The Curl Ambassadors Curly Hair Salon

For someone with my kind of budget, I put a lot of thought into making my appointment as $150+ cut is not something I would have ever considered but my curls were in a state that I had never seen them and I desperately needed help.

I wrote everything down in my pre-appointment questionnaire about how my hair has changed and that I'm in need of answers on how to fix it. When I came in, my stylist was running behind with her previous client but I didn't mind waiting. The delay did however cause my appointment to feel a bit rushed. My stylist opened my questionnaire and clearly skimmed it because when she came back to me she had the wrong information.

I reiterated to her the changes that I've seen in my hair (which were shown in before and after picture I had provided) and what I was hoping for. The styling tips I was given were the same as the things I've learned on youtube for free and none of them touched on the actual problem I was facing, the loss of my curl pattern. She was trying to convince me that it's simply how my hair is when I kept telling her it wasn't. The cut was helpful as my hair needed to be evened out and I probably couldn't have done that myself. As far as styling, I said I wanted volume and definition but asked that if I could only have one of the two that we focus on definition.

At the end of it all, the stylist had talked more about herself than helped with or asked about my concerns, and I basically just paid for a haircut over 3x the price that I would have paid anywhere else, and left with minimal curl definition and frizz.

I wrote to them about this and they did respond offering me a free styling appointment, but considering that I could have styled my hair better than she had that day, that seemed like an unhelpful solution.

One of the best places I’ve been to get a curly hair cut. I know the first cut is pricey, but totally worth it. The girls will walk you through all things you need to know in order to have killer curls, and by the time you leave the salon, you’ll feel a lot more confident and comfortable with your natural roots.

This is my fourth visit. So helpful from the time of booking onwards. Great service, great advice on your hair, no accidents! Thank you Curl Ambassadors!

I had my first appointment at this salon with Quyana and it was fabulous. She is so friendly, knowledgeable and experienced. I learned so much about how to wash, style and care for my curly hair. They provide you with a sheet to take home which lists the products they used and the techniques you should continue to use- this is such a nice and important touch! Looking forward to my next appointment:)

Got an excellent cut from Olivia! Love my curly bangs (first time ever having them). This is my 3rd visit to this Toronto salon and I love the service and all of the tips I learn.

I got the Curly Doo service to try it out because it was my first visit here. Olivia gave me a very informative hands-on consultation and helped me figure out how to wash/style/care for my hair. I got a little info sheet to take home with all the recommended steps and some suggested products as well. I've never felt so empowered to have curly hair. Will definitely come back for a haircut next time.

I guess it's still a challenge to get good workers. Not delivering the quality for the price I was charged

I have been getting my hair cut at Curl Ambassadors since 2018 and every time I leave the salon I leave a happy girl! I now live in Montreal and specifically hold off on getting my hair cut until I visit family in Ontario, just so I can get it cut at the Curl Ambassadors.

I have 2b/2c hair and they know exactly how to trim it so I can go 6 months between cuts. They cut it dry, wash it and dry it and then do an additional touch up trim so that there are no random curls sticking out.

I’ve had multiple stylists over the years and each one has done a great job! They all seem to really love their jobs and create a warm and safe space for their clients. I highly recommend to anyone with curly hair!

They reached out to me, Riam was extremely nice, offered me complimentary cut and treatment which I went back for and then I went back one more time (paid service) and had great service there from both Angela and Orlena, will certainly be back! THANK YOU

I had dry cut twice at this Harbour location, both times they cut my hair too short and apologised and offered me a free service and discount, then I had my third appointment booked for this March 23, WITH A DIFFERENT STYLIST, so I don’t really know who I was getting and didn’t care. They reached out to me on IG after I responded to one of their polls last month and I had explained what happened, they never messaged back and today they sent me email to reschedule March appointment to August, in other words they’re saying “Don’t come back here”, what a miserable way to correct their mistakes. They are claiming that “my stylist” is no longer there, I was trying a new stylist, they could’ve set me up with any other. I don’t trust them with my hair anymore and would never go back anyways. One of the times I was there, staff were really ignorant to a client and after she left they were laughing about her and making comments.

