Refuse to return my deposit despite repeated attempts to contact them. All emails go unanswered

UPDATE: Got my deposit back within 24 hours of posting this review. The management here doesn't care until you make a complaint on a public forum. The building manager also assured us we would get compensation after flood damage, but has since gone very quiet. If you decide to move here don't trust the management's word. Get everything in writing

I stopped by to visit friends and ran into James in the coffee shop. He made time for an impromptu tour through the gym, rooftop, and pool. The views are stunning and the location is perfect. Thanks, James!

I have been living here for about 2 years now and I can say it’s been an amazing two years! The amenities are amazing, the people are friendly, the neighbours and neighbourhood is very welcoming. I also have to say the staff have been nothing but kind and supportive. A special thanks to the lovely concierges and to Kevin! He has always done above and beyond for me and always greeted me with a smile and a welcoming attitude. I feel so privileged and spoiled living here! Last but not least it’s dog friendly!

I moved in here right after it opened and the unit had a lot of issues, but having said that, the management, maintenance, and even company itself worked to make things right, getting the work done quickly and even providing a financial concession.

Shoddy construction is just par the course for new buildings, unfortunately, but if you accept that reality, the folks running this place will provide a welcoming environment and the units and amenities themselves are large and relatively well priced, all things considered.

The staff members are great.

I would not recommend this building as the walls and doors are paper thin. You will hear every noise in the hallway/neighbouring units/balconies. There was also constant AC issues. Working from home in this building was very difficult.

I have lived here, going on two years now, and I am very pleased. Understandably with new construction there are occasional hiccups, but I have not been inconvenienced by any of them. What strikes me most is the friendliness of the staff. The head concierge, Kevin, is one of the nicest, most helpful people you could ever meet, and Paul is so warm and friendly whenever I pass by the reception desk. When I have had occasional problems with things like my thermostat, issues have been dealt with promptly and in a very friendly manner. Emma, in particular, goes out of her way to replace things or get them working again and does so with patience and good humor. Very happy with my decision to move here.

I am giving this condo one star. The building claims to be luxurious with state-of-the-art equipment, but the HVAC system is a nightmare. It's impossible to switch easily from heating to AC, despite their promises on the sales - leasing process

In a recent public email communication to the tenants, the administration stated that the heating and cooling systems cannot be run simultaneously. They asked us to understand that there will be an uncomfortable shoulder season in the Spring and Fall when cold and hot temperatures overlap.

The administration also claimed to be monitoring long-term forecasts to confirm the best time for a switch-over, but they have not yet confirmed a specific date. This lack of clarity is frustrating. Transition should happen now, we may have some cold days in the next weeks but the hard winter is already gone

Honest feedback after one year of living.living experience is not the greatest.the good stuff. If you don’t know Kevin you’re missing out he is the absolute best probably oracle of the brixton, Claudio is the second go to person and helped me with all my inquiries. Amenities are good except for overpromised finite pool. Now the bad stuff sharp 7am construction work will wake you up. It is horrifying for my new born baby to wake up to such loud noises. The lobby stinks bad in the afternoon walking through makes me nauseous.theres no access to the floor from stairs if one elevator doesn’t work you have to wait 10mins for the other just to get to your floor instead of taking stairs.

When I first moved in here I loved it, the staff were great, everything was going smoothly, but that bubble was soon burst.

There are tenants here that went two months without heating, the doors are locking us out of our units, the taps are falling off, the sinks are falling in because they were put in poorly, the construction is finally over, but they started wayyyy to early in the morning (breaking noise bylaws) and woke everyone up, the garage door keeps breaking, and overall the building is just built as cheaply as possible! Plus I lived here since before the amenities that I paid so much to have access to were finished and the PM had the audacity to try and raise my rent by $400-$500 and it took me weeks to actually get ahold of the PM and point all this out to her!

Point is that the concierge and the other staff are fantastic and I love my neighbors, but managent is impossible to get ahold of and this place just isn’t worth it until they fix…. Well everything.

Edit: I’m using a pen name here because I genuinely believe that management would use this review against me or as leverage for something

I am living in this apartment almost for a year and since I moved in there thousands of issues happened the building is out of control.

