Was pleasantly surprised by this zoo! Amazing assortment of Big Cats. All the animals looked very well cared for. My kids had a great time feeding the Goats. Will definitely go again

Just got back from the killman zoo! My girls had a wonderful time. The woman at the front desk was very kind and went out of her way to chat with the girls and also give them stickers which they loved. One staff member also brought the tortoise out and allowed the girls to spend time with it. Alot of great staff here and the attention to detail with the visitors makes such a huge difference, we will definitely be visiting again.

There are 14 lions and many more animals. They all look very puff and healthy. Special love to Rebecca, she is so cute!
31 August 2023 22:54
Rustic. While they are adding some new pens, some others need a lot of work. Signage also needs attention.
Parking, plan on the side of the road.
27 August 2023 15:18
We are from NJ, was looking for something fun away from the falls. This was such a great time and everyone was so nice. We had a blast feeding the animals.
12 August 2023 1:28
Had a very great experience at killman zoo. Will recommend for families with kids. Good collection of animals. All animals are well taken care of. Friendly staff. Overall great experience!

Recommendation: A signage at every corner from entry to exit would help visitors not skip any area or animals unknowingly.

You think since they've been around for so long and with all the negative comments they would change. But no, they were either sad, bored or passing around their cage. Tiny enclosures and the pond were convered in algae. Just sad.
27 June 2023 15:19
Depressing and cruel. I feel guilty for supporting this place by visiting. Animals in horribly small enclosures not even fit for a house cat. Poor bunnies can't even move in their small hutch, large cats pacing in boredom. They should be shut down.
26 June 2023 17:35
My daughter absolutely loves this place! The staff is super friendly! The animals seem super happy and well taken care of. Lived down the road from here my whole life but recently started taking my daughter here and now wishing I went more as a child! Excellent place!
09 January 2023 2:27
My family and I went to this zoo in August! The animals were well taken care of, clean and had lots of roaming room. They also had lots of structures and enrichment toys! The staff seem to really care about the animals. I would definitely recommend this zoo!
08 December 2022 22:12
Wonderful place! You can see majestic big cats up close. Staff is super kind and friendly. Our favorite zoo:)
08 November 2022 14:02
A great little zoo with an unbelievable assortment of big cats, smaller creatures! Always a very friendly staff ready to give you more information in the animals at this zoo. Each animal has a name and a story behind their journey to Killman zoo, almost all are rescued, giving it a very personalized feel compared to other zoos around. A wonderful experience for children and adults alike!

The most depressing “zoo” I’ve ever been to. Birds in cages so small they can’t fly and so many big cats, all kept separate in small cages. It reminded me of Tiger King. Someone thought it was a good idea to own big cats, they bred them over and over again, and called it a zoo. Everything from the moment we arrived was just sad and long after leaving I still feel upset about the animals being housed like that.
31 October 2022 2:14
A great zoo to get close with the animals and see everything! It is a really big space in comparison to others and can spend a good amount of time walking around. Lots of different animals to look at as well.
28 October 2022 11:55
We had a great Experience all 15 of us we will Definitely come again and again I will put out the word on Facebook and Whatsapp so my friends and extend family can come and have the same experience we had. Your Team Members were very Very helpful in explaining the History and vision of the Killman Zoo.
Thanks again love the Blake's.

Great experience able to see the animals very close, zoo wasn't pack so I was able to stroll through with a stroller without a problem. Had a lot of fun feeding the goats. The animals are mainly sleeping but do move around more than the Toronto zoo. They are cats so they do typically sleep 20 hours whether in a habitat or in the wild. For the price is a great zoo to visit. Was able to walk around and see all the animals in about 2hours. Would recommend better signage to know which way to go and also if there was signs on which animals we could feed the peanut to.

Before visiting this zoo I read reviews to see what I was in for, I saw a lot of reviews stating small enclosures so I was a little sceptical. After visiting I can see that some people didn’t really look closely. A lot of the big cats enclosures have a little doors in the back which open up to a way larger space. Same with the smaller animals, there are pathways for travel and a lot of the enclosures are connected so the animals can roam. I would assume that’s why there’s double wiring outside the enclosures, for the pathways that are clearly visible if you take a moment to look.
I would agree that some enclosures are small, like the coyotes they seems uneasy and the sheep in the back seem like they need more grass but overall it’s a wonderful experience. There’s an empty lot right beside the sheep so for all I know they switch back-and-forth.

