunately I already gave my word to be in that clinic that day and I have to honor it and I have to stay till my shift was over. The next patient was resto and she was trying to poke me with the instruments and she did. She was very aggressive. I didn't know what to do or who to call or how to deal with this kind of behavior I have never dealt with somebody that was so rude.

After I got home I wrote an email for a temp Stars about the incident they said they're going to get back to me but they didn't instead they blocked me. I didn't know I was blocked till 3 days later I thought there was a glitch in the system that I was not able to see any available shifts. I emailed them back saying what was happening and they said they blocked me and when I asked for the reason they said I have a low rating. So after completing six shifts I canceled one shift, two of them gave me 5 stars, 1 clinic gave me 2 star and the other clinics didn't rate me.

Tempstars didn't call or emails for me to explain what was happening they would rather just decide to deactivate my account and tell me to give it a try after 6 month. I find that very unprofessional and to be honest they are the same as the clinics that I went to.

Jessica was our first temp hygienist with TempStars. She was wonderful and we look forward to her helping us in the future.

But worst dental placement agency! They don't value dental hygenist and if u try to contact them they take forever to answer back and very rude staff.

I think they are very unfair because I sent an email explaining that the three offices that I temp they wanted me to charge extra fees that I didn’t do so I told them that I wouldn’t do that! They have gave me a bad review because I didn’t fallow their unethical and ilegal charges *. I have sent them proof to the agency that they even didn’t pay me the right amount on the first and the third office but still continue saying that they have made their decision upon the reviews that I got.
I don’t believe this is fair because when you decide something you have to look both sides and not only one side.
I really think they should investigate in order to come with a final decision.
I am not applying anymore even if they give me a chance in The upcoming months because something that I dislike the most is unfairness. The fact that I stayed until the end of the shift even though I had all this going on, should be appreciated. NOT considering the whole picture! I know the truth, because I experience it. I treat the patients, I am not there to follow illegal demands. Thanks.

In March 2020 when the pandemic hit I had travelled Internationally via the US. At that time the mandatory quarantine was not set in place by Canada border agency but because I had flu like symptoms I decided to quarantine upon my return to Canada. I cancelled one week of temp star shifts and even though I presented them with a medical note i was blocked for 3 months of utilizing their platform. A few days later the country went in lockdown. Flash forward a year later, I had the unfortunate incident of tearing a tendon in my right working hand, cancelled another shift so they decided to block me permanently. This is completely fair as cancelling shifts is not something any hygienists likes to do and offices have to cancel a full day of patients as a result of that and loose considerable revenue not to mention how bad and unprofessional it reflects on Tempstar. The agency is trying hard to build itself a reputation of reliability. But people do go through bad periods in life and a permanent band is very harsh! Prior to that I had completed over 41 shift with 4.5 ratings. The support team told me that my ratings were bad and I do not properly represent temp star. I felt this did not reflect who I really am as a dental hygienist! I have ALWAYS been told what an amazing hygienist I am. I am very experienced with an impressive resume of credentials including a university bachelor degree in addition to my dental hygiene 3 year degree, laser credentials, local Anesthesia credentials, restorative credentials…. I am 48 years old so I have been in the field for a while. I am a diligent, responsible, honest and hardworking person who is committed and loyal to my profession. I have worked as a hygienist for Ottawa public health, for remote area gvt community hygiene programs in different provinces making me hold several licences to practise in a variety of provinces, I have thought dental hygiene in a dental hygiene colllege, I speak 5 languages and everywhere I temped offices were so wowed, they offered me jobs. I decided to continue temping with BTG the other agency in Ottawa with whom I had been with for 11 years. Currently I am temping 5 to 6 shifts a week, excellent track record and PHENOMINAL reviews from ALL offices not to mention I am earning top dollars! In a time when dental hygienists are in demand nation wide, I think this was a really bad move from Tempstar. The way I see it, it is their loss and my gain.pS I ask you once again to delete my account and remove me from you email list. You are inundating my inbox with your shift offers. I am happy with my agency and I am NOT interested in returning to Tempstar.

Easiest mobile app to use to find temp work near me. I've tried other platforms, but Tempstars is literally the only one who cares about both hygienists/assistants and offices. They never side with one more than the other and they do their best to find equal solutions that leave us happy: D I love using the service and I would recommend all dental professionals to get on this app! Don't waste your time using other services. Tempstars is all you need.

Hi, I think Tempstar is easy and Convenient way to find temp shifts. But as very unreasonable and unfair when come to costumer services understanding. I just don’t know any other agency or place of work that would try and punish you for upgrading your skills and also for having COVID in the middle of pandemic. I was told that I would have to pay a $250 fee to reactive my account because my account was deactivated twice 1. Was a CDA and became a Dental Hygienist 2. Because I caught covid and had to cancel a shift less 24 hours. I read the policy when set my account but this was ridiculous no one asked question they just sent an email saying we notice to had your account reactived twice so at this point you would have donate $250 to reactive your account. Ridiculous!

I have been temping with tempstars and they have treated me so badly! They blocked me and have been so abusive! I got 5 star reviews from dentists and they still permanently blocked me. Their staff are so unprofessional!

Great app for the most part, lots around the gta and a decent amount of jobs posted within toronto. I would have to agree the staff are not very supportive or understanding. They put long bans on accounts and have no leniency so if you’re really looking for work look into other temping agencies or call offices directly instead of relying on this service. The only merit to the app is the offices are all very nice and I haven’t had any negative experiences or reviews regarding my work (which is the important part)

I've been a member of TempStars since 2018 now working as a Dental Assistant Level I & II. I absolutely love being able to pick and chose which days I want to work. It is so easy to do and I always tell others about it and how to join. All members with TempStars are so quick at responding to emails and they have fun contest in the summer time. I will always be a member of TempStars! I am excited to say I am going back to school for Dental Hygiene, and can't wait to use TempStars and booking shifts as a Hygienist.

User friendly app, very good members' service, they get back pretty right away, easy to choose the days and distance to offices, easy to apply and cancel. The best feature I like is I know if the parking is free or paid, how long are the appointments booked. I have had amazing offices to work with. They make sure you get paid. Thank you!

Tempstars makes temping so easy. I have been a hygienist for over 25 years and Tempstars is the only temping service I can trust and rely on. Other agencies make the process slower and harder for dental professionals. I like having control and being able to do it all on my own without getting constant phone calls and emails from agency agents.
