I recently visited with my boyfriend and tried the Chicken Dapanji. Our server, a blonde girl, was exceptionally cooperative and pleasant. The dish was delicious, and the unique taste was a delightful experience. Looking forward to visiting again soon.
It can be said to be the ceiling for mutton kebabs in Toronto. I got angry the next day after eating it... Make a reservation in advance. Takeaway available.
It was our first time there and we loved it very much. Very nice service (we had a request on the soup, they did it wrong but quickly fixed the issue.)
They recommended the lamb polo (rice) and it was really good! Never had a rice dish with dry fruit and fresh pomegranate, and they definitely offered a refreshing taste to the lamb. I recommend finishing the dish first when it's warm or it'll become a bit greasy.
Overall we loved everything. The only little downside for me personally is that I wished there were more greens (vegetables) to balance out.
Great food. My wife and I love coming here for their lamb kebobs. Always amazing. The place is a bit tight and gets very busy during dinner time on weekends and usually has a very long waiting time. Haven't been here in the weekdays to see how busy it gets, but if you're coming on the weekend, try to get here around 5pm!
Although they have changed their menu since the pandemic and increased their prices, the quality of the food is still excellent, serving halal food. Definitely recommend making a reservation store going as they are usually packed.
Ordered Fried Dry Noodles (Dried Pepper Soman) for more than $29 which wasn’t dry at all! The first meat I had a bite was raw so we left the plate as is! Showed the raw meat to the waitress and she said she would give us a discount, so we got a $1.5 discount! This gotta be a joke.
My favourite Authentic Uyghur Restaurant. Food quality is amazing, customer service is great! Even though I live 50kms away but I still come here at least once a month. That's how much I love their food:)
Having tried Uighur cuisine at multiple restaurants in North America including NYC and Washington DC, Charcoal Kebab House is the best I’ve tried. We ordered Samsa, Polo, Dapanji, manti, and lamb and chicken kebabs. Everything was freshly made and delicious. The meat in every dish was tender and juicy. The meal I had here not only satisfied my hunger but elevated my mood, which is a rare feat. When I’m back in Canada for future visits, this will be a staple restaurant.
The food was okay (we had spicy noodles and vip noodles), but so salty. Some pieces of meat were unchewable. Given the quality of food, hygiene level and interior of the restaurant - really pricey! Service was fine despite all the negative comments here.
Food is amazing. The lamb kebab is perfectly cooked and seasoned. Priced is fair too. Lamb soup is also amazing. However, if you order takeout, you will get less soup than if you dine in. Service is ok. They did not ask me what drinks I want. When I asked for water, she just told me to grab the water jug from the fridge.
This is one of the most unique tasting kebobs. Its not like your regular irani/ afghan kebobs, however it is very very delicious. The lamb kebob was my favourite. Also, although this is a kebob house they had a noodle dish called laghman noodles that was the most delicious noodle dish I ever had. Great customer service and will definately come back!
I picked up a take out order on Saturday. The packaging was a pizza box. When I took it out of the car the box had leaked out all over my car seat and ruined my winter jacket.
This place closes at 9: 30 and not 10: 00. Definitely not a stove issue, at least based on what the waitresses told me. They simply said kitchen closes at 9: 30 and they stop accepting customers after that.reply: we went there nov 27th, 2021
The sword skewers were massive and reasonably priced, not as juicy as some of the other places we've been to. I think it's due to the size or maybe not enough fat layering between the pieces, but the flavour was great
The food is really good. I have not had such good chicken BBQ skewers in a long time and the price is very reasonable as well. There is always a wait but we got lucky. The service is slow, so if you're starving I won't recommend going there.
Lamb skewers are amazing, ordered VIP langman hand made noodles with beef and veggies for take out. While food was great, they didn't have chopsticks for take out? Interesting decor and quick service
Limited menu only means the highest quality and attention to detail here. Ambience is better than most. One never feels too close to other patrons while the lighting is kind in a way that everyone looks more attractive. A weekly or monthly off-menu special that the chef has been perfecting would likely make The Charcoal Kebab House have to take reservations to cope with the number of clientele. Scarborough is fortunate to have this memorable restaurant.
Very authentic and delicious roast lamb, mutton soup, big chicken, Xinjiang noodles, is definitely the best Uighur restaurant in GTA! 100%碳烤羊肉串,肥腰,大盘鸡,羊肉汤,拌面绝对正宗!
Horrible place, it is small and the customer service is just as horrible. Apparently at around 9: 00 pm, they ran out of white rice and when we decided to leave and go some where else, the owner comes from the kitchen to tell us, he's calling the police. We waited outside but no police arrived, so we left and went else where. I learned this morning that they have no sinks in the bathrooms, disgusting!
If you have neve tried Uyghur food you need to go here and try it! It's the tastiest food you will ever try. Their hand pulled noodles are worthy of 10 stars! Their lamb kebobs are to die for! I crave this place on a daily basis! All the workers are so nice as well!
Tasty~ my favorite dapanji restaurant. Dapanji (Chinese: 大盘鸡; pinyin: dàpánjī; literally: 'big plate chicken') or chong texse toxu qorumisi (Uyghur: چوڭ تەخسە توخۇ قورۇمىسى, чоң тәхсә тоху қорумиси; also spelled qong təhsə tohu ⱪorumisi) is a type of chicken stew. It is a popular dish that originated in Xinjiang, China. I also loved the pilaf. Pilaf (US spelling), or pilau (UK spelling) is a rice dish or, in some regions, a wheat dish, whose recipe usually involves cooking in stock, adding spices, and other ingredients such as meat, and employing some technique for achieving cooked grains that do not adhere.
Really authentic Xinjiang kabab. Remind me of the kabab I had back in China. Lamb soup and dapan chicken is also very tasty. Will definitely come back again.
Depanji - handpulled noodles and chicken was one of the best dishes, went really well with lamb skewers. Definitely a place to visit for unique cuisine - Uyghur.
No sink in the bathrooms. No dinner plates. Small space to sit and dirty tables. The service is extremely slow and most of the times they get the servings and orders wrong. Food is mad overpriced for the quantity and compared to other places. Kebabs are good but that’s about it. Would I come back? Probably never.
The food is terrible, the service is terrible, and items are over priced.
1 skewer is basically $4+. We ordered this chicken dish with potatoes and noodles with serving for two for about $29 + tax. It was so bad we couldn't finish it, there was basically no chicken just bones.
I would never go back to this place even if they offered me a free meal. There are plenty of better places, Don't waste your time and money here.
Easily one of the best Lamb Kebab in GTA. Already a repeat customer. Lost a star is because first time coming to this place was AMAZING, recommended friends to visit. 2nd time I came back the flavour was different. I was told the regular chef was off.
