The Elm Cafe

One of my favorite places in Kingston. Great food, great service, great atmosphere and attracts a great crowd. I have had some fun conversations and have spent a good amount of time working on projects with my laptop there.

Really lovely local cafe with friendly staff. I really enjoy the drinks and the pre-made sandwiches, and there's also a selection of baked goods as well. I also love that there's patio seating in the back!

This shop is clean with a nice atmosphere. Workers were friendly and efficient. As we travel I enjoy trying different coffee shops take on lavender coffee. This was by far one of the best lavender coffees. I got a iced Lavender White Mocha.

Unassuming little gem in an interesting but safe area on Montreal. I've only ever seen young women working here; they're so pleasant you'd think they were Disney princesses or something. Yummy and creative drink options. Other than a blueberry muffin which was delicious, haven't had much of the food here yet. Mum said BLT was fantastic. Very happy to have this place so nearby. Hope it stays forever.

The Joe is hot, the sandwiches make me tap dance (that’s good) if you’re lucky you get the wobbly table and that lets you admire and appreciate your own stability.

First time visitor, great spot, friendly energetic atmosphere and great menu! Smells amazing inside and the breakfast sandwiches are popular. It was busy but service was quick. Thank you Logan for the perfect coffee that made my day!

New to the area I decided to jump online and see what the locals recommend for a relaxed atmospheric coffee shop.

Elm Café had the most mentions so I decided to check it out.

It's a little gem. There are 5 or so tables along the wall that sit one person comfortably if you wanted to work with a laptop. A nook area that I'm seated in, works well for a small intimate group. And an outside space for more open, perhaps louder conversations.

The cappuccino was fantastic (well done on the art!) I couldn't decide between the molasses ginger cookie or the peanut butter, so I did what any reasonable childlike adult should, and had both.

Price: A little over $11 including the $2 tip for the cappuccino and 2 cookies

They were great with the peanut butter slightly edging ahead for the win.

Clean, friendly and cozy.

We just had a lovely experience at Elm this morning. Best feta spinach turnover I have ever had, it was fresh, flaky and just so good. Staff was very friendly and of course the coffee was great! HIGHLY recommend.

What a great little find for a quick lunch & visit off the beaten path with a friend. Very clean & inviting, lots of healthy, tasty choices & generous portions (giant peanut butter cookies, are healthy, right? Asking for a friend! Lol)

What a hidden gem! Great food and coffee. Nice little spot. The breakfast sandwiches are excellent!

I don’t get here enough, but throughly enjoy it when I do. Tried to beat the heat today with an iced mocha over a hot one and as always it was great.

Tip: many coffee shops and cafes in town open at 8… to late for me, but the Elm opens at 7: 30 making it easier to get in and. It just resorting to Tim….

Warm and delicious comes to mind. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with delicious breakfast sandwiches, hot chocolate and cookies. The super efficient and friendly owner took a moment to pose with my Florida's school's travelling bumblebee. Our theme is Growing together to bee better. There were some regulars, also teachers, and they got into the whole theme too! Even patrons are bee Utiful. We will definitely Bee back.

We stopped in Kingston briefly on a bus trip and picked up an array of sandwiches and wraps from The Elm Cafe and they were so lovely to deal with and the food was delicious and enjoyed by our whole group! Thank you so much, and next time we're in town we'll certainly stop by again!

Sitting at a table that was literally a generous cross section of a tree (was it an elm? I am not an arborist), I thought, "well isn't this lovely. " A cappuccino was well prepared with Pilot beans from Toronto. I was on a first date. She had an Americano which she said was good. There was local art on the walls. Art banter ensued. It really was a little bit of Toronto in Kingston, complete with Queen's students and alumni. Alas, I digress. I have no complaints. It's an oasis on the journey from Montreal to Toronto. Of note: I bought a delightful chicken salad sandwich with some curry spices in the mix on whole grain bread for my journey home. Stay for the coffee. Leave with a sandwich.
