The Bauer Bakery & Café

Great food but have visited many times and almost every time don't feel welcome. Workers never say hi or even greet you when you enter. On top of that seem to get offended when you don't tip on a $6 cookie or coffee. Catch 22 can't win.

Stopped in after a late lunch at the restaurant. Staff were very friendly. Selection was small and pretty pricy. Ordered one butter tart to go. The tart was ok. Not the best I've had, but certainly better than most. More expensive than most. The one thing that irked me was the tip option on the debit machine. I don't think getting one butter tart to go warranted a tip. There was no option for no tip. You had to click on "other" and it requires you to put in your own amount. When I left it at zero it pops up with a warning that I haven't entered an amount and am I sure i don't want to leave a tip. This is going way to far for a tip. I don't like that attitude that whoever set up the tip option would go so far as to question a customer on their tip like that. Doubt I'd be back.

As I enjoyed my coffee at Bauer Bakery, I couldn't help but be uplifted by the continuous stream of positive interactions I witnessed between Zerka and Dylan and their customers. In an age where meaningful interactions with strangers often seem scarce, it was truly heartwarming to witness the profound impact they have on every individual who walks through that door. Thank you, Zerka and Dylan, for spreading positivity and making every visit to Bauer Bakery a memorable one. If I could give 6 stars I would!

Love the sweet stuff in this cafe! I also loved the savory chicken avocado sandwich, great for family gatherings.

The coffee is good. The baked goods are delicious. It’s worth the bloated price on occasion for a treat.

UNBELIEVABLY amazing service. The staff are friendly and helpful and are always willing to service with friendliness and.professionalism. The prices are a bit higher but the customer service and freshness of the products make it worth paying a little extra.

No seating in the cafe area itself, but you can ask the joint restaurant to sit down if there is space!

I love their quiche options - and their customer service is AMAZING.a few months ago, the employee felt that the one was a bit overcooked (which, i thought was totally fine) and she and the manager offered me some percent off - way to go above and beyond.really sweet employees, and also their drinks and food are great.

More a coffee shop than a full bakery. London Fog was delicious. The croissant was flaky but squashed. The bacon cheese scone was heavy but really flavourful. The ginger cookie was very ginger forward, crunchy on the outside and chewy in the center.

Love the baked goods here: the butter tarts are to die for, and the coffee was very good! No indoor seating so we were able to sit indoors at the Bauer kitchen next door.

Barista needs training on how to differentiate between a Latte and a Cuppachino. My Latte was very light, due to a Cuppachino amount of foam, and the cup was probably only 75% full. It leaves you feeling jipped and unfulfilled. The pastries are very good.

I was ready for a 5 star review but they have recently changed their 'pain au chocolat', keeping the 4$ cost but reducing the size by like 4x. Same price, quarter the size. Not cool.

Obsessed with everything this place serves. I think I've tried everything on the menu! The pastries are the best.

I paid a visit to the cafe for the first time and I really enjoyed the service I received. My coffee was made to perfection by a really friendly barista. She really knew what she was doing and it was enjoyable to watch her craft my coffee. I'll be back!

AMAZING service! The girls working here are so friendly and bubbly and hte chicken sandwich is AMAZING.

Great coffee and wonderfully baked goodies. They also have an amazing courtyard that is temporarily shut down due to Covid. The lockdown should be done in 2 weeks though, and then it will be so nice to patronize the establishment.

One of my favorite places to stop by and grab a snack or a drink. Staff is very friendly and I love sitting outside on the "patio" spaces.

Awesome cafe! I went for my first time and they were beyond polite and friendly. The coffee I had was really good and the prices are very reasonable considering it tastes better than Starbucks which extremely expensive. The avocado egg sandwich with goat cheese is a must have. Look forward to coming again!

Nice assortment of fresh and delicious pastries and some lunch items. Excellent coffee and lattes. Very friendly employees. Sometimes, items sell out so arrive early.

Been there a couple times already and tried several sandwiches and baked goods. This bakery is a bit more pricey than others but their food just tastes really good so that’s ok. Try their flourless brownie! The best one I’ve ever had for sure. Such a nice and rich chocolate flavor and the piece is huge, can never finish all of it in one go. Also the staff is very nice and helpful.

I used to love this place and visit frequently. The coffee was the best - one of the few coffee shops that serve Baden beans, and the food and service have both always been excellent. However, I visited today after a hiatus and I was so disappointed. Staff was less than friendly. I was told only dark roast available, no apologies or suggestions for something else (like an Americano or other espresso based alternative). I don’t care for dark roast, but decided to try it since the staff seemed to be in a rush for me to finish my order (no one else in line behind me). The molasses cookie was just okay. I ended up throwing out the coffee after a few sips because it was so bitter. New ownership? New staff not fully trained? I don’t know, but I was soooo looking forward to my favourite coffee joint today when I was nearby, and ended up feeling disappointed instead.

This is a really great coffee shop. Their coffee is very good and I especially love the fact that they have lactose free milk (only other place is Starbucks). They would get even more stars from me if they'd carry more gf foods.

The service is great and the staff are friendly.
I enjoy the baked goods and visit regularly.
My favourite are the croissants,
which when baked well are lightly golden and moist.
Unfortunately it has been hit or miss, (it seems lately a miss as they over baked and dry).
I feel badly complaining to the staff, but it would be nice if the baker knew that it was a disappointment.

Great food and good espresso. Happy that there are places to sit indoors - was worried when I came in to meet someone today that I'd have to sit outside. First time going here, and probably will stick to my usual haunt - but it'll be top of mind when I need a change of pace!
