Fred and Gail are warm and welcoming hosts! We have been there a couple of times and had a great time. And of course the food is great!

This was truly 5 start service, Gail and Fred went above and beyond during our stay to make it memorable. My parents were visiting us from Ireland and we made our way to the ranch for a weekend, we still talk about how incredible the team and staff were there. Truly relaxing and a very enjoyable stay, we really recommend.

Booking a second stay and I haven't even left yet! Great food, great vibe. Trail ride was excellent and the wagon ride and history of the property was amazing! They build a campfire for you every evening outside of the adorable covered wagons that you sleep in. The hosts were all so courteous and friendly for our entire stay! Highly recommend!

“Unwind and Relax”

Texas Longhorn Ranch, family owned and operated by Fred and Gail Cahill, just around the corner in Strathroy Ontario, is the perfect place to retreat with your significant other, adult siblings or close friends. Gail has razor sharp focus as to their guests’ needs. She and Fred first met at a wedding, have been married since 1988 and in her words, “we make a great team”. Fred
and I chatted today about the business and intermingling of family and community members that help run the ranch.

There are five houses on the ranch, in which they, their three grown sons and families live, and even one Ranch Hand (Mike) who first spent time there at the age of 8. He never left, and is now 37, responsible for taking care of the animals. My sisters and I went on an afternon trail-ride lead by Mike, six other guests, with another ranch-hand named Ally at the end. We
were each given a horse that suited our personality, which Mike quickly assessed after his introductory safety speech. Currently the ranch houses about twenty-five horses, thirty-five—forty longhorn cattle and three donkeys. One of the donkeys appeared in a commercial and a few horses made the movies in the 1980’s and 90’s. Along the trail we saw many butterflies, rabbits and deer, and we were careful to swat away the horse-flies in an attempt to keep our horses a little more comfortable.

When I asked Fred about his goals, with respect to the success of the ranch, he had several expressions that described his ideas. “Attitude is everything. Surround yourself with positive people. Find your voice and run with it. Don’t be afraid of failure. Trust that another door will open when one closes. ” Fred’s hope for the guests is that they leave refreshed, recharged and perhaps even renewed in their relationships. He enjoys giving
people a glimpse of a safe riding experience, and both he and Gail are always looking for ways to improve.

Fred & Gail won an Ontario Tourism Innovation award last year. The food is excellent, and we enjoyed a hot breakfast each morning, a delicious steak, chicken or salmon dinner, and home-made pies that were as good as my mother’s. We slept in a covered wagon with a very comfortable bed and room for our
luggage. The deck had solar lights, chairs, blankets, pillows, and each evening we had a beautiful campfire. There were individual bags of maple marshmallows to roast in the fire too. In the morning Fred and Gail’s oldest grandson, Tucker, was part of the cleaning crew who came by to sweep out the fireplace, stock the wood, tidy the bathrooms and replenish the Coffee
House. It was a few steps from our wagon, with a fridge full of bottled water, ice, and on the table— tea, coffee, snacks for our use anytime. Dishes, glassware and silverware were clean and available in the main diningroom and in the Coffee House. We had bright sunshine each day and a swim in the olympic sized swimming pool. Towels and lovely showers were all spotlessly clean and available too. If you happen to be there on a rainy overnight stay, you can use and enjoy their books, magazines and games.

Texas Longhorn Ranch is open for overnight Guest Stays from May—October, Wednesday to Saturday nights. They also have a Seasonal Campground for adults 45+, and Trailrides for ages 10 and up.

My sisters and I were completely unwound and relaxed when we said goodbye to Gail and Fred today. Tucker was riding around mowing the grass as we drove away. We plan on going back for a couple more nights, maybe with our husbands, or it might just be our exclusive annual Sisters’ Trip!

Came here for a trail ride and was a wonderful experience! Such a beautiful property and while on the ride you would come across many of the longhorns and other farm animals that were freely roaming. The owners and staff were incredibly friendly and the B&B looked so charming - like a fairytale! 10/10 recommend:)

If I could give Fred & Gail 6 stars I would as they are exceptional hosts! Their covered wagons are a unique, amazing & a wonderful experience! Their hospitality is truly the best! Their breakfast is delicious and very generous portions! We will soon book again for next year! If you are looking for a unique stay, reconnect with nature, no internet, beautiful Texas style pool, amazing decor, very thoughtful and personal touches, look no further, this is the place! Their ranch is beautiful!

Amazing! Gail is absolutely fabulous. She was so accommodating and friendly. She makes you feel as if you have always known each other even though you have just met.

Mike took us on our rides and was so personable and a wealth of information. He really enjoys and loves his job which emanates through and is felt.

The trails were just a perfect way to escape the city and feel a bit of normalcy amid the COVID crazies. We even saw a turkey and some deer. I can not say enough kind things a truly awesome experience and I can not wait to go back.

Hands down, one of the most relaxing days we've had. Mike and Allie were amazing and patient with us. The trail ride was scenic and full of history. We will definitely return and have recommended it to our friends and family.

