The food never disappoints you at CB. This branch is no exception. The service can improve (one order was missing) and the venue is not the best. Other than that, food was superb, as usual.
Decided to pass by this location to order take out; I got 2 pounds of shrimp, 1 pound of Mussel, and cajun fries. I am absolutely disappointed that 90% of the shrimp were not fresh, and mushy. As I am writing this review, my stomache is turning.
I keep falling for it because others like it but…. This place (particular location) has given me the runs a few times. (Clearly I’m the foolish one for thinking it was only me) the food I believe wasn’t fresh at all. The (customer favourite) captain sauce was bland and horrible. When asked for more sauce they said it would be $2 extra for sauce that should’ve been made properly from the start. To get to the washroom was a code violation (I’m sure there are several code violations in their kitchen as well). The place was cold like they were trying to hide the scent of bad seafood in their kitchen…. Like eating in the Arctic… but yeah never again. This location is horrible.
The Captain's Boil was great! The food was really good and it was a really fun, unique experience. The service was especially good; the host was very attentive and accommodating. It was an awesome date night!
I have been to The Captain’s Boil before. And I ordered fish and chips. It was so good, delicious, fresh and very filling! They have good customer service. The staff are all happy and very kind!
The restaurant is located at Midtown. The ambiance and interiors are very appealing to have an awesome seafood experience. The menu designed as the seafood catch for your meal is really very interesting. The staff is extremely friendly and approachable I appreciate their timely service and knowledge to explain their food. I really enjoyed the food however deducting na point nas it was too salty when we had asked for a fiery and spicy flavour of Cajun seasoning. The seasoning was not mixed up well with the shrimps and mussels we ordered. The potatoes as sides are massive to eat, I would recommend not getting potatoes as sides instead try corn or rice. Worth trying out.
My wife orders here fairly often, this location gives a very fair portion and the staff is always very friendly. My wife likes quite a few dishes from their menu.
Food wise, it is a great place for seafood. Menu and pricing is confusing. Slightly overpriced. Server could be little more informative. Place is cozy. Not enough space from one table to another! Not a bad place overall!
For some reason this location charges a lot more then other location, do your research it’s worth driving a little further you can save at least $100 And don’t even try to use Uber for this location prices and jacked up even more
How do we start? The seafood fried rice was cold in spots and blander than bland. The restaurant only sells shrimp you must take apart yourself which i guess is the gimmick. It is currently November and they are playing the worst Christmas music i can imagine (with decorations), at a low enough volume that the crying child could cut right through. The sangria tasted watered down. Every item we tried had the same bland taste, like it had been reheated. The decor seemed cheap at best as if it had been mass produced. We got the sense that the staff didn't really want to be there. My friend overheard the staff flirting with a customer to the point where she just left. I feel physically ill and will probably vomit imminently. Each bite felt forced, and filled me with depression. The menu is designed to get you to buy a massive platter of various foods. The drink selection was abysmal. After leaving i immediately looked for something to cleanse my palette at the nearest corner store. Overall i would recommend the Captain's Boil as a breakup location, just dont order the food for yourself.
I don’t normally do this but I believe I need to let everyone know about my experience. This location closes at 12 A. M on Fridays. We were in the area and felt hungry and decided to stop by. Before going to the restaurant I called to find out what time is the dine in cut off time, I was told 11 pm. We arrived at the restaurant at 10: 40 pm and we were greeted by Tony (Asian) who’s first words to me were “did you book a reservation” I said no, but I called before coming here and they told me the dining cut off time was 11pm, he had a certain demeanour as if we did not belong there. He then pointed to a table basically letting me know I could sit there. He then walked to the counter and I could hear him mumbling to the other server about us. I could tell that he was upset that I showed up at the restaurant to dine in at 10: 40 pm. The other server came over and took the order, he was polite, kind and continuously checked on us. TONY checked on every other client in the restaurant except us. He asked everyone else if they were fine and if they needed anything and he totally ignored the members at our table. Captains boil is our regular Friday night spot but this was our first time trying this location and the experience was horrible! Only because Tony was rude and felt the need to let paying customers feel like we had no business in the restaurant.
Thank you to the chef for a delicious meal and the other server which was really nice to us. You guys deserve everything. As for TONY! Please work on your customer service skills. You need more training.
I don’t usually complain but it is my birthday today and I’m feeling entitled. My son ordered food from the captain boil and our order again, was wrong. They send us always the wrong order but today……. Yeah I won’t let it go. My son order from this restaurant but only one order came and like Mention before it’s my b-day and we were looking forward to our dinner and it was so messed up, only one order came and now we order from another restauran because of the careless of the employees of the restaurant. So thanks for ruining my dinner.
Spicy, spicy, spicy I gave them 4 in general but 3 for food The food was tasty and delicious but super spicy it wasn't my first time in captain boil So I understand what mild should be I ordered mild But even the fries were super spicy? I couldn't enjoy my food as much as I want I almost cried because of it. Also I choose garlic sauce for my crab king leg And told them not too much garlic But the only thing you could see in the bowl it was garlic If you're not a fan of too much spicy This branch is not a good option for you Sorry captain boil?
