The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Hunt Club

I had not been to a Keg restaurant since before the blip but wow things have changed. The price of the striploin classic meal has increased by $20. My wife ordered the 6 oz sirloin and I highly doubt it was half of that. Not sure how they could even serve something that small. My steak was supposed to be a 12 oz it was close but small. My daughter's steak was fine but her boyfriend's was also on the small side. Now before you tell me steaks shrink when you cook them keep in mind I have been eating and cooking steaks for years. I just grilled 3 striploins last night. I spent 10 years on the road travelling for work and have eaten at steakhouses and Kegs from coast to coast. With tip this meal came to $320. We had 4 entrees, 3 alcoholic beverages and a softdrink for me as the driver. The real question is would I go back or recommend anyone else go here? Simple answer is no. The quality of the food does not justify the prices. Sorry Keg you have lost me as a customer.

Friendly Staff, cozy atmosphere.

Brutal service. Spend $300 on a meal and the least you’d expect would be;
1. Get the order right the first time
2. No apology for wrong order
3. Say thank you and have a nice night at the end of the meal when you pay.

Finished with the keg. Wayyyyy too overrated for what you get and the staff are entitled kids that expect a big tip for sub par service. Come on management, it’s the Keg. You can do better

I celebrated my birthday this past weekend and I was so impressed with the food the service everything group of 10 everything came out perfect and accordingly the server was so sweet and on top of her stuff I never had to ask for anything twice it was great I wish I would have remembered her name so sorry. I would have thought they did a little more like a birthday song and a candle but I’ll live lol other than that absolutely amazing I love this location.

The restaurant was very beautiful and atmosphere was good. The wait time was long for a seat but we were able to sit at the bar. We ended up staying there because we enjoyed the table.
The food was good and cooked well. They took in my fiance's gluten intolerance and prepared his fries separately in the oven.

Went for dinner with my SO, have been to the keg quite a few times over the years, knew what to expect.

Show up and it was pretty busy, front desk said it would be 35-45 min wait. Wife and I said no problem, and got a seat in the bar area until our table was ready. Had a couple of apps, couple of drinks. After an hour we asked about our table - we were told we were next on the list.

Watched many people who had come after us being seated. Eventually, after another hour (yes, two hours total) and us having to ask two more times, we were seated. They had forgotten us.

By this time we should have just gone home, but suckers for punishment, we stayed for the rest of our meal. Waiter than forgot to serve my wife’s wine, only remembering after being asked, and it was then served with mains as they came out. I ordered a filet, it was okay. Wife got the prime rib (The whole reason we came) and it was beyond disappointing. 75% of the cut was just pure fat. Prime rib is supposed to be fatty, we understand this, and love the flavour it gives, but this was literally just fat with barely any meat.

We paid our $260 for our meal and left, very disappointed with the whole experience. Would not recommend this location.

We booked our table over the phone on a Monday for 5: 15. When we arrived they said they do not have any servers for five people so we have to wait until 5: 30! So we waited. Larger groups were seated but not us. After another 15 minutes and speaking to Sophie Paquette the service manager, we were finally seated. We could have left the house later instead of waiting there for half an hour and watching other people being seated! The manager never apologized!

I’ve dined in and have takeout from this location. I got takeout today. I ordered cheese toast which literally had no cheese (I’d estimate a quarter of the amount you’d usually get) and Caesar salad, where half the lettuce was spoiled. The warm food was ice cold and my Billy miner pie was half the size it usually is. Not to mention half of it didn’t have the typical crust. I won’t be spending my money here anymore… also it took 3 people to figure out how to do a takeout order.

Our meal was generally ok. Some failures imo.but.on sending a review to them they responded with a $40 gift certificate. Well done Keg.

Great friendly staff, sat at the bar and both bartenders where friendly- they were having a shortage of wine glasses but were working hard to get them for the people next to me. Guy at the other end of the bar paid for my meal which was a added bonus:)

The restaurant has an almost fine dining feel to it. The servers are very attentive and the food is at the standard you would expect from a proper steakhouse.

The food was amazing and the waitress super nice especially the guy who brought the food very nice and funny

Excellent steaks and prime rib, tasty and well prepared starter salads, attentive table service and helpful staff at the reception. For the first time in many years of going to the Keg, the side vegetables (peppers and zucchini) with our main dish were almost raw and mushrooms overcooked, as well we returned an order of calamari that was dry and overcooked. I hope it was just a blip, as this is a favourite for intimate meals and larger gatherings as well.

Perfect service, great greating at the door when you come in. Food was excellent as we celebrated our wedding anniversary with friends. Had the best of times at this place. Thank you for smiling to your clients and saying "Good evening and hope you had d a great dinner? " In deed we did!

