False Marketing! They had advertised Amul Kool Milk as 4 for $5 in a Facebook ad, but we went to The Indian Supermarket Ottawa today (on 10th October, 2023) and the price of the product was 4 for $6. When we asked staff, they just said that "it must have changed. " We didn't even bother checking the prices of anything else or buying anything from there as it seems like they change prices after advertising it at a lower price. Plus, we wouldn't have been able to check prices for products because for most of the products, there are no prices mentioned anywhere.
Clean, tidy, large variety, fair prices, and friendly staff!
Visited here for the 1st time, and also the first Indian grocery store I’ve shopped at in Ottawa. Staff were friendly & offered help as well. Prices are very fair & clearly displayed with the items. They have a loyalty program to collect points so it’ll be handy if you become a frequent shopper.
Great selection, and solid selection of frozen items + spices.
Saw the owner or another clerk whisper discreetly to the cashier prior to checkout, and noticed an additional charge on the receipt after getting home (GROCERIES - $2.99), and that two desserts (charged by weight) were lumped under the same $14.99/lb charge (when one box was very clearly divvied up and marked as $9.99/lb).
Will be reaching out to my credit card provider to get the charge rectified (I took photos of the groceries, and have my itemized receipt). I'd avoid shopping here unless you're Indian.
Edit: I'm absolutely not contacting the owners, as this was a premeditated attempt to scam a customer; luckily I took down evidence, so it's not a "he said, she said" situation. I warn anyone who's thinking of shopping here to think twice.
This may be the only negative review I've left, ever, in my 100+ reviews on maps. Awful stuff. Don't be fooled by their attempts at damage control on other negative reviews.
This shop has almost everything related to Indian/Pakistani foods, dry, fresh, frozen items. The staff are young, energetic, friendly and helpful. The aisles are narrow, so visit when less crowd. Many items are labeled without price or not matched in proper locations. Check the packages for expiry date and freshness, Many produce could be fresh or old. Good choices of dry snacks and mouth watering frozen snacks and dinner.
Good place for Indian groceries and vegetables. The staff behavior is very good and they have huge selections of Indian groceries. Some times the price are not matching with the display. The food section and sweet section is good. The spicy dhokla taste very good. But we can get it one Friday and weekends before 2 PM. The prices for some products are higher side. But good place for Indian groceries.
Stealing from customers. In my last 3 visits I found 4 items which had different price on shelf and billed at higher price. I gave them benefit of doubt in my 2 visits but not in 3rd visit. They didn’t even remove or change the labels after highlighting the issue. I am sure it is intentional.
Trusted shop. Great customer service. Always welcoming experience and whenever there is any issue in product without any hassle employees do exchange or refund. Very customer oriented approach and always great experience. Even owners are approachable. Never gets offended by negative feedback. Always gives their best to work on improving quality.
A live insect in their product. Showed it to the cashier and she said she will refund for this. Refund for insect or the hospital bill for the sick person?
Great store with good prices and selection for the size.
My only complaint is that it seems like around half the products sold in the store don't have any price labels on them. This makes for a frustrating shopping experience because you feel like you don't know what it will cost until you checkout. This makes me usually go for items that do have a price instead, even though they might not be as good, but at least I know what I'm paying!
