Great inventory at this organic market, products are authentically natural & sourced from many countries.
Agree w.other reviewers who say the prices aren't bad at all (considering Canadian regulations/restrictions on natural products & their higher price points). Staff are well-versed in what they carry, everyone tries to be helpful (the outdated parking meter gave problems & an employee went out of her way to bring me inside to get me change). Shopping here after a long day is a very easy experience, other shoppers are generally respectful mind-their-own-business types, everyone's polite. Give the Big Carrot a try!

The worst health food store ever, first half you get dirty looks by this lady (looked like nativish), she doesn’t smile, say thank you nothing! Basically no manners, and I purchased two bottles of sea moss out of which a bladderwrack sea moss gel had its expiry date which is Sep 5th.long way to go.but just opened the bottle and found moss.how is this even happening in a damn health store? Worst customer service and worst products! 0 star absolutely disgusted by the service… I am very happy with my healthy planet and not you rich blood sucking corporate damn fake big carrot stores! Please do better guys! I’m unable to post pics as a proof for this worst store and worst service!

They charge thirteen dollars plus tax for a gluten Free chicken and vegetable pie that literally has six tiny little pieces of chicken in the entire pie

There were no big carrots, only medium sized ones on sale. The staff are all wearing masks because of the skeletal customers with zero immunity whose only intake is vegetables. Sad sight to see. Some of the product is overpriced anyway, such as the incense which I've seen in other organic type stores.

Love the Carrot Kiten - particularly the veggie balls. It tastes at par (sometimes even better) with authentic veggie balls made in India. Our heartiest gratitude to the chef who makes it. Not only that, we have tasted a handful of varieties every now and then, everything seems to be very good. Even the burrito is so wholesome unlike the 'Toronto's top 10 burrito places'.

Located just beside the juice bar, this is a small but mighty food store where you can get everything you need including some lunch. They had a hot food section where you buy food by weight. I sampled quite of few of their dishes and it was great. The staff were nice too. I would recommend stopping by if you're in the neighbourhood.

I was extremely impressed. I ordered Tutti Gourmet’s gluten-free biscotti. It was an online order that I made from my home in Pickering. I came in this afternoon. I went into the Juice Bar to ask if I could pick up my order first (I was confused. First time customer!). The juice bar baristas pointed me to the grocery store. I walked around. I was still confused. I asked a produce clerk. He asked for a cashier and then went through all of the online orders personally to look for mine. He found my online order and seemed very happy to help me.

Then, I was so impressed by the merchandise, I went to the Body Care shop in the Carrot Commons. The supervisor greeted me right away. I showed him the items I screenshotted on my phone that I wanted to look at. He helped me find the items. Very friendly and cheerful. The female cashier was very kind and friendly, too. She signed me up to receive points.

I am a fan of gluten-free and organic products. I know where to go now!

This is my favourite grocery store in Toronto and I drive, bike, or transit 3 km to get there. Love, love, love this store and the fact that it is a cooperative (owned by employees). I’ve been a customer for ~15 years.

They deeply care about the food they sell, about the health and well-being of their customers, farmers, and the planet, and it shows! The staff will remember you and you’ll see the same faces year after year, instead of a revolving door.

Big Carrot has the best selection of organic produce, bread, meat, cookies, spreads, bulk foods, and a dispensary that has essential oils, vitamins, and sustainable toiletries. The main store also has pay-by-weight food/salad bar, and hot food including tacos, burritos, and rotisserie chicken. All organic! Try finding that at another store!

The prices are a bit more expensive for packaged goods but often cheaper for produce than elsewhere. If you are eco or health conscious, vegan, gluten-free, have other food allergies, or just appreciate high quality, this place is meca!

The Danforth location is a also part of a community space called Carrot Commons, with a garden on the roof, juice bar, dispensary, clothing store, bookstore, and now a Fresh location.

It’s better than Whole Foods (way too many conventional products including those ready-made and plastic bags for produce? !)

It’s better than Farm Boy (way too much unhealthy food especially ready-made, not as much organic, high prices, and don’t have all the items I buy regularly).

It’s better than Healthy Planet, though they are great for packaged goods and usually a bit cheaper, but can’t compete (yet) on produce, bread, and meat. That said, the new large format store near Mavis and Dundas in Mississauga is getting there.

You can spend 15 min or go for an hour or more and visit the other shops and grab a juice or smoothie or have lunch or dinner, or just sit in the courtyard and enjoy the vibe.

I hope you come to love it as much as I do!

If you are planning to purchase something from the dispensary, I wouldn't recommend trying to order in advance- just go. I called in an order once and it took them 15 minutes to find it behind the counter. Recently I place an order online and experienced the same thing. Very frustrating after a long day!

Hot food bowls & burritos are often out of certain key toppings which you find out 1/2 way thru building your bowl … various times of the day …. If your there 1 hour before closing you get the scrapings as the staff try to stretch it out rather than refill ….

Went grocery shopping here for the first time and the cashier Warren was delightful! So funny and unexpectedly brightened my day.

I went to the vitamins shop to buy a very specific vitamin. They didn't have it but they convinced me another one was the same. I bought it and I did some research. It was not the same and it was used to treat other conditions. I went back the next day, with the recipient intact. They didn't take it back, they didn't give me any refunds or any options, when it was their mistake. I am not going back. What a terrible customer service. And what an attitude.

Good variety of health foods, slow check out most of the time though. Would be nice if they update their rewards points program so you can scan it instead of saying the number out loud all the time.

