The Loaf N’ Ale Pub & Restaurant

First time here!
The meals we got were Shepard pie and beef stew chicken wrap and chicken strips.
All were great and tasty. I found the prices were just a tich high for the serving size.
But we ventured out to try something new. Service was wonderful too.

This was a great little place to eat. My burger was really good and my buddy's combo plate was just the right amount of food!

I want to thank you guys for allowing me to find my new favourite restaurant Santorini. The last 3 times we went it was mistake after mistake. First time they tried to charge us for a beer we don’t drink. The 2nd time we ordered the fry supreme to be served regular fries. The third time we were brought bruschetta when we ordered 2 entrees. The Guinness loaded loaded and the baked Portobello. We Even didn’t mind that. However, today when we walked In we were ignored for 20 minutes. Even though there was a sign “please seat yourself”. We are done. We were celebrating tonight. We went to Santorini’s and they picked up your slack. So thank you for showing us why we shouldn’t support a business solely for being local.

Service was slow at 8pm on a Tuesday. Chicken Parm with tough chicken and under cooked pasta, ordered a spinach salad and recieved a Greek salad! Not a good experience at all.

Best part of this place is errything! The servers are professional and courteous! Know the beers, and beverages.
Food is also fantastic! I have never had a more delightful experience! The washrooms are 5 star clean! Tables are always clean and ambiance is spot on for a Pub!

Best sweet potato fries. They have a gluten-free menu and burgers were delicious. Waitress was friendly and service was terrific. Must take note to come by again when driving across 401.

Went for lunch with my sister Thursday. Food, service and atmosphere was all great and they had the games on. A wonderful pub I will visit again.

On Saturday, November 5, around 4p.m, we visited this Pub, we were never acknowledged the 10 minutes or more we sat there, even though the waitress and the girl behind the bar saw us come in. We decided to leave once the waitress approached another couple who walked in and were given the menu right away.
We were very disappointed since we read good reviews, and insulted as well for the ignorance of the servers.
Hard to think this wasn’t personal since the waitress made eye contact and still never approached us to say something while we sat and waited, or when we started to leave.
Would help to know if this has happened before to anyone

Great food and service plus live entertainment! You will not be disappointed and fish and chips was huge portion and very tasty! Pizza is also very nice!

A British pub - what's not to like. The Loaf and Ale. Unfortunately, loafing describes the service, but there's more that ails this place. But first my sad story:
We (a party of five), arrived at 1: 30. After 20-30 minutes, a server came to take our order, apologising for being late. Two other tables came in about that time. After 40 minutes our drinks arrived. Well two of our drinks arrived three were the wrong drinks. Our server apologized. Another 10 minutes and the remaining drinks arrived with more apologies. Shortly after, the other two tables received their food. At 2: 50, having not received any updates (or suggestions on how to kill the time), I asked for an update.
"I have checked with the kitchen it'll just be a minute or two - sorry"
After 10 minutes I paid for a drinks to a flurry of apologies, although she screwed up the bill and had to redo this a time or two.
We left at 3: 00 p.m.
So unfortunately I cannot review any of the food. Who knows, other people were eating, so you may be lucky. I do not have much to review. We were ignored and received apologies - how appropriate as this is a sorry place.
There are many places in Nappanee that actually serve food, I would recommend one of them.

So in summary: great parking, a nice location, avoid at all costs.

Very nice server, but the food was not what I expected. Ordered two servings of penne alla vodka, both tasted overpoweringly like vodka, to the point where i couldn't finish the dish. Each bite was like taking a shot.

Visiting downtown Napanee we spotted The Loaf N' Ale's beautiful outdoor patio and decided to stop for lunch. Starting off with the Nacho's the flavour were fantastic with their bruschetta mix toppings. For lunch, I wanted to try the bacon and blue cheese loafer, and what an explosive flavour it had, along with a juicy well cooked beef patty! I also noticed live entertainment happens on the weekends. So we will definitely come back again to enjoy! The menu has so many delicious options to choose from no matter what time of day. Highly recommend!

Good food, good drinks, great servers who try their best with the support they are given. This place is constantly understaffed with 1 server tending bar and 8+ tables alone.

