Really good experience! Cat robot to bring you drinks. They seve a lot of the food in plastic bags but they state they are biodegradable so that is a bit better for the environment!
The place never disappoints you. Sometimes it’s busy yet their is always a place as service is fast and they are very accommodating. Foods are made fresh. Brought my mom her and she loved it!
The service was excellent.top notch! The food was good but, as everything arrives in the same boil bag, it all tastes the same.only the texture is different. I'm ok with the bag idea but separate bags for at lest some items would allow for a better flavour differentiation. I'll likely go back but will order a bit less. The little server robot they have is pretty cool!
Ordered 1 Ibs of shrimps in Captain Boil sauce. The sauce this time it’s very grainy and I can taste the sand. Not sure if it’s due to improper wash or something else.
Worst experience yesterday. I called in yesterday to place my order for pick up. But after 3 minutes later, I requested if I can change it to just dine in. Then the same lady I talked to earlier rudely said NO! She did not say any reason and strongly left the concentration at that. So I let it go and assumed that they are not accepting dine in. They committed that the order will be prepared 15-20 minutes for pick up. When I drove to the location after 25 minutes (to give them 5 extra minutes) I was shocked because the store was open for dine in but the lady did not even give me the option of lining up as a waitlist. Worse, I had to wait for another 45 minutes for my order (on top of the 25 minutes prep time). If I had to wait that long, you guys should have allowed us to take our names for waitlist since I needed to wait anyway.
The server said “sorry for the wait” but the tone was not really apologetic. Worst service! And the serving that we received for the king crab was so small compared to how much we were getting before.
Update: the client management and operations manager considered our situation and have dealt with us professionally. I can’t believe such team still exists. Amazing support! Worth the edit and the additional stars!
Fun restaurant concept! Had the snow crab and it was delicious. Given a bib, gloves and tools to help get all the meat out. Service was also good, enjoyed restaurant atmosphere.
Found the market prices for the seafood to be a bit high, but the amount of food received was enough to be quite filling.
Me and my friends went there, we were 13 people. 3 of us didn’t do full 14 days after their 2nd vaccine. So, my 3 friends left and 10 of us was gonna go back but they didn’t accept us, they said we were with our 3 friends they can’t accept us cause we’re all together. But we weren’t on the same address and cars, we are all fully vaccinated we also came from Montréal we drove all the way there just to eat. It’s so disappointing, they just didn’t wanna accept too many people and the staff was mean.
Not a great first impression.the photocopied menus were blurry and difficult to understand.
We requested a drink menu and found out several minutes later that our selections were unavailable because the drink menu was "very old". When we asked for options we were only given one draft beer choice.
I was addicted to the place for the longest time, though I do tend to order just the mussels and the seafood fried rice and occasionally the shrimp so that's all I'm basing my review on. I choose the mild Captain's Sauce every time.
I would recommend not order delivery or takeout except for the fried rice since the taste of the seafood goes from 5 stars to 3.5 stars when you're not eating it straight out of the restaurant's kitchen.
I tried order delivery twice and gave up afterwards, it's just not the same.
We had a small incident after placing an Uber order with them, and we contacted the store right after. The manager answered the phone, he was very understanding and apologetic, and he rectified the issue right away. Good service is always appreciated! Highly recommend!
Food are not great, too oily and salty. Not environmental friendly, they used so much plastic and styrofoam. I had to eat in a plastic bag and a styfoam bowl with plastic fork. They gave me a plastic straw for my water, although I didn't ask for one. I will never come back there. My waitress was nice and friendly though.
Food is great, you get good portions if you choose the right things. Can't go wrong with the fries and seafood rice. Catch of the day is a little expensive, but there's standard options that are much more reasonable.
Best place to be if you are craving some seafood and don't mind eating with your hands! My husband and I love the seafood fried rice! Will definitely go again!
Boiled seafood in a butter-based sauce in a bag. It's okay. Spicy is really spicy. It's a lot of food. 1 serving could easily go for 2 people. They should serve more gloves and bibs since there is a lot left over
I waited over 40 minutes for my order then when I got my order you guys put alot of potatoes in my bag and 4 shrimps and I ordered 1 pound of mix and match. I am soo disappointed I would never go back to the Hunt Club branch. I am a regular customer for the one at Elign Street and I never had this issue ever. I get my order timely and the food is evenly shared. I am soo disappointed in Hunt Club because I love this restaurant
The spice level could've been a bit higher. Ive had captain boil in Toronto and asked for extra potato and it always comes out so good but here they cut the potato in little pieces which i absolutely hate I'm sorry but it made the sauce and everything in the bag potatoey and starchy. So that was hella annoying because i couldn't eat it all.its a lot better if you just out the potato cut in half or full. Also i asked for it in an hour but i read the time on the ticket and it said in 30 mins so it was cold. Besides all this it could've been really really good.
