Waited 30 minutes and didn't even get glanced at by the staff ended up leaving because nobody served us. Ridiculous

First time trying Captain Boil and I really enjoyed it! We ordered the Matey’s feast. It came with fries+fried shrimp, big portion of fried rice, two bags of seafood (shrimp and clam), and a bag of vegetables. The seafood is fresh and the Captain Boil sauce is a bomb. It’s an amazing experience eating with hands. Will definitely come back!

Was excited to have food ordered online for takeout/pick up for a birthday celebration. Was really surprised how tiny the serving portions were, what with price of each dish. The $24.00 clams with 2 sides was insanely so little (not shown as it is frustating to see it again), the $17.00 calamari was in a half takeout container, the $20.00 seafood fried rice is not served even full in a takeout box, ridiculously small portion, $18.00 shrimp basket is a joke. $9.00 Cajun fries in a small box, does not even taste good as before, $20.00 10 pc.chicken wings was the saving grace.tastes good as ever. Total amount of takeout was about $120.00 incl tax. Go somewhere else for your moneys worth. Stay away from this restaurant!

This is one of the worst locations, this establishment is filled with young teens that have no clue what they are doing the food isn’t tasty or handled well. I got crab legs with out sauce and you could see all the dirt and debris on the crab, it had crab leeches on it (they didn’t clean the crab) and the sauce I ordered on the side was extremely salty

I changing my review from 3 stars to 1. I placed an order for my usual mateys feast and lobster poutine. The website said it would take 1 hr before it is ready. I am still here 2 hrs later waiting for my order. They ran out of cooked rice is what I was told. I know they forgot to cook my whole order. I would not suggest coming here. Find a better restaurant.

I feel like the quality of crab has gone down, it's not the same as it was years ago. Especially for the price they charge.

I went in on my one day off as I wanted to treat myself, I was not disappointed. I was served by an incredible lady, her name was Eliza. She was incredibly kind and friendly! The food was amazing and I highly recommend their wings.

Placed an online order. Was told it would be ready in an hour. Arrived at the store and had to wait over an hour because “we ran out of rice” finally got my order. The rice is over cooked. There’s no spice or flavour. Don’t know who’s cooking in this store lately but worst service and food ever. And to top it off a lot of the items we ordered aren’t even in the bag. Would never go back. The manager was not helpful at all. Tried to talk to her while waiting over an hour and she literally ran away and hid from the customers who were complaining.

Overall, my first and last visit to this place. I've had better seafood for the price we paid. The server came once when we asked of our missing order. The washroom after eating seafood does not even have soap to wash your hands. The service was very slow even when was not busy.

The idea that you can not have fries instead of a baked potato goes against probably 99% of restraunts in the world. Usually the boiled potato is a premium. I would not support the idea of not getting the included potato which came out cool and pay extra for fries.
I hate stupidity. This really is the ultimate.
No need to return to this chain since I would have to be reminded of this stupidity.
Storage is seen in hall and at rear of seating area. Light fixtures are very dirty.
Meals are not exactly cheap and they serve drinks in paper cups? Shows absolutely No pride.
Waiting for our meal while typing this. Hope at least it will be decent. Potato was actually cool in the centre. The shrimp was rather hard (probably frozen product) somewhat tough!
At least our waitress showed care. No management on site. Around 330 on Saturday?

Such an amazing place! The workers are so kind and the food there is unbelievable! I went there for a birthday recently and the place was beautiful, the workers are so kind and helpful when asking about the items on the menu. The service is amazing and I love going there.

Would definitely recommend going there!

Celebrated father’s 80th birthday! Party of 10, food came together in a reasonable amount of time and tasted great. Server was cheerful and provided great service.

Absolutely the worst service I have ever experienced. Sat for 45 mins before anyone came over to our table to take our order. Another 30 mins to get our drinks. When our food came out finally, they were missing our rice order. Our rice finally come out when we were just finishing up our broil. And they brought it out in a to go box lol. Like we wore out our welcome. Anywhere waitress said they were going to comp our rice, but didn’t instead took a total of $8.00 off my $130 bill. My tip was bigger than the discount. I’m absolutely appalled by this restaurant, I hope they enjoy my $118 because they will never ever see another penny from me.

We decided to try this place for my sons birthday since he loves seafood.
Well guess we should of looked into it a bit more. Food was served in a plastic bag which is different and given gloves to pull your food out and put on your plate. Lobster tail was tasty my sides were corn and potato and there’s no condiments like sour cream, butter, salt or pepper. My son ordered the side rice it came in a styrofoam cup just a round blob of white rice no butter etc our drinks came in paper cups which is weird. All around consensus was pricey, messy and won’t be back.
Server was pleasant and food was served hot and pretty quick.

