Dealt with water dept this week. I had a leak in my house which required a plumber. I needed my curb stop shut off to stop water flow to my house. I called and the city rep was focused on the leak being my responsibility. He isn't wrong, in my house it is. But when we shut off the water main to the house (city responsibility), it still ran, which disabled the plumber from replacing the appropriate pipes in my house. Belleville gets a big fat 0 for community relations. Give that guy some training. The City worker who disabled my main was awesome. He acknowledged that the curb stop needed replacement and replaced old parts for me on the spot. He gets a 5 star. The individual who dealt with me on the phone was more concerned with addressing who's responsibility it was to fix and not acknowledging the fact that I can't do work here until they fix the curb stop to shut off water flowing in the house.

My basement was WET.

Can't do any work if the water doesn't disengage! Why is this guy representing that department. Clearly clueless.

I'm guessing that ALL of Belleville's snowplows must be broken as there is NO sign of ANY roads being plowed today. You guys should get Craigs Septic trucks, the garbage trucks and recycling trucks to put plows on them as they seemed to have no problem driving in this kind of weather. Nice to see my HARD EARNED taxes going to good use? LOL

I just got a ticket while shopping in your downtown. I agree that I was in a loading spot that I didnt notice until after I got the ticket, so fair game, my bad. However you claim to want people to shop local, block off downtown spaces then ticket people who park in what appears to be an appropriate place. From now on my shopping will be in the mall, Trenton or Kingston

In today's fast paced world, covid & people with blinders on doing the beare minimum in their jobs. I would like to recognize a City of Belleville employee by the name of Karen Cooney for going above and beyond to help me out with a taxation issue. You deserve a raise!
Thanks again Karen it was greatly appreciated!

Ticketed for parking on the street where the bylaw clearly states it is allowed as of the 15 of April And was told I was wrong receiving no assistance. The road signs and online information Clearly states November 2-April 14.

Good for you for holding your ground against the CUPE city workers request for more. Their commercial stating how much extra they've done during the pandemic including plowing the streets (which is their regular job) is absolutely pathetic. They're using the pandemic as an excuse. We've all had to make changes and we've all had to do things in a new way and do much more than we're used to in order to get by with much less. If they don't want the job they're free to quit and someone else who no longer has a job thanks to the pandemic will be happy to step in. These unions are just too pushy and asking for way more than what us average working,
non-unionized citizens get. As an average citizen (many of whom have lost wages, jobs, ect do the pandemic) to pay higher taxes to cover their greed.

If parks, rec centers, libraries and everything else is closed and there is less wear and tear on roads; do we get property taxes back? Or refunded to a degree?