First of all, if you want a home warm and cozy stay away from here. My heating unit is broken almost for a month. No update from neither management nor maintenance when this will be solved. Under the residential act they have to fix it asap to provide vital service but they do nothing! The unit itself is colder than outside and it’s snowing outside! All residents have issues with hot water or heating and this is a 2-year-old building.

Every encounter you will have with management another disaster. They even can’t give you the proper answer when you ask them something.

Horrible treatment of tenants, no heat, no hot water, and no responses from property management. They also slapped us with a $500 rent increase for renewal when we this building isn't even finished and currently facing huge noise for construction. But these are luxury condos, eh Rhapsody?

Horrible experience with the racist security/concierge on the afternoon of November 11,2022. I had to drop off something for my friend and upon entering the building, I was greeted with hostility and suspiciousness by the security and was followed to my friend’s floor. The concierge tried to casually play it off, but I know exactly what was going on. She followed ne when I took the elevator back down and left the building. Be aware if you’re a BIPOC person entering these premises, even if you live there.

Train your staff better, I’m sickened by this experience!

I moved in almost 2 months ago and so far really happy I made the decision to make the Brixton my home. The staff here are very friendly and approachable. Shout outs to my leasing consultant Wendy who guided me through the rental process and was extremely helpful and patient with all the questions I had. And to Kevin and the maintenance team who have provided great customer service and resourcefulness with anything I have brought to their attention. The facilitates and unit features are gorgeous too.

My family’s experience at the Brixton has been wonderful. The team has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our stay here has been a pleasurable one. The gym is top notch and the amenities including the roof top pool and meeting rooms are amazing. Our unobstructed view displays colourful homes, parkland showcasing the season and Toronto’s quintessential tower. Our location is unbeatable providing easy access to unique shopping, restaurants, city centre, the lake and high park.

The building was built during Covid and has excelled through the crisis and built itself into a wonderful place to live. The staff are reasonably and helped me well and beyond their duties. This was my first apartment in my own name though I am Canadian. It’s hard for someone on disability with a service animal to find a home keeping one is a challenge also. This building and it’s staff have does everything and more to help me and I recommend this place to anyone looking for safety, compassionate service and luxury all things are found at THE BRIXTON.

The place itself is nice, but the management is absolutely horrible to deal with if you have problems. I was miss billed for 9 months straight and the management doesn’t have an actual clue of what I owe them. The lady who I was dealing with was literally screaming at me and now is just beating around the bush. It’s not my fault they billed me wrong, but please resolve it in a appropriate manner, I would not recommend this to anyone due to the terrible management.

From neighbors that do not know how to respect your privacy to constant construction with no tell of when it'll stop, the Brixton has not been an ideal place to live in. Unfortunately my experience here has not reflected the values that Brixton claims to have for their residents and I hope they can become more organized in the future with timelines, claims, and proper notices. On a side note, we never received any of the promotions that we were told we would get upon moving in, it has been several months since. I have also noticed issues with the bathroom fans, they do not seem to work and a good amount of water accumulates on the walls and mirrors every time the shower is used; leaving subtle water marks afterward. The faucets on every hand-washing sink are inadequate as they are too short so if you wash your hands, you get an accumulation of water all over the counter; no matter how careful you are.

Not to mention, the walls are paper thin and you can easily hear residents talking in their suites from the hallway and it is very easy to hear things through the walls even inside our suiter at times. Every morning I am taunted by the bark of a dog from either down the hall or even through surrounding floors. This obviously causes a lot of tension as it is more likely that neighbors feel the need to complain about volume levels in surrounding suites.

So far I have noticed that there is hardly any regard for personal privacy coming from certain individuals in the building and it has made our stay here uncomfortable to a degree.

Although the building looks nice and is designed well, our experience here has not been enjoyable in these ways.