I came here yesterday night with a few of my friends and we were immediately greeted by a server the staff were very friendly throughout our whole visit. Everything on the menu looked and sounded amazing but we were very happy with what we chose!

Had the best experience dining here this week. It's a great place to meet with friends or family. Our waitress was really attentive and sweet. The food is always the best and the prices are cheap too. I will definitely continue coming and I recommend it to everyone.

First time visiting last night. The food was fresh, great tasting and good presentation, We ordered extra to take home. The service was excellent. Our server Shan-E was quick and friendly, went over the menu and how to use it, and our drink refills were frequently filled and never empty. She stopped and asked about our day and made the overall experience 5 stars. Because of our server and the taste of food, we will 100% be back.

YUM, LOVE THE CAPTAIN BOILS SIGNATURE SAUCE.took it with medium heat. Tried the shrimps and lobster. Lobter was a little over priced. It was a super fun experience! Cute apron, gloves, and it feels like you're going to do an operation with the scissors, and instruments lol. Fun experience

Food was great and arrived at the table warm!
We had the captain's feast and it was delicious.
The crab and shrimp were the slightest bit overcooked but I would rather that than under cooked.

Went in for all you can eat shrimp, they don't bring you a lot and make you wait but service was good

Had dinner in the Ajax location tonight. Food was great. Lots of it. Only thing missing was a wet nap to wash my hands off after the meal. Other than that it will definitely be on my goto list.

Such a fun experience and the food was great! Abimbola was quite literally the best server I’ve ever had. He was so kind and attentive and really made our first visit to this restaurant something special! Any restaurant would be lucky to have him. Thank you for such a lovely evening!

My first time in here and definitely will come back. Perfect for family or groups. Foods were great and worth the prize, seafood fried rice was tasty but oily though (dont know if its because of the crab fats). The place is clean and the server was friendly as well. I would like to try other location and other dishes. Overall, two thumbs up and will recommend not only to friends who loves seafood but to friends who simply loves to eat.

Rice is so good, lots of other locations make the rice so oily but this is perfect. Also big portion.

Sauces for seafood are not salty. Add-on Veggies are fresh and a lot

I will give it a 3 because I PERSONALLY didn't like it, maybe my husband and his son but I didnt I was greeted by a lovely waitress name zahra she did a wonderful job serving us, it wasn't her that was the problem FOR ME was just the food and I knew that the price would be pricey but my husband wasn't so fond of paying that price, and as a margarita fan I was not impressed at all and the fries weren't good, didn't like the fries oh and the captain boil sauce i didn't even know what kind of flavour it was and the rice deff needs some type of salt or something cause they had no flavour was not worth the 230 I spent.sorry

I have emailed as requested and still have not heard back. This is awful! I am truly disgusted by this type of treatment and management!

Went the other day (Sept 2021) and the food was not nearly as good as usual. Not as fresh and the Captains sauce was a thick paste of oil, massive amounts of paprika and salt. Like eating sand. Had a good time, but something has gone wrong in the kitchen.

Food was okay not the greatest, unpleasant service, very slow for the food to come, very slow for the waitress to take order, follow up, except for one. The Indian girl was astonishing, she was doing extra work than anyone else! Just for her 1 more Star for this review, otherwise this place is just a waste.

Had the loveliest time eating here at the Ajax location! They changed a lot of stuff after the lockdown but in the best way possible! It was nice to see they moved on to use more environment friendly stuff as well. We were taken care of the staff very nicely too (kudos to Elaine, she did an amazing job!)

On my first attempt to eat at this location, I drove to the location but the Kitchen was already closed. I had no issue with that. My 2nd attempt was not as pleasant. This time I got dressed and just before leaving out, I called, confirmed the kitchen was still open and that there was a table for two. I also told the person on the other end of the that I will be there within five mins. Three mins later I was standing at the entrance waiting to be seated. The conversation started with "Can I help you? " I shared that I would like a table for two. Sure enough, there were no tables available and the one that was being prepared was for someone who was apparently inside the restaurant (I did not see the persons). I proceeded to share that I called less than five mins ago and the response "Well someone beat you to it, we don't have a reservations system. " There was no apology, no concern they are missing out on this customer and I felt like I was a bother for the 60 second that I was there. It's not that WHAT was said but the HOW it was said. My thought is that they are clearly making enough money, so I will take my five friends who are visiting Ajax in a few week to another restaurant. We wanted to experience of Captain Boil, but I think I have had enough already.

