The Avenue Dental Centre

I had posted a 5 star review of this office 4 years ago and it was a deserved rating. However, I visited there today and it's not at all the same place it once was. I was notified that my retainer wire was "lose" during a cleaning. I asked them to fix it right away but was told I would need to make an appointment. That appointment is one month from now, and when I got home and had my dinner, the wire was broken within 2 1/2 hours of leaving the office. In other words, I should not have been allowed to leave that office in that condition.

If that weren't bad enough, I was also disrespected by the woman who was working the reception desk on my way out. She made a rude comment about my status as a disabled person and I have no words to respond to that action. Such a person should not be working with the public, especially at a medical/dental office.

I'm deeply disappointed and will be looking for a new dentist. I urge caution if you're looking for a dentist.

It's now 2023 and I can only say that the safe and experience has only improved! Great place, very nice and welcoming staff.

My first experience here getting my teeth cleaned, and a regular check up was real easy. The staff are nice and easy to get along with. They have a pretty big parking lot. My dentist was very calming and friendly he was very careful doing his work. I highly recommend this place. Not much waiting time at your set appointment time. Shout out to my dentist, thanks for your advice.

First I would like to say I wish I read Rita's message before coming to see Mr. Weisshar because her comment almost details my experience.

1. I had a broken tooth that was infected and I was in tremendous pain. I was offered an appointment a week later when I almost couldn't bear the pain for another day.
I told my friend Jerry who referred me to this clinic about the poor time schedule and how I will either have to look elsewhere or bear the pain for a week. Jerry called the office and Dr Weisshar did the tooth extraction. Nevertheless at arrival his receptionist was rude and frosty. He however seemed pleasant and so was his assistant. After the procedure he asked me to schedule a follow up visit for a general exam. When I requested this at the front desk his receptionist was still frosty, rude and dismissive said they do not have appointments in the near future. I left feeling hurt and dismissed. I did not know wether it was the receptionist that is acting this way on her own volition or wether it was with direction from Dr Weisshar.

2. A few weeks after my procedure the left side of my face was feeling sore and the gum above where the extraction was done was inflamed and painful. I called and wad scheduled an appointment the Wednesday of the following week. I wad also candidly offered by the receptionist to seek another dentist if I couldn't wait. As the discomfort was minor I chose to keep my appointment.
The next day the symptoms were worse. I was heating up, my face was swelling and I was in more pain that was still however bearable. I called the office to report my symptoms to Dr Weishaar. His receptionist said he was not available and didn't think she can reach him.
I was surprised that she wasn't sure if she can reach him. Is there no standards operating procedures? If a patient is having a complication or emergency there is no way to communicate this to the dentist? Bizarre. I inquired if she could please clarify with management on how she can relay the information to the dentist.email? Text? Phone? Pager? She said she will look into it and get back to me. No one ever called me back until a week later, the evening before my appointment where Dr Welshman called himself scolding me.

3. Dr Weishaar called me. I was happy to receive his call thinking it was to check up on me.instead he called yelling at me telling me that they will not tolerate my behavior abusing and yelling at their receptionist. Complete fabrication. She apparently got offended because I was helping her in how to execute some functions in her job and how to effectively communicate and relay messages to the dentist in the clinic. I was worried. Should be on an antibiotic in the interim? My face is swollen, I feel hot and I'm in pain. I did not yell at anyone but I did offer suggestions on some elements that can help improve their practice and patient care. I also expressed how I feel disregarded and the dismissiveness from the clinic.

It's a true shame. I'm embarrassed and humiliated by Dr Weishaar s accusation tonight. He concluded based on his version of the story. He didn't collect all the data. He didn't hear my side. He didn't inquire. Why? Am I not worth listening to? Why? Am I not the patient in pain waiting a week to see you? Why? You were not on the phone. You didn't hear the conversation. The facts are simple.a) Dr Weishaar was offended thinking I asked my friend Jerry to squeeze me in. (I didn't. Jerry just cares about me and feels Dr weishaar is his friend)
Dr Weishaar felt that it was disruptive to his practice and admitted that it caused him to scramble the day he did my procedure. Unfortunately from these secondary outcomes it didn't go well.b) It's not certain the secretary is dismissive or rude or if it's Dr weishaar that has given her these instructions.c) I did tell you the truth calmly and I will help you improve your patient care.like I said I am going to file an official complaint with the college of dentists and surgeons.
I will let them determine the merit of your professionalism and integrity.

For a person that is nervous of the dentist I found it to be a pleasant experience the doctor and assistant were very nice and informative explained everything.thank you.

Regretted ever go to this Weisshar. Have him put on crowns on my teeth and keep experiencing pain. When back see him the guy lied to me that the pain will gradually go away and charged me to go there. When to see another dentist my teeth was decade inside the crowns and need to remove. I spend so much have this guy reuin my teeth.

I got a filling done from Dr. Brian a few months back but it never got cured. When I checked in with another professional dentist, he told me that Dr. Brian had put filling on my tooth while my gum was still infected. I’ve been in pain for many months now and I’ve visited this centre twice but they just ripped me off by filling up my tooth which needed a root canal. Very unprofessional dentists work here and would never recommend unless someone wants to bear the pain and also pay them for it.

Dr Brian is by far the best dentist I’ve ever had.

Wonderful experience bringing my 4 year old here for the first time. Previous pediatric dentist (different office) was impatient and forceful and left my son very fearful of going to the dentist. Laura and Dr. Whitney were absolutely lovely, patient, and engaging - leading to our first successful dentist visit!

Dr. Werner Weisshaar is the most amazing dentist there will ever be, period. I have been going to Dr. Weisshaar since I was 2 or 3 years old, and now 20 years later, he is still the only dentist I have complete, unwavering trust and respect for. Once, I broke my tooth and despite him being off that day, he came in to fix it up even though he had absolutely no obligation to (and he did the best possible job with it, that tooth completes my smile thanks to him). He is the most genuine healthcare professional I've ever known, and honestly he should be in a textbook for what all dentists should be like. I don't have enough ways to sing him praise, and even then my words don't do it justice. You won't truly realize what a gem he is in the community until you actually book an appointment with him!

Everyone is like family. The care is fantastic and most importantly my pearly whites are in great shape Wouldn’t go anywhere else!

The staff treat you like a part of their family rather than just a “number. ” They are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and always willing to go the extra mile for you. I’ve recently switched dental offices to the Avenue Dental Centre and couldn’t be happier! Dr. Whitney and Dr. Brian are great! I’ve recommended Avenue Dental to all my family and friends in the area.

The receptionist is VERY rude. She cancelled my appointment on her own because I was upset that they are not concerned about the patients. I asked to speak to her boss and yet no call back yet. The dentist takes a lot of very long vacations prolonging every appointment over a month. I suggest to only use this office if NO ONE ELSE can help you. Dont say I didn't warn you they just want your money

Dr. W. Weishaar and Staff are the best! Been a patient for at least 30 years - he is the only one I trust!