I am not one to normally leave a negative or bad review but the morning after, I am still disappointed. My girlfriends and I decided to go to the Keg to celebrate our anniversary. Walking in, being seated and having our order taken was no problem. The staff was great, friendly and helpful. Appetizers came and it was good.

When our steaks came, mine was cooked righted but my girlfriends “medium” was very much on the rare side. The staff agreed it was undercooked, was nice to notice the issue and take her plate away to make a new medium steak. I stopped eating my plate, to wait for the new steak, so we could eat together. The manager came over a few minutes later, told us 7-8 minutes for a new steak and he would take my plate back to stay warm with new sides. 13-15 minutes later a new steak came for my girlfriend and they returned my plate. Her meal from there was good however my potatoes/veggies were cold in spots. I don’t know if they did give me new sides or when they were plated. Not wanting to make a further issue as we were hungry at this point, I just ate my meal.

They did offer us two free desserts to make up for the issues and for us to celebrate our anniversary. However as much as the desserts were tasty, we were going to a steak house for a nice steak dinner. After undercooked steak, 15 minute wait and then my cold sides we left disappointed. The dessert was nice but doesn’t overcome the issues of the meal.

I appreciate the efforts the staff made and they were very polite about the whole situation. After talking with my girlfriend, we both agreed we don’t want to go back to the Keg. It was suppose to be a special night at a nicer restaurant from where we would typically go and left disappointed.

Just had dinner here with my fiancé for our anniversary and had an amazing time. The food was outstanding (we had the neptune mushrooms and filet mignon). Our waitress Britney also gave us beyond exceptional service and was very friendly. Thank you for providing this great experience even during these tough times:)

OMG. The filet mignon with blue cheese crust is to die for. So tender and delicious. I could eat one every day! Great options for sides. The Ceasars salad is very good too.

This is my favorite keg location and as usual it did not disappoint on last night's visit. They seated us sooner than they promised. Fed us great food with great service

The Keg Steakhouse and Bars are Restaurant Icons in Canada as we have dined at many of them in Winnipeg, Moncton, St. John's, Edmonton, Montreal, and Calgary however our favorite is our Home location on Hunt Club Ottawa! We have dined many times at the Keg Hunt Club and we are never disappointed. We even had our last ten Christmas parties at this location. From their quality steaks, warm bread, wonderful appetizers, to their amazing desserts such as the ultimate Billy Miner Pie but in my opinion all these are second best to their superior customer service! From booking your reservation to being received in line by the hostess and escorted to your table, to the amazing servers, their fantastic chefs are all nothing but respect - class and professionalism in every llaspect of proud client service. The Keg in our opinion is the model for client service and customer satisfaction. The Keg Hunt Club is nothing but class where the Restaurant is squeaky clean and the washrooms are spotless. The Keg Hunt Club will always be are go to dining restaurant!

Amazing experience. Our server was wonderful. Food was outstanding, and our server even brought us a cake for a birthday we were celebrating. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!

Good service. Didn't rush us to leave even when it was getting close to the close time. Classic keg atmosphere and dining experience.

Only sad part would be the early close time compared to other stores.

Amazing food, it's only really worth going for a semi annual, big deal celebration, after that it become to expensive and repetitive.

A perfect place to celebrate our 25th Anniversary! Our server Sam was excellent courteous and looked after our every need! The food was excellent! Definitely one of our favorite spots!

Superb service and a fabulous meal made even better by a surprise complimentary piece of birthday cake. All protocols were observed for a very reassuring celebration.

We had take out for dinner and it was almost as good as eating at the restaurant. We both had the prime rib, they were cooked perfectly and there were warming pads under the mask or was still hot when we got home.

I do not know what words to explain my 20th anniversary. My wife and I having 3 children have not been out in 9 years on a date. Our 14 year old daughter made the reservations a few days ago which forced us to go. As soon as we walked in the front door we had great service. We spent an hour and a half with our server Liam. He never once forgot about us. Every single thing was amazing. It’s been a long time for us yet being in sales all my life we could never ask for better service. We will not wait another 9 years. Hope to see Liam on a regular basis. Thank you Liam so much

Food was, as always, fabulous and perfectly cooked. The waitstaff were polite and efficient to a "T". Covid restrictions set time limits on visits/reservations and the staff made it run seamlessly like clockwork. Bravo!

Great steaks and atmosphere, love the outside terrace, returned the 2 September for my wife birthday had great filet mignons, friendly waitress free parking

Our server was Jake. Excellent service. Friendly, attentive, helpful. We had the mushroom app, baked brie, and steak and crab / steak and shrimp. My steak did not come out to my liking and they were very quick to remedy the situation and even offered us a free dessert which I felt was not necessary, but was nice nonetheless. I know everyone always gets the twice baked potato or potato mash but honestly the season veg were exceptional. Big chunks of peppers, zucchini, etc. I always find the staff at The Keg to be top notch, they must have a good training program. I have no complaints.