Mimi does amazing work! I dontt even want to say too much because then she will be too busy to see me. Lol. She knows curly hair well: D

My stylist, Orlena, was fabulous! I got the best hair cut I've had in years. She cut my hair perfectly to maintain the curl and length and I love the layers. I'll definitely be going back for dry dustings and future hair cuts.

I have been going to Curl Ambassadors for many years. I normally see Angela who helped me regain my length in my hair & also helped give me a shape. Unfortunately with covid etc, I wasn't able to see Angela. I tried another stylist at another location thinking all stylists get the same training & provide the same standard. Admittedly, at my last cut I was looking for bangs, to change things up. I figured if I didn't like the bangs I could always clip them back until they grow out. I specified to the stylist I want to keep my length, i like my length. Also the picture I showed her had a girl with her hair down to her breastbone. When I left the salon my hair sat above my shoulders! After all the years working with Angela, this new stylist took my length.i cried & cried. My hair was so difficult to style afterwards & i did not return to get my haircut until 8 months later. I was afraid of losing my length again & afraid that too much would be cutoff. Hesitantly I went back. I read reviews from both the Harbord location & the Vaughn location. I read the good reviews & the bad reviews. I realized from the bad reviews that other clients had the same experience with the same stylist as me. Through the good reviews I decided to book my visit with Mia at the Harbord location, since my usual stylist Angela was not available for a long while. I specified again, i just want a trim, refresh my curls, keep my length, & not to cut my hair above my shoulders. I saw Mia last week for a trim. After she read my instructions she advised I should get a Dusting, which was the perfect suggestion. Mia assured me through each cut how much was coming off. She was meticulous & very nice. She understood exactly what I wanted. After my cut I couldn't wait to style it & see how it looked. My hair is bouncier, healthier & still has its length. I will definitely book with Mia again!

Make sure to always read the good AND bad reviews! Also don't let any stylist, at any salon tell you you need to chop off 3 inches of hair!

I have very fine 2C curls and have always struggled with hairstylists weighing down my hair with product, or not cutting my hair properly to facilitate good layers with my fine texture.

Mimi has cut my hair twice and both times it has left with me with the BEST SHAPE AND BOUNCE of my life.

Shes so sweet and welcoming and does a fantastic job.

Olivia was an absolute pleasure to work with. She's funny, personable, and incredibly good at what she does. I felt very safe in her hands and spent the entire appointment laughing. I walked out with one of the best cuts I've ever had. Great experience overall.

I really can't recommend this place enough. Olivia was amazing! Super friendly and knowledgeable; I feel like I learned so much about how to manage and maintain my hair in such a short amount of time. Will definitely be going back.

I was there to get “lessons” on why how to treat my hair and properly style and I was given the step by step throughout the whole process and in the end I was given a paper with everything the hairstylist told so I wouldn’t forget. Also I was advised which product should I use and should I stop using. I love it! They really know what they are doing! And they are excited about what they do so you feel super comfortable!

I'm so glad I finally found a salon that specializes in curly hair - no more being afraid to get a haircut because you don't know how it will look when you leave it curly! Mia had so much attention to detail - she was extremely thoughtful with every cut she made and explained everything she was doing.

The consultation was incredible because I actually learned how to treat and style my hair - at the end of it I couldn't believe how healthy my hair was and that those were MY curls! I've been getting so many compliments and am excited to start wearing my hair curly every day!

I have been getting my hair cut here for years! All the stylists are so knowledgeable and explain to you all the steps to replicate your look at home. I love my cut every time!