Just as you’re entering there’s a sign that warns you of a tiger who hates strollers. DO NOT DISRESPECT THEIR WISHES ON THAT SIGN. When I was visiting there was a family that found it funny to stand in front of this tigers enclosure while is was visibly getting upset and rowdy, people like that should be banned from places like this. It makes me wonder what a person did in the first place for it to act like that. If you see it report it to employees like I did.

Overall it was a wonderful experience and a gorgeous property. The animals here compared to government/Corporation zoos have been to looked a lot better and healthier.
15 October 2022 11:58
Not your typical commercial style zoo. My boys and I had a great time. It was like walking in a forest, trees all around, lots of shade and some water along with bridges to cross over. You have the option to purchase food upon entry for some animals. Was a little pricey but happy to support a local zoo.

Killman zoo is a nice find near Hamilton. The important point that makes it different from other zoos is that this place is only to see animals. There is not much to do except for that. But if you're an animal lover, you'll get plenty of time and options to get to know your animals from pretty close. They have some rare animals like the white lion and cavy, which I didn't find in other places I visited.

Note: updating this review and my rating after visiting the Toronto Zoo. If you're an animal lover, this is truly a good place to visit at least once.

The only thing I didn't like is the double-layer of nets that sometime make it hard to see the animals. I am not sure if this can be done in a better way without sacrificing safety, but may be changing that would make my visit perfect!
01 October 2022 11:55
We went with group of 15. Kids and Adults had lots of fun. Nice walkway. The animals looked healthy. The staff were so nice. It was super clean. All and all the best zoo experience I have ever had. It was amazing
12 September 2022 3:28
My 3 year old really enjoyed it! We have been to a few zoo's and this one was his favorite. The animals were up and active, they had many staff around that did what they could to make the experience even better (like bringing out the turtle for him to pet). Suggestion for the zoo it's self, put a small play ground on the vacant grass lot by the house & birds, that would have made this a 5 star experience for sure:)
05 September 2022 19:56
No photos to share since I don't have access to them, however, this place is a must visit if you like cats. Big cats. You'll have a new appreciation for these creatures as soon as you hear them roaring after you exit your vehicle. Amazing experience and will update with photos once I get access. It does get busy on weekends but it's worth the visit.
26 August 2022 7:20
From the front gate, the lion enclosure looks decently sized but the further you go back, the smaller the cages become and the more frustrated the animals seem. Large cats meant for jumping and running are barred in by cages barely big enough for them to get a good stretch in.

