I recently had the privilege of receiving care from the incredible team at Hamilton Midwives, and I cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional experience they provided. From the beginning of my pregnancy journey to postpartum care, their dedication, expertise, and genuine compassion truly stood out.

Maisha Ahmed and Suzie, in particular, played pivotal roles in ensuring I felt supported and well-cared for throughout every step of the process. Their attentiveness and commitment to providing personalized care made a significant difference in my overall experience.

Maisha Ahmed's professionalism and warm demeanor made me feel comfortable and confident in the care I was receiving. She took the time to address all my concerns, providing clear explanations and guidance. Her knowledge and expertise were evident, and I felt reassured knowing I was in capable hands.

Suzie, too, demonstrated an unwavering commitment to my well-being. Her genuine concern and empathy created a supportive environment that greatly contributed to my overall positive experience. Maisha and Suzie's postpartum visits were especially comforting, as she continued to monitor my recovery and offer invaluable guidance during those crucial early weeks.

The entire team at Hamilton Midwives deserves recognition for their collaborative efforts in providing outstanding care. From the friendly receptionists to the dedicated staff, everyone contributed to creating a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere.

I wholeheartedly recommend Hamilton Midwives to any expectant parent seeking a compassionate and professional care team. My journey was made immeasurably better by the expertise and kindness of Maisha Ahmed, Suzie, and the entire Hamilton Midwives team. Thank you for being an integral part of my pregnancy and ensuring a positive start to my motherhood journey.

Had a great experience with the Hamilton midwives. Everyone is very lovely, professional and supportive. My primary midwife was Alison. She has been my primary midwife through both my pregnancies. Had a great rapport with her. Very professional, calm and caring. Would highly recommend. Thank you for helping me through my pregnancy and postpartum.

My wife and I just had our first child and the Hamilton midwives were the absolute best. Very comforting and genuine staff in a calm environment. We had Touka and Claudia as our midwives and they did an incredible job guiding my wife and I over the past year and answering any questions we had for them. I can’t recommend them enough.

I had the best experience having my first child with The Hamilton Midwives and I would certainly recommend them to anybody. My first takeaways were that consent and informed choice were very important to them and I really trusted everything they had to say. I never felt any pressure or judgment from anyone and I always felt in control of my decisions. From the very early days when they took me on until my final appointment I felt very bonded to my midwife Touka. She was so personable and warm and I found her very calming. I couldn’t believe how above and beyond she went for us when it came to postpartum care; she really made us feel like she cared about our daughter as much as we do which put me completely at ease. We also worked with Claudia who ended up being with me when I gave birth to my daughter and they handled my whirlwind, chaotic birth with such grace. I felt safe and well taken care of and have nothing but good things to say about either of my midwives!
The only negative is that now that my baby is six weeks old I won’t be seeing them anymore! Touka and Claudia, we will miss you so much! Thank you so much for taking care of us and our Luna.

My experience with the Hamilton midwives was extremely positive.

I was lucky to be paired with my midwife Muneera which felt like it was destiny. Muneera treated me more than a patient and always went the extra mile. Not only did I feel secure by her expertise but her maternal instinct and care always reassured me.

During every visit she ensured to hear me out on my concerns and thoughts on my health before she provided more medical context to the situation detailing on pros and cons making me certain that I was in good hands.

My birth experience was a long and tiresome one and Muneera stayed with us from the start till the wee hours of the night being a rock to me and my husband. My husband personally felt Muneera’s presence all through the 9 months of my pregnancy and postpartum made us feel extra looked after.

We were so lucky to have her. I felt anxious after the postpartum care with her ended.

Thank you so much Muneera for taking good care of me and my daughter as your own family.

