Auld Spot is a great place to hang - amazing staff and Christine's playlists are of the hook! Disco? RnB? 90s Grunge? All happening here! And it goes without saying the food and staff are great!
First time there and the service was so great, I’ve returned a number of times and I’m trying every item on the menu. My first time I had the ribs, fall off the bones, super juicy ribs. My mouth is watering just writing this review right now and rethinking about the food. Did I mention the TACOS
For me the best pub for food and drink in the neighbourhood. Excellent service and great atmosphere to match the great food.
UPDATE: My original review was from some years ago and Auld Spot changed owners and chefs a few times in the years since. It is now back as my favourite place to visit in the area. The new owners, who also own the excellent Sheri Punjab next door, have turned the place around. It has been tastefully updated and the menu is awesome! The mahi mahi and fish and chips are two highlights. The staff are amazing too.
Blown away by how good the food was, plus the great service and really cool vibe makes this a must visit on the Danforth!
Went back again in August, and had another five star meal accompanied by a great selection of domestic and craft beers. It Hit the Spot (pun intended)!
The Auld Spot has finally re-opened under new management and it is fantastic! Decor and seating have been tastefully updated; the staff were friendly and very attentive; most importantly the food was phenomenal. We had oysters, polenta fries, beet salad, and burgers. The oysters are a steal so have some before your meal. The burger really blew my mind. I was expecting your standard pub burger, but this one was on another level. It was juicy and flavourful with a healthy serving of crispy fries and some kind of mildly spicy dipping sauce. Don't hesitate, check it out!
The new Auld Spot didn’t disappoint. New owners have stepped up the menu. Food is at a best in Toronto level, yet this is still a neighbourhood pub at its core. They’ve given the place a remarkable facelift and the staff made us feel at home. It was busy (sat.night), but didn’t feel crowded, or rushed. Food prices are reasonable for the quality and quality IMO, and they say everything is made in-house. I’ll be back!
Wandered in on a Wednesday night since I was in the neighbourhood. So impressed - super cozy British isles country house vibe, great music, awesome food, solid beer list. We had the oysters (fresh and delicious) and house made chips (well seasoned with a touch of kick). Great service. Will be back for a meal next time!
The Auld Spot's has the best staff ever! Very warm and helpful! Jesse and Jack were great. I would improve on the wine selection, the 2 white ones by the glass are both fruity. And a larger menu would be nice, but everything is delicious! But I recommend the place for the staff and the nice athmosphere and deco!
Nice atmosphere, good service, good vibe, but $11/$12 pints of beer is just crazy. I know we've all been hit hard by the pandemic and stuff and I love to support local, but it's just hard to justify coming here for drinks when you can get the same beer at many places nearby for like $3 cheaper. You can also get a $9 house lager pint but still, that's too much.
Had a superb meal here - not too crowded on a Monday - felt very safe - Jesse the waiter was awesome, the chef came out to ensure my friend with food sensitivities were met perfectly, music was spot on. Looking forward to going back soon!
I hate to leave two star review because the food was actually fine (not great, but definitely fine), but the last time I was there with my date, the tables were just WAY too close together. WAY too close. And I complained about this to the staff, but only god dismissive replies. Yes, it's the Danforth and real estate is expensive, but space between tables is paramount. I don't go to places with "communal tables" for this reason. Also, reading some of the 1-star reviews here, the person who write the replies should probably take under the consideration the old maxim "the customer is always right". Having "Toronto Attitude" is one thing, but being rude is completely another.
Great time with really good food. Had the fish and chipd and they eye excellent. Not impressed by the peach cobbler in a mug. World have preferred a bowl due to the hardness of the "crumble". I will go again to try the other food. Prices were higher than I expected but the food was better than I expected.
I was very pleasantly surprised by this pub. It looks like an average neighbourhood pub but the food was fantastic. The Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had, the drummettes were delicious (though a little pricey) and our server was friendly and on the ball. I’d highly recommend.
I've been coming to the Auld Spot for years. Their food is excellent and I have not once had a bad experience with service. Enjoying their new outdoor seating. The food is a little bit pricy but very good. They have lots of specials throughout the week so we like to plan our trips around those. The buck a shuck oyster night on Tuesdays is our favourite. We love being able to support our favourite local businesses during the pandemic!
No words can describe how awesome The Auld Spot Pub is. Amazing food and beyond wonderful service. Dan is hands down the best server/bartender I have ever had. Nothing but top notch suggestions and fabulous service from him. 100000/10 highly recommended!
Expensive, small portions, very limited menu, pricey beers with limited selection. Great quality food, excellent staff, very friendly and accommodating.
