The Bobcaygeon Inn

I went for a day visit for the first time to Bobcaygeon. Ended up having lunch at this Inn on the water. Decided to stay the night. I spoke with Jo, who was able to accommodate us on no reservation. They have a two night minimum stay, but Jo was able to override that policy to accommodate me. Thank you for your hospitality.

This was our first time here and not sure I would try it again. Waited 20 minutes for a server, asked 2different people for a server. Was told they were busy, yet the tables that were right beside us and seated after us got served right away. It was like we were at fault. So we got up and left. Not a very good way to treat your customers especially new ones. If a server is too busy to handle the tables allocated to them then other servers should pickup the slack not just ignore us.

The Royal Moose. We stopped in for a drink and wings and once we got seated no one even looked at us. 3 people behind the bar, 2 were on their phones, the waitress was at the food window and walked right by us without even looking at us once she delivered the food. 2 other tables had customers. We left after 10 mins.

Just went to the restaurant to grab a bite to eat and the service was pretty bad, the server could have been new which is understandable. However the food was quite sub par. I ordered a chicken wrap and it probably had half of a chicken tender in it and the rest was filler. The group of people i was with agreed and said that it was not worth the long wait for what should have been a quick meal.

Ate lunch at the royal moose. Cozy little restaurant. The staff was very friendly and helped us decide our orders. The food was great and so was the price. Also has a nice view of the river and a patio.

Beautiful day in April so we were able to have lunch on the patio. Food was exceptional and the patio on the water was great.

I concur with the previous complaint, and as a witness, I can attest to its veracity. Your accusation publicly stating our over-indulgence twice in a public forum is untrue, unacceptable and borderline slander! Your concern of an unsatisfactory review is preposterous. Dear Daniel/Joanne of Bobcaygeon Inn,

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the events that transpired on St. Patrick's Day at your establishment.

My friends and I were eagerly looking forward to enjoying the live band and possible dancing after our dinner. We were in high spirits and arrived at your inn sober and polite. We enjoyed two glasses of wine during dinner without any issue (with absolutely no alcoholic drinks the day of our arrival) ; however, after the meal, we were appalled by our server's decision to refuse us further alcohol service.

While I understand and respect the need for staff to exercise caution and responsibility when serving alcohol, it is glaringly apparent to me that our server had no appropriate reason to deny us service. I am confident that both you and she must have observed that I was not intoxicated, as we had just arrived and were well-behaved throughout our time at your inn.

It is disappointing and infuriating that you chose to stand behind such an unfounded decision. This situation not only cast a pall over our St. Patrick's Day celebrations, but it also has left us with a very negative impression of your establishment. I expect a ligament response explaining the reasoning behind this disregard for customer satisfaction and the impact it had on our evening overall.

Cannot recommend this place enough! The customer service was above and beyond! Friendly, accommodating and great price!

We emailed to see if the patio would be open and received the answer that it was weather dependent from noon 7 days a week. We were saddened to hear it was closed when we arrived after our 3 hour drive, however when we asked to see it, the owner and server were more than happy to lead us out so we could check it out. We were disappointed we couldn't enjoy it but when we asked if we could bring our drinks out they were more than accommodating and let us sit there and even turned on the music. Couldn't ask for more! It's been difficult to get the appropriate staff in order to warrant opening both the indoor restaurant and patio so they have to make a choice! We were very happy with the service and their willingness to oblige us. Great job! Thank you, we will be back!

The service was great and views of the water are really nice in the fall. The caygeon chicken sandwich was absolutely amazing. Would totally recommend.

We stayed one evening at the inn.
Pros:
- close to main street
- pets allowed
- husband had dinner at the restaurant and the service was good
- nice little view of the waterway
-bed was comfortable

Cons:
- the bathroom blinds were broken. We had to put a towel over the window for privacy. Only staying one night so no need to get it fixed. I should have taken a pic to show how bad it was
- musty smell in the room
- the restaurant entrance door slammed and would shake the room
- the restaurant washroom is down the hall from room- noise and traffic
- check out- no one was in the restaurant (that is where you check in and out) when we were ready to leave. (left at 8: 30 AM)

Would I recommend this place? No I would not. Unless you are in a bind and have no other options.