In direct response to your comment on Daneen Melanson's review:
I am one of Daneen's three sisters, and one of the six witnesses, that was present for her labor and delivery. The practice was not "staffed properly" as you said in your review. Heather was the only midwife present for the entire day daneen labored, and for the entire birth. The "junior" student was there briefly before she was told to go pick up the pain medication Daneen requested (that was supposed to already be on site for Daneen, and returned later. I was the one that called 911 while your "junior" student scrambled around trying to find the tools the main midwife was calling for because she couldn't find the baby's heartbeat. Hearing your "junior" student ask Heather to describe the tools she was looking for because the student had no idea what they were was terrifying. In the end, one of my sisters and my brother in law had to step in and help. Because there was only one midwife to care for my sister, Heather needed my sister and brother in law's help flipping Daneen over (not once, but twice) to try to pull the baby out. She also needed my sister and brother in law's help holding Daneen down while she performed the episiotomy. The midwife that arrived in her pajamas because "she responded so quickly" that you mentioned in your review actually arrived AFTER the multiple ambulances, police, and fire fighters arrived. I wish 911 was called because Heather needed "an extra set of hands" as you said in your review, but unfortunately for us that was not the case. 911 was called because the baby was stuck inside the birth canal and wasn't breathing. Did you know she didn't breathe for at least 5 minutes? Did you know my sister was lying on the bed bleeding profusely for minutes because there was no one to attend to her while Heather attended to the baby? Daneen, her husband and her baby suffered because of your inability to ensure the correct amount of appropriately trained staff were scheduled to attend her labor and delivery. Your callous disregard for Daneen and her baby's safety and health that day was disgusting. Your blatant lies that you have posted for the internet to read are worse. Your response to a terrifying and traumatic birth experience is disturbing and shows a complete lack of accountability and empathy. This experience was not something for Daneen to "take in stride" as you said you thought she did. This is an experience that not only she, but the rest of my family and I, will never be able to forget and will continue to impact us throughout our lives. You owe Daneen, her husband and her baby an apology and should consider yourself lucky that both Daneen and the baby are healthy.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about midwives and staff at this office. They are so welcoming and friendly, always there when you needed them. I couldn’t imagine going through my pregnancy without these women, and whenever I have my next baby I’ll go out of my way just to return here! Kim, and Arlene thank you for making me feel so cared for! I hold you ladies so close to my heart.

I had such a positive experience in using midwifery care both pregnancies. They truly make the appointments something to look forward to. I will miss all the support and care received! Special shout-out to Alison, Arlaine and Kim!

Truly blessed for my experience with the Hamilton midwives. My first pregnancy was unexpected and I was full of emotion and excitement. I was assigned to Touka and Tiffany and they were both fantastic. Genuinely kind and very knowledgeable. I felt supported in all aspects. The last 6 weeks (I think) of my pregnancy I was dropped from Tiffany and introduced to Sherin who was also very professional and always made herself available to me. I M very thankful for my time there and would definitely recommend the organization to anyone. I wanted to give the biggest props to Touka for attending home visits lost partum to support and check my baby's condition due to jaundice. Made me feel very cared for and cared for, she helped me become a stronger mama and we talked like old friends. She's fantastic at her job.

Prenatal care & postpartum care with midwife Tiffany was great, she’s very kind, trustworthy and professional. The reason for my poor rating is not because of Tiffany.

I had a very traumatic at home birth & suffered from shoulder dystocia. This could have been prevented had I been offered an ultrasound closer to my due date to check my baby’s weight. There were also not enough midwives available who were “on call” the day I went into my labour, causing there to only be 1 midwife and a student able to be present. I was told the student was graduating in 4 weeks to later find out she was a FIRST year student who had never done a birth before. Since my midwife (not Tiffany!) that day had forgotten tools including the laughing gas, the student had to leave for an hour. By the time I began pushing there was only one midwife present and 911 had to be called. The agency also did not acknowledge how traumatic my birth was or do a debrief. I was completely avoided by the midwife who was present at my birth and had not seen her during my postpartum care.

