I had to take the time to review Keg Barrie, our Family had an absolute Wonderful experience last night. The Food was A+ but the Staff was at a whole other level! Thank You!
Loved our birthday celebration last night! The Classic teriyaki sirloin was absolutely the best. Our server, Kaylee, had her very own touching memories of family visits to The Keg just like our family. We love this location, too. They even take reservations! Thank you for such a lovely night out at The Keg in Barrie.
Never been disappointed here. I always get the Blue Cheese Filet and always delicious. The last time I went I got the cauliflower mash for a change and it was actually delicious. Nice alternative to the garlic mashed.
Wow been a while since we Keg’d it and it never disappoints, Ryan, the kitchen manager stopped by our table to check on our food and everything was better then expected.all 3 steaks were cooked exactly how ordered. All meals were hot and plentiful. Richard our waiter was knowledgeable funny and didn’t rush us through our time there. It was nice of him to share some of his family stories about thanksgiving. More than 5 stars for the kitchen crew last Saturday night. Well done! We will be back soon
I was extremely dissappointed and quite frankly angey. I made a reservation for dinner and specified it was for an 88th birthday. When we arrived Our waitress even asked if it was a birthday and we said yes my Dad is 88 today. We ordered, ate, waited for the waitress to at least bring a dessert and say Happy Birthday but absolutely Nothing. Instead she brought our bill, we paid it and left. "For such an expensive restaurant they are very cheap". Was the exact words of the 93 year old that was with us. Frankly it was quite embarrassing that they didn't do anything. I was upset for my Dad. Seniors are getting ignored even though their money is just as good as anyone else's. Sorry I won't be back.
We will be back, thank you Richard for making the night amazing and being the best server I’ve ever had. Your service should be recognized as outstanding. Thanks for a great time.
Excellent atmosphere, went for our anniversary dinner, everything was on time, we didn't have to wait long to be seated or for our food to be delivered. The waiter was polite and checked in on us the right amount of times. Food was great. I recommend the peppercorn new york steak
Food was good and had different flavors than expected but really well prepared. My only question was about the prime rib, the flavor was good, but had something I didn't recognize, might be just a type of salt used or maybe it was tenderized with something else I don't recognize?
It's like our Miller & Carter The Keg is a Canadian place good food good wine casual dress if ever you go to Canada give this place a try you won't be disappointed I had an 8oz striploin and whole lobster tail for $61 which is about £50 in our money what a treat.
They did a great job with filet mignon and pepper corn sauce. One steak was too rare instead of medium rare they gave us free dessert to make up for it. Wish they brought back steak fries, garlic mash is very good though. Appy garlic shrimp tasty but shrimp very small. Make sure to call ahead 2 days to reserve.
Steak and prime rib so tough nobody could eat, server completely indifferent, not sure how a steak house could be so bad yet so expensive for such poor quality beef
I haven't been to the Keg in a while, and it's definitely not the same experience. I didn't like the new seasoning of the escargot, which used to be one of my faves. Side dishes were mediocre, but that's usual. The prime rib was excellent, which is really what you go for, so it's nice that hasn't changed. As for ambience, they played extremely loud and annoying dance music, like they were trying to rush everyone out as quickly as possible. This is definitely not the fine dining experience it used to be, it's more like an Applebee's now. I will say that all of the staff were excellent, and it's a very well oiled machine, just not fine dining.
Make sure you make reservations on OpenTable weeks before for a weekend reso! Even though the place can seat 450, it's packed on Saturdays with lineups out the door. So many birthdays are being celebrated. Service is excellent. Food is consistently good.
We went to the Keg for my mom’s birthday and everything was exceptional! We ordered the prime rib and the meat was so soft and juicy. Easily one of their best plates! Our server Sherry was so welcoming and amazing as well. We will definitely be coming back!
We love the Keg and were looking forward to trying a new location. Usually they are super allergy aware — they have often sent a cook out to reassure us. The service was very mediocre— none of the usual introduction by name, punched in the wrong salad, we had to wave servers over for drinks, interrupt their conversation to get the bill etc.
Worst part was that the salmon dish, which is gluten free and which we get often, had chunks of.idk.bread crust in it? Any celiac reading this knows what that would do to them. They replaced the meal and both (?) mangers interrupted us to apologize (and say they had “no idea how that got there” not very reassuring guys!) Not so much as a comped drink.
Seems to be a real issue with seat numbers — servers trying to give us other people’s food, or just walking around with plates looking confused. Manager asked the people beside us if they were “the salmon” when circling by for one of the apologies.
Annnnnyway. The prime rib was stringy and watery which wouldn’t have mattered if the rest wasn’t such an expensive and unfun flop.
We spent last evening at the Keg for our anniversary, My husband loved his hamburger but my prime rib was very fatty, could they ask me if I would like lean or fat? Could i possibly have some veggies with my dish? My daughter had the sirloin and lobster. She wasn't really impressed by either. The best part of our meal was the complimentary ice cream pie. The atmosphere was so dark and gloomy we could hardly find our way out of the washroom and I couldn't read the menu at the table. For 195.00 with the tip we would say it really wasn't worth it.
As always it was a great experience! Server offered me a new type of way to cook my steak and until yesterday I never even knew it was a thing! 10/10 soooo good!
The Keg, the Mecca of steakhouses for those of us who are, let's say, culinarily inclined towards "low-effort, high-taste" dining experiences. Why do I say lazy? Because stepping into any Keg restaurant is like going on a blind date with a trusty, dependable friend – you know they won't let you down, no matter the occasion.
Now, the atmosphere at The Keg is a bit like déjà vu. It's like that cozy feeling of watching reruns of your favorite TV show – you know exactly what you're getting, and you love it. You walk in, and suddenly you feel like the center of attention in a high-class environment. It's like being the star of your own reality show, but in reality, it's just a well-practiced, dependable cookie-cutter facade.
But let's get to the meat of the matter – the food! The steaks at The Keg are like the Tom Hanks of the culinary world – reliable, versatile, and universally loved. Whether you're on a tight budget or willing to splurge, you can bet your taste buds it's going to be damn good.
And let's not forget the veggies; they come out cooked to perfection. Even the pickiest eater will raise a fork in applause.
The Keg's service in Barrie is on par, but it's like your favorite TV show with a slow release schedule. It's the neighbor who smiles in passing but never invites you over for a BBQ. It's like a cozy blanket; it's there to keep you warm, but you wouldn't mind it giving you a comforting hug every so often. If only the servers checked up on you as diligently as your grandmother checking if you're eating enough.
So, when you embark on your culinary journey at The Keg, think of it as a sitcom marathon – you know the characters, you know the punchlines, and it's all so darn comforting. And while the servers might not hover like helicopter grandmas, the food will have you applauding like a theater critic at a Broadway premiere.