Animals pacing around and laying out in the hot sun with merely any shade or space.
06 August 2022 13:51
This is a great small zoo. The variety of animals isn't huge, but you can see them pretty close up which is cool. They have a section where you can feed some animals (goats, sheep, emus, deer). Pathways are a bit tight in places - we had 2 strollers - and the strollers kind if stress the animals out so I wouldn't bring one on any future visits.
02 August 2022 19:15
Small zoo, there are many predators.you can get very close to the animals and you can feed them.the cage with the talking parrot made us very happy.great experience with animals but would like more species.the parking area is small.the staff is well aware of the habits of animals.
26 July 2022 14:14
I had my cousins birthday there and let me tell you it was a amazing experience. We got there early so me and my cousin got fruit instead of peanuts wich already made me feel more welcome. The animals looked so healthy.the staff were so nice. It was super clean. All and all the best zoo experience I have ever had if I was able to I would give this place a 100/5 stars it was amazing.
21 January 2022 15:51
Have gone there many times since I was a child. Here is a picture of me and the tiger cub called Storm I met when I was 3 or 4. Second picture of him some time later, the picture I took in my second last year of junior high. Very nice zoo, hope to visit there once more next year before I go off to university
26 December 2021 17:44
Employees were all super friendly and Knowledgable. We had a great time and also it is stroller friendly)
08 December 2021 12:21
Not impressed with the lack of care to state that they are closed on their website.drove 2 hours because it said open, got there and they closed due to weather.it's 15° and sunny partly cloudy.
05 December 2021 20:00
We don’t go here very often, but when we do I am always amazed at how much better it has gotten since the last one I went. They keep adding areas, and expanding. Love this place it is definitely worth the half a day to walk around and experience the animals.
11 November 2021 7:29
Was sad to see how small the cages are for the cats. I don't agree with the conditions these animals live in day in and day out. Sad to see them pacing back and forth. I think the only enclosure I saw that was adequate was for the ferrets.won't be teaching my children that these places are ok.change needs to happen for these poor animals who are only caged for the amusement of humans.
29 October 2021 10:37
First visit for my family. Very friendly staff! Nowhere to really sit down but understandable due to the pandemic. The animals look healthy but bored. Lots of lions!
26 October 2021 9:30
Small zoo, we did it twice in 2 hours. Yet, you will never get to see animals that close, specially tigers and lions. Completely in nature and shadowy, kids had so much fun. Staff were very friendly and explained to kids with a smile. We can argue of course about the space that those animals have, but it is a zoo not a safari. PS: Take your own food, the cantine is closed:)
21 October 2021 18:11
Had a great time here today with a couple of friends, everyone was extremely helpful and kind, and the animals look to be in good hands. I definitely recommend stopping in to relax for a while! So peaceful here!
18 October 2021 18:56
Was my first time at killman zoo, if you like big cats, it is definitely the place to go! We walked through twice, the staff were super friendly and answered all questions we had, 10/10 would love to go back, i just wish i could pet the tigers and lions ;)
12 October 2021 14:58
It's good but these wild animals are kept really close to humans although well caged. It was kinda scary. It takes about 2 hours to cover the entire zoo
10 October 2021 12:18
This was a refreshing experience. Tucked away in nature, my son enjoyed the experience and so did I. If you haven't been, I don't think you'll be disappointed!
08 October 2021 12:20
The zoo is in a nice location and a small one that is not too crowded, which is great. However, personally I feel it could be maintained better. This was my first time visiting, so not sure if Covid played any role in how it is being maintained. The animals do have very small enclosures.
04 October 2021 0:44
Friendly and effective staff. Great prices for admission and a wonderful way to treat the family or loved ones. Going back soon.
22 September 2021 23:28
Don't you think those cats cages are too small? I checked your photos and I think that's ridiculous and pretty sad to look at those beautiful animals whose must spend all their life in prison.
19 September 2021 15:56
An amazing zoo. I didn't realize how big it is and the amount of animals they have. My kids absolutely loved! The staff are all super friendly. Big big thank you to Ginnie, who so patiently answered all of my kid's questions. What a great place to spend a few hours!
19 September 2021 0:02
The zoo is a must visit. They have lots of beautiful cats, with over 14 lions. You get to enjoy a personable close up look with all the animals.

The zoo is built in a forest so there is lots of shade and beautiful nice scenes. It is about 1-1.5 hour walk, we walked it twice.

Very nice experience for the price.
18 September 2021 10:48
Love it, the staff was very helpful, always explaining everything about the animals, it was a great experience
14 September 2021 6:42
Lots of big cats and lemmurs! The animals are cared for very well. All of the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. The property is a little run down. The zoo is in need of repairs to many of the enclosures and buildings. There are also many areas that need to be cleaned up of branches, brush, leaves. The kids had a really great time. The place just needs some TLC. I still recommend going. They are privately funded and receive no assistance other than donations and park fees.
10 September 2021 17:40
It was good to see animals, lots of lions, it poured on us half way through but the one girl on way out offered a stamp to come back by end of day if it gets sunny. Very friendly staff
09 September 2021 2:30
You can get so close to the animals! It was amazing to see dandelion the lion playing in the open area with her giant water bottle. Staff was very friendly. My kids and I had a lovely day walking around.
04 September 2021 4:54
Awesome Zoo; well run. Where else can you be so close to such great animals. The workers have alot of knowledge and really care about the animals.
03 September 2021 2:58
Amazing zoo with lots too see.the roars of the big cats were thrilling.not alot of walking and the area was fairly comfortable under all the trees.worth the trip and the cost is very reasonable.
01 September 2021 18:45
We had an amazing time with our Granddaughter. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return again.
26 August 2021 21:51
Horrible place and the animal were in small disgusting cages.the animals were in very bad conditions.this visit made me sad and disappointed in humanity
28 April 2020 9:15
This is a great spot to go on a afternoon off! The staff here are great as are the owners. The range of animals are impressive and they seem quite happy! The lions are my favorite and you get to see them up close which is why I enjoy coming here. If you go on a sunday they do feedings and it's quite something to watch.
10 March 2020 6:08
Is it just me that it seems so inhumane to have such wild life in cages for our pleasure to look at!? !? !