They are just pathetic.they took our 500 dollars deposit and returned after 2 months after so many follow ups… Bad customer service when we finally reached there to pick up our cheque the concierge told us that they didn’t about the check or any connection with the management and they are just security and not the concierge after that we called customer service and waited outside the building and after seeing building representative I chased her and asked about my cheque.she took me to the same concierge/ security who denied before about the cheque had cheque on her drawer.straight lies from 2 months till we caught them…off guard. Thank God we didn’t lease with this property

Smoooothest experience ever.
From viewing the place, to renting it. It has been an absolute dream to be involved with The Brixton’s team.
Claudio, from the leasing team was very understanding, communicative and honest. He understood our needs, and was VERY accommodating of any changes we put forward. The concierge team is just splendid, Wendy & Kevin are just a delight to sore eyes, they can solve any problem or issues. They were very helpful and made us comfortable instantly in our new place, that we call home so proudly.
Terry and his whole team is very helpful.
The amenities are so great to have, very enjoyable, always clean!

The app is another masterpiece, everything at the touch of our fingers, I do not have to think twice for any help if needed. Very responsive and easy to use.

Never thought I could love a condo building so much. Big Brixton fan over here.

I was nervous moving into an apartment alone for the first time during a pandemic, but the Brixton has continued to go above and beyond to make me comfortable, happy and at home. From the welcome package (gift cards, wine, merch, a hand written note) to the kindest concierge (shoutout to Wendy and Kevin!), and help from Terri to hang all my art, AND not to mention the amazing amenities… I feel lucky to call this place home.

We had an awesome tour here with Claudio who was incredibly helpful and informative. The finishes here are sleek and modern and the building has a ton of great amenities. Ultimately it didn’t work out for us because the suites weren’t quite what we were looking for but the excellent experience meant we ended up going with another Rhapsody building in Toronto!

My gf and I moved in back in October and so far the experience has been incredible! After a string of bad landlord/living experiences downtown, we were pretty hesitant and had a ton of questions about the building/amenities/conditions/quality.etc. Well it has been a very pleasant surprise! Our leasing agent Maria answered all of our questions and concerns while helping us find the best option for our interests. The Building is literally brand new. The staff are extremely respectful and Kevin has been very helpful!

Our experience at The Brixton has been nothing short of amazing till now. It has been 25 days since we moved here and below are my observations.

Pros:
• The entire experience of looking for the right apartment on The Brixton’s website (including floor plan, pricing etc.) to scheduling an appointment for an in-person viewing was extremely simple.
• The building is new, and the apartments are well designed and equipped with brand new appliances.
• The deals are good!
• The entire Brixton team is extremely helpful and put in great efforts to ensure a great experience for the residents.
• The community app is great, and the management is quick to respond. Maintenance requests are also dealt with promptly.
• Location is great. Close to grocery stores and the trendy West Queen West neighbourhood. Well-connected to public transport. (Bus stand is right across the street and you can get a streetcar from Queen Street)

Cons
• Some units, especially the north facing ones barely get any sunlight.

Looking forward to the amenity spaces opening from next month!

I've been living at The Brixton for more than a month now and I have to say it is absolutely the best place I've lived in so far! Great location (every store you'd need is a few steps away) and probably the best (and quickest) management team aside, the buildings have a very unique/modern/classy vibe which I find very inspiring. Everybody here is so nice and friendly, it's almost incredible! My unit has an awesome skyline view, and really gives me the living-in-a-city feel I've always wanted!
All thanks to Maria, my leasing consultant, who deserves a special shout-out. She is absolutely a marvel and one of the nicest and most effective people I've ever met! She went out of her way to understand and accommodate my needs as a renter and helped me find the perfect apartment!
All-in-all, I am extremely in love and awe with everything about The Brixton and I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a home! They have made my move to Canada an absolute delight!

They claim that these are luxurious condos, but in reality they are unfinished condos in a literal construction site. We walk pass all these scaffolds whenever we go out, and the construction noise wakes us up every weekday morning at 7am. The community amenities they promise on their website (e.g, swimming pool, gym) are nowhere to be found. The elevators still do not work properly (e.g, we tried to go to the car park last Sunday afternoon and the elevators just don't go down). Our unit amenities, including the dishwasher and both bathrooms' fans, are also not working. We sent a maintenance request at least 4 weeks ago and they still haven't repaired anything. They claim to gift Netflix and Ritual coupons as move-in perks, but we have never received them. Just now when I was having a Zoom meeting, they did a fire alarm testing without giving any prior notice. This place is a disaster.

