Bonus! Found someone who was able to recover my grandmother’s lampshade. Looks fine! Store is very crowded with stock, be careful walking in. No wonder an appointment is needed.

I brought in an antique chandelier and it was rewired in the promised timeline. I was able to buy other required parts onsite. Really happy with this business.

I'm looking to buy parts but there is no way to contact the company. They have no phone number and I have just spent the last 20 min scouring the website looking for an email to contact them. Is this some kind of joke? I will end buying parts from Grand Brass in the USA. It's just bizarre a company operates like this in 2023. I mean common get it together.

I had an antique crystal table lamp which fell down and 2 of the arms broke. I searched online and from the website I thought I'm going to a professional guy to fix it. We drove 1 hour to Cambridge and trusted this guy to fix our lamp.
After picking up the lamp he gave us a totally different shape arm. Even the size doesn't match and instead of telling us he couldn't fix and find the arm he put whatever he found and replaced it with the broken ones, even the sleeves that he gave us won't fit the armst. We also noticed some other part of the lamp is broken too which was not when we gave him the lamp. He has put 2 crystal arms that even the sleeves that he gave us won't fit.

I have tried to contact him several times but he won't reply and ignores all of my emails.

Disappointing. Does not take phone calls or reply to emails. I drove a couple of hours for appointment at store to discover prism replacement was wrong size and no supply. When there discussed slight problem with chandelier. Owner requested I send email with pictures so he could look at it. No response after email and follow-ups. Poor customer service.

I rate my experience with the Lighting Guy Ontario as excellent. He repaired 4 wall light fixtures for me quickly and recommended bulbs that will save energy. Will definitely visit again!

The work completed was exactly what was asked for and done sooner then originally specified.

I had been searching for months to find a new shade for my banker lamp and had tried multiple stores and online but couldn’t locate the right size and colour. Then I got referred to tlg and met with David he had exactly what I needed and was even able to install it why I waited which was great as I am from out of town. Thank you David

Did not make any effort or seem interested in our project. We know it was an inexpensive lamp, and we wanted different shades for it. He said quickly he would get someone else do it and he was the only place in southern Ontario who would do lamp shades. The prices were very expensive. Not worth our time to book the appointment and drive there. Extremely disappointing.

Professional and knows his stuff. My mother's 60 year old chandelier looks as good as the day my dad hung it up and was completed quicker than his estimated time. Will recommend his services

The Lighting Guy did a great job resurrecting my 100-year-old oil lamp, converted to electric. It looks fantastic.

He fixes things that others won't even attempt, does a good job, is careful and thorough and very nice as well

Not cheap, but fair pricing, and the best I could find anywhere near the GTA. Had to replace a pretty unique shade, and couldn't find it anywhere, so rebuilding was the only option. Timely, professional service, and the final price was pretty close to the estimate. I wouldn't hesitate to use his services again.

I found an unusual brass lamp which I managed to break at the lower pivot point. I had a difficult time finding anyone to fix it. The fix ended up being a replacement pivot, which nobody previous to this had suggested. Dave treated the new brass to match the patina, well done! The lamp had to be rewired too. All is well!

Recently took assorted lamps to The Lighting Guy and received wonderful, knowledgeable service. Really good experience.

David was a nice guy & very busy. Make sure to follow up with him because he is a one man show. I made a deposit on the order that I requested him to order in July 28,2022. He gave me an approximate timeline of 10-15d arrival. He didn't send me any update on the status of my order. I followed up through e-mail; 20d after. He message me that the order was delayed due to delivery difficulty brought by the logistic disruptions by the pandemic & gave me an arrival date of Oct. 15. Followed up on Oct. 19 to find out that he hasn't even ordered the part. I almost walk out of the deal but gave David another chance. I received my order in a very short time after. Good work David!

Amazing place.it has everything you could possibly want and if the Lighting Guy does not have it he can order it in within a reasonable length of time. Although I did not purchase anything at this visit. I do plan on a future purchase now that I know what he has available. Very knowledgeable and helpful person.

Little store well stock with new and one of a kind vintage light fixtures. Excellent quality repair serve. A real downtown treasure!

Fixed my deceased grandmother's lamp at a reasonable price and in a reasonable time frame. So grateful as it's something that I really associate with her! Now it's in good working condition and my daughter's already spoken for it, so in addition to avoiding landfill, it'll light on for at least another generation! Thank you!

I highly recommend this store. David was professional, friendly and very knowledgeable. He offered excellent advice and service. My two hobnail nightstand lights are good as new and safe. My antique teak lamp and floor Tiffany lamp are perfect. David solved all my issues. I will definitely come back for all my lamp needs.

I purchased a set of vintage lamps not realizing that current lightbulbs simply would not fit into the harp. I also was unsure how good the wiring might be on them so took them to TLG to have a look. He immediately had the right harps available so that problem was easily solved. I appreciated that he was up front in noting that the sockets, etc.still appeared to be OK but I wanted to be sure there would be no future issues and left the bases for rewiring, Turnaround was quick and now I have a beautiful set of Chinoiserie lamps that are completely functional. Bonus - he had a couple of unique finials on hand that look perfect with the style of lamp. Would 100% recommend TLG.

The place is extremely expensive & the owner is very, very arrogant. He justifies his demanding of higher prices on who is governing Canada.
For a job which should not be priced more than $20/- he demanded $85/- and he put the whole blame of demanding this high price on Trudeau being PM of Canada.
Very bad & negative way of conducting business.

Good workmanship, uses quality parts, needs attention to details and maybe your patience. My lamp shade was the wrong size for a mogul, still waiting for resolution; but just received the mistaken payment refund that I requested since December, but I received it at least. Price was $100 less than another quote I got from a shop in Toronto. However, I would appreciate my lampshade issue being responded to (also since December).

Positive reviews and specific products and services looked great. However, trying to deal with them is an exercise in frustration. Responses are cryptic, or non-existant. Their website warns of the cost/hassle of ordering from US suppliers, but this is worse.

I have a 33 year old brass chandelier that was in rough shape. I was sadly prepared to junk it when my father sent me a link to The Lighting Guy and suggested I check it out. I drove in from Hamilton and left the chandelier with Dave. He did a fantastic job including a complete rewiring and cleaning and my chandelier was like new again. He even replaced the fake brass chain with a new one that was real brass. Dave is a true craftsman and an absolute expert when it comes to lighting.

I am very pleased with the Lighting Guy who quickly repaired my Globe Led lamp with no problem, a very good job now I can use my lamp thanks to the Lightening Guy.

Great to deal with. Got a Tiffany shade fixed that was damaged while moving. Not cheap but quality work never is!

I had a beutiful art deco figurine lamp whose globe shade was smashed and I searched in vain for a replacement.
I found the Lighting Guy and was he ever helpful

I wasn't in the store for more than a few minutes before he found me the perfect shade that fit perfectly.
I thought my lady was destined o spend the rest of her life in a closet but he saved her.
Very impressed with his knowledge.

Is anyone else having contact/service issues with this vendor? Placed an order for a light shade for our lamp and paid a deposit Feb 25,2021. We knew there would be a delay because of covid supplychain issues. We were to be kept posted. The last time we heard from them after repeated email attempts and no response was June 24,2021 saying it was on backorder until end of August 2021. To date even after additional email attempts we have received no updates or reponses from our emails. Are they still in business?

Ordered four new globes for our bathroom sconce. David bought my existing globes. Unfortunately the globes were caught in the supply chain which is understandable. The globes we received were adequate but not of the quality of the ones that we traded in. In David’s defence he did say in his email that we might not like the new ones.