It tasted disgusting and was the wrong order. I have never tasted food, and I am not sorry for being frank, as if someone boiled frozen seafood and cut a few pieces of garlic to flavour. A total rip-off from what was promised. I guarantee you I will tell every friend I have Never to order from here. Repulsive food and cooking.
Do not pay money for this. You do not want this seafood!
I was insulted by the quality and the format. Our server was lovely. So many better options for seafood in the city.
- served in bags floating in sauces? - sloppiest & laziest format reaching your hand into a saucy bag - what is the captains boil sauce? Everything tasted the same - gross - crab was ok but the portion was so small… I think we got 2- 3 crab legs? - lobster was meh
You really are missing out if you love sea food and you haven’t tried this place. One tip though: leave your table manners and come to this restaurant to experience this restaurant and it’s food in the most organic way possible
We enjoyed our dinner last night. It's been awhile, I can't remember when was the last time we had a captain's boil. We went to this location instead the other one that is close to our place. And it didn't disappoint us. Quality of food is the best. Place is clean and the service is good. Keep it up guys!
We're from Vancouver and we love the Captain's Boil in the city so when we came to Toronto, we thought we'd have dinner at a location here. This restaurant did not disappoint. Delicious food and friendly service. 100% would recommend.
Our go-to lobster place? Very delicious and service is top notch. Always love how the lobsters are prepared. I also love the captain’s boil shrimps and the scallops Shout out to Marco, thank you for always taking good care of us every time we visit.
I don’t recommended this location, try mississauga one are the best, generous and best service, the seasoning is different from other location and charrge u extra for seasoning. Slow service
They facility was clean and the staff was personable. However, I ordered from here 3 times and I was very disappointed with the order. I ordered the captian sauce with the shrimp and the sauce tasted horrible. The manager gave me an opportunity to get 2 replacement order, but each time I went back to try the captian red sauce with the shrimp, it was disappointing.
I give up and will not be ordering from this location again.
I ordered fried rice for take out, the portion was generous enough for two people. The food quality was ok. Not the best fried rice but very decent. Looking forward to try out other items on their menu
This place was good. The staff was friendly, seafood was fresh, and super fun to eat. I’ve been to a few captain boils before and this store is unique in the sense that the ac was blasted so high my boyfriend and I were shivering in the restaurant waiting for our food (and normally he doesn’t get cold at all). Also our food was wayyyy too salty, from the fried rice to the sauces. Ive never been to a captains boils and found it super salty before, it was just this store in particular. Our throats are still recovering from the saltiness lol! But still really tasty nonetheless! (I love the Cajun fries!)
Showed up @ 10: 05 and they said their kitchen is closed. Closing time is 11pm. The walk is 15mins from the subway. Who would turn away paying customers? When I told waitress she said she doesn’t know what time it is
First time eating at this location and I must say 10/10! Food was very tasty and exceptional customer service! We will definitely come back again KUDOS
Heard good things about this franchise, visited the Young St location one late night, God awful. Had the spicey shrimp, it was bland and gross. The sweet potato fries were soggy. Only good thing was the corn and the pop to wash the awful taste away. Gonna try another location to give the franchise another chance.
Quality gets worse each time I order. Spent almost $200 for food that was small in quantity as well as terrible quality. Will not be ordering from this location again. And staff is inconsiderate, I asked for sauce on the side and not on king crab, because it was my mothers birthday and she doesn't like the sauce. And they said they couldn't do that. That doesn't even make sense, cause you have to pour sauce on crab. I just asked you not to pour it, simple request.
Great place! Great people! Excellent food everytime! Been to the Captain's Boil many times throughout Ontario and it never disappoints! Recommend to all!
DEEEELICIOUS! I highly recommend this place to anyone in the city. Rich with flavour! We went with the captain's boil sauce which combines all 3 sauces and that was an excellent choice! My friend ordered mussels (I ate most of it) and I ordered the rice and seafood plate. Yum Yum Yum! My only qualm is that one of the mussels had sand or something in it but given that I ate over 8 of them without issue, I will let that one slide. Highly recommended! Love the vibe and that people ate with hands etc. This is easily a tourist attraction, IMO. Very different vibe and very delish.
Good service. The pick up was very quick and staff was friendly. The food was average. I'd ordered the Lobster Tail in Captain Boil's sauce which tasted good. The Shrimp/Cajun fries were disgusting. Both these things looked stale to me and I had stomach cramps after eating the food. The price was too high for the food and the freshness was also questionable. Won't be coming back to this restaurant and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
The food here is always good and their prices are fair for seafood in Toronto, but what really is impressive here is the customer service. Yesterday, November 1st, the guy who was attending the front desk around noon (I couldn't see his name), was absolutely attentive and gave a wonderful service, explaining their offers without being pushy, giving time and space and being super respectful. Really good job. Of course the food was also good and their discounts for November are great.
It is one of the best seafood restaurants in Toronto. They have a variety of options, crab legs, shrimps, mussels, and sides such as corn, rice, potatoes