So i won a giveaway for a Curly Cut, and I was very satisfied with my results. My hair dresser was MiMi and she was fantastic! She was very knowledgeable about curly hair and my specific curl type as well. She has a lottt of experience and she answered all of my questions thoroughly and clearly. Mimi showed me exactly how i can wash my hair and style it for effective results and to maintain my hairs health. She was genuinely nice and helpful, I even booked my next appointment with her. She trimmed my split ends a curl at a time, she never rushed and made sure that every thing was even. The lady with purple hair seemed kind of unhappy lol just thought I would add

I don’t usually leave reviews, but Curl Ambassadors is the only place I’ll let touch my hair now. The stylists know exactly what they’re doing with curls, and are incredibly helpful and informative if you’re not sure how to manage your hair yourself.
Angela is the best hair stylist ever in the world. If I was famous I would have her fly in to work my hair for events. If I was rich I would have her fly around and work with all my curly-haired friends too. I love my cut the day I get it, and then the next day and the next long after I’ve washed away her magic touch. Best. Ever.

Mimi is absolutely amazing and made my hair super soft and just how I wanted it. She gave me great advice too on treatments for moisturizing my hair during the coming winter months. Great experience, definitely would recommend to anyone who has curly hair.

I have heard so much from these salons that I had to try it! I have wavy fine hair and not only the dry cut gives you the perfect shape, but they also teach you the routine you have to follow, amount of product and technique in general! I loved it!

I have been going to Curl ambassador for a over 2 years now. The stylist always makes sure to not cut too much of my hair and gives me a great hair cut. Finding a curly hair stylist is always really hard so I am grateful for Mimi, my hair has grown so long because of her. I will be getting my hair cut only from her for as long as I can.

Harbord location - Follows all Covid protocols, checking temperatures, cleaning hands, and chairs after clients used them. Although I was late because unforeseeable reasons they did not rush too much and gave me the full experience. Also gave tips on styling at home and answered all of my questions.

Amazing! I've been going to the Curls Ambassadors for 6 years now, and I always have a great experience. The salon is clean and welcoming, the staff is professional and talented and my hair cuts are always a huge success. Love it!

Have been going here for years and always receive 10/10 service! All of the stylists are extremely knowledgeable in curly hair and will help guide you through any questions. It is worth the price - salons that specialize in natural hair are few and far in between.

Great experience with Nichole! She took a lot of information about my curls before the cut even started. Really happy with the results! A bit on the pricy side, but worth it for a cut that actually works with my hair.

Great costumer service and am thankful for their policy that you can come back within 2 weeks to get a trim, fix anything for free.

I had very long 2C hair and had decided to cut it very short because I wanted a change but was very nervous doing so because I hadn't gotten my hair cut short for many many years. However, I decided to trust this salon and I'm super happy I did. My stylist was Nichole and I am so happy that she took care of my hair. I was in the salon for 3 hours and loved every minute of it because she had handled my hair with such care, love and passion that all my fears had melted away. She cut my hair dry, washed it, conditioned it, put in treatment and then styled and diffused it for maximum definition, curl, and volume. During the consultation I stated that I wanted an angled bob with curtain bangs and she delivered exactly what I wanted and even blew my own expectations away. Their customer service is lovely and they even give you a hair care plan to take home with you so you know how to treat your hair. I have received many compliments about my haircut and how drastic of a change it was but that it suits me very nicely. Overall, I recommend this salon for their amazing service and technique.

I had a great experience at this salon! Right from the get-go, Millie put me at ease by going through a comprehensive consultation. She is super friendly, and very generous with her passing on her product knowledge and styling skills. Every step of the way, she thoroughly explained what she was doing and why. I went in thinking my hair had become wavy from years of using the wrong products and overdoing ponytails, but she actually brought my tight ringlets back! Yes, it’s a bit more expensive than your average trim, but in my opinion, the results and advice made the price well worth it.

Had my first appointment here and first salon apt in a decade. I’ve always been super nervous, as they always want to chop my hair off. Nicole was wonderful, very informative and answered all my questions. They also were very accommodating when my schedule changed last minute. I left with a wonderful healthy style, I’ll be going back in the summer for a cut!

I normally come here when I need my hair cut or trimmed, so I'm never disappointed. The staff - and my stylist- are great! They know what they're doing, they're friendly and I'm not in here longer than 90 minutes* (my hair is on the short side, so it doesn't take as much time). Would gladly recommend to fellow curly-haired people!