Great service! Hailey was an amazing server and she accomodated us with all our needs. The ambience is very rustic and romantic (perfect for Valentines). What I prefer though is a bit more lighting cause its hard to take a picture inside. The food is fantastic! I would always come back to this place for special occasions and celebrations

Went her fordinner last night. We waited half an hour to get in. During this time there was 4girls and the manager standing around. During our meal we used the washroom which was disgusting. The stall were dirty and had urine on theseats. We were not the only ones who noticed this other people also weremaking comments. No excuse for this they should should have been checking instead of standing around talking.

Good food and waiter was very good.

Location seemed a little noisy and proved a challenge for a friend with hearing device.

Higher end of the price scale but definitely good.

The food is normally very good. Steaks are cooked as requested and of size shown on menu. Staff are good and helpful, lighting is relatively dim. Normally very busy on Fri, Sat and Sun and need to arrive very early to avoid a lengthy wait. Online booking for other days is available. Wifi is somewhat slow.

Used to love this place last time I was there bad service forgot are reservation for 12 and no apologies asked them to tell me they made a mistake no answer offered me a discount. Did not want that have not been back plus they cut back on there portions to save money don't waste your time here try somewhere else.

Great ambience, great service. Got a tough piece of meat this time (baseball sirloin) -worst I've ever had there by far, but still enjoyed the experience and will be back.

Got to cry the blue cheese fillet! It's amazing. You can also grab some great lobster if that's something to liking. Paired that with a strip loin or the filet and you're good to go.

I come from out of the province, Went early (5pm) to beat the rush which is usually around 7ish. Great food, great service, and no pressure to stay after finishing my meal, spoke to the Manager and give credit where it's due.
I cannot speak for other keg steakhouses but I had no complaints and would recommend to others, but get in early to enjoy the non rush hours. Also my server was on the ball (UK Slang) was excellent, alway aware of my needs and packed my left overs to go
Well done from the kitchen to the all the staff totally enjoyed.

You know it's the second time I was there this month and I must say the consistency is on point. Everytime.food is always good considering that there house is packed and turning over alot of tables every single weekend. Service is 95% of the time A+. Looking forward to going back.

My favourite restaurant. Love the filet Mignon with blue cheese and garlic, my husband loves the prime rib. It's very expensive though so we only go once every year or two for a very special occasion.

Good god.the food here is out of this world. Had the filet mignon and I could eat that over and over again for rest of my life and die a happy man.

We’ve been to The Keg over a hundred times, and today was by far the best service. Thank you Eddie for the great service and experience.

Absolutely loved it! My husband and I went out for a post-married dinner as a gift from my coworkers. The medium rare steak was cooked to perfection and just melted in my mouth, along with the awesome baked potato, so classic! By far very impressed, except the waitresses were a little snobby at the west end location in Ottawa.

Not my first or last visit. The atmosphere is warming. There is plentiful staff on site. The food was excellent and the Service is exceptional.

The negative I have is that I was sitting in view of the bar. I ordered 2 drinks, ceasar and crown and coke. I watched staff walk by it for 9 minutes until my server had the opportunity to get it and bring it to us.

Once we completed our apps and entrees our plates would just sit there for about 10-15 minutes until our server has the opportunity to clear them.

Likewise with the water fill up. No help for our server.

I must say that having all staff is fabulous but I think they should help each other. We sat at the long bar table and the server cleaning the 2 plates next to us did not have the thought of cleaning our dishes.

The Keg is known for its prime rib and steaks but it also serves chicken, ribs and sea food. The food is always good as is the service. The prices are reasonable for a steak house. The decor is always nice and the staff are attentive.

The food and service were amazing, we were there for my birthday on December 24 th with reservations. I personally dont think any restaurant should be sitting people by there kitchen door/ were the staff put in their food orders especially for what you pay at the keg to eat. Next time if we are not able to switch tables we will leave and go elsewhere.

Best place to have steak on the market. I liked Milestone until I went to The Keg. The service is good, there is room for many people, they are well organized and can accommodate large amounts of people without running out in the middle of the afternoon like many. I recommend

One of the best places I have ever eaten. The peppercorn steak is fenominal. Service is very polite and friendly. Great atmosphere, very warm and inviting. Top notch in my book!

Filet mignon was delicious, great calamari and tuna tartare. The lobster tail tho, tasted like pure SALT.the cheesecake was good & the ice cream cake was good. Great male waiters.