Awful service and management. I called last Thursday to make a reservation. I was told they dont take reservations for the weekends. I said, great, because I want to make a reservation for Friday. They told me Friday was the weekend.since when? Anyway, no problem. We went the next day at 7pm. The first thing the hostess said was, "do you have a reservation? " Seriously? I didn't even comment because I was so annoyed. I didn't want to be rude. The hostess said it would be a 15 minute wait for inside as we didnt want to sit outside. She took our phone number and said we would receive a text when the table is ready. We waited half an hour and no text. We settled for a table outside as we were hungry. We asked that when a table frees up inside, if we could be moved. She said she would check. 10 minutes went by, no server, no menus. Then a family went in. We saw a table being cleared off and were relieved as it was quite chilly outside. Unfortunately for us, they sat that family that just arrived. We got up and left. We went to the restaurant next door and were seated and treated promptly. Within 5 minutes, we sent an email to Captains boil, privately giving our feedback. One week later, we still havent gotten a response. Not to mention, we got our text that our table was ready, at 11: 16pm! This was the worst experience. Extremely disappointing and disgusted to be treated that way.

The spice levels were great and the food was very delicious! The customer service was also great, the people were very nice!

Food tastes great and staff are amazing, only rating it 3 stars though because quantity for the amount you pay isn't worth it. You'd be better off finding some Instagram food page that sells full seafood boil platters with a variety of everything for the same price of a lobster or crab meal at captains boil

Paid over $40 for my order yesterday that was incorrect, and on top of that I was given potatoes that were rock hard and were inedible and the size of the shrimp are scrawny.won’t be ordering again and when I went back to fix the situation I was told the manager wasn’t there by 2 girls even though I saw him when I first came to collect my order, NEVER wasting my money again

Only visit this location if you are looking for poor service and poor food quality. Spoke with a manager Carlos who did not care.

We've visited another location before and it was amazing so the experience at this location was noticeably bad. The dining room was a little cold. I think they had the ac on, we were sitting right under it and had cool air blowing on us, this caused food to get cold really quick, also didn't even want to take our sweater and jacket off to eat. Our server took our order and never came back, when another server brought out our food we had to ask for the drinks we had ordered. I had the crawfish, with the captains boil, and it was so dry it was almost inedible. The meat had no flavor on it, none of the flavoring got into the crawfish, and the seasoning was basically a paste at the bottom of the bag, couldn't even really dip the meat into it. It was actually way better when I added about a cup of hot water and reheated leftovers the next day. The shrimp we got seemed tough and dry as well even with the garlic butter flavor. We had to ask for something to put shells into, I noticed another table had a bag there ready for shells before food came out. Also when we were finishing I noticed our server standing behind the bar on her cellphone (I guess thats why she didn't have the time to take care of the restaurant guests she was serving.

They should have a way to let you know when you're food is ready because the tracking website is not accurate

Had one order 1lb shrimp/ clam with captain’s boil sauce mid spicy, one 1lb clam/ mussel, garlic mid spicy, both are taste great!

I give a 4 star, because I got one tiny corn tip. Also If the shrimps are deveined, it would be perfect.

Shrimps as always was amazing. The wait wasn't long for dine in, only 10 people are allowed. However it depends on the day of the week you go. Service was good, but the prices of the food has increased.

The portions are small compared to the Etobicoke location. Barely any fries here. But it’s always hot and fresh and the customer service is good. That’s what I can say

I should have probably known better.sigh.ordered various items from their menu and I was disappointed for the most part. The most disappointing was the prawns, although they were well cooked, they were tasteless. Not an ounce of salt or seasoning. I am going to blame it on the fact that I'm Jamaican and I'm use to having my meals well seasoned. I guess I can say the amount of food i received was worth the $200 I spent but that's it.

Just ordered the feast for 2,1 extra bag of shrimps and fish and chips. I spent $130 on this order and I was just very very disappointed. The shrimps are headless and super small, nothing compared to the ones before. Also they were chewey and way over cooked. The only reason why I give this 2 stars is the fact that the fish was actually good. However the sizes are very small. I dont know what happened to this chain or maybe it's just this location but I will never order again.

Just ordered on ubereats. I’ve ordered a few times before however I ordered it about 20 mins after their opening time so I expected the food to be fresh. Got my food to my door at about 3: 50 & it was COLD as if it was being cooked from frozen. My crab legs were cold but the sauce was warm. Also the sausages were super hard. I don’t know if these were leftovers from the day before but it sure tasted like it.

Ordered Uber eats from this location twice. The second time I ordered fire for the spicy level, I got plain, and very little sauce, the whole thing is tasteless. Had to dig to the bottom to find a little bit sauce.

Yummy food. Portions are by the pound so you kinda know how much you are getting.

They even give you flimsy disposable gloves if you want to avoid messy fingers.

Pricing is on the high side though.

Went there for a bday. No cake but instead celebrant got a gift card for next visit.

Thanks to covid everything comes in bags and everything else is disposable.