I mean we are talking about wild animals here that BELONG in the wild. Not caged up held hostage.

I dont agree with zoos I personally will never visit a zoo

I say free them and let them go back to the habitat where they belong

Ps do they really look happy to be caged to you?

Makes me sick really
13 February 2020 0:39
Theres a ton of beautiful and exotic animals from the smallest birds to the biggest king of the jungle
13 December 2019 21:44
We had a great time, easy to walk around, kids enjoyed feeding the goats and deers. Certainly will be back again.
06 December 2019 15:39
Great place for parents and kids. My 23 month old son loved it here. It's small enough to see everything, but large enough with a lot of animals. They all look like they are well cared for and the staff are very friendly to visitors and animals alike. You can get really close to a lot of the animals. Very great first time experience here. We will be back again many more times! Thanks!
01 November 2019 12:54
Loved it. Great experience. Staff was very knowledgeable and through further conversation finding out future plans for the animals and where they get to run outside of their 'homes' was great. Great interactions. Will go again.
30 October 2019 16:11
Love this place. Mr killman was good friend of my grandfather. Sorry for the loss of Gina bear. Will be back again to bring new folks
25 October 2019 21:15
We loved to see all of the animals up close, my hole family loved seeing all the healthy and scary animals to me it was AMAZING
21 October 2019 16:25
Great little Zoo! They have many large cats and you can get really close to them. Very affordable and you can get in and out in a couple hours.
20 October 2019 3:48
A decent amount of animals that look mostly cared for but the place is really run down looking. It needs an update and some maintenance.
20 October 2019 0:25
Quite a little surprise out in the country. Great place for a birthday party. Staff is very accommodating and friendly. Our group enjoyed a guided tour, watched the big cats and lemurs being fed, and then had a pizza party in the picnic area.
16 October 2019 3:41
So much fun. The big cats are so close to you, and the staff are super friendly. And here's a tip, every sunday at 3 they do a live feeding for all of their big cats. We went on a Saturday, unfortunately, but best believe I WILL go on a sunday. That would be so fun to see!
11 October 2019 0:59
A lot of "big cats" but you can walk through the entire place in less than 30 minutes. And that's with 3 children in tow
02 October 2019 3:56
Pretty cool spot, actually it was more relaxing that "exciting" but for me that was a positive.
Ya sure you definitely feel a bit bad for the animals, but from what I understand many are rescued or injured so I took it for what it was and had a good time.
30 September 2019 22:58
Awesome place. Great experience. You are so close to the animals. The Lions roar and it's almost like you're in the wild. You can feed certain animals (they give a list of one's you can) and they have several types of animals such as tigers, Lions, cougars, Jaguars, monkeys etc.
28 September 2019 14:31
Very beautiful place to visit on a sunny weekend kids will definitely enjoy it, a very welcoming staff and reasonable entry fees for adults and children, free parking, location is not far from the main highway 6 north and very close to caledonia, the place is verey clean, the staff work hard to care about animals, children can buy peanut at the entrance and enjoy feeding some animals who are not allergic to it.there is also a facility to wash hands with soap and water, portable toilet are available, the place is accessible for wheelchairs and elderly people, I have visited this Zoo more than four times with my children and I recommend it for everyone to visit and enjoy.
09 September 2019 19:18
Love this little zoo. You are able to get so close and it's a good size to walk around even with young ones.
06 September 2019 6:51
Loved the interaction with the staff and how much they care for the big cats. Amazing experience being that close to the the animals. But some of the smaller cats seemed squished in too small of cages and one was miserable and couldnt get away from the flys biting him.
