Thai Basil

Service was nice. Restaurant was nicely decorated. Food price was outageous. Ordered a chicken Panang curry, price was 20% more than other Thai places, and then they told me it didn't come with steam rice, had to pay an extra $3 for rice.what curry doesn't come with rice? Feel like I was scammed. Wouldn't go back again.

Pretty good place for Thai food.
Had red curry, basil chilli noodles, which were both very tasty. The red curry had pronounced richness of coconut milk. The sauce for basil chilli fried noodles was the standout.
Finished the course with a very tasty peach tea.

First time at Thai Basil the service and atmosphere were amazing. The lady that was serving us was very nice and answered any questions I had about menu and the food came quick which was good and they kept refilling water which was also good. It’s a great date night spot and the food was good too just thought my dish that I got was the seafood needed a bit more seasoning and Vegetables need to be cook longer but other then I would recommend going to this place especially if you like Thai food

Good Thai food. I particularly like it's curry seafood pumpkin. Shrimp cake is also delicious

Im giving them a 4 for value. I expect to be served rice with an order of curry. I was surprised to have to order it separately. Overall taste was delicious.

My wife and I went here for lunch. We bought red and green chicken which was alright for the lunch special. The spring rolls were tasty. The lunch menu prices were lot cheaper than the regular prices. Each dish was delicious. The setting was cozy and serene and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The prices were reasonable. Will be going back at this when we go to Richmond Hill next time.

Tom Yum soup is Tom YUMMY great tasty food and good prices. Always leave here full and content! Friendly staff and great atmosphere!

Love the atmosphere - they use this small space so well how they separate each booth to make it intimate. Food 5/5.

Came here a few years ago and would have easily given it a 5 star review. Went there yesterday and it was a completely frustrating experience and it mainly had to do with one thing.lack of service.

I know the restaurant industry is going through a tough time right now with staffing shortages but considering this restaurant is pretty small in size and it had 4 waitresses working, we barely even saw them. We got seated around 8 pm and our food didn't arrive until 9: 05.zero update from the waitress on what was taking so long.actually for long periods of time the waitresses would completely disappear. Were they cooking too?

The restaurant wasn't even that busy.maybe 60% full at the time. The worse part is that my dish came out first, but my wife's dish came out 25 minutes later. I was almost done my dish by that point. That is totally unacceptable. We finished eating around 9: 40 and they cleared the plates quickly. Then they disappear again for another 25 minutes while we are there waiting for our bill. What should have been a 1 hour max meal went about 2 hours. Completely and utterly unacceptable.

We only order one entree for each of us and the food was pretty good and that is why this review gets 2 star instead of 1.

Ordered takeout. The Tom yum soup was supposed to be sharing size.got home to find it was one portion. The Tom kha coconut soup was just that.watered down coconut cream with exactly 1 prawn and 1 clam with a sliver of onion in it. Bland and tasteless. We ordered 4 Pad Thai.beef & chicken.worst I've ever eaten. Hardly any meat in it and no veggies save for a teeny bit of green onion n a hint of tofu n egg. On the plus side the noodles portion was generous & peanuts too. But it was tasteless. Never ordering here again!

Don’t order take out! Not authentic overall! Pineapple fried rice kinda weird. Chicken in the green curry is very dry. Tom yum soup is watery. Purple sticky rice is not enough cooked and mango is sour.

Needed gluten free and they gave us the best delicious meal. Even altered a dish so it could be gluten free for us. Definitely ordering again!

Great place for Thai food. Service was good and the food was really yummy. Thai Shrimp cake was yummy. Thai Green Curry was spicy and got a beautiful flavour to it. We asked for pad Kee mao in glass noodles and they made it for us and it was tasty. Definitely will go to this place again.

Thai Basil is the freaking bomb. We ordered again tonight and this place kills it every time. Highly recommend the green curry, yellow curry, black bean broccoli and pad Thai. Always the best food in the GTA. I am pretty sure Thai Basil has kept my family sane throughout the lockdown. Kenny the delivery guy is awesome. Always great service.

It was my first time and I really loved the ambiance. Beautifully decorated with Buddha art. We felt private with the nice partitions. Alison and Ester took amazing care of us. They would think ahead and were so sweet and helpful. The food was delicious. If you want authentic Thai this is a wonderful place.

Had the green curry and it was amazing. For dessert, I recommend the Mango Sticky Rice. Ultimate comfort food

Very tasty—perfect amount of spice! Disappointed that you have to pay extra for a bowl of rice with the curry.

Best vegetable fried rice around - I know because I’m vegetarian and have tried all the local ones. They also have delicious soups and spring rolls. Such a great option for vegetarians! The staff are so helpful during Covid as well - 5 stars and highly recommend!

This restaurant has first-rate service and enjoyable food. My favourite restaurant around town. The food served quickly and the rates are fair. Highly recommended.

They offer a large range of delicious food. I loved eating here. The employees are always kind, rates are fair and the place is always neat.

Food is just OK. I feel that it’s overpriced given the flavour and portions. I think they should explain the ingredient difference between the pad Thai and bangkok pad Thai.
I just asked for regular pad Thai and it was very sweet, like ketchup and sugar sweet! I was no impressed.

I appreciate you responding to my comment. Since you took the time, I would like to counter back. You are correct in that the staff was new. The first thing I would have done is asked if such a person exists. Is there a person that has been buying the same MILD green curry from us for the last five years. Everytime I have ordered, I asked for mild and per usual got my delicious mild green curry.

When I called in and ordered, I very nicely told the guy that last time, the green curry was very spicy and we could not eat it so please make sure this time it's mild. His response, SURE NO PROBLEM. If he is new, he should be trained better. Very simply on the phone he could have explained to me that the spice is this and that and given me the choice of deciding whether or not to order.

I work in Richmond Hill and live forty minutes away so bringing back the food is not an option. This is also not about getting free food as I refused your free offer. When I called back, not one single I'M SORRY and we apologize. Just a stone cold explanation on the history of green curry. He should have given me that history lesson before saying sure no problem.

Mistakes happen all the time. When it happens to the same customer twice back to back, the response se needs to better.

We have been here a few times. The decor is decent and the restaurant is clean. I always order their lunch specials. It comes with Tom yum soup and spring roll. On weekdays it ends at 5 and weekends 3 pm. Food is average. If you’re looking for a lunch spot and you’re in the area, I would recommend thai basil:)

Really good Thai food. Their lunch menu is reasonable from a cost perspective and the food is really very flavourful. I enjoy the Pad Thai as well as the green curry chicken with rice and the Tom Young Soup. The dinner menu is a little overpriced but absolutely worth trying. Definitely recommend!

I’ve had food here before… usually pretty good but today was pretty disappointed. Ordered the lunch special for 2. It took 30 minutes to prepare only for them to say they ran out of spring rolls and they put shrimp chips instead. Two orders, packed 8 shrimp chips in one bag to share. Those things tasted NASTY and are no substitute for a spring roll. They didn’t even give us a choice, ask if we had allergies to shellfish… just stuck this nasty thing inside the bag.

Poor Thai food quality. Lacks taste and flavor. There are several other much better options in North York that deliver to Richmondhill and surrounding areas.

We just got some Pad thai and it was pretty bad, as basic as it comes.
Don’t bother, there are much better places around!

Nice service and cute ambience.
5 star for duck Salad, we loved it.
3 Star for Pad Thai- taste was good but more sweet than expected.
