Retro Diner with exceptional quality of tasty food. I devoured my lamb rice taco egg dish and my wife loved her salsa omelette. Highly recommend if you are on Welland Street in St. Catharines.
My hubby took me today for brunch to this quaint little hole in the wall diner and it was awesome! All the staff were friendly & efficient, quick to refill our coffees. (Decaf was very good). We ordered the crustless quiche topped with caramelized onion jam. Oh my gosh - it was so fluffy & flavourful! Homemade strawberry jam on homemade bread, large honey garlic sausage, roasted potatoes- all hot & delicious. The 1950's atmosphere is so cute with all the different arborite tables & dishware. Definitely going back again & again!
I took the mushrooms on toast (includes goat cheese and two eggs sunny-side up) with the lamb soup and my boyfriend took the other plate I don't remember the name of. Retro looking restaurant with odd food combinations I couldn't quite place the inspiration for. I liked mine, but my boyfriend said the insides of his fried eggs were cold. Friendly staff. If you wanna try something different, this is it.
You can really tell they put love into their food. Staff was so friendly, food was amazing and fresh! That homemade jam was delicious! There was a wait when I got there, but it was a very quick turnaround time. Parking is also not great, so go early if you can.
This little unassuming gem was amazing! Had the Fave Son-In-Law and it was delicious! You have to try the Apple Habanero hot sauce! I loved it so much I bought a jar to bring home! I may have to go back to stock up!
Love the retro vibe in this place! Food was top notch and staff was friendly! Amazing breakfast and the homemade jam is yummy! Will definitely be back!
Cute little diner with Gilmore girl vibes. It's in an unexpected location but the food and service were good! We got the fave son in law and pork hot mess. The phm was the winner out of the two!
What an unexpected delight. We were in town for a wedding from Toronto and stumbled upon the diner house for breakfast.
This has to be one of the best breakfast places I’ve ever been too, and you’d never know from the outside. Service is friendly and kind, the food is unique and so tasty, and it seems like almost everything is home made. They ensure every aspect of your meal is top quality. The bread is spectacular and made in house.
First time back to Diner House 29 since the pandemic. The price has gone up as expected but the increase was very reasonable. The menu is unique, not the normal diner food. This time I had the bratwurst on toast and a fried egg topped with a mushroom sauce, just the sound of it was delicious and it did not disappoint. Definitely will visit again next time in St. Catharines.
The breaded poached egg is amazing. However, it's not the only unique creation this place has to offer. It's not North American, Caribbean, Asian but rather a sophisticated blend of all the cuisines I've known. A must try for food aventurers
A friend and I went here this morning on a whim and holy smokes. First of all, the food was insanely good, I've been thinking about it all day. We.were blown away by how delicious it was, and very creative, fresh and well thought out. Secondly, our server and everyone that worked there that we came in contact with was SO nice and hospitable. It is a small place, and very busy and I can see why, atmosphere and decor was on point. We already have plans to go back.
Loved both experiences of this little place. Hardly want to tell others of this spot. Loved the scene and environment as well as the staff and how friendly and welcoming they are. They make you feel right at home cozy and comfortable
Apr2023: my wife and I had high hopes based on recommendations from friends and the nearly 5-star rating on Google, but.
We don't expect to come back anytime soon. I wish it could have been different.
Ambiance was there, service was good, quality was there, and there were certainly interesting eclectic fusion items on the menu.but unfortunately the overall value wasn't there. Smallish portions on both the French Toast and the Western Omelette, plus one juice was $43 (with tax) + tip. That is too much for breakfast for 2.especially because we skipped coffee.
