The food wasbdelicious, the croissant donuts are out of this world, and the staff was just wonderful.

The renovation is fantastic; super bright inside, lots of seating but doesn’t feel cramped.

Food is delicious, serving size is huge, eggs are always cooked to perfection, be a glutton and order a corn dog on the side.

Good portion Food, fried chicken bitter outside, gravy not good, pair with sweet plum source make it tastes a bit better. Soggy fries. Service way too slow.

Best place in Ontario! Went there for the breakfast and the staff was super friendly! Service was quick and food was just delicious. The ambience is cool and vibrant. This place has a whole different vibe.

The food was great, everyone loved what they ordered. However, when the time came to pay the bill, the waitress took advantage of having foreign customers at the table and informed everyone that she had already chosen the tip amount. This was insulting and unprofessional. Customers are not responsible for providing a living wage for employees. The incident happened on September 2nd, 2023, at around 10 pm. We were sitting outside at the corner of the patio.

Following a prompt recommendation by my son, my party and I decided to dine at King Eddy in the bustling ByWard Market. Our initial impression was favorable as we were promptly seated upon arrival. However, our experience took a discouraging turn from thereon.

An appreciable 15 minutes elapsed before our waiter took our orders (mind you we where sitting at the bar), initiating an extended period of waiting. Regrettably, our wait extended to a substantial 37 minutes, during which we neither received any check-ins nor had our beverages been replenished. At this juncture, I took the initiative to inquire about the status of our meal, to which the waiter responded with a vague assurance that our food would be ready in approximately 5 minutes.

Expressing our time constraints, I informed him that we had another commitment to attend and requested that we settle our bill for the drinks and depart. Curiously, the waiter then altered his narrative, asserting that our meal was currently being plated and would be served momentarily. Despite our reservations about the delay, we acquiesced to this arrangement.

Subsequently, the waiter excused himself to investigate further, prompting me to seek out a manager. After a brief interlude, I had the opportunity to converse with the manager, during which I conveyed our protracted wait. To my surprise, she displayed a lack of concern and simply stated, "We are quite busy, " before pledging to check on our order.

Upon her return, our waiter conveyed that our meal was being prepared for takeaway and would be ready within three minutes. However, even this modest promise was not upheld, leaving us with prolonged anticipation. The manager returned once more, and I reiterated our substantial wait, now exacerbated by the additional delay in boxing our food.

Ultimately, our food was provided for takeout, which further exacerbated our lateness for our subsequent commitment. I underscored to the manager that our grievance was not primarily about the extended preparation time but rather the conspicuous absence of communication regarding the delay, as well as the unsatisfactory aftermath of the ordeal.

Regrettably, our disheartening experience did not conclude on a positive note, as we discovered that not all components of our order had been included. In light of the exasperating wait and the less-than-satisfactory service, I find it difficult to justify the $68 expenditure for a meal comprising two pancakes, a grilled cheese sandwich, eggs, and chicken strips with fries. Adding to our dismay, two other couples, who arrived subsequent to our party, received their meals with remarkable expediency, with one couple completing their entire dining experience before our departure.

Casual environment, simple menu, great food. Service was fast and friendly. Waitress was very nice. Salads and beer were great! Would definitely go back!

The issues I encountered were Late arrival of our food about 40 minutes and not at the same time for 4 of us and restaurant’s interior that was uncomfortably warm because all doors had been kept open making it difficult to enjoy our meal.when we politely inquired about the delay in our food, the owner’s response was shockingly rude leaving us feeling disrespected. In conclusion, the combination of late service, a hot and uncomfortable atmosphere and disrespectful owner of King Eddy restaurant, made this dinning experience far from enjoyable.

The food and service here are exceptional! The brunch menu is outstanding - we had the portobello Benny and the Eddy Patty melt and everything was so delicious and fresh! Our servers, Alex and Alexa M, were truly wonderful and deserve to be recognized!

