The Captain's Boil

Was so excited to dine at another Captains boil, but as soon as we entered the whole place smelled bad not sure why, the food was good but sauce was very less quantity compared to the other Captain boils.

The first time I came to this location, I would have given it a 2-2.5 although they may have been short staffed. This time around, I’d give it a solid 4.

In comparison to GTA locations, specifically Mississauga & Vaughan, it falls short. However, today they were on point. We got seated and served quickly with our food coming out within 5 minutes. The flavour and quality of the seafood were good (last time it tasted overcooked). One thing I noticed about this location is the sauce is thinner than in the GTA. It doesn’t have the thicker garlic and seasoning leftover in the bags — just the thin liquid. Not an issue, but I just love the additional texture. I find the portions slightly smaller too. We added sausage but didn’t get as much as we would in the GTA.

The service was really good this time around (unlike my first visit which was extremely slow). The wait staff was accurate and quick.

The inside decor is getting old and could be spruced up a bit but all in all, happy we came today.

Very overpriced for so little food lobster wasn't cooked potatoes was really hard.won't be back here again.

DO NOT GO HERE, DONT EAT HERE, DISGUSTING. 50$ FOR LIME GREEN RUBBER MUSCLES, THE SHRIMP HAD CASES ON IT? , FORGOT TO PUT POTATOES IN OUR BAGS THEN BROUGH OVER AN UNSEASONED BAG WITH A HOLE AND PLACED A POTATO THAT HAD FALLEN OUT BACK IN THE BAG WITH HER FINGE

I love your guys food but the last two times the rice wasn’t good at it was you guys changed it please bring it back

Food was very fresh. Definitely recommend the bag of shrimp and Cajun seafood fried rice. Your in heaven if you love spicy seafood

This was a surprise birthday lunch for my sister today, and arrival time was 12: 00 pm when the restaurant opened. There were no other customer’s in the restaurant during this time.
The server was not friendly, when bringing the food, he slapped the food down on the table mumbled something, and walked away. He had to be asked for plates and cutlery. His customer service was very disappointing and rude. Our bill was $170.00 before tip, that’s a nice start of the day, for just 2 customer’s dining at this or any restaurant.
I called to speak to the manager, and told him how unhappy we were. I told him I could tell he didn’t care about how disappointed we are…
He said “ if I didn’t care, I wouldn’t spend 20 minutes listening to you complain”. I was on my phone, and had him on speaker. I looked at my phone and said, we’ve been only speaking for 7 min and 5 seconds. I told him that I was going to post a review, and he said “if you feel you need to, to do it. ”
The manager was just as bad as the waiter, because he couldn’t care less about my call. The owner I hope reads these reviews, and retrains his staff. I just saw that the owner does read these. And, asks to email customer service…Why would we want to email customer service, what will they do, simply apologize?
We will never spend another cent at this establishment, and will not recommend anyone trying this restaurant, if how you’re treated is important to you.
The location is on Oxford Street in London Ontario.
I also posted on Trip Advisor. The manager said if I needed to post, to just do it! He didn’t care, so why should I.

Worst captains boil I have ever been to. The server was very rude, did not give us proper answers. When we asked she said, sauce was extra for $1 but charged me $1.50 and when I asked why was I charged more so she said oh I didnt finish my sentence.
In the kitchen there was a huge fight going on which we could hear in the whole restaurant.
Never coming back here again.

I love The Captain's Boil, but this location really skimped on the sauce in the bag. Normally my broccoli is full of sauce and really soaks it up, which is why I add it, at $7. But not at this location, it was like plain steamed broccoli with a little sauce just lightly coating the outside. With no extra sauce in the bag to dredge the shrimp or broccoli in. Don't skimp on the sauce!