Pretty good! Nice atmosphere upon pickup, great poutine! The vegetarian quesadilla had great ingredients, but could have been cooked longer and a bit more cheese, it was a bit floppy and wet, but tasty. Everything else looked deliscious! Server was friendly!

So my workplace orders from a new restaurant every week and today we ordered loaf and ale and we were so impressed. BEST restaurant so far. Highly recommended. We will definitely be ordering again!

Nice English pub with amazing food. I tried the Guinness BBQ and it's incredible. The fries are also very, very good. Well done folks! I'm really looking forward to go back to Nappanee just to try this place again.

The food was ok, I wasn't happy with my meal it was bland, our server was not friendly at all. It's like everyone was disturbing her

We had the roast beef dinner and all 4 of us loved it. Lots of roast beef veggies, potatoes and the gravy was the best. The price was very reasonable. Also we have enough for another meal. We will be back.

Decent food, clean, staff attentive, would go again
Bruschetta is really good, their red pepper soup of the day was a bit flavourless. Their club was good. The salad had a bunch of wilted brown lettuce but I've noticed that at nearly every restaurant I've been to lately. Think it's a covid thing, maybe lettuce is in short supply.

NOT FOR BREAKFAST. Went for what we thought was pub breakfast. Sausage was freezer burnt and beans were cold, coffee was HORRIBLE. The waitstaff brought coffee out with no milk/cream or sugar then after 5 min hand carried them to put on the table. Asked for hot sauce and was told it was additional charge because it's not something they normally offer. Save your time and money. Don't go here for breakfast.

Service was great. The waitress was friendly and did a great job running the pub.

The food needs some work. The ingredients in the kitchen are not fresh. I ordered a pizza. It was frozen pizza dough with pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms covered by a thick layer of mozzarella cheese. This made the pepperoni, bacon and mushrooms cold as the oven didn't cook through the pizza. There is a lot of opportunity to improve their pizza. Fresh dough and Crispin the main ingredients would be a good start.

Turkey sandwich was also mediocre. If fresh ingredients were used and better methods of cooking the meats were improved (more seasoning, brine the turkey), the food could be much better.

5 star service, 1.5 star food.

An overall good experience with friendly servers. The food is delicious and there is even live entertainment sometimes. The only thing for me that's missing is a poll table.

Where to start.
Ordered steak medium, it came well done.
The mixed vegetables with it are all raw. And the sweet potato fries are stone cold.
Not impressed.won't be back.

Have tried this place a few times and want to give them the benefit of the doubt each time we come back, but it just keeps getting worse. We live nearby and want to support locally, but won’t be doing it here. In the most recent case, it took almost 30 minutes to have someone come over and take a drink order from us and an hour and 15 minutes for food to be on the table (bear in mind this is around 8 on a Thursday night, not the craziest time). When my food arrived it was incorrect, however the waitress assured me it was fine. I asked again when she came by if she was sure, so she double checked with the kitchen. It was incorrect. Waited another 10 minutes for my proper meal to come out (mind you they loaded up my fries which I appreciated). Waitress did not come over and check to see if everything was ok after that. I had to ask twice to get a refill on water but still didn’t get one. Only reason for two stars is because the waitress Mel was very nice and helpful when our waitress was too busy, and because although it took forever, the food was good.

1) Blatant Fraud - Slide on Digital Video Sign visibly on display in restaurant clearly states "Get your dinner free on your birthday when you dine with at least one other person. When server took order (for 4) and I presented my ID indicating my birthday she advised that was actually not the case - that I could order a free appetizer or dessert (which I did not need or want) up to $15.00 I pointed out the sign, we read it together and she agreed that what she was telling me was not what the sign advertised, but completely balked at the suggestion that they actually honour what was advertised. The best I got was a shoulder shrug and a "whatcha gonna do? " half giggle. Ended up ordering nachos nobody needed or really wanted just to not get completely took. In retrospect we should have just picked up and left at that point.

