My 6 year-old son is very happy with The Academy on Roper. The staff have been welcoming and made it very easy to integrate into the class. The 7 day trial was enough to win us over and my son said he had so much fun on his first day of class. Thank you!

The Academy Toronto at Roper is an excellent martial arts/grappling gym. I wanted to find a gym with (a) high level instruction, and (b) serious/high-intensity training, but (c) not one where I was going to get injured in an overly-competitive/overzealous or careless environment.
Roper has been the ideal gym: The location is simple/clean and no-frills; the group is very welcoming and like-minded; Steve is a great BJJ coach, very knowledgeable, and a true teacher. Dino, the manager, answered all my questions back when I inquired about the gym and helped me find a way to start training when I wasn't sure I'd be able to. Dino and Steve have helped me keep training/active through some health issues, after I took a break earlier in 2023; seriously generous and genuine help.
6: 30-8: 00 AM classes at Roper actually made grappling a possibility for someone with a busy day/evening schedule-so it's worth the trek from Pickering. But it's no compromise for schedule: the timing works, but the gym is great regardless. Seeing the sun rise (the windows face east) while training hard is icing on the cake.

Excellent instructor and amazing people with unique quality and high intensity training. A very safe environment and always a great vibe. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend. My son loves his time here. The teachers are so good at incorporating fun with learning, building confidence and athletic skills!