Wife and I did the patio one Saturday, weather was on our side, view was great, food was very good, try the Bobcaygeon Sandwich, it’s typically pub grub with a good tap selection. Not much parking around the day we were there it’s a busy town come summer pack some patients

New owners. The menu was terrible just pub food. Got rid of the clubhouse. Which is why I go there. Hope they bring it back.

Well never go here again! Service was terrible, after waiting patiently 30 minutes for a drink and to order our waitress forgot about us, the owner/ manager (really nobody) gave us actitud about been short staff and how we should know the problems with the industry! I suggested that they limit the number of people coming in if they are short staff. She stormed off. Time to find another line of business!

We did not stay at the Inn, but the pub had a great patio on the water, and very friendly staff. They are also dog friendly ️

In my 45 years I’ve never written a bad review but I will for this experience. I didn’t even try to get my money back because I think they needed it.
I came to the Bobcaygeon Inn about 8 months ago and then again recently. I had a good experience 8 months ago even though the rooms and service wasn’t the greatest. I came back and was greeted wonderfully however the building and rooms were not up to par. I only needed one night but I was told it was the summer season so I had to book two nights. I wish I had just said no. The Inn was completely empty.
I paid $350 for two nights. My guest was allergic to dust and coughed all night. We turned off the extremely loud air conditioning and dealt with the heat to avoid the dust from moving.
It was so muggy and dusty we didn’t sleep all night. We left at 6: 00AM and went to my friend’s house. I should of just stayed there the whole time. I went back to return my keys. I wanted to maybe credit my second night even though I didn’t want to go back. The guy Dan was so friendly before but didn’t even come to see me when I was displeased. He sent back to woman who went to retrieve him and she just came back rudely and said “well you can’t get your money back”
It’s a dive. I got ripped off and wasn’t treated with any respect.
I like to support local businesses…but not this one.

Great food, amazing view, cold drinks, dog friendly, right on the water and the owner and staff were super nice! Our new go to for boating season.

Only ate at the restaurant. They have a beautiful waterfront deck setting. Get there early.at least 11: 30, in the summer month's, or you may not get a seat. Food was good!

Came for food and was left feeling mmm delicious time! They have big rock brewery tragically hip lager which is great and the (Bob) caygeon chicken samdwich was too good 2 believe! ! I will tell everyone it so good

Fireplace in our room did not work, told the lady at the restaurant and she told us no one was working so there was nothing she could do. No hot water in the sink in the bathroom, again no one working. The food was good but the lack of workers and I understand it was the off season but 1 person working there would have been good!

Had the crunchy caygeon chicken sandwich. It is incredible! Best crunchy chicken sandwich I've ever had!

We had a great evening. Food was very good. All Staff were very welcoming.

Great place to spend an hour or two for a lazy weekend lunch with your dog and our of town guest. They'll be impressed with the good food, cold beer, friendly staff and, of course, the view.

Great food, had the Thai chicken salad. Sadly they forgot my garlic bread but salad was so filling so did I. Beer on tap was flat but tragically hip beer was good

If you're looking for a great place to hangout during the day and have a good time this is the place. Best wings in Bobcaygeon, pants down. Avoid the Widowmaker Hot ones, they'll ruin you

VERY DISAPPOINTING. Place is a pigpen. Do yourself a favor and check the room first. No one at desk when you register. Garbage all over the place and smell of urine in the hallway. We were suppose to stay 2 nights I asked for a refund (there was no contract) for the second night she said she couldn't do it her machine wouldn't let her? Stairway up to your room was absolutely disgusting. Suppose to have balcony was 1 foot wide and not stable and the 2 chairs were covered in bug poo. Spiders hanging there at night so can't use it anyway. Dogs allowed on the patio a big health concern. The food on the patio was alright but still don't know how it passes health regulations. Above reviews about rooms correct. BE AWARE

To many people gossiping along with the drama! Keep up the good work like, she know who she is.don't know how people can stab and talk about people behind their back when they aren't there to defend themselves.place will never change@ sad there's no way I'd have them working there.

I never had a bad meal at The Bobcaygeon inn, service always polite. Last saturday went for my wife's birthday with six others, busy time.
We where told max 2 hours sitting Time pasted quickly so relaxing spot
Our friends where verbally abuse for not leaving quicker? Not by our server by a taller guy working at check in
So disappointed by his attitude. Suggest a talk from a manager?

Our server Lauren was very good. Always checking on us. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.