Wonderful experience. Everyone was nice especially the horses. Gail, Mike and Alley went above and beyond. The ride was peaceful and enjoyable for myself and my daughters. We will definitely be back and we will recommend Texas Longhorn Ranch to family and friends.

Came here for horse back riding, celebrating a birthday. Very friendly people. The ride was relaxing and the guide very knowledgeable about the horses, the area and kept us entertained. We were able to see a deer, lots of different birds as well.
They also have a B&B, the place is amazing we will be staying with them soon. I will recommend it to my friends.

It's a great place to spend an afternoon enjoying a horse and wagon or sleigh ride depending on the season and weather. The Cahill family will provide you and your family an awesome Western ranch themed experience. Check them out, you won't regret it!

My family and I went for a horse-drawn sleigh ride this weekend and had a great time! Fred and his family are extremely welcoming. Fred was there to greet us with his young helper/neighbor Blake and the two horses, Ginger & Princess. The property is a piece of paradise in Southwestern Ontario. Fred shared interesting detail about the land, wildlife, and his time over the years he has been there as we rode along through the peaceful forest. We will be going back and even making the sleigh ride a tradition. Highly recommended - can't say enough great things about Texas Longhorn Ranch!

A beautiful property with guides that take pride in both their horses and the experience they provide!

I have known about the Texas Longhorn Ranch for a number of years having worked in the area (Strathroy, Ontario). Thought about them when planning an outing for my girlfriend and I, having not worked in the area for about 7 years I was surprised to find they started the covered wagon bed and breakfast! Called, booked and was not disappointed at all. Gail greeted us at check in and was welcoming immediately, brought a staff member around to help us to our covered wagon and make sure we knew our way around (bathrooms and coffee house). Our covered wagon was clean, simply appointed, inviting and comfortable. The grounds of the ranch are incredibly well maintained and the atmosphere is truly relaxing. Being able to disconnect and layout under the stars was exactly what we needed and we truly enjoyed our brief one night stay. We will be returning for a longer stay next year and look forward to the dinner! If its close to how delicious breakfast was, we will not be disappointed! So many simple little touches too mention, Fred and Gail have worked hard to really bring something special and memorable to those that stay with them! You will not be disappointed by this incredible hidden gem in Ontario.

Went here on Saturday, and it was an incredible experience. Gail (the wife) decorated the entire inside and outside of the premises. She is a super sweet lady. Fred (the husband) is a wonderful man. This is a very family oriented business. Staff are wonderful to work with, horses are very well taken care of, and the trails are beautiful. Will definitely be coming back! We also went to a bake sale and I got the Dutch apple pie. Homemade and honestly the best pie I've ever had in my entire life! Definitely 5 stars

Surprised my sister with a trail ride for her birthday. We all had an incredible time on our hour-long ride through the property. The owner, Fred, was so kind and welcoming. He as well as the staff built our confidence before the ride. We’ve never been on horses before, but we were able to easily manage it right away. It was a memorable experience, great for friends, families, couples. The property is beautiful as well - well-maintained, clean and modern. Overall a wonderful experience. Highly recommend it.

My girlfriend heard about this place from a colleague of hers so we decided to book and check it out. I'm not gonna lie when I first heard about it, my expectations of the place was low. I am so sorry I had ever thought that. After this weekend it absolutely surpassed my expectations. Most romantic get away I have ever been on and I cant wait to book again. The food was amazing, big portioned meals (I feel so bad for not being able to finish my dinner and breakfast I ate as much as I could) Gail you were an amazing cook. The bed wagon rooms we stayed in were cozy and made me feel at home. They even have a lil mini-put course my girlfriend and I extremely adored especially in the late night under the stars with lights. The horse back riding trails were so cool, being able to ride through nature and see all the other animals they had on the property. 10/10 would recommend. My girlfriend and I cant wait to go again!

Very peaceful place and happy most gracious people that run the place Fred and Gail are fantastic the food was fenaminal I had a great time and it was what the Dr ordered and I loved the horse riding two thumbs up!

Amazing ranch! Incredible customer service, everyone there makes you feel welcome the second you arrive. Horses are lovely and well cared for.

We had a fantastic weekend stay. Gail and Fred are excellent hosts and made us feel at home. Everything about this place seemed well thought out and the attention to detail was fantastic, would recommend to anyone for a quiet weekend getaway and a break from the city!

We had such a wonderful time on our trail ride, the horses were wonderful, the scenery beautiful, and Mike our guide was a treat, couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a top notch horse riding experience. I can’t wait until my children are a little older so we can come back with the whole family!

We had the best time celebrating our anniversary at the Texas Longhorn Ranch. Gail and Fred are incredible hosts. Gail’s cooking is wonderful, trail riding with Fred was one of the best things we’ve ever done and sleeping in the covered wagons was cozy and clean. We will definitely be back! Can’t wait.

A beautiful ranch! It Looks like it’s right out of a magazine! Have been going for years! Have never had a bad experience! The staff is wonderful with warm hearts!