Loyal customer since its inception. However, my visits dwindled from 3 per week to 2 a month. Extremely knowledgeable senior, older, staff were very helpful and friendly (insider tells me they were basically 'outcasted'). Replaced by moody staff. Appears current management does not have the skills needed to manage. Expensive - some items are cheaper at other health/grocery stores. 3 stars for enforcing mask policy, stanitising, providing gloves and crowd control (at customers expense of course).

By far the best availability of knowledgeable health-focussed staff such as nutritionists and cosmetics associates in one place.

They recently renovated to include a bulk market and a new cosmetics store (now across the courtyard). They also redid the layout of their grocery store, such as bread and spices. Will take a little getting used to, but it looks like a very organized and harmonious space.

I will continue to shop here because I would rather support this small business than their big box competitors. That being said, it is a bit pricey, but I bulk purchase on the 10x the points days to make it worthwhile.

They are very discriminatory towards people with mask exemptions. And for that reason, I will never shop there. I watched a video on Rebel News where their employees assaulted an elderly woman and her son, while they were trying to shop. Discrimination = boycott

Your store is run by Covid Karens and Kyles who seem to be above the law and harass and bully customers with medical exemptions. Your property manager is just as bad and compliant to these "make up as you go along rules". I hope to see a "FOR LEASE" sign in your front window in the not to distant future.

For a health store they sure don't understand what they are promoting. With their mask policy they basically are promoting snake oil salesman instead of natural immunity.
Sorry my business is going to businesses that will actually stand for what they sell.

I decided to try The Big Carrot as a way to help the local small businesses during the height of this pandemic, because now more than ever our small businesses need us. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant time shopping at the Big Carrot, mostly because I believe, the produce manager, Tara, was very condescending towards customers and her own employees. I believe she doesn't know how to keep her personal matters at home when bringing herself to work. It lead to a very uncomfortable experience, even when asking where a particular vegetable was in the department. I don't think I will be shopping here again, unless a change in management is done.

I really enjoyed the options the Big Carrot had at their store, but unfortunately rude employees make for an unpleasant shopping experience and does not entice any customer to want to return.

I've never been to the store and I'm sure it's a fine place. They've got a great opportunity to get good PR by explaining why they will so vigorously enforce any safety rule even if they are going in the face of the real Law.

I think the Big Carrot does not deserve some of the recent negative reviews indicating that they discriminate etc. I personally feel that the Big Carrot should be praised for its efforts to keep our community safe. By insisting that everyone wear a mask is a public health expectation that I am happy they enforce. There are options for those who do not want to wear masks such as home delivery or curbside pickup. The curbside pickup is a wonderful option because you order online and they have your order ready for pick up at no extra charge. Someone else does all the legwork. There are very few genuine medical exceptions to wearing a mask as most physicians will attest to, however, should you happen to someone who cannot please take into consideration that you are putting yourselves and others at risk by going maskless and should look to alternate means available for your shopping.

Horrific abuse of customers/human beings. I just warned my friends and family in Toronto area never to shop at that place.

This used to be a great place-now too small to distance safely, and a surprising proportion of unmasked or uselessly masked (mask below nose) people including occasionally staff!

I have been a costumer for many years but unfortunately the customer service is changed a lot. When I made a payment the guy threw the receipt on my face. I asked his name was Bashar

I had called The Big Carrot yesterday morning to put an item on hold, and the lady I was speaking to seemed rather rushed to get off the phone. The lady said that she could put the item on hold for me, and that was that. I asked her to check to see if she had the product first, and to confirm the price with me which she did. I wish I knew the name of the lady I spoke to, but what I can say is that it was one of the worst customer service experiences I got over the telephone. I hope I don't have to post another Yelp review for The Carrot again!

Wide selection of healthy and organic foods. Prices are not as competitive though as I can usually find the same product cheaper elsewhere. I still shop here from time to time as it's conveniently located but it is not my go-to shop anymore.

The Big Carrot is the worst health food store I have shopped at. The staff is rude and not very helpful. **Stay Away! **

A great and affordable selection of local organic produce and quality meats. Always something new to find with every visit. In terms of their policies, they have their rights to deny entry for whatever reason they want. They even have delivery and pick up for people who cant wear a mask for 10 minutes.

Great place to shop to find organic foods that are hard to find at other retailers like asparagus, grapes, ethnic veggies. Prices are quite high but it's worth the price to have organic and high quality items. Wellness area is great too, has items that have been very hard finding anywhere else like Episilk Hyaluronic Acid. Nice to see some Canadian brands available like Cocoon Apothecary.

Have heard one story after another of people being denied entry because of their mask exemptions. So much so that the manager assaulted a customer for having a mask exemption! Will never ever shop here!

I recently saw staff members here not only discriminate against customers with medical issues but also lay their hands on those customers. Discrimination of any kind is still discrimination! It doesn't matter if your store has chosen to disguise it as something else. If your store continues to disregard human rights it puts all of our human right at risk! But what is even worse is that their new store policies is apparently are above the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms!

The Carrot has been a welcome fixture of the Greektown community for many, many years and has been a great neighbour in all that time.

Unlike many of the recent, brigaded comments, I salute the Carrot for enforcing its mask mandate to keep us all safe when shopping there.

I will continue to be a patron for years to come.

The charter of rights and freedoms means nothing to these businesses owners.
Discrimination against the elderly and mask exempt is not acceptable!
If a customer comes in your store and is medically exempt from wearing a mask you cannot trespass them, harass them, ask for proof of medical exemption or force them to wear a mask.

“Our revised mask policy is non discriminatory”
Not allowing disabled persons inside your business is the DEFINITION of discrimination.

You are not above the charter, enjoy the lawsuits.