Absolutely horrible experience there waitress who barely speaks English didn't know who ordered what seemed very confused and forgot about my drink not to mention I counted 5 staff members sitting on their phones food was terrible and bathroom was disgusting this is only the second time I've been there first time I went there waited over an hour never got my food when I asked the waitress for a fork for my mother she bit my head off over a fork horrible lazy staff and horrible food and service

This place is super laid back and a very unique experience. They bring you plastic gloves to eat your seafood with and your seafood dish comes in a plastic bag! Captains boil flavour was delish…. Not too spicy but just enough to give some flavouring.

First time eating here. Food was served fairly quickly. Ordered the pirate feast which came with Lobster as the main dish, along with Mussels, Clams & Shrimp, corn, sausages & okra. We added additional order of crawfish, potatoes and a Lobster Poutine. Our party was comprised of mainly east coasters who unanimously agreed most of the food was overboiled, resulting in tough meat that was extremely difficult to remove from the shell. Our side dish of okra was never served. Based on the market prices and quality of preparation, we will not be returning.

This Is a terrible restaurant, I was there just after they opened, I ordered Lobster Roll, which was this thick soup on a bun, disgusting. I was in a group of 10, everybody got there food at different times. Fast forward to today, I ordered the Lobster poutine, what I ordered and received was far different then what they advertise. The picture below shows a generous amount of fries, with Lobster pieces mixed into the poutine. What I got was some fries with cheese and a very small Lobster tail in the corner of the plate, about the size of a large Shrimp. I thought I'd give this place a 2nd chance, WILL NOT BE BACK. How does this place even stay open.

We went as a large group to Captain's Boil for a joint birthday dinner. The restaurant staff were very accommodating and friendly. The service was fast and the food was delicious. It's a pricier dinner out but this restaurant is about atmosphere, experience and fun. On that, they delivered!
They do offer non seafood items for those joining who don't enjoy it but the seafood smell is strong so just a heads up.

The staff needs more a little cheer up. Looks not approachable. We have to keep asking things one by one to bring it to the table.

We used to love Captain’s boil but not this location. I had a reservation on Father’s day thinking it will save us tons of time to do something after dinner. Reservation was for 3 pm. We got there and was seated after 5 mins. We waited for at least the menu for 30 and no one. Literally no one offered us anything. I had to go to the cashier and ask for it. Given a menu and again another 45 mins before someone takes our order. Another party that came same time with us was already eating while we are starving there waiting to be noticed. Terrible service. We feel rushed when we are placing our orders and the guy was not even happy serving us. Will not go back to this location. Use other seafood place even if it will cost you more. Not friendly, unorganized, dirty place, terrible customer service.

It was a unique experience. We ordered snow crab, corn and potato and they deliver it all in a decomposable bag.you put plastic gloves on and eat it all with your hands.including the potato haha. I enjoyed the meal and experience but we were hungry after we left.we started with the bacon wrapped scallops which were just ok.would try the calamari next time. The garlic butter option was delicious.

My husband made reservations for tonight for me my mom my daughters and him, we waited at the door for 5 min giving us lots of time to view the market prices know this meal would cost approx 400$ one table in the place had people that already had their food but the waiter was at that table, lady stood at the bar on the phone hung up and came to the door and said sit where you want we sat at the only table that wasn’t a booth that would fit 5. Sat down waited 5 minutes I stood up and grabbed menus off the booths tables. We have never ate here had questions about the menu, nobody came over, after another ten minutes we all figured if we were going to spend over $400 we would like to do it at a restaurant that at least acknowledge us. We got up and left and still nobody said a word to us! What the heck no wonder the place was empty! Went and had an amazing dinner at red lobster! Had excellent service spent $350 and a $50 tip don’t bother here goto red lobster!

No seasoning, asked for volcano spicy level, there was absolutely NO spice. Server did not come back to check on us. We were the only customers in the restaurant at the time. Garbage. Boo, tomato tomato tomato.

It is totally disappointing, I went with a friend talking about the wonders of the food, attention and it was disappointing, the service was bad, the portion of food was small, it seemed that the waiter was in a hurry why we left the place, how sad I loved this place

It's a bit pricey but totally worth it. Anyone giving a 1 star needs to reevaluate their life choices.

