Unfortunately, I did not have a good recent experience here. When I came in, I came with long hair. I understand some of it was damaged, but I asked for long layers, and not too much of the length to be taken off. I don't want to single out the lady who did it since she seemed quite nice, but she really didn't listen to me, and rushed the entire process so she could go back to dyeing her other clients hair. The entire cutting process took 30min (she had her timer on for her other client), which I thought was absurd considering how much hair I had. When she was all done, I realized she cut so much off, constantly convincing me "it'll still be long. " Now I'm stuck with short hair that sits at my shoulders, no idea how to work with it, and extremely upset and disappointed. I don't blame the salon itself, but please tell your employees to listen and confirm while cutting that this is what they want.

I visited the salon early July and my stylist was Sheri. We discussed what I wanted to do with my hair and she recommended low lights. I am very happy with how my hair turned out. Sheri was very easy to talk with & made the time pass by fast. I am definitely going back to see her when my hair needs touching up. Thank you for the great service!

I had my hair done by Sheri and she was absolutely fantastic! I see a lot of reviews for this salon saying they can 'only do older women's hair' but that's not the case with this stylist. I'm 23 and she gave me a modern cut with a gorgeous blowout. Definitely will be back again!

Customers were so amazing and positive attitude. This was my first cut at “The cut above” barber shop and I’m absolutely loving the work. The barber named eddy was my barber. If there was more than 5 stars, I’d give this man a 10 stars. Well done The Cut Above!

Went in for the first time. I had really long hair, asked for a TRIM minimum 2 inches off with long layers. She (Mimi) took 4 inches off with very choppy layers I had to come home and trim some uneven pieces.
I just don't understand why she didn't listen when i made it very clear I didn't want to take much off of the length and practically pleaded to keep it long but just trim the ends. I even showed her a picture that she didn't follow. Very upsetting and disappointing experience.

Thank you for responding but it was a photo of myself. Saying a minimum or maximum of 2 inches shouldn't matter especially when keeping the length was specified. And if that's something that you tell customers maybe clarify that ahead of time. In the past 2 Inches has always meant 2 Inches.

Terrible service. Overbooked, rude and not worth your time unless you have nothing better to do than sit here all day. Apparently booking an appointment long in advance doesnt mean that the stylist will have time to see you that day. Tatiana is rude and uncaring and although my family has been here a few times we will not return but find somewhere that our time and patronage is respected.

Nila is an amazing aesthetician, and is very good at what she does. The reason for four star is because I have not had anything done by anyone else in the salon except for Nila. I definitely recommend Nila!

Terrible haircut. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he said it was too short for me, he ended up cutting my hair much shorter than the picture. He was very distracted, every time someone around me started talking he would stop cutting my hair and listen in on the conversation. The hair line at the back near my neck is uneven, one side is noticeably longer than the other. He kept using thinning scissors to the point of excess and now my hair is so thin at the crown I've almost got a bald spot. The back and sides have been thinned too much as well. When someone has thick hair everyone wants to use thinning scissors but if you don't know what you're doing you can cause damage. I should have complained when I was there but I was embarrassed and just wanted to leave. Miserable experience - will not go back.

A lady named Sarah cut my hair. She did a blunt long layer hair cut just below my shoulders, and washed and dried it. It was my first visit, and it was a total success!:)

I went this morning to get my beard cut. I wish I'd done some research. I just couldn't shave my mustache and a small part of my throat to the left. The employee there just needed to shave the rest of the beard. In short, a 10-second job. But he did so badly when I went home I had to align my favorites with the razor blade. And I gave him $ 17 for this mess. I don't know about the women's section, maybe it's okay. But close the male section. What's more, you have an employee who doesn't know how to shave.

I love this place. I have had Tatiana, Sarah and Anna blow dry my hair and am always pleased. Neelam does a great job on eyebrows. Prices are good.

I went here to get my hair washed, cut and blowdryed. My stylist, Michelle, did a phenomenal job. She was quick, friendly and made my hair look the best it ever has. Would highly recommend her and this salon. 10/10

I would not recommend this place! I called to book the appointment and asked about the price for curling the hair. They said between 35 and 45$. Today I went there, they curled my hair and charged me 73$! When I asked why they told me the different price over the phone, they said that price is for another service. I live close by and was coming here before. But after this, I will never come here again! They lost a customer because they lied about the price.

Called and got an appointment for the same afternoon. Nick did an excellent job: suits my hair and is a very good cut. My husband even commented on how good it looked. Nick was also friendly and gave good advice. I will go back.

I try to avoid hair salons at all cost. I end up getting a trim once a year. There is a reason behind all this. I can never find a good hairdresser. They never listen, cut hair too short, and hide really terrible haircuts behind styling and styling products. There is no real talents in the field, they all do it for the money.
The Cut Above took it to the next level of my bad experiences with hair salons. Not only the cut was poor and too short, but I also ended up with and ear infection (called cellulitis) due to unsanitary tools, towels or who knows what else. The very next day I ended up at a walk-in clinic with a terribly swollen, red ear. The doctor explained to me this was most likely due to unsanitary tools they used at the salon. Now, I have to take antibiotics for a whole week.
Do yourself a favour, avoid this place at all cost.