I moved to Canada last week and I am happy to call Brixton my first home. Brand new community, super responsive and helpful staff and great apartment could not have asked for anything better. Moving from outside Canada we had to rely on our leasing agent for information and Maria was very helpful throughout the process making it very seamless for us to move in.

I’m a realtor at Sotheby’s and have seen thousands of rentals across the GTA. The Brixton is a 5 star rental building! We have had a great experience so far at The Brixton! The team has been welcoming, responsive, timely and helpful. Our leasing agent Sheena has been exceptional, from providing a virtual tour of the units/building to greeting us in person on our move-in day. The Brixton App is a helpful platform to have all our apartment information in one place, and to submit all maintenance requests. The building itself is quiet, modern and stylish. The events hosted by the Brixton also promote a sense of community and are really generous. All staff from maintenance personnel, to concierge have been warm and approachable. Overall, a great experience thus far.

As an out of towner moving to the city I had an infinite number of unknowns and uncertainties about where I would live, where I would be comfortable and whether I would be able to find a place to call home. Not surprisingly I looked and inquired with a number of properties, The Brixton standing out because of its stunning Art Deco inspired design aesthetic, its vibrant location, the spacious and meaningfully thought out suites and the incredible amenities to extend your living space.

But why did I pick The Brixton? I can confidently say it was my leasing consultant, Sheena. Where so many other properties viewed an inquiry as transactional; Sheena viewed an inquiry as relational. With sincerity and authenticity she cultivated this experience that left an impression on me that The Brixton strives to create a feeling of community, connection and belonging. I picked The Brixton because it was the only property where I felt like I belonged long before I said yes, then continuously throughout the lead up to move in day and most certainly since I've arrived. There is family here, there is community. The staff are friendly, the concierge are lovely and of the residents that I've met so far; all are incredibly kind and welcoming.

The Brixton is a fabulous place to live. The building is beautiful as is our suite. We anxiously await completion of the amenities. As other reviews have noted, the staff here is fantastic. The concierge team is super friendly and watch out for us. Claudio, our back up leasing agent is wonderful and our leasing agent Maria is outstanding. She is genuinely lovely, cares about us, and is very conscientious - she's quite special and we thank her for her help.

The building and amenities are already something to brag about, but the selling point is hands-down the staff. From initial tour to signing my lease, every interaction in between has been handled with the utmost kindness and professionalism. You would be hard-pressed to find a gem like this in the city.

If you’re looking to live in a half finished development where the staff has little to no information on what’s going on and timelines (when will the gym be ready/open?), where policies can’t be explained and the property management team doesn’t follow up on complaints, then this might be for you.

Many things were confirmed and promised by the leasing agent, but once moved in this had changed (access to stairs to avoid the elevator, for example, had been confirmed but now that I’m moved in it’s forbidden to take the stairs up).

The building is still very much under construction and noisy during the day.
None of the amenities are ready, nor have we been informed of a timeline.
The building has an app to apparently communicate with the front desk staff but they aren’t very responsive.
Management has failed to reply to any of the emails I’ve sent out to them.

All in all, a great location and “pretty” building but a disappointing experience so far. Sure the move in promos are enticing, but definitely not worth all the issues.

Admittedly I was skeptical about the Brixton at first. It looked too nice, the people were too friendly. I thought "There's gotta be a catch". Now, having fully moved in, I can say I was wrong. It was an amazing experience. Our leasing agent Maria treated us like family and was genuinely interested in finding us the most suitable suite for our family and lifestyle. The process never felt rushed, she didn't try to upsell us so that we went out of budget and she answered all our emails promptly. When she wasn't available, her teammates Curtis and Sheena took care of us, answering the most random questions and odd requests. Only time will tell if the rest of our time here would be as great as the start but from our experiences with concierge (shout out to Wendy), the promptness of the maintenance staff and the general vibe of the building, there's nothing to indicate that it won't be. I highly recommend living at The Brixton. One of the strong points of residing here is the location. It is conveniently situated around great spots, bars, and shops. It is also close to the city, but far enough from the hustle-bustle. Second, the building is pretty new and so are the appliances in your unit. Aside from having friendly neighbours who will greet you when they see you, the staff makes the experience apart from other property management companies. Everyone is courteous, genuine, and helpful, particularly Sheena Tan! My move into my unit wouldn't have been smooth if not because of her. She responds to my queries promptly and cheerfully, which makes my experience stress-free. She is indeed a real asset to the team and to the whole Brixton community.