Would only rate a three or four out of ten and won’t be returning. Pretty disappointing. Menu was hard to navigate and food was expensive and mediocre at the same time, which is never a combo. Sauces were all good but that was probably the highlight out of everything I ordered and we got a fair amount of food. Went in knowing that everything would be served in a bag but didn’t realize how annoying this would actually be in practice. I would recommend spending your money elsewhere. Also, tried to call for a reservation but just got this guy’s voicemail which was weird.

The flavor is great my only issue is how small the portions are. No one can control market prices per pound but it's not worth the price for what you get. If you want the best option here get the mix and match with shrimp.

Avoid, and will not return. Big fan of seafood, went Sunday afternoon. Been there multiple times before. When we got or order half of it was cold. Which was bizarre as it usually it extremely hot. Only one person serving so we didn’t really get anytime to talk to him. Left half of it untouched and when he asked if we wanted to take it to go I said it was awful and cold. His response was oh really. Dropped the bill and left.

Best seafood dinner I’ve had in a very long time. Don’t even get me started on how awesome the servers were, very fast, kind and helpful! Will definitely be coming back, the potatoes are to die for!

Past couple times was good, now recent time it was too salty or too blant and it was a shock, disappointed with the rice part.

If you want a great seafood experience this is the spot. Closest thing to the east coast and you definitely get you fill. The selection of spices and seasonings are great, the beer is cold and the seafood is fresh and delicious

We came for a late dinner, arrived at 8: 40pm on Victoria Day! We had serious apprehensions due to the reviews. The place was empty, we were the only table dining. The server was not very attentive, however, nearing the end he seemed to warm up to us. Reviews are pretty misleading in my opinion, the food‘s not bad at all there’s a lot of flavour in their sauces, the seafood tasted fresh, and it’s a clean restaurant. The potatoes tasted burnt and that’s my only complaint in the chef dept. I can see why people would have an issue with the server as he’s not very friendly at the jump; aside from that it’s not a bad place to dine for crawfish and mussels.

Ive been there multiple times and its amazing food and pretty good service woild recommend everyone that likes seafood to try it once! The crawfish are the best!

Fun atmosphere, delicious food, friendly staff who taught me to disembowel crawfish! And the bags are biodegradable?

They don't give you plates and it's a very casual experience. Great seafood options. I'd definitely go again with a larger group of friends

Cool concept.if you love seafood up to your ears, this place is where it's at! Generous portions and friendly atmosphere. Expect a mess and to have some fun.

Was NOT happy with my Shrimp Boil I ordered lastnight! They do NOT De-Vein there shrimp! Soo gross! Yes I understand if it’s cooked harmful bacteria is killed. But still gross! Never again! I’ll make my own!

This was my first time ever trying a seafood boil after hearing my friends rave about how delicious it is. So, perhaps my expectations were too high. There was so much sauce that I could hardly see the food itself and it was thick—like I could literally grind the granules between my teeth—and I had to add hot water to it just to thin it out enough to be somewhat palatable. The shrimp to potato and corn ratio was severely off. There were about two dozen shrimp but only 5 little slivers of potato and one piece of corn. The straw that broke the camel’s back is how salty the entire plate was. Not only was there too much sauce, it was so salty that it made the shrimp super salty. I visibly made a face as it touched my tongue. I couldn’t finish it all and after spending the amount of money I spent on this, I feel it was a waste. Uber Eats won’t refund me. They didn’t say why but I presume it’s bc taste is subjective.but when it comes to cuisine—especially one that costs $28 a plate—I expected much better. Needless to say, I’m disappointed and will not eat at this restaurant again.

I am not from London but this is my nieces first choice for restaurant to go to when we come to visit. Delicious food, many different options for everyone in your group. Prices are market value for some of the seafood, so depending on time of year could be expensive but well worth it in my opinion anytime. Fun to eat and be messy at the same time.