When we arrived at the Inn, there was garbage overflowing from the bin and garbage all around. And to say the least the smell was very unpleasant. We arrived on a Monday afternoon and the trash was still there on Wednesday when we left. It was a little upsetting as my parents (aged 75 & 78) were with us. We didn't know where to check in and there was no signs. The only saving grace was that the rooms were clean. The bed in our room - room #19 was broken - the legs were broken under the bed. Our room was cleaned the next day with fresh towels, however my parents room was not.

Booked Oct 10/20 for a one night stay in Room 5. After check in we had to leave and didn’t return until late that night. Went immediately to bed when we got back. When we got up in the morning, we noticed a dirty sock under the night stand. AND the sheets were covered in black hair! There was a clump of hair on the towel in the towel rack. Toilet seat, well you best sit carefully as it would of fell off! When checking out I informed the lady at the desk and she seemed upset. The manager/owner who was seated at a table replied, Oh there were 2 dogs in that room! Do they not change sheets, etc when new people are arriving? He offered no apology, no compensation, absolutely nothing! I would never ever stay there again and hope upon reading this you won’t either! Totally disgusting was the room and the attitude of the manager/owner!

Price was a little bit high. The food was good but service was slow. Had to call for service and remind her for things she should have brought automatically

We rent a houseboat every year and always make sure we go to Bobcaygeon at least for a day. We love the restaurants, shops and people. Our favourite patio is this one. Good food, good people and a great view of the boats coming and going. The patio at the Bobcaygeon Inn is the go to for my family!

Place under renovations and a mess. Aircon not working properly. A bit of a dump. No house keeping due to covid. Not impressed and wouldn't wastes my time here again.

1. Despite being a party of six, they had us crowd around a table for four, even though there were TWO tables available for 6-8 people, and this place doesn't take reservations.
2. Major wasp problem. There must be a nest nearby because they had a wasp trap hanging up and it was full. We even captured two wasps in our iced tea cups with plates over the top.
3. The kitchen screwed up my order, but, as the waitress advised, I just ate what I was given because the kitchen was so slow (how is this possible given the half-full patio and closed dining room?) that I would have received the right meal after everyone else at my table had eaten.
4. They gave us a cutlery-and-condiment box without ketchup, so we asked for a bottle, and the waitress went behind the bar and had a lovely, joking, 5-minute conversation with another staff right in our view before getting the ketchup for us.
5. The food was.well, subpar for the price. Small menu, no salads.
6. The owner was there, and didn't seem to notice any problems at all, but just gassed with the regulars.

In short, we will avoid this place in future.

Dog friendly staff old fashion inn our room was overlooking the river and just a 2 minute walk to the lock and downtown. Room 16 is where the long balcony is on the right hand side of the picture

Our family booked a room for 4.2 Teenagers and 2 adults. When we arrived they have us a room with one bed and offered no solution. The wifi didn't work. Running the microwave blew the circuit. The phone didn't work, we had to use our cellphones to call the "front desk" to get the power back on.

It was nice, we sat on the patio and enjoyed the water front view. I had wings they were good but I don't think 8 pieces is the advertised 1 lb. And 2 thin slices each of carrot and celery made me chuckle.
All in all thanks for providing a nice night out with my wife through this covid era.

A quaint little hotel on the waterfront that is clean and basic. Perfect place to spend a night or 2