2) Blatant incompetence - Out of 4 orders 3 of them were delivered wrong in some capacity - One salad with no dressing, one side of mayo I was charged for and never did get, and one dish with a side of onion rings instead of fries. When we called the server over to straighten things out, she had the gall to challenge us, saying "No-you ordered the onion rings. I remember. " When it was asserted again that the order was indeed for fries, she (snottily) offered to get some fries on, but by then we said we would just take the rings. Server took this opportune moment to remind us that the rings were AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE over the fries! No, young lady. Just No.

Rating is for 2 stars instead of 1 as the food was reasonably prepared and was served hot, but overall mediocre at best. Similar to what you could expect at any number of the soulless franchises usually found around movie theatres.

As the coup de gras, it took us an extra 15 minutes to pay the bill and leave because we had to track don and wait for the server to credit the birthday nachos she hadn't taken off the bill.

Bottom line - Worst birthday dinner ever and the last time I'll ever see the inside of that place again.

The lunch menu is good. They have good pub food. Good selection of draft beer.

Service was a bit slow both waiting to get seated, overall and also ordering a second drink which they forgot and we had to order again

I just has 3 wonderful tacos at the Loaf N' Ale, and a beer. Excellent onion rings! I met my Deadline.:) Service was great!

Delicious food. Had not visited in years. We wanted to support local. My husband forgot his wallet when picking up takeout and they let him bring our order home and call in our credit card number when he got home! Friendly phone service, too.

Loved loved the Food everything tasted homemade and delicious. Service was excellent and friendly! Even had a live band. We had an great experience. Highly recommend

The food was not good at all. I got the chicken alfredo, my dad got the roast beef and my mum got the stir fry; it all tasted and looked like it was old, bagged and thrown into the microwave for five minutes. The chicken was dry, the sauce was bland, the cheese on top wasn't even melted, the rice in the stir fry was hard, and the roast beef was an overcooked, stale mess.

The sweet potato fries were good though, but then again, you can't exactly mess up fries. In terms of price, it was over a hundred for three people which is just revolting for the quality. Overall, I'd rather buy a frozen, pre-packaged meal from Metro, leave it out in the sun for a few weeks, and serve it up on a bed of grass; it'd probably taste better if I had to be honest.

From reading the reviews, I'd say stick to the basic bar foods like the wings and soups.

The service was nice (pretty slow though considering there was only three people in the place), and the alcohol was alcohol. Can't expect much from a canned Smirnoff Ice.

This is the only time I've ever been compelled to write a review about a restaurant. So disappointing.

Poutine was great, got take out. Would have been wonderful if they'd given us cutlery though. Lost a star for that and for the rudeness of the staff in how my husband was treated when he came to pick up the order. Lost one more for that. Again food is great

We got 3 things, the steak and Guinness stew was amazing. But the fettuccine pasta was so horrendous that I had to throw it out, the sauce tasted quite off/rotten. We also got rancid caesar salad dressing for our side salad. Really disappointed

I live in Toronto and my folks live in Ottawa so we like meeting halfway for a bite and a round of golf. This time we picked the Loaf and Ale.

So I call ahead and made a reservation since we have a tee-off time.

The day comes and we get there only to be told we won't be served because we're from out of town! I get it, covid policy, that's fine, but why didn't you ask me when I made the reservation a week ago?

Here we are now, I've driven 2 hrs, my folks have driven 3hrs, we have a tee-off time in 90 minutes and we're left scrambling to find a place during the lunch rush.

Then we see their ad on the golf carts too, hilarious.

Not a bad place to eat. The pub food is great and the drinks are good. Only thing the decor is mostly dark or black. For the eyes it lacks appeal. The staff is well trained but seem to not last long as this place is always busy. Overall would give it a medium rating for the food.you have to try it at least once

Three times I gave this pub a try. Services is slow, staff look unorganized & or short. The menu is a typical pub menu however the food is quite good, the waiting part isn't.

I had the Stir fry with honey garlic seasoning and it was simply delicious. We were with a group of 16, adults and children - our server was very pleasant and professional. All meals were delivered at the same time. It was a great experience!

Awesome find for us traveling from Ottawa area to Hamilton. Food was amazing and fresh, fresh, fresh. Server very friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this place!

Stopped for supper i had turkey club my partner had fish n chips excellent food great atmosphere. Recommend to anyone looking for a fine meal and prices good as well.
