The Frog: A Firkin Pub

Like most people I go to at least 50 restaurants a year. But I don’t have post a review for any of them unless there’s something very positive to say.

This is your typical firkin pub in name only. Multiple different environments are available as there’s a main floor bar area and then a second floor bar area.
I had to kill some time in the area and planned to eat and have a couple of beers. The brunette young bartender on the main level yesterday was above and beyond what you expect from a bartender. She came around the bar to serve everyone at the bar top tables. Ice, cold, beer, and as I was waiting, the kitchen sent out free tasters to everyone of various appetizers.

The stuffed mini Yorkshire puddings are dangerous. Don’t have it. If you have one you’ll want 20. Stay away. Then they gave us a Chana stuffed tacos. Very very tasty. But I go back to thinking about the Yorkshire puddings and how I could design a magic trick where I have to eat my way out of 1000 of them. Of course, being silly, but really, try them.

I asked the waitress to decide my meal for me. I was stuck between the turkey club sandwich, and the beef dip sandwich. I was very happy when she delivered the beef dip sandwich with a side of tater tots. I don’t like tater tots – usually. They smell freezer, burned and taste chewy. But these, they must be made fresh. No question. I pleaded with them to consider making a poutine with these tater tots, then I said, no! You got to do an oxtail poutine with these tater tot‘s! But no, wait! We need to do a garlic, Parmesan aïoli tater tot dish.

Needless to say I was drunk on the appetizers and flavours and not on the one beer I had at this point.

There’s lots to consider in this area if you’re looking for something new like a Korean or Japanese based cuisine. But this pub has the atmosphere. You don’t get it any of those places and that’s what I was looking for. Someplace to get lost in for two hours have a fantastic meal, could’ve met new people if I wanted to, but didn’t have to, and I’m pretty sure the owner was on premise and mingling about. Now that’s a Joint do you want to give your business to.

I would not recommend that place, very rude service and they totally do not know how to communicate and service customers. I hope people who read that choose any other location to have satisfied evening.

The place was pretty good; food was okay, atmosphere was better, but the service, the service was amazing! My server’s name was Dahlia and ALL NIGHT she made sure my drink was filled, checked up on me, and overall made my week. I’d come back 100 times thanks to Dahlia.

Didn’t like their hospitality and rude behavior. Me and my friend went there to eat something and drink beer. The waiter didn’t even said “hi” to us, just looked and went away. The food was not fresh, especially fries.

If you like beers, connecting with new people, play pools then this is your go to place. It's easy to meet new people and get connected. Service is also good however food could have been better as compared to it's ambience and service. We went as a group of 8 and it was fun. There are ample of space and high chairs and tables.

Abdi and dahlia are the best on Sunday’s. I come every week and they always make sure everyone is taken care of and having a good time.

I could just enjoy the atmosphere because they have pool table, food quality was not good and the server was rude. I asked couple of questions about the menue and she just stare at me and left.

The Frog has been there a long time, and it is beginning to show. Needs some maintenance and refresh. Food is fried, drinks are wet

The bartender and staff looked like they just rolled out of bed. Not friendly. Over priced.

This place is so much fun! The food is great and the service is amazing! Special thanks to Dhalia and Dominique for providing excellent service! Definitely coming back soon and highly recommend this place for everyone!

Our server came to the table once in 90 mins.and really didn't seem like they wanted to be there. W head one drink, in 90 mins. A bad night maybe?

We were going to this place with friends and family as it is so close to our place. The servers and the bartenders had always been very kind except the bald guy. He barely makes eye contact or say a single word to confirm the order and the last time I ordered, he never brought the drinks. Again, the food, the drinks and every other person who works there are great except for the bald guy.

Service was prompt and pleasant. Being midweek lunch there weren't many people there, so I don't know what it's like when it's busy. I enjoyed the food. I had a curry and I asked for extremely hot. I am used to high heat curries as I come from the UK. It came just hot. I understand that, the way I make it is probably inevitable to most Canadians. One of the surprises is that this place is more like an English pub than any place I've been to in Toronto. Somehow they managed to capture the essence.

Attended a private event where we donated a new unwrapped toy for dinner and 2 drinks. Well done!

I went there as I heard that Firkin's has the best nachos. It was below average at best.

They do not have high chairs, just in case you are planning to go there with a kid.

Our first waitress was rude. Luckily, our second waitress was much better.

Curried chicken and sheppard pie were okay. Curried chicken did not come with mango chutney even though the menu advertised it as such.

Great place to hang out. Our server Dominique was very friendly, and so were other servers / bartenders during our stay at the Frog. I'm definitely going back with other friends.

Burger was pretty good. They threw in some onion rings with the fries which was nice.

The atmosphere is very much like a pub. At the time I went they had alternative rock from the 1990s to 2000s on which I loved!

Great place to hang out with your buds.

Servers were super helpful. We had a large group and came in unannounced. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The food was also great. The Shepherds Pie was delicious.

This is a great young street Pub with an authentic feeling. This is a happy place as the staff are always cheerful to serve you. There's a variety of different ambiance arrangements for seating, that makes this bar very comfortable and cozy, along with small outside patio. Check out their food menu you'll really like it.