Very good food although it is pricey. I love their mussels. Usually save going for special occasions because of the cost but have never regretted it. Recently I went for brunch and the ceaser was 16 dollars and the lobster croque monsuir was 33, and I have EXACTLY ZERO REGRETS.
I had an amazing stake here. The beer was also really good. I think the stake will be the only dish I will order there during my stance in the country. Great service
My go-to local spot for great comfort food. Their rotating beer menu send to have something for everyone, like sours and decent IPAs.
I usually start with the oysters, of which they have two types featured for the day, before moving on to a main. Their menu is one page and it stays pretty static for the most part, but it's a pretty decent list: fish & chips, mac & cheese, Veggie burger, chicken drummies, Kale salad.
The service staff are attentive and friendly, though the place can get really busy so take that into consideration when waiting for a refill or placing your order.
The decor is interesting, as the walls are festooned with old paintings and the ceiling has these branches wrapped in these Christmas lights, or something like that.
Can't believe I hadn't been here. Food was beautiful, beer list long and impressive, and the staff struck the perfect balance between available and respectful.
Ordered a Kale Caesar salad last night on Uber Eats closer to closing time.wondering if the salad dressing was old or if the lettuce was contaminated because I’ve never gotten this sick before from a SALAD. I’ve been in the bathroom vomiting all morning long. I am disappointed because the reviews were so good. Please be more careful when preparing meals!
Editing this post: I do in fact have food poisoning. I gave my friend the rest of my salad last night as it was a rather large portion and today she tells me she is also experiencing diarrhea. What are your ingredients in the salad dressing? Do you leave it sitting out all day long?
This was the first place I had dinner when I moved to the east end. It felt like home right away. I've been back a number of times already and will continue to do so. Amazing food, wine, beer, cocktails and service.
First-rate atmosphere and super attentive service. The menu was fresh and enchanting. Will absolutely recommend this restaurant to friends. Convenient rates and generous portions. Great work.
The food was fantastic, the beer selection, great, and all Ontario breweries plus the wait staff were very knowledgeable and fun. A winning combination!
UPDATE: Can you beat this Bacon Double Cheeseburger or the salads with LOBSTER? I don't think so.
UPDATE today. Just look at the photo of my Beer Battered Shrimp Tacos tonight:) With black bean puree, pico de gallo, aged cheddar, kimchi aioli and soft shell tortillas. This dish was AMAZING, as is everything on the menu, They just keep getting better!
Always outstanding. Great and unique food. Fab wines and beers and cocktails. Comfy vibe.
Our local for happy hour and snacks. They gave classic movies on most of the time with no sound - just the way I like it. Reasonable beer selection, good oysters and an interesting menu.
Comfortable, easy-going place for a casual meal. Attentive and amiable servers. Outstanding beer selection. Always offer a compelling daily special. Just wanna say though, their cheeseburger is out of this world. I will continue to go back just so I can try absolutely everything on their menu. So, if you are reading this review, just go. For realz.
First time here and loved it. My group of friends and I sat around the bar and had a great time chatting with the bartenders. Great beer selections and awesome menu!
The food and dessert was amazing. We had the shrimp chorizo nachos, featured sausage, chocolate mousse, and orange creme brule. The nacho chips were seasoned well but seemed a bit stale missing the crunch. The refried beans and cheese made the nachos a great experience. The dessert was fluffy airy and just the right amount of sweetness. The food was such a pleasant surprise since I did not know anything about this pub beforehand! Highly reccomended
The Auld Spot is my favourite bar in the Danforth! Though I don't frequent the hood a ton, I had an incredible time at a birthday gathering for my brother and the staff went above and beyond.good libations and yummy eats (chicken drummies and oysters and more!) and friendly faces are what make for a fantastic pub experience and this place crushes it! I'll be back for sure!
I was at this pub 10 days ago.liked the place overall- great vibe, amazing craft beers on tap. Ordered fries, that was strictly average. Only 2 complaints- 1. They advertise half price oysters Monday- Friday 4-6 PM however I was charged full price ($20+ taxes + tips) on a Friday at 5 PM. They mentioned before serving that it’s full price but I came all the way from Oakville I wasn’t going back! Just a bit disappointed. 2. It took me 90 minutes to get seating at a table and I saw others who came after me and got a table earlier. It was my husband’s birthday and I wanted something magical. It wasn’t too bad but I wished they had improved service.
I've been to 1 or 2 pubs in my day. Lori the bartender at The Auld is amazing! It was my first time back in about a year or more, and I will definitely return.
Cool atmosphere and friendly staff. The beer selection is pretty good and the clientele is good. Beer is a bitnex0ensive - 4 beers were 36 bucks versus 6 beers at The Only, for 28 bucks.