This is not a restaurant for the fastidious eater! But, it's a unique experience: your meat, side dish and sauce are served all together in a plastic bag. You lift everything out and eat it with your fingers. (Vinyl gloves and plastic bibs are provided.)
I got a snow crab (as is, bulging eyes, guts and all, you take your own sea food apart here) with a generous serving of lotus root; my wife a dozen shrimp (see photo) with okra. At least everything was perfectly cooked. Contrary to some reports, our service was prompt and warm.
There were no small spoons/spatulas available to dig out the crab meat; I had to make do with a fork tine. The shrimp had to be disassembled with fingers. The Muzak was in-your-face vocals selected from Spotify; a compromise between west-coast Japanese and east-coast shanties?
I doubt we'll be back, but it was a memorable experience.
Very nice. I ordered a Feast for two and lotus roots as side. This branch does a lot better job than the Elgin branch, we enjoyed our dinner very much. The fried rice was just right, not too buttery.
Amazing quality and flavour, the shrimp was outstanding.
The experience was awesome, I'm 100% coming here the moment the lockdown is over.
Edit: came here before christmas lockdown. They had a couple of tables with more than 4 people.other than not following that one rule, still great experience and food. I think the owner or manager was there, but was just look at tables.
We ordered 2 seafood fried rice and the the container was not filled in full compared from our past orders. Even the sauce on the 3 orders of shrimps and 1 order of mussel that we requested lack enough sauce. I guess this is the new norm at Captain's boil hunt club.
The whole experience was just off putting, walked in was basically pushed out the door by an unfriendly staff member to take our temperature. I understand procedure, but there’s a polite way of doing it. Once seated, service was good but we kept hearing barking from the table beside us. This table had their dog sitting in the restaurant the whole time, trying to hide it. I would have to say I definitely won’t come back, everything was just off.
My husband and I ordered a large selection of menue items consisting of seafood rice, 3 pounds of crab and broccoli with mild house souse. We ended up getting spicy hot which ruined the taste of the seafood. The food was ready super fast less then 10 minutes which was unusual. “The price for the speed “ was our sickness due to food poisoning. The food was not properly or freshly prepared. Very disappointing! We were sick for 5 days! Will never eat at this restaurant again. Location: Ottawa, Hunt Club Road.
We got the craw fish and the shrimp in a bag with corn and potatoes. It was good but the crawfish are tiny and have barely any meat. And you get half a piece of corn and 4 little pieces of potatoes. Looks like one potato cut in 4. For the price I expected at least a full corn on the cob and a decent amount of potatoes.
Food taste good. Love the seasoning. They raised the price I think last year. Bit pricey. But the flavour is good. Love the captains boil sauce. Recommend: shrimp, mussel (they are pretty big), and snow or King crab legs.
I rated this place 4 stars on my first visit. Now that I just visited again, I give it 5 stars as I tried more options in the menu and had an even better experience with the amazing staff. Keep it up
This was a really interesting place to eat. Our server was nice and attentive, the food was good, and was prepared and delivered quickly. The interesting part that I wasn't aware of until I arrived is that all the food is meant to be eaten by hand (no utensils). You do get a bib, gloves, and lots of napkins. It truly was a unique experience and it is worth a try if you are looking for a unique experience.
The food is great, fresh seafood. Its a bit pricey now that they charge market price. Also customer service is not really that great, a bit slow and got orders wrong. There was also a difference in advertised price and the final bill which we had to wait for them to deal with.
Placed online order in the morning for pickup at 6: 30 PM and they weren’t ready. Had to wait 15 minutes. Disappointed at a time when I’m trying to support local business when I think they need it the most.
Great seafood (get ready to use your hands) great atmosphere and great staff. Overall a solid place that isn't the norm. If you like seafood it's a must.
Delicious food and excellent service. The sauce is so good you want to bring the leftover home! They have specials everyday, and the drinks are priced well, messy eating but so good dont be scared to dig in and enjoy every bite!