Firstly on arrival there was no one to check in. We had to find someone outside and she was not very welcoming. She had been cutting the grass so we seemed like an inconvenience. She led us into a inside bar area that looked like it had seen better days and the first thing she said was” Check in is 3 your room is not ready. ” No welcome to Bobcaygeon, where are you from.the usual chatter. I guessI looked a little dismayed so she said we could do the paper work but would have to check back. She charged us 155.00 per night but when I called and booked they had told me it was 135.00 for room 20 one of the renovated rooms. Since we had no choice we paid. Then I said I guess we can wait in the patio, it was 2 o, clock when we arrived and she told us how to enter. Was very concerned as wait staff not adhering to wearing masks and there were patrons with large dogs on the patio.not service dogs. We had to approach her agin around 4 to see if room was ready and would have appreciated her to come to us as it is a small patio and we were in direct view of her as she was sitting and having lunch/ beverages on the patio as well. I suppose she was the owner however she never did introduce herself. The kitchen staff was not wearing mask either. Patrons walking around talking to each other without masks. Did not feel very comfortable. The next day some wait staff were wearing these unusual looking plastic masks and when I asked where they got them, staff replied a guy named Joe brought them. They did not consistently wear them properly or at times took them off. They did offer hand sanitizer on entry. As there was really nowhere else to go except into town, we ate there. The food was good, pub food. Just hoping I am COVID free from our 2 days there. The room was renovated and big however jacuzzi tub not working properly with the drain and the taps not working on sink which we reported but was not looked at while we were there. Parking is limited so it you do want to go out and return for the day, there may not be a space for you so we just walked around a bit into town which is quite close however my spouse is using a cane waiting for knee surgery so wasn’t, that easy to keep walking into town. We did have lunch and drinks in town at 2 separate places and they were following the rules. We also had to bring luggage upstairs and no one asked if we needed help. I know they are renovating now but outside one of our windows, it looked like a junk yard with old things scattered around, nothing to do with renovations. There were also a lot of garbage, boxes and plastic jugs piled up at side of road beside the parking lot. Very disappointed all in all. Would not recommend this place.too bad as it looked so nice in the pictures.

My friends and I sat on the patio. Our waitress was top notch. She was really funny and fast with our drink orders and the food came quickly. The food was delicious pub fare and the portions were big. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again.

Love the patio and the food but disappointed that the waitresses were not wearing masks as they were when we first visited this season. The waitress we had the last 2 visits was terrible. Dropped our order and was never seen again until I searched her out for our bill. Needless to say she didn't receive a tip.

newly renovated room 7. Dan the owner is great, welcoming and friendly. Good food at the restaurant with amazing view right beside the water.we stayed until they closed and had some drinks with great conversation. Did some floating down the river as well. Would recommend for sure and plan to go back!

The feeling of the inn is welcoming. You are eating a homecooked meal good portion at a very fair price.

What a charming, accommodating Inn located right in the heart of Bobcaygeon on the water. The rooms were great, although I must say the renovations are appealing I still love the charm coziness of the older rooms. Their patio/restaurant/bar has water views, great service and menu. I would highly recommended going for food & drinks with friends and family. The value for money from the rooms to the food is the best I’ve seen in a long time. The owner has done an absolutely amazing job with this Inn and we can’t wait to come back in the future!:)

The place gets better every time we visit. Clean and renovated rooms, friendly and accommodating staff, fast service, tasty food in the patio restaurant. Definitely coming back again! Recommend.

Super rude staff as they have not welcomed me back due to “noise complaints” from past experience being there. Meanwhile we are dealing with drunk employees at the bar being unkind to customers, and food being served to the wrong people without being compensated for the wait time due to that happening.

Great location with bright clear river view

Room was big, clean, Seems to be newly updated. Was a last minute idea for us as a cpl. Management was extremely friendly and accompanying. Food was of good portions and tasted great. We were both very happy with our decision that we chose the bobcaygeon inn for our weekend stay.

I was there for an evening wedding reception. The food was delicious and the staff were very kind and attentive. Didn't get a chance to see the exterior much but the view is beautiful.

We stayed at the Bobcaygeon Inn on January 13,2020. Check-in was a breeze, (the rates are fantastic) and the girl that checked us in was awesome! They accept debit, credit cards & cash. As we were headed to our room, Daniel (the new owner since May 2019) greeted us personally and said he would see us at dinner. We stayed at the room with the balcony (room 17) overlooking the water. The room was spotless and the new bed was super comfy, slept like a baby. We had the rib dinner, which was delicious and the girl serving us was fantastic. The new owners are Daniel & Joan and although I didn’t get to meet Joan, Daniel was in the dining room/bar the entire time making sure his overnight guest and the guest in the restaurant were happy and well taken care of. Daniel spoke about all the renovations they have done since taking over, the ones they are currently working on and some of their longer term plans, all fantastic ideas. They are currently reaching out to some bands to play in the bar and on the patio in the summer months. My husband and I own a fishing and hunting resort in Quebec and I would gladly refer all my customers to the Bobcaygeon Inn on their way up to us. The entire atmosphere is very welcoming, cozy and it was a real pleasure meeting Daniel and his staff. We wish both of you all the best and Daniel‘s (and Joan) enthusiasm with all his plans are contagious. Drop in for a meal or stay the night, you won’t be disappointed