I can’t give 5 stars since I never moved into the building. But I would say my experience with Maria was really good and made the process of searching for a new place enjoyable. The team did everything they could with the resources they had to explain the benefits of living at the brixton. Keeping in mind this was during a time where in person viewings were not permitted. If you are in the market for a brand new apartment I would highly recommend reaching out to learn more about this building.

If the building itself wasn't enticing enough, the team putting it all together is absolutely amazing! From Maria, my leasing consultant, to the building management, concierges, security, maintenance, etc EVERYONE is honestly the most delightful, welcoming and in great spirits. It's truly such a pleasure to be around, and looked after, by such wonderful individuals. My puppy and I are very happy here and look forward to seeing the finished product of all 4 buildings:)

Love the layout of my unit and the finishing's are on point! The app for all things Brixton related is genius too.

We visited the leasing gallery back in November 2020 and was introduced to Maria Angeloni, one of the leasing agents. Maria was immediately very kind, warm and professional. She offered us drinks and snacks and made us feel at home. She sat down with us for over half an hour and described everything about The Brixton and what it has to offer in great detail. She showed us floorplans of all of the units and helped us choose one that best suited our needs. She happily answered all of our questions and gave us a bag of goodies to top it all off.

We were sold. We signed a lease shortly after and moved into The Brixton in April 2021. There were some hiccups along the way with construction being delayed because of the pandemic, but Maria and Rhapsody Management went above and beyond to solve all of our problems and get us moved into our new home. We have now been happily living at The Brixton for nearly two months and could not recommend it enough.

Maria Angeloni was amazing to work with throughout the leasing process. She listened to what my needs were and answered any question that I had about the building/floor plans in a timely manner to help me decide on a suite that checked all the boxes. I could not be more pleased!

Since moving in, Maria has followed up to make sure I have settled in and I have also had the pleasure to be greeted by the amazing Rhapsody Team including Concierge, Property Management and Maintenance. Everyone makes sure that no question remains unanswered. I would highly recommend The Brixton for anyone who is looking to move to the area and is also looking for a truly pet friendly building!

This will be my first time living in an apartment building and you'd imagine I had so many questions. The leasing consultant I worked with Maria Angeloni was able to patiently answer all of the questions I had prior to me signing the lease and before I moved in. She was super personable and professional and the customer service she provided was top-notch. The rest of the staff (on-site/at the building) were also very helpful, answering occasional questions here and there and helping me settle into the unit during my first week at the building. Happy with them all!

I could not be happier with the Brixton and our leasing consultant, Maria Angeloni. She was an absolute delight to work with, sweet and friendly and very informative. My fiance and I moved in with our dog and she made sure we had everything ready before, during, and after our move. She's the best. And so is our apartment! The finishes are modern and sleek and it instantly felt like home.

The rest of the staff of the building (concierge, electrician, maintenance, etc) have be WONDERFUL. I've lived in apartments and condos before and this is by far the best customer service and all-around environment I've ever lived in. We were some of the first to move in so we don't have many direct neighbors yet but we're so excited to live here!

This place has re-instated my faith in apartment buildings! Coming from New York City, and having lived in several apartment buildings throughout my life, I can confidently say, that by far this was the best I ever saw! The finishes are top notch, the thoughtful touches everywhere and the workmanship and the staff, that is employed to channel all the virtual experience to a real one by interacting with them, all are excellent. Specifically, Maria who worked with my family very closely to find the perfect solution for what we really were looking for, and was patient to answer all the questions and more! She would send images and pictures and be very easy to work with, as if its my best friend shopping alongside me for my next home. I have to say, working with Maria really was a pleasure. She goes above and beyond to make sure its not just a sale interaction, but indeed a relationship you are building with the community you are going into. I am so excited for this new building to open up, and looking forward to being able to live in the finest communities of West Queen!