To add to my wife Lise’s comment below. She did inform Cut Above of the incident with the stylist rubbing her belly as if she was pregnant and nothing was done. When it occurred the receptionist as well as the entire staff working witnessed the event along with the customers at that time. She came home crying. She should have stopped using your salon then.

I had a horrible experience with a hair stylist which could not perform my cut, when I told him that he was doing it wrong he stop the cut and asked me to pay at the front. So I had to pay the halfway worng cut. That was my worst experience ever with a haircut.

Services are awesome.and the staff is delightful and make you feel so at home. Receptionist is a pleasure to deal with she is super funny. Prices are very good and not over priced.

I have been going to this salon for 15-20 years (whenever I started highlighting my hair, I forget) and just in the past few years I’ve had a terrible experience. First is 2016 One of the stylists was upset I had another stylist dying my hair and caused a big scene after I just had my baby and even rubbed my belly when I was 2 weeks postpartum. It was the most ackward and mortifying experience I’ve ever had. I had a fixed amount of time to leave by newborn and it made me feel awful and uncomfortable.
Then just yesterday when I was charged, what turns out to be the correct pricing, more than I have been charged in 15-20 years! I am totally fine paying the correct price, but paying more when I had less done than previous occasions does not make sense to me. I did not have a blow out or hair cut. If this is how they treat there loyal customers - I’m out!

Wanted a dark red with blonde highlights - the first time she “stripped” my hair of colour by making it yellow and it ended up being half yellow half orange. When I said I wasn’t happy I was told the brightness would wear off in a couple of months.

This wasn’t the answer I wanted so I asked her (I think Tatiana was her name or some east European name) she said the toner would cost me more - I told her I did not want to leave the salon looking like the flaming sun with bright orange and yellow - it was frankly comical and ridiculous and nothing like the picture I’d showed.

After another hour and half (total of 2.5 hours here) the result was the exact same except now I was more blonde and less orange!

I ended up paying $285 and it was frankly the worst experience. Not only did I get the worst service and result but I was also charged for it and she said unfortunately it was the colour she used and had to. It’s been about ten months and to this date when I walk past this place at clover dale I shudder! Wish I could give it 0 star and have my money back but atleast I’m hoping this review saves other cluesless women from getting ripped off.

There is no option to reply on here so idk how you expect me to get back to you. On your website there is only an online appointment booking form and if you would like to provide me with your email I’d be happy to share the experience with you.

Additionally, I did ask to speak with the manager- I was told store is closing and I need to pay. When someone’s had a bad experience and bad service and telling you to basically get out - it’s hard to just stand there and demand a supervisor. I’m not confrontational and I do have self respect even if your staff doesn’t respect the customers.
I had booked the appointment in advance and if there hadn’t been so many issues I would’ve been out of there on time anyway.

I literally hid my hair for a week after this! Not to mention the irreversible damage done both to the hair and to me psychologically.

After years of questionable customer service I have had enough and will not be returning. I arrived five minutes early to my eyebrow appointment and was instructed to "have a seat. " After waiting 25 minutes (during which time another customer came and went into the room before me) I was finally seen by Julie. I asked her if I should knock on her door next time and she told me that the staff let her know that I was there. I can only assume they knew I was there and prioritized this other customer before me. To add insult to injury Julie decided to assess my skin and give me her unsolicited opionion that I should be taking Accutane for my acne. Julie does not know my medical history and should not be giving clients who are there to get their eyebrows threaded medical advice.

Bad service. Unprofessional. Dishonest treatment. I gave them a second chance since the first time they ruined my hair and I had to pay 65$. Second and last time there. Worst salon ever.

I had an appointment with Sarah at 7.30pm today (when I called the receptionist in the afternoon she asked me to come early since the stylist was leaving at 8pm). I arrived at 7.10pm.the receptionist kept saying sorry since this person was not there but finally Sarah showed up at 7.40pm without apologizing or saying her name (I knew it because I took her business card before leaving since I wanted to know who she was). I did not want washing and styling, I only needed her to trim the end of my hair and just give them a nice shape making an easy short bob cut (as one picture I showed to her) but she understood that I wanted a layered haircut and asked me if I spoke spanish since she did not get it.pretending that I was not clear.but the truth is that she was frustrated and irritated for no reasons.
Here it started the joke: I just seated. At 7.41pm she started trimming my hair for exactly 30 SECONDS and she said "Done" saying "see you come again" sending me to the front and she disappeared again. I was shocked.standing to the front like it was a joke. I PAID 40$ FOR NOTHING. 40$. SHE DID NOT DO ANYTHING ON MY HAIR AND I HAD TO PAY 40$. The receptionist was visibly embarrassed and uncomfortable since she saw everything.and when I made my complaint to her for the dishonesty of this person she apologized, she called her boss and made me a refund for the half of the cost.still unacceptable for doing nothing but at least the minimum I expected.
But I asked where was Sarah? Since I needed her explanation for what she has done. First the girl told me that she was coming in 2 minutes looking for her around.then she told me that she did not know how and where to find her since she disappeared again. The receptionist was aware of the ridiculous situation and bad service I have received. Basically I left the salon exactly as I entered.same hair but wasting my money. This is not fair and correct. By the way the salon was dirty and the people working there were visibly bored and unhappy. Do not reccomended. This is not honest.
