I have been using the Energy Centre for many years now for heating and A/C maintenance and have been very happy with their service. So, when I needed a new furnace I went to them. They are knowledgeable, helpful, professional and provided excellent advice. The installation crew were quick, efficient and cleaned up well afterward. Highly recommended.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I’ve pasted below an email sent to the company eight days ago explaining our situation – this email went unanswered.

As an update; it was NOT the batteries – I put the old batteries back in and it worked. I’ve also spoken to several of their competitors, and this company did not perform anything even remotely resembling of a “diagnostic”. We now have to pay again for the same service from a competent company. Hugely disappointing. Don’t waste your money; it appears we won’t be seeing our hard-earned dollars again.

Email as promised:

“Good afternoon,

I am writing to complain about an incomplete "diagnostic" as well as some very unfortunate customer service I received over the phone yesterday.

We had a technician in our home in mid-December for a diagnostic of a malfunctioning gas fireplace. I described the issue to the technician in detail, including that the issue started out as intermittent. He changed the batteries and it worked for a moment. He did not perform any other testing, or any "diagnosis". We paid in full.

Within a day or two the issue returned. I called and left a voicemail around Christmas, which was never returned. We assumed you were slow to return the voicemail due to the holidays, so we accepted this delay.

Yesterday I called and was hung up on by various staff members FOUR TIMES. How is that appropriate or acceptable?

I would like to formally request a refund on the initial "diagnostic", OR to have a proper diagnostic performed on our fireplace ASAP.

We paid your company a non-trivial amount of money. We are a young family with young kids, and to lose $150 is unacceptable. Please let us know how we can resolve this situation. ”

I couldn't be more pleased with the installation of my new furnace and repair of the humidifier. Joe and Anthony came at the time I was told they would and the job took the length of time I was told it would! They explained what they would do and then what they had done during an inspection. The job site was cleaned up and I was not at all put out the entire time.

I would really not recommend this company. I found the company to be more interested in making money than resolving actual issues. Awful customer service and lack of technical confidence

I was having intermittent issues with my fireplace turning on. The technician who showed up quickly replaced the batteries and performed no further troubleshooting. I was informed all is well before he bolted out the house and charged a full diagnosis fee.

It should be stated that I live in a townhouse downtown ottawa without guaranteed parking. Mostly street parking.

Within the same days I started to experience the same issues. I left a voicemail and no one called me back so I tried again after the holiday

The technician informed me that he will only come if I guarante him parking near the house and that last time he came he had to park illegally and rushed the job. I was then told that I had to ensure the intermittent issue had to be happening when they come back again or id be charged another full price diagnosis fee.

STAY AWAY! Very unfriendly money hungry place.

Great company to do business with, this is my second furnace installed in 20 years! They even supply me with electric heaters when I had no working furnace for 4 days! The service is very professional!

Terrible experience, My my and I was so upset after diagnosed and paid for the visit they never get back. Leaving our house in cold such unproffesional.