The food was great, service even better! There chicken is amazing. WoW. The price is as expected these days. Somewhat pricey. Our server was top of the line, very helpful, professional and treated us like vipz. Washroom was not very clean (that's why the 4 stars) Very nice outdoor patio. Portions where generous. Over all, I definitely recommend The King Eddy to locals and visitors alike. Very good experience. If your by the ByWard market. I say just do it. Lol

Im sorry, i am still a week later shaken by how awful the manager and supposed owner of the king eddy treated our server.the old lady with glasses yelled at her while she was bringing our bill and screamed DONT WALK AWAY FROM ME.our server then turned around to answer her politly and she yelled again I CANT HEAR YOU.this old lady made such a scene all of the tables around us were talking about it and apologizing to the server who was doing an INCREDIBLE job, especially under the stressful cirumstnces. NO employee should be treated that way and i hope that server talks to the harassment board.this is not the first time i have seen this here but it will be the last.i will NEVER eat here again and i will be advising everyone else not to either.

Food was delicious and service was great! Tried the King Eddy burger with sweet potato fries and thoroughly enjoyed it. The people who work there were courteous and friendly. It enjoys a great location as it is in the Byward Market itself, really close to several attractions like the National Art Gallery.

The food was really tasty and gave a good portion. However we needed to ask several times for silverware and food took a bit long. All in all the staff was friendly and it was a good atmosphere!

Amazing experience here. Despite it being crazy busy in Byward market, and the fact that it was rush hour, this team of servers and other staff were amazing. We felt so welcomed, we even had great conversation with the hostess while waiting for a table, and again when being served. The food was delicious too.

Best retro-diner in the Byward with loads of patio space. I challenge anyone to finish the ‘Fried Eggs on Chilli’ in one sitting!

After a long day walking around Ottawa, we really just wanted any food. I wasn't expecting much from a burger place with greasy menus but I was pleasantly surprised by our dishes and the quality of ingredients. We had a couple shakes, chili and chicken strips. Chicken was fresh and crispy and chili was obviously made fresh that day. Definitely not what you'd get in a typical fast food joint. Service was also great! Overall, I'd definitely recommend!

Unbelievably delicious food, I would highly recommend this spot for any burger lover! Their garden salad is also amazing!

My favorite place, we are there every week, awesome food, service, and staff We were there again today biking and had my favorite salade and beer of course!

Got the NFC family meal tonight and it was delicious. The chicken with hot and crispy and the fries and gravy were fantastic. The hot honey and barbecue sauce were a perfect complement. Also, the coleslaw was amazing. Definitely a do again.

Bad customer service I ordered take out and they didn't want me to sit at the table while nobody was sitting there if there was a -1 start I would give them.the burgers aren't even that good a big mac from McDonald's taste the same or even better then the burgers at this restaurant, the poutine was not good, the gravy was bad they didn't put enough cheese, I would recommend you to go spend your money at McDonald's instead of this place.

Horrible customer service, the servers doesn't have coordination and don't know what's happening inside and outside the restaurant. The servers and cooks inside was very rude. Never gonna eat there again.

Tried this place for the first time today (15 June 2021). Fries are a touch overdone. Not horribly except for some at the very bottom. Works better with poutine but on their own they should be lighter. The milkshake was far thicker than it looked which was great. I'm glad for that. The KE burger is pretty good: not exceptional in a standout way in my own opinion but a perfectly acceptable burger all the same. It certainly ranks better than several others that come to mind. Cheesecake is brilliant but ruined by the strawberry coulis, which looks more like a pureè and tastes somewhat bitter. Conclusion: good first impression. I would consider trying it again.

King Eddy is my go-to breakfast spot in the Byward Market. I love that they have the classic all day breakfast and their breakfast potatoes are my favourite! Ive had great service with every visit too! Also of note, they have a large well-spaced patio!

Horrible is all I can say. Hopefully it was an off day for the chef/cook. Three pieces of chicken times two came to $23.98. Chicken was horrible and would not come off the bone. Accompaning french fries were soggy and for two people came to $9.99. Two 4 oz of coleslaw $7.98 and two portion cups of gravy $5.00.
A bit costly and worse so because of poor quality.
A third order at same time for chicken strippers was not really edible.

Problem is consistency. Bought their fried chicken the first time. LOVED IT. Bought it the next night, very disappointed. Had their salad once, very good. Large portions. Service was excellent.

You might make more money if staff actually paid attention to the takeout window and took orders instead of sitting at a table playing on their phone.
