Phenomenal, family run Chinese restaurant serving Cabbagetown for years.excellent food quality and competitive prices.they make one of the best Singapore style noodles, super tasty chicken wings and fried fish as well.portions are plentiful and the owners are wonderful.highly recommend!
One of the better Chinese joints. I am so happy with the food and speedy service I got for lunch. The lunch special is totally worth it and a great variety can't wait to try them all.
Used to be better. It's too expensive imo. Lower quality and the portions are pretty small. Their fried rice is not good. If I'm craving Chinese, this place wont satisfy my craving. Some of their noodle dishes are good. Ill give it 5 stars because I'm nice.
I forget the name of the dishes I ordered but oh man the food was so good. Chinese food is my favorite food since I am a kid living in Panama, and when I moved here to Canada the Chinese food is so meh. Finally I found a place that made the Chinese food really like the Chinese community in Panama and is so good. I love it how they serve you big portions and the price reasonable. I'll be back here for sure.
They're one of my favorite Asian restaurants around, I'm taking out cause it's close to my place, their foods are good, the prices are really reasonable and the staff are very welcoming, also fast which is a very good point, my favorite dishes are fried fish on fried rice and chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce.recommend
Had the chilly chicken and general Tao. Tasteless and flat tastes for both soaked in oil. Food was so oilly that till it arrived it was a moshy chicken. No crispiness left. Maybe its good for dine in but I would avoid for delivery or anything that stays in package for more than 10 mins.
Also leaving bones in our General Tao chicken its really not pleasant. Every-time we had a bite we were afraid we were gonna break our teeth. You either serve it boneless or not.
The first time I eat their food it was really tasty hot and good price. Last week the food tasted awful especially the fried rice, it tasted bad.the rice smelled bad. The kung po chicken was mostly vegetables I could count how many chicken pieces was in the plate. Yesterday got the wrong order didn't realize until I got home. Chill chicken was way too salty. I do have think that I would be buying from this restaurant any ti.e soon. A bit disappointed and bummed.
Got the fried tofu as appetizers and the chilli chicken with rice, and I gotta say it was an absolute rockstar! Quick and friendly service, and the portions were generous! Will be back again:)
Tender trap is a STAPLE in the area. Nothing bad on the menu. I've probably tried everything now. They're also super friendly and give off a warm family vibe. Eating a dish from tender trap is like being transported back to a time when Chinese food meant something different and despite how much the neighborhood has changed around them, they've stayed true to who they are and what they do well: Providing affordable food and outstanding value to the families of Cabbagetown, st James town and beyond.
The food is tasty but they often screw up orders. On more than one occasion I ordered vegetable hot and sour soup and I received the chicken hot and sour soup (I don’t eat meat) and once when I ordered a veggie noodle dish, it came with pork in it.

Shanghai noodles - amazing, Cantonese lo mein - amazing, beef ho fun - mo fun than I ever had. This really is a tender trap. Recommend 100% and great prices too. Friendly staff
This is clearly one of the most pleasant place in the region. Whenever I go there I am deeply happy. They preserve their very high standard service and the highest level of cooking they give. You definitely will enjoy this this place. Very recommended.
Excellent food, a great amount of veggie and meat per dish. Rice is included. From take out to dine in, food are percise cook to perfection. Lovely staff. Simple and delicious.
Not the traditional experience. The Staff is friendly, the Service is fast and the prices are fair, but the food isn't necessarily what you'd expect (explanation below). Our order contained BBQ pork wonton soup, vegetarian egg rolls, Tender Trap fried rice (also known elsewhere as house, special or Yeung Chow fried rice), honey garlic spare ribs and General Tao chicken.
The soup has a dark, slightly orange broth that has a strong fragrance of BBQ? And thick square chunks or pork. Definitely not the clear broth with thinly sliced BBQ pork and a few veggies that I'm accustomed to in other parts of the city.
The egg rolls where fine but nothing special, would have preferred if they had some meat in them since the spring rolls are also vegetarian.
The rice was quite tasty, I really enjoyed it. It's a bit darker and slightly oilier than what I'm used to but very good nonetheless.
The honey garlic spare ribs are breaded and in a thick sauce, which really threw me off. I haven't had spare ribs like since Ho Lee Chow was still around so I was not expecting that. The menu doesn't mention they're breaded. Not my thing, but I'm sure other will enjoy them.
Finally, the General Tao chicken was a bit heavy on the breading and not hot at all. The brocoli that came with it was a very nice touch and I really liked that but IMO, it still needs a bit of peppers and onions.
Overall it was an okay experience and I will definitely give them a try for other dishes, but it will unfortunately not be my first choice for chinese food.
Despite the funny name, Tender Trap serves hot, fresh Chinese take-out in a down-to-earth location. The food is always hot and tasty, albeit occasionally salty. The chicken balls are top-notch!