Good location and taste food. My table server wasn't very good, even when calling her, she just keep walking. But all other servers were very nice and came right away. Really love the food.

Zohal was our server and did a great job for my son and I. My son had the snow crab, corn and rice. I had the shrimp, rice and upgraded to sausage. Water was our beverage of choice as water seems best with seafood. You have a 1.5 hour window which seems a bit rushed as you have to take time breaking the shell. An awesome experience and we will definitely return

Typically the food is delicious. The last two times ordered through Uber eats and the food wasn't up to par at all. Everything was overcooked, dry, and not enough sauce. Won't be ordering again.

I have been to this location twice now. The food of course is amazing but a little pricy. My go to is the bag of shrimp with captain boils sauce. The service I received was amazing too both times so I have nothing to complain about!

I honestly enjoyed their dishes and customer service, excellent area close to my apartment. The workers are always very welcoming. Would recommend to others.

We ordered the sailors the choice of 2 lb for me and my friend. It was the first and will be the last Time! The food is good but oily and the rice seemed to be frozen. We got fish and ships also the taste is not good at all and very oily not recommend it at all.

Oh. This is the best seafood. Oh.and the rice is also Awesome Sauce. Your pocketbook will be stressed. They have Red Stripe and the servers are friendly.

I decided to go out for dinner at the Ajax location, we called to make the reservation for 7: 30pm and was told it was booked and that the 6: 30pm slot was open. I decided to book that time and the person who took the reservation said it was good to go. I arrived right on time and was told my reservation was not on file, and that if I wanted to wait they could "possibly get me in within an hour". There was no other options and the staff did not appear to care at all about the mistake on THEIR part. So disappointing. Service was terrible. Will not try again.

Raw chicken came out. I bit into the chicken and it was uncooked. They were kind enough to take it off the bill, but there service was not good whatsoever as they kept ignoring tables.

Food was so good! And honestly I didn’t even like seafood before but Captains Boil definitely changed my mind. Thank god there’s one in Ajax and thank god for Breanne for serving us!

Abigail was very pleasant servant very helpful with a smile on her face even thou we were very picky and call her alot she gave us choices and opinion. The sweet potatoes was cold and burnt but she was quick to replace with a smile on her face.

My wife and I love this resturant! We love that it has come much closer to home. The food was amazing, excellent and our server Bree was courteous and had great suggestions.

Clean and pleasant atmosphere with friendly staff. My fourth time at this location and still a pleasure. Family or a date, this is an awesome place. Make sure you like Seafood though!

We went to captains boil in Ajax. This is by far alot bigger than the Scarborough location. I would definitely suggest trying their fried rice and their Cajun fries. I've never left captains boil without trying their buttery fried rice. Our server Abigail, was also very friendly and attentive to us. Would definitely recommend their Ajax location over their Scarborough location. Also if you wanted to grab desserts, symposium cafe is literally right next to captains boil.

Captain's is one of my favorite seafood restaurants! Great food, great service from our server Breanne! So happy they opened a chain in the east end.:)

I had a great a experience at the captain boil in Ajax, and our server Elaine did a great job at taking care of us, and always coming to check if everything was good!

It was my first time today and I had JANICE as a waitress. She was very informative when it came to what choices to make and provided us with great recommendations. Janice made my first time a wonderful dining experience. Thank you!

Food was tasty and flavourful! We can’t get enough of the captains boil fried rice! Abigail provided great service and we will be back for some crawfish!

Food was tasty, but the downtown location I've been to was much better.restaurant was freezing cold. Received a free gift card for my son's birthday which was a very nice surprise. Couldn't give five stars because the service lacking. The server was very nice but just wasn't on top of things unfortunately. I don't think I would return to this location.

Would not recommend captain boil and will not be going back. Very slow service and waitress with lack of empathy towards the long wait times. We were seated immediately only to wait 25 minutes to get out order taken. 25 minutes to get just a basket of fries which we demolished cause we were starving and a total of 30 minutes we got our food. Even waited 15 minutes at the end for the bill. I was embarrased I recommended this place with this my family. 30 minutes after they decided to tell us they had no sausages left. The waitress never once apologize for the wait time which would've deviated the frustraion a little. I even tried to message the manager due to the review replies where they "and never got a response back after weeks. They are NOT eco-friendly whatsoever. Disposable cups, plates, forks, everything. Very disappointing, save your time and money.

Really enjoyed our dinner tonight. First time here and must say we will be a returning. Funny place to eat. Great service and most of all great stuff.
Went back wow what a change from first time here. I was looking forward to other great date night out, but the food was totally different on taste and I had more shell then food. Wish I had our first server. No service to be had. I will be rethink our seafood date nights.