After having a completely natural, vaginal birth and episiotomy I was REFUSED pain medication until 8 hours later. I was treated quite poorly by another midwife who treated me like a child and told me that if I did not urinate then she was going to give me a catheter and reminded me how painful that would be and that she would not give me medication for the pain.

I chose midwifery because I wanted to be treated like a human. Instead this is what I got. So when you are choosing and if you do choose this agency, make sure that you get that last ultrasound. No matter the size of your belly.

I am so lucky to have found the hamilton midwives for my first pregnancy and birth experience. I received care from Kim & Claudia and felt like they both truly cared for my family! I had planned for a home birth and ended up delivering at the hospital due to some complications. Kim was present at my birth and I felt very safe and confident in her hands. Allison was on call so I got to meet her for the first time and have her there as-well, she was amazing! During my time pregnant and during labour/delivery we got to work with the midwives students and both were incredibly professional and knowledgeable.
I just had my 6 week check up yesterday with our daughter and it made me wish we could continue going back for her regular check ups and appointments! I will miss them and appreciated all of their support and guidance through my journey. I am looking forward to my next pregnancy to go back and see them again!

This was our second time using the Hamilton Midwives. Last time was for our daughter in 2020. I had requested Tiffany but she wasn’t available. We ended up getting Susie and her student Muneera as our main midwives. They were awesome! My labour ended up only being 2 hours long (30 minutes after we go to the hospital) and they maintained their professionalism while we were losing our marbles if we have more in the future we will definitely be back!

I don't know how my previous review got disappeared.

Thanking my midwives Sussie, Sophie and Touka for being there for me.

Glad that these angels been sent for me and can't thank enough for making my birth journey smoother.

Thanks Sussie, your knowledge is incredible.

I am so glad I went with the Hamilton Midwives for the birth of my child - this was my first and they did a great job walking me through the pregnancy and first 6 weeks postpartum; taking the time to answer questions, checking in to see how things were going, and being just a phone call away in case I had questions or concerns. I appreciate their personal approach and they were such a great and encouraging resource during delivery too. The Hamilton Midwives offer a great service and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

My husband and I had such an amazing experience welcoming our first child with The Hamilton Midwives.

Tiffany and Claudia were our primary midwives, they patiently and thoroughly answered all of the questions we had - and we had a ton! I was never rushed, I felt very informed and super empowered throughout my pregnancy and labour; this included all my cervical checks, any weird symptoms I experienced during pregnancy, and I went into labour feeling super excited and strong. I also seriously appreciated all the postpartum home visits because learning to breastfeed + taking care of a baby for the first time + taking care of yourself after labour is HARD and these women really helped to make sure I had all the support I needed.

Our daughter was born on January 2nd, so unfortunately there was a scheduling error and neither of my midwives were available to attend my birth. My backup midwife was also unavailable. This was the only bump in the road (my feedback would be to make clients aware that this can happen as these types of last minute changes are not for the faint of heart), however Allison (one of the midwives I had never met before) attended my labour. She understood the relationship I built with Tiffany and Claudia and was able to attend my labour with the same energy. I was really thankful to have what felt like a familiar and knowleable friend with me throughout the day.

I ended up having a c section as we learned my baby was so active she managed to get tangled in the umbilical cord. My midwives had briefed me on what might happen in this situation, so again I went through with this procedure feeling prepared for what to expect. I had a painless and fearless birthing experience.

Midwives are a great route to go if you feel that knowledge is power; whether you are having a first child or are shooting for a better or different experience with subsequent pregnancies, the midwives have the experience and knowledge to help you achieves the birth experience you’re hoping for.

Special thanks to Hannah for always being available to help with questions, scheduling, and navigating the midwife space during my first pregnancy.

I had the most amazing midwife team - Tiffany, Daniela, and a co-op student Katie. These people are seriously good at what they do, and are genuinely so kind, compassionate and patient. A first pregnancy can be a very exciting, confusing, and scary time - these people kept me well informed and feeling confident. They exceeded my expectations. I am so glad that I chose midwives over a physician or obstetrician because the personalized care, 24/7 pager and home visits are unmatched. The parking situation is also not great at this building. I will definitely choose this clinic again for my next pregnancy (if I can get the same team!) and would recommend it to anyone seeking amazing care during their pregnancy, labour and postpartum period.

My wife and I just went through our third pregnancy with the support of Kim and the rest of the Hamilton midwives. They have been supportive, loving, knowledgeable, and compassionate to our whole family. We have recommended them to all of our family friends who are thinking about expanding their families, and have nothing but the best things to say about them.

These people not only failed to accommodate my request for accommodation of my disability, they did so by falsely accusing me of “raising my voice”. I am not able to give birth in s hospital, so failure to provide accommodation or services has resulted in me being forced into giving birth at home myself.

They also did not provide a birthing kit or access to medical supplies i may need.

In reply to your comment: when requesting accommodation for outside services, in disclosing my history of trauma, you later accused me of yelling. You did not smooth over anything- in fact, i had to speak with their manager and the front desk was still very rude.

Upon requesting accommodation to Not be triggered at every appointment with phrases like “your baby could die if you don’t take the vitamin k shot” (which is trigger to people who have been through trauma) with a reasonable request for 1 appointment designated to go over my choice for natural alternatives instead of bombarding me snd triggering me at every appointment. I disclosed my disability, the details of where it came from (which is like reliving it over snd over). Instead of compassion, care, safety or accommodation, you used this sensitive information to stone wall me snd accuse me of abusing you. Abusing you because you had a soft speaking, calm voice while you told me my experience snd request for accommodation was invalid. You further used your zero tolerance policy out of context because my emphasis snd plea for help birthing my baby at home (further disclosing my inability to go to hospital and why) had nothing to do with you, other than my request for accommodation because of it.

You used that policy to exclude me because you didn’t like my views, my boundaries or my requests.

If you would like, i can come by the office with my guitar singing white rabbit so you have some reference as to just how false and inaccurate your accusation of raising my voice really was. When you see the spectrum of volume i am capable of projecting naturally you will see clearly that what you heard in that office was my voice at a level of stress and anxiety, not a raised voice.

You put in zero effort to provide trauma informed care snd used your policies to further attempt to disempower me.

It has been a year and a half since I've had my child and I still struggle when thinking of the experience I had with the Hamilton Midwives. This was my first pregnancy and I was very excited about the level of care a midwife would provide after speaking with friends who had used them.

Of my two midwives I only spoke with/met one. Midway through my pregnancy I was switched to another team due to one of my midwives leaving and again, I only met one (via phone). At some point I was referred to an OB and when the OB decided to take on my care the midwives fairly rudely told me they don't share care but would still keep me on and be present for the delivery/postpartum period. I ended up having my baby prematurely, the hospital said they would contact my midwife but did not and a day later when I had my scheduled midwife call they were informed I had given birth at St Joe's (directly across the street). My midwife said they would come but then cancelled and said they would come the next day, but again didn't. I was there for three days with no visit. Over the course of the next month my child was readmitted to the hospital twice and still did not have any visits with the midwives.

The midwives did not meet my child or provide in person postpartum care to either of us at any point.

It was to the point where the BANA clinic said they had never experienced such a lack of care and they opted to take over my child's care which is not something they normally do as they are primarily a breastfeeding clinic. Instead of recovering at home I had to repeatedly make trips to the hospital to ensure my child was growing and developing properly.

I, myself, received no postpartum care from anyone.

When I look back on the experience it leaves me feeling robbed of something I was very much looking forward to - support, compassion, and reassurance.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience with the Hamilton Midwives. I was under the care of Alison during my pregnancy and post partum and could not recommend her more highly.

The midwives are not just knowledgeable but very thorough and empathetic in providing care. Touka and Danielle were so sweet through my pregnancy and even after I had my lil' one in December.
I will definitely recommend if you are in the Hamilton mountain/downtown area.
